Former Transport minister, William Harrington, has discontinued his court action seeking judicial review over President Rupiah Banda’s decision not to suspend minister, Dora Siliya.
Ms. Siliya who is the current Transport minister has been accused of flouting procedure when awarding contracts to some foreign firms to implement projects for some Zambian parastatals under her ministry.
A tribunal has been set up to look at the accusations.
Mr. Harrington says he will now rely on the integrity of the tribunal chaired by Supreme Court justice, Dennis Chirwa, to ensure justice prevails.
The former transport Minister has instructed his lawyers to discontinue the case following Wednesday’s application by the state to adjourn the matter to next week.
Mr. Harrington says he expected the High Court to treat the matter with the necessary urgency before most of his witnesses who are government officials finish testifying.
The former minister had petitioned the President to suspend Ms. Siliya so that she could not interfere with witnesses.
Mr. Harrington has finished calling all his witnesses.

OK, so everybody’s dropping cases now?
Of course Nine Chale. I also drop my case and will not comment.
Nine Chale, do you know the song from Petersen, Nkani Yaka N’gono? He sings ” Naku Courty milandu zinazila pantu bavukula ka N’gono. yamene iyi kani yaka N’gono bambili bali nazelu zin’gono”
Nice tune.
can u translate, in english..
Jamaco I haven’t heard that tune yet, kindly post me the link. How many more days before you join the sleepless club bashi mwana?
Nkani Yaka N’gono means ” A matter/Case of something small” which as I understands it Petersen is singing about people always doing things to make something small (Money). Reminds me of the song from 50 Cent ” A little bit” !!
” Even in Courts Cases are droped when that something small has been revealed and some people remain with small senses because of this small thing (the money) ”
I hope this clumsy translation will help otherwise just listen to the song at youtube. It is there.
hey jamaco
nkani yakanono is the street word meaning money
in this case petersen meant that court cases are droped when some one had been paid to shut up. then he added that because of this corruption a lot have become senseless
because they get paid to be dull.
ngulube you have saved me. Too much German this side. I even fail to translate with simple words LOL.
Nkani yakanono it means corruption using money. (Taya pansi nidyakepo) it is all about corruption using money.
Well done Harrington! We need more people like him, who keep an eye on govt and hence providing checks and balances for policy-makers. We need more people like him for democracy to flourish
What do you mean well done? Hasn’t he left us hanging? Honestly, am mad!
He atleast took the petition to court and to the president and he’s one of people who made the govt to make a tribunal for Dora Siliya. We must understand that he is using his resources to pay his lawyers in a case that does not affect him directly. I reckon he took the case to court out of patriotism and he can alonger afford the legal fees. I think he has done his part. All we can hope for is that the tribunal will be objective despite Harington withdrawing his lawyers. The case continues
Harrington,did the shushushu visit you?
Indeed well done cilombwana. We only hope the result will be transparent.
I think some people have not read the article going by the comments above. Lets learn to read before we comment.
We only hope that the Tribunal will do a nice job.
FAZ president, Kalusha Bwalya, has been suspended for failing to appear before the National Sports Council disciplinary committee hearing.
The suspension will be in force until he appears before the committee to state his position on the disputed transfer of former Kabwe warriors striker, Emmanuel Mayuka, to an Israeli club.
National Sports Council chairperson, Julius Sakala, told ZNBC Sports that Kalusha was suspended at a disciplinary committee hearing on Thursday.
Earlier this week Kalusha had been summoned to appear before the council to clear the air on the Mayuka transfer saga.
The FAZ president however said he could not avail himself until he gets a response from the…
oooooooo no! please not Kalu now….the dude did us proud in his days of soccer playing days.!!! I hope his fingers are clean!
Kalu is power-hungry. Just wait before he does a George Weah!
Iwe even if he did us proud does that make him a saint? He is touchable and am glad the NCZ have taught him a lesson..We can’t have person doing everyone’s job becoz he is president..Ama Rubbish..
R.B is now targeting Kalusha, Kalusha and Nchito have done a lote of the country, The case of Mayuka was a purely business transaction, Why should the Sports council victmise Kalusha, R.B is using government agents like Sports Council to get rid of Kalusha just like He has tried to use the Ministry of Communication to get rid of Nchito. Viva Sata
Have you read through what you have printed??? if its penalties its 11-0 seriously i bet you are in late 40 or early 50s whats kalu got to do with RB???
honestly. I also don’t get it.
I don’t know how RB has come in too…Well said C.I.A i agree with u.
