Mr. Banda has also nominated Lusaka Lawyer Maria Dras-Neves and Zambian High Commissioner to London Anderson Chibwa to accompany Zambia’s First Republican President a to the function.

President Banda said Dr. Kaunda has been nominated to represent Zambia because of the vast knowledge and interaction which the former president has with the Commonwealth.

  1. Though i must say it looks like you will reward all UNIP members in one way or another at the rate you are going

  2. On this one KK deserved it….You dont know Ba MAggie former British PM was his girl friend way back in time,he claims she was just a dacing patner but I think there was more to just holding hands and dancing on the celling bena Kellyz aba mulemona ninshiku ishi shilebachita so

  3. RB, you have done well. KK should have been used more by previous presidents to represent Zambia’s interests internationally. Shame that fjt spent more time persecuting him. Levy started worse. But later tried to honour the old man. RB, honour KK more. Listen to his wisdom especially on the economy and especially on the mines issue.

  4. Spring chicken, RB could have picked us so as to minimse on transport and accomodation expenses! there is always the first time…you know lol!

  5. Mr. Banda has also nominated Lusaka Lawyer Maria Dras-Neves and Zambian High Commissioner to London Anderson Chibwa to accompany Zambia’s First Republican President a to the function.
People who is Maria Dras-Neves what tribe is she?

  6. KK ? yes, hecan be used in such archivial -ceremonially relatated fuctions. But RB must not over-court FTJ. I hear RB has already started dishing out money on streets. He did it in solwezi!

  7. Tiyende Pamodzi ndi mutima umo ….Kaunda tiye…
Chisokone, chisokone, one Zambia, one Nation….
    Dr. Kaunda uwamuyayaya nomuyayaya

  8. Firstly 28th April must be KK’s birthday if I am not mistaken and this will be great if that is the case. Secondly, I thought Dickson Jere was promoted to a higher position, what is happening or am I lef behind due to working hard too much on my personal things. On “President Banda said Dr. Kaunda has been nominated to represent Zambia because of the vast knowledge and interaction which the former president has with the Commonwealth, I hope this is the only true reason behind this nice gesture to former President KK. I however think that there is more to this. The support KK gave to President Banda over the Undereducate MC Sata last year during the presidential campaigns appears to be yielding fruits just like Nevers Mumba (Doc,?) secured an Ambassadorship appointment.

  9. Zambia sweet mother Zambia
    long live our father
i have much respect for you
wish you the blessing of the Almighty God
    Zambia sweet mother Zambia

  10. If these gurus go there shall be no one to represent Zambia then because it seems the choice of representation depends on vast experience. If vast experience is the basis of representative then Dr Kaunda must be made minister of foreign affairs as well. And if such standards were to be applied in politics as they seem now to be, then Mr Banda must abdicate his duties as president to Dr kaunda whose experience supersedes that of Mr Band.Viva Mandela the true son of Africa who understood his time and never looked back and today unflaggingly supports his party.

  11. Nyama soya (RB) ,on this one you have demonstrated that you sometimes think before acting, but please while acting do still think….. this will give a resemblance of LPM `S LEGACY of respecting our found father contrary to kafupi the pioneer of divisive acts and hate in the country……..the dog in the manger add some more

  12. you can forgive RB he has never been over seas so he doesnt know what to do or how to talk with the qeen eliza.you saw what he did last time levry sent him to represant him he wanted to fall down in the presance of the qeen.

  13. wel done RB, on a slightly different note, Nyasa Times of Malawi has been quoted has saying VJ is in a Rigging Scam ‘helping out’ the Malawian Govt rig their next election. LT please dig deeper!

  14. #15. Tchwang, the answer to your question is that she is a Zambian lawyer, a very pretty and intelligent Zambian lawyer. What’s the relevance of your wanting to know her “tribe”? Isn’t the fact that she is Zambian enough for you? Okay, she is your so-called “coloured”. Does that make you feel good? Get a life and grow beyond your tribal trappings!!

  15. there is nothing wrong in tring to find out what her tribe is. the name sounds boerish. Limbi mwana we bunu. zambia is for black zambians so all you half muntus zwas kwa hayeeeee!!

  16. Let KK come , though he is not a saint ,yet he will walk with his head high and make Zambia proud .For kafupi it could have been the opposite with the head covered in a black religious veil…….and down cast

  17. #28 Dalai Lama. If everyone had your attitude your Zedian ass would not be where it is right now. so shut up and find something constructive to say. We are not bigots in Zambia thats why we have so much peace.

