Renard Drops Chansa For Egypt Clash

Share

Herve Renard has dropped Isaac Chansa from his final 18-man Zambia team that departs from Johannesburg this evening to Cairo ahead of Sundays 2010 World/Africa Cup Group C qualifier against Egypt.

Chansa of Helsingborg in Sweden will miss a major qualifier for Zambia since serving a one-match suspension in the last round in a Group 11 game away to Swaziland in a 0-0 draw on June 15, 2008.

However, he was later a non-playing member of Zambia’s 1-0 win over Togo at Konkola Stadium in Chililabombwe on September 11, 2008 in another Group 11 qualifier.

The midfielder from Helsingborg in Sweden is one of three foreign-based left out of the team by Renard.

Others are SuperSport United defender Davies Nkausu who is still looking for his first senior trip to Egypt after being dropped from the final squad for the Africa Cup finals staged there in 2006.

Midfielder Stophira Sunzu of French Ligue 2 club Chateauroux has also been dropped.

Zesco United midfielder Jonas Sakuwaha who was a key player in Zambia’s CHAN bronze medal winning side in Cote d’Ivoire has also been omitted from the squad.

Zambia had set-up a four-day training camp in Johannesburg that came to a close today as they depart for Cairo.

  1. HR this is a mistake you have made sakuwaha and chansa are good midfielders pliz dont let us down jonas is beta than given

  2. Ok Renard dont take things personal you called chansa and then you dont take him? honestly is that fair? and then you take chivuta inkula awe pa zed bola yalibako political

    • There is no politics involved here, the problem we have is wanting to play names. Now that politics and elections are in low key chamufya kuli nyama soya noku mileta to kuboola.Let football be run and administered by the people who know how.

  3. Who and how the final squad looks like is basically the final decision of the coach unless Kalu has intervened again. The coach is the man on the ground so there is o more time of playing names here.We just need players who will die a little, if not forever for mother Zambia.Go boys and fly our flag high in African football.

  4. Ok with Renard’s final list but too bad Chansa has been dropped coz I think he’s still a good player. Any way, with the katongo brothers in, the chipolopolo will beat the pharaohs and I bet felix will be the man of the game. He will do even better than he did last june against togo. Many supporters in france are behind you boys. You will take us to the world cup I’ve confident. GO BOYS GOOOOOOOOO

    • cheeky bretonne walya iwe! Definitely hot felix will be the man of the game. The groud as a whole isn’t bad. We will make it the world cup

  5. Bloggers, please remember that the chipolopolo had a friendly with a reserve chaizer chiefs’side. Not all of us know how those dropped players performed and in what form they are in,that was very key with the team’s selection dispite playing a mediocre side.Time for playing names is long gone.vee vaa boys.

  6. Chansa is finished even back here, there is nothing he does apart from playing to fufill the fixture. Viva Renard

  7. Zambian football ingakudialike BP…I will just wait for the results we are playing Egypt babululu bakwa Yesu Kristu.Elo imwe Ba Zambia na Yesu chibululu chakulondolola….. ma 10 zero tunkofwako.

    • ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

    • But Mudala iwe awe kwena! Anyway lets hope for the best I would be truly disappointed if we are annihilated by the pharoahs, I expect a competitive game not a whitewash.

  8. HR you are a disapointing coach i have ever seen in zambia WHY chansa the piller of the midfield of zambia well only God knows what will happeny on sunday YOU “LL”NEVER WALK ALONE

  9. This is the team. Thanks for dropping Isaac chansa. He killed us at the last CAN when played Cameroon. Joseph Musonda also needs a replacement.

  10. Renard has accepted a job elsewhere that is why he has assembled a losing team. He left out key players so that when the loss materializes fans will get mad and denounce him. Then he will be “forced” for his new job. The guy wants out, can you not see the behaviour? Then message is in black and white if you ask me. Shame on you!

    • Iwe your apparent lack of football knowledge is apalling kindly make suggestions of alternatives or log off and do some work

    • Talk to you after the game Phat 1… “apparent lack of football knowledge” is a perfect descriptor about what I know about football for certain. You are a genius!

  11. Renard has shown to many followimg our Zambian team that he has the tactical brains to steer the chipolopolo to the world cup 2010. Being a footballer/upcoming coach myself, i believe HR made the decisions to drop chansa, sakuwaha, davies and stophira, on both tactical and fittness reasons of these players and not that kalusha’s hand played a part. Now coming to Sunday’s game, we have nothing to fear, Egypt are a side that Zambia can beat even on their tuff. I have watched them play several times as far back as SA 1996 through the last CAN,even the latest friendlies they had. They play quick balls from the midfield, to the wings, drawing defenders out, and attack with mido. Remedy 3-4-1-3

  12. can some scientist answer me hasn’t Zambia blundered by going to Egypt three days before the game instead of a day before. According to what I know we should have gone to Cairo a week before so as to acclimitise. Otherwise it is better to go 24 hours before the game so that altitude has no effect. Not three days before.

  13. Chansa would have helped. The coach should learn to listen to what people say. No wonder you will see brazil and others making good teams. its not only about good players but, the combination of those players too. our midfield is laking someone to anchor and pass good balls. felix will have a lot to do coz his best playmate will not be in. it will not be easy for chris, he will have to concetrate on the midfield. though the coach knows what he is doing, with chansa he has gone too far. any ways, still hoping for the best. but i tell you what, our midfieled is just too weak.

  14. ok! i dont understand one thing here, who gave chansa a one match ban, the coach or caf? am ignorant about this.
