President Banda has called for peace and unity among all Zambians to enable the country continue with the success scored by the late President Levy Mwanawasa.

President Banda said his administration would ensure that the budget for 2009 targets the problems of all the Zambian people wherever they are.

He said despite all bad things and insults being hauled on him together with his ministers, permanent secretaries and other leaders, he would respect and work for all Zambians.

Mr Banda called on all Zambians to block bad leaders who want to win the presidency on tribal lines.

He called on Zambians to give his administration enough time to address the problems the country is facing as the new budget only came out about two weeks ago.

The President said this on his arrival at Mongu Airport to grace this year’s Kuomboka ceremony.

President Banda was received by Provincial Minister, Antony Mufulalali, leaders of the Lozi Royal Establishment and other high ranking officials.

Mr Banda is accompanied by the first Lady, Thandiwe, MMD national chairperson, Michael Mabenga, and Chief Analyst for press, Dickson Jere.

Speaking earlier, MMD national chairperson, Michael Mabenga, said Zambians should give President Banda and his administration time to implement his programmes and policies as he has just started working.

Mr Mabenga thanked the President and the government for the quick response to the flood situations and assured the President that no person will die of hunger as long as the MMD remains in power.

President Banda is also expected to view flood-affected areas from Libonda to Mongu.

Mr Banda is expected to return to Lusaka tomorrow afternoon.

  1. So this man has simply gone to use the Kuomboka as a platform to shoot up his 2011 campaign. Any way Lozis have this to blame for being cheated again and they have nothing to say and all their so called intelligence will just be paper work.

  2. I told you that he was going to campaign. Now this is what he is showering the ceremony with. a speech about all Zambians. %-(

  3. Baby C you just can not say that. He is our President with a motive at the moment. Please extend your comment.

  4. Jamaco, this man has been in office for about 6 months and still calling on us to give him more time? for what? what change has he brought since he was elected apart from the ever rising food prices and job losses? he wants us to give him more time to continue attacking and insulting defenceless journalists and lawyers on T.V whenever his useless cadres march to state house in support of his leadership? thats no-nse-nse at its best papa! Rubbish!

  5. #6 i M LOVE WITH YOUR NAME,HAHAHAHAHAHA,YEBO IMWE A SUZYO,MULIMULI?
AS FO RB,THAT’S WHAT WE NEED TO HEAR,PLZ WORK TOWARDS THAT.

  6. A huge hi everyone and a special hello to Jamaco.
Well coming to this article, RB says he will respect Zambians, but when shall this be? For now am at the cross roads… should I feel RB respects me as a Zambian or not? What is the definition of respect for the Zambians in this case.
All in all I would say the whole article is not very clear. Could someone help me understand

  7. Hi baby C,

    I understand your suggestion.

But Mwana Muchende is as authentic as it is, in fact far shorter than some names on this blog. I will have to consult my lawyer before I could give myself an alias.

  8. # 13 There is so much vagueness in the article , I suppose that is the work of Dickson Jere….to cover up for his boss who said nothing of substance to the people of western province. Actually RB is very uncomfortable and feeling guilty for his ungratefulness ,visiting the province for the first time after 2008 elections.

  9. Bashikulu kantwa, do us a favour and retire, we need fresh ideas, from young educated zedians. anyone over 65 is ready for pension.

  10. Mwana Muchende thanks for the special hallo. I also extend a special one to you on this beautiful day of 2009. You are right when you ask for RB to define the word RESPECT. I am sure each and every individual has a different definition.

  11. NONSENSE. What success was scored by Levy? Can someone point it out? African leaders, I love them for one thing. They have no shame.

  12. Action speaks louder than words. Let RB show us what he means.
Up to now I’m still waiting for my new passport which I already paid for in full! Is that a hard working, efficient government?

  13. # 10 Baby C,
As you rightly pointout he has been in office 6 months. What do you expect in 6 months ? not even Obama can deliver in 6 months. As for job loses this is a global phenomenon which RB can do absoultly zero.
Lets give the man until atleast election time, then we can out him.

  14. #28 I am also paid for mine (full) and at the same time started organizing a German one. I am sure the German one will reach me first. I just hope Zed realizes that and they do not send me the new one, otherwise it will be dual-citizenship. I will laugh my ass if I end up having two passports. Just wait I will update you on that one.