  18. No# 23 Ned you understand reality as it should be seen. Mandela is trully a son of Africa, plus the Patriots of Botswana that have amazed me time after time due to their unselfishness in office. Baby C you too have learnt the importance of saving resources. 1984 you are at it again making a young man research lol. Let us remember Kaunda for his contribution to our independence, but also keep very much alive his one party state dictatorship in our continous conciousness.

  19. #28, Your opening sentence is not bad but what follows after that is a very dangerous and un-necessary statement that has no place on this blog or even in Zambia as a country.

  20. 28, Dalai lama, you contribution is very unfortunate and please Zambia is for all Zambians of all backgrounds as long as they have Zambian Citizenship or will be having it due to descent if they won’t be seeking Citizenship elsewhere.

Have a good day and keep well.

  21. Hi Olympia extension Chick, wazanda ka? Dalai Lama please that is uncalled for; I know some none King Solomon looking or Miyanda looking Zambians have acted strange towards you or me in times past. That was ours and the governents fault for not stiffening laws nor teaching confidence in our created beings. We are all Zambians one and All.

  22. thats a great move His Exellence has pulled, this should raise an awareness that the fathers of the land have to have a place at the table of kings even when they have long left office. such gestures must be ecouraged for a more united zambia. KK is a zambian hero, though for political correctness he might not be everyones favourite. The mere fact that he led the nation for 27 years bears record that such are great men. All the Best supper K n cheers your Excellency.

  23. KK is an inspiration for the whole of Africa. RB good decision and I salute you on this move. We should never forget where we came from and who fought for our Independence. KK has done a lot for Zambia and its because of him that a lot of Countries know where Zambia is. Continue wit

  24. Imwe ba LT!! Today I get another new flag. It may be that the IPs my company bought recently still have old DNS registration out there. I know wonder which country my flag is.

  25. # 37 I am good Mwanawakwitu, good to see you on the blog. I just saw some comments from other bloggers on the Original Dora story and they were extremely disappointing to say the least. What is up with the un-necessary insults on LT???

  26. Iye elyo chashupa.Rb is just scred of meeting the king, he has nerver been abroad since he became president.

  27. he is scared of meeting the queen. Anyway he made a good choice for chosing ba KK. Atleast KK is exposed takatusebanye.

  28. No#41 Olympia Extension Chick! Great to know you are good and also receiving the overdue spring weather. As for the insults it is probably more from the male folk that make up a minority of bloggers; it is sad that there are a few that are disgrantled ladies mashed into the mixture. Rejoice for the wise ones are blogging on this thread and the one on Mrs Thandiwe Banda’s. Moral responsibilities if possible should be tied into the new Zambian constitution. Thus I make my case that Miyanda and the late Lucy Sichone personas would be good in intergral ministerial positions. Maybe you can lead us one day lol. So smile my lady hope lives, and great men and women shall always exist.

  29. #48, It is still a bit chilly here, but the weekend weather looks promising. I guess that we need to take the good with the bad and the ugly in this blogging business!!! lol!! Enjoy the rest of your day and week!!!

  30. There is a saying ,that if you mention a wolf(dog) you better prepare a stick …..am read for you . What is your comment on kk coming to uk ….speak even in calculus if that will make sense

  31. It is a miracle that well learned Zambia can accept arbitrary appointments.Ladies and gentle men,in all things in life do not look at the person but look at the action and how well it best serves your nation not only in this one function but in many more even in those that are hidden.Arbitrary appointments must not be allowed they have got so many disadvantages and sets a bad precedent. The government must be a full complete system that functions automatically because everything has been put in place.Decision must not be made randomly, neither should they be based solely on personal wishes, feelings, gratitude or perception, but rather on objectives, facts or principles in agreements with proper government rule.It is the people who builds dictators.

  32. Olympia Extension Chick! have a great day too. Return tomorrow, pictures of the week and other worthy articles. Ned you have vindicated my mind; if only someone who could ask questions about the very importance of the commonwealth was being sent. Formalities I guess.

  33. #58 Great inductive thinking , though its all taken very obvious and for granted as a formality coupled with former British conquest pursuits. They offer commonwealth scholarships , our very own Zambian pass ports are stamped commonwealth and other countries ……

  34. In the States this is common place. Let us give our former leaders the respect they deserve. FTJ is the odd one out.

  35. # 11 u aren’t the matching.. just being selfish.. KK is the right person for that event.. And #3 thats rubbish.

  36. I thought it was supposed to read ‘High Commission to the United Kingdom’ and not to London, a city in England (England is one of the 4 countries in UK)?

