Siliya’s tribunal starts sittings on 2nd March

Share

Chief Justice, Ernest Sakala, has constituted a four member tribunal to probe alleged abuse of office and corruption against Transport and Communications Minister, Dora Siliya.

The tribunal to be chaired by Justice, Dennis Chirwa, from the Supreme Court, starts sittings on March, 2 at the Supreme Court.

Other members of the tribunal are Justice, Peter Chitengi from the Supreme Court and Justice Hamaundu from the High Court.

Deputy Director of the subordinate courts, Maka Phiri, will be the secretary.

This is contained in a statement issued to ZNBC news by Registrar and Director of court operations, Mwamba Chanda.

The proceedings of the tribunal will be open to the public.

The setting up of the tribunal follows a petition to the Chief Justice by former Transport and Communications Minister, William Harrington.

He had petitioned to investigate Ms. Siliya for allegedly breaching the parliamentary and ministerial code of conduct Act.

Civil society organisations also presented a petition to the Chief Justice over the manner in which Ms. Siliya engaged RP Capital Partners of Cayman Island to value Zamtel assets.

    • With the current economic tormoil, a 4 member tribunal should be capable of producing results at reduced expenses. This matter should be sorted out as soon as possible so that justice prevails.

  8. Good morning friends and relatives
Am back on my server, no more strange flags.
This will be the first real test of RBB’s govt of whether they can be counted on or not. I would like to believe that there is still just a little bit of integrity left.

  9. let the tribunal carry out investigations without interferances from anyone .And if this woman minister if found guilty of wrong doing, we urge RB to allow justice prevail in this .The law should also visit her just like it has to reverand nyorongo.well done justice sakala ,justice mambilima and william harrington.

  10. The evidence against her is overwhelming, she is dead meat period. With Rupiah’s threat to close the Post, I will advise him to ask Chiluba. This paper will bring about Rupiah’s downfall like it did Chiluba and his oligarchy of thieves from Katanga.

  11. It is very embarrassing to hear a man of honour, scream like that? whom is he trying to impress? For sure he was made in china

  12. Guys you are yet to see the power of the p.ussy. Dora will wiggle her behind clear out of this debacle. already RB and other beneficiaries of the sweet cherry are exalting her innocence. i wouldn’t bet too much on the out come because there is no legal requirement to enforce the findings.

  13. LET US ALL REFRAIN FROM PREJUDICING THE CASE NOW IF YOU HAVE INFORMATION FOR OR AGAINST GO AND SUBMIT INSTEAD OF TRYING HER ON THIS LINE . LETS BE FAIR TO EACH OTHER. LET JUSTICE ONLY PREVAIL .MAY GOD SAVE ZAMBIA.DO TO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD LIKE THEM DO TO YOU. SHE IS INNOCENT FOR NOW UNLESS PROVED QUILTY. I PRAY THAT ONLY THE TRUTH WILL BE TOLD BY ALL WITNESSES MAY GOD PUNISH THOSE WHO WILL BE TELLING LIES.AMEN