  15. Nyamaz wants more time.Remember Chiluba was saying the same in his early years as president.Kanshi the man was busy stealing and abusing peoples wives.RB you are accusing some oppostion leadersof being tribalist, but you told the people eastern province that “BAFUNA KUMILANDA ICI CINTU”.Stinks tribal to me.what do you think yourself?
WE CAN GIVE YOU EVEN A DECADE,BUT WITHOUT VSION BHABHA WHAT DO YOU EXPECT TO ACHIEVE?. TWAKANA………..YOU ARE BLIND

  16. @KC, I was about to point out the same thing. Sometimes people on here act as if God was elected or something. 6 months and people are asking how much more time he needs? What a joke! He has 2 more years to go. Decide then whether he has done a good job a not…. but please, be realistic and think about what kind of grand-scale changes you expect to happen in 6 months. I tell you, many comments on here are pinned largely on emotion and seriously devoid of much intellectual contemplation. Do I want the MMD to remain in power? No, but that doesn’t automatically do away with discretion and mean I have to have knee-jerk oppositionary reactions to every darn thing they do or say. Gosh.

  17. Even companies demand for productivity that is why there is 3 months probation , 6 months probation ,yearly appraisals etc. These are all benchmarks which are you used to assess an employess perfomance during that duration ,because it shows clearly how the employee will perform in the longterm .Companies and Organizations make a decision based upon the probation period. Zambians judge for yourselves as you are the employers and the Govt is the employee. God bless Zambia.

  18. Thats true # 28 Nine Chale actions speak louder than words RB still has to prove himself like Levy did. We did not like him as first but he proved to be a good president so let us see what he can do but he better hurry before our patience runs out.

  19. #38. , Bo Wisema fimo fimo, try visiting where I advised you to, its hot. I caused kafwafwa but all is well now. {sorry, Iam talking in toungues here}

  20. # 37 Fanny cloud, it has happened before , KK attended so did LPM , not sure about the mutant Kafupi who will always remain a wonder to me…….

  21. There are privileges that a president take up without consulting anyone. Going to Kuomboka is one of those privileges. He is the President of Zambia damn it and has the right to travel his country from dusk till dawn. No explanation and no excuse. He needs no invitation at all.
So now let us rest this case Citizens.

  22. Hello bloggers! RB Thats the spirit ,for the people of Zambia are your masters.I challenge you do to a good job and keep your words.Prove us bloggers wrong, for many of us are armchair critics with no solutions at all .

  23. Have funny all am out for a while ……Litunga bless RB to govern the country with a spirit of genuineness and love for all ,let the unity that existed in KK era resurface and wipe out the memories of chiluba period…..(.not be misunderstood earthly parents can bless just like Isaac did)

  24. On “He said despite all bad things and insults being hauled on him together with his ministers, permanent secretaries and other leaders, he would respect and work for all Zambians. Mr Banda called on all Zambians to block bad leaders who want to win the presidency on tribal lines.” great stuff Mr President RB Banda.

Surely your stance is some how what I have been doing on this forum and it is yielding positive results. Thus, you can never go wrong with it and all the very best.

As long as the Undereducate does not assume give up his Zambian Presidential ambition with his failure to apologise to all Zambians over his past conduct, I will continue to give you time Mr President.

However, I am supporting the nice campaign on www dot hakainde dot com in its current build up for…

  25. Is it true that the budget came out two weeks ago, as RB was quoted saying? I hope the man has a strategy now. Budget is no excuse. If anything, he shoud have had a strategy before the budget was passed so that those strategies are incoporated in the same budget. Refering to the budget implementation as an indication of when RB will start work is absurd. For example, fighting corruption does not need a budget to first be passed. Same applied to cabinet discipline which is lamentably lacking.

  26. Yeah RB, start by sorting out the mess that has crippled the mining industry…particularly in Mufulira. I was there a few weeks ago and you are there talking about working for Zambians. Are you guys for real or not?!!

  27. I hope you’ll keep your words consistent. You should not be playing double standards, you go to the east and use a totally different language and again another..On our economic front what is your strategy Banda?

  28. too much bwa-bwa-bwa-bwa-….bwa-bwa-bwa-bwa- …and zero work. Cant you just do it silently and we shall notice when your work bears fruits…

  29. But let him tame Teta, Pipes and Shikas. These guys a recipe for trouble as they are very annoyingly vocal. He needs to call them and advise them to be rational on national matters. After all today its RB tommorrow it could be me or you