  37. #64 Valid point , a reader of fine lines …. Perhaps coming to central London could have been specifically to the point . Because all roads will lead to central London on 28th April ….my view

  38. #no 26, you know any background for RB. He has met most of the people abroad, look back. #29 you are very ignorant about everything. In this era even a boy of 3 knows that people are trying to live as one. Globalisation mdala. No country has no foreigners, its so sad that you are still short sighted. You dont belong anywhere, only God knows who belongs where. Stop being evil in your heart. in short DONT BE RACIST. Nafulwa sana…….

  39. #62 Kanjimaano
Sorry mate its my view and for the record they do actually need to be rewarded because they did more for Zambia than the past Governments have done put together. I dont think you would want to send FTJ to represent you or some of his past ministers who all seem to have a case or 2 to answer. anyways i was having a rite laugh during the day i shall leave this time of blogging to you nite crowlers

  40. #15, I too want to know who this Dras Neves is. I’ve been away for too long from home so, what significant role has she played on the zambian scene? As for KK, many pipo know Zed coz of him whether for good or bad reasons. I get comments like, ‘you’re from zambia? “zambia shall be free”‘ in reference to the book he authored. And I know ba RB’s presence will be overshadowed by KK’s presence, which is a relief actually.

  41. Wise Choice RB…keep the old man busy as a sign of appreciation for the history he has made. Forget the critics…on this one RB, you made the right choice. Long live KK…and may god bless him. One Zambia, One Nation…regardless of colour, tribe, ethnicity e.t.c..

  42. #73 fear not she is an intelligent women from Zambia , not a hero worshiper but a very respectable lawyer , out standing and understanding as a greater thinking individual for Zambia…

  43. I think the queen of England will be happy to see KK because they are actually good buddies from the olden days… congrats RB for recognizing the old man.

  44. Dras is a Lozi lady – speaks Lozi fluently, brought up on Copperbelt, went to Unza, has mixed blood like most Zambians (whether they know it or not)

  45. The objectivity of life ,lies in being very honesty to evil .. hypocrisy is very an , epitome of the evil kafufpi… Let me study….

  46. KK, you truly are Zambian and I have nothing but the utmost respect for what you did for your country and Southern Africa as a whole. Tiyende Pamondzi ndi Mutima umooo!!!

  47. When I mett Kk I was at unza at 6yrs (six ) old when when war erupted in1980

  48. I am watching , can I meet evil in disguise …parading in the name of God those i meet those meet along the path of just………

  49. # 26 lams ,

RB is a top career Diplomat who has served in Washington DC, at the UN, London, Saudi Arabia and Egypt besides being Minister of Foreign Affairs and President of Namibia in Transition. He has dinned and met Kings and rulers of all dimension. His only match in diplomacy circles is Dr. Siteke Mwale and Hon. Venon Johnson Gomez Mwaanga.Even when Pope John Paul came to Zambia, RB was the foreign Minister who represented Dr. Kaunda and presided over that historic Mass at Pope square. He delegates as sign of a leader who trust others and has had enough of exposure.

  50. I am watching …..the snakes and the the kafupis ,have evaded ,whom shall redeem us?

  51. Ofcourse he cannot appoint chiluba to represent zambia for obvious reasons. any way KK must be made to pay for the sufferings we had in those 80’s and lifebouy soap was daimani

  52. #15 (Tchwang), what does it matter what tribe Maria Dras-Neves is? By the way, I am not going to ask what tribe you yourself belong to because you sound like a proud Zambian (if you are even a Zambian) and that is enough for me. However, the tone of your inquiry about another proud Zambian (Maria Dras-Neves) is shameful and very CAVE-MAN oriented. It sounds like in your world, Zambians with foreign sounding names should have their “PETRIOTISM” or “ZAMBIANINESS” questioned– How sad. To #29 (Dalai Lama Jr), please spare us the agony of reading your shallow-minded rubbish– get a life, will you?

  53. you guys in the diaspora are dull, you mean you have never read RB profile!shame on you.Worse some of you are extreme tribalists. zambia is for all zambias1 you guys in the diaspora are dull, you mean you have never read RB profile!shame on you.Worse some of you are extreme tribalists. zambia is for all zambias1

You guys in the diaspora are dull, you mean you have never read RB profile!shame on you. Worse, some of you are extreme tribalists. zambia is for all zambias!Sata will NEVER be Zambia’s president. It will ever be a Dream and Never a reality!