Iwe Vincent. You sound a typical outlaw. You PF Kaponyas S U C K how do you bring in Kalu in Nchito+RBs issue….. grow up
I really sympathise and empathise with Harry, why not treating that case with the urgency it required? As for Kalu,he can hang nimbushi. How does he run soccer issues on remote control, the id++t lives in SA.
It is true on Kulu, how can in live SA and come to work in ZED.Ask him if he has a house in zed to talk about.
RB’S SON IS WITH Ms. Siliya IN ALL THIS.
But on that one RB’s son may be forgiven
Your flag baba!!!
Henry is a business man ….The boy is making serious $$$$$ You are used to Castro i suppose…..
What does Kalusah got to do with the topic, read the topic, Kalusha Bwalya has worked hard for his position, why drag him into dirty issues. Nchito and Kalusha can not be compared at all. Kalusha has selflely fought hard using his own resources to bring about sanity in Zambian sport .
Such backpeddling is so embarrassing. Why did Harrington decide to join in the petitions in the first place. Looks like he realises he was fighting a losing battle.(Thats my opinion.)
Hello cutey/wifery, welcome back on LT. As for Harry ,he has done his best and demonstrated courage to have had made the petition. He possibly has realised that he can not outsmart the govt singlehandedly. Imagine his witnesses are still working under the same roof as Hon siliya ,they must be agony
Thanks ba Wise fimo fimo. Just wanted a break and watched L.T. through the terrace. Was busy too.
Harrington has a valid point if you read his article through well and good.He has a point as there is no way the investigation can transparently continue with Dora still in office.
Hello cutey, welcome back.No comment from me on this LT at variance with my view .
Gnite and g/ morning from that end
Imwe it doesnt mean that Harringtone has told the tribunal to stop investigating Dora no.He had also applied seeking Judicial intervation for Dora to be suspended as minister while investigations are going on.This was done with the view that if she continues to be minister, that could affect the whole process of investigations because of her influence in that capacity. Not that Harrington has told the tribunal to stop investigating Dora. There are 2 things here.
Yes Chewe, that’s why I commented earlier on that some people have not read the article!!
Or maybe they read they just didn’t understand, please explain to them what that means ‘dropping court action’.
I wish we has many straight and selfless individual like harington who think the interest of Zambia is paramount and harness the interest of patriotism. Good job Mr. harington.
Typical batengapo che suusi (smoke) basiiya mulilo (fire) pa news. Harrington has not bailed out yet but just seeking another avenue. Mulebelenga first then conclude. So far he is the only person with balls to challenge RB. Way to go Harrington
i feel for Brave harrington cause it all the peopl tht assured him that they have evidence against Ms Siliya based there promise on newspaper editorials. With the revelation that those contracts purpoted to have been cancelled where infact not and are in progress i dont know where this case will go.in a twist of fate the last paragraph of the attorney generals letter to dora said quote” you may proecced subject to the above concern” end quote. Mr harrington was asked what this last sentence means and his ans was correctly that its a conditional sentence.he was further asked whether this statement was an directive from the attorney general to ms Siliya not to proceed with the MOU he kept…
Justice must be upheld
RB’s son Henry Banda implicated in Zamtel saga by a witness at the tribunal…….i will wait and see where this is heading to.
interrogate RB sons on this issue.they got a hand in it.
but zoona pa ZED pali drama….kwati ni movie uletamba kanshi ni reality…
Head line in todays post ” witness links Rupia’s son Henry to RP capital!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
mwebantu ngafweni the time has been to short for to much
I have droped my comment as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I only hope all the cases wont be dropped. How does this William Banda start shouting ‘boma ni boma’ at the tribunal premises. Its sickening!
What else Willi will u drop the tribunal proceedings as well after all You initiated it. Pa zed ni Zziii. Atobela umunensu.
Let justice prevail and Dora be probed
Harrington is a clown just like Sata! Why start things you can’t finish? Complete morons indeed, the only chaps who benefit from this bufoonery are the lawyers…
This Homosexual and pervert called William Harrington RELIED ENTIRELY ON MISINFORMATION RELAYED by his fellow pervert MMEMBE. As much as they think their lifestyles are ‘normal’, let them not try to draw others into their evil schemes.
Ladies and Gentlemen, the last man I could ever trust is the type that find it normal to lick anothers mans penis and feaces. (sic) How shameful, shameful indeed. That pervert MMEMBE excited his fellow HOMO to act on hearsay. How despicable!
Children keep away from Mmembe and Harrington Please. These people are bad news.
HARRINGTON AND MMEMBE ARE BED FELLOWS
I HATE THIS HABIT OF DROPPING CASES!