  54. #56 Ned, you have said it all. I hope those in government have functioning ears.
As for the lawyer (the lady) accompanying KK, she is a virtual unknown so people have the right to find out who she is and even the criterion used to choose her over many well known people. I am however happy that some people have been kind enough to tell us what she is. She is a Zambian just like Guy Scott and William Harrington are.

  55. ViVa Rb for the first time i agree with you let the elders do the commonwealth thing. Guys in England i have some invitation letters for you. Cheers. Nine Chale shani apo

  56. #22MEASTRO FIMO FIMO,

My good advice to you my beloved friend. Don,t make HH your personal god. Every person on this earth no matter the resources and capacity he has have the capability of desapointing us. From the look of this, you emotionary hate Sata so much if given a chance to kill you wouldn’t even think twice. But every person in this world has the capability of giving us a hand in one way or the other. This means that,”YOU SHOULD BE GOOD TO ANYONE ON YOU WAY UP OR YOU MIGHT NEED ONE ON YOU WAY DOWN. This doesn’t mean that you can not oppose, but oppose with sincererity not hatred. By the way its just an advice, take or leave it
As for the topic at hand, congrats RB for the 1st time.

  57. I hate to see this, sometimes i wonder when we are going to have free thinkers who looks not at the person but on issues.Look, you freeborn earth citizens. We loved Kaunda because of the liberation, then we hated him because of what followed next.We then loved Chiluba because he was able to stand against the dictator as we called Kaunda then.Chiluba brought in freedom of speech over which we loved him most and wanted always to kiss his hands.Alas!we now hate him because of having being smeared by his friend so as to gain political mirage from unsuspecting citizens. If our dislike for the two is or was based on genuine reasons who then qualify between the two to represent us.With me since both have a blemish to share none can represent me.There must be others to carry a touch for us.

  58. From #100.I hate neither of the two but justice must prevail on all issues.I can not like this one and hate the other if one find forgiveness in my eyes and so should the other. We must not be myopic,we must try to streach our minds so that we arrive at the best conclusion ever.Mr Rupia Banda should not have sent Kaunda if he can not send Chiluba.Kaunda like Chiluba must be forgiven for there past mistakes and let them live on farms so that they can be productive to society.

  59. I was already abroad by the time Chiluba became the presidence.. with cases levelled after leaving ofice, let him clear his name b4 getting benefits (retirement and medical expenses) It is strange to hear a former president beeing called a thief even before leaving office. There is something sinister.

  60. Well, i personally can smell a rat in this nomination of KK representing Zambia to this important anniversary. I have no issues with KK at this point, but the reasons put across by RB. As fAr as iam concerned, UNIP is indirectly back into power. Morever, we should not forget that there is some close relation between the two Lads. However, on the other hand, RB has nicely dogged his presidential responsibility simply because he can not stand the presence of the Queen!!!!!!!!! PERIOD.I feel he has failed Zedians.

  61. 99 background you seem to be out of touch with news also senses following your “Don,t make HH your personal god. Every person on this earth no matter the resources and capacity he has have the capability of desapointing us. From the look of this, you emotionary hate Sata so much if given a chance to kill you wouldn’t even think twice.“. Whre does HH come in on my posting in #22. Have yourself checked at some hospital for writing about kiiling and stop accusing me of hating the Undereducate SATA MC. I love him in his regard as a human being who is a Standard 4 school drop out and based on the true available news, I give my own independent analysis. So I do not need your useless advice for it does not hold any proof to take it seriously.

    Have a good day.

  62. #104,You are my admirer when you say that every person on this earth no matter the resources and capability has the capability to dissapoint us.This is the begining of wisdom my friend the belief that man is important only to himself. Those who put trust in man are illusioned and live life not of self and self thought but that dragged by others which is a shame.Real life, real living uplift not man but reason and fine thought that makes life better and worthwhile.Every living thing is useless for all faces death. But the mind that searches perfect understanding the understanding that only abides in the creator gets illumination and will not look at man in fear and adoration but will search that which makes sense and is in agreement with natural living.

  63. It is a brilliant idea for Kk to attendthe dinner but on the other hand, instead of teh lawyer I think it would have been of more benefit for a student. I think the student appreciate the visit more as it would give them and understanding of the commonwealth and it would be more educational for them and othere schools alike. It is important to involve students in such rare occassions as it bring to reality the physical aspect of the Queen who is the head of the commonwalth. It was a thrill for us as students of jacaranda Primary school in 1978 when the queen was supposed to come to our school but at the last minute she went to Lusaka Girls. I remeber very well the preparations that went into the visit, like my sisters and i rehersing for a musical My name is Macnamara!
