Share

Zambia ‘s women boxing heroin Esther Phiri, today won convincingly against Ratree Kreakae to add a fifth belt after she sent her opponent to the canvas in the fourth round to become the new Women International Boxing Association (WIBA) at Hood Restaurant in Nairobi, Kenya.

Esther was far superior throughout the fight against the little known Thailand boxer who hardly threw an effective punch against the celebrated Zambian female boxer.

Esther has the Women International Boxing Association (WIBA) junior belt, World Boxing Council (WBC) super featherweight belt,Women International Boxing Federation (WIBF)and the Global Boxing Union (GBU) lightweight belt.

In the supportive bout, Zambia’s bantamweight boxer Kennedy Kanyanta retained his Global Boxing Union (GBU) belt after out boxing his Kenyan rival Twalib Mibiru

And the Association of National Team Supporters (ANTS) ANTS Acting Secretary General (SG) Bob Kayukwa has congratulated Esther for her convincing win over Kreakea.

ANTS Acting Secretary General (SG) Bob Kayukwa said his organization was pleased with Esther continued spirit of flying the Zambian flag high.

Mr. Kayukwa said in an interview in Lusaka today that Esther’s victory has made many Zambians to be proud of Esther.

The ANTS Secretary General said the Victorious Esther also deserves all the thunderous welcome from all Zambians.

He said Esther was focused in the boxing matches adding that this was why she was able to beat her opponent from Thailand.

  1. Atleast now she has proved her self after some accusations that she was favoured in the last fight she won in Lusaka against an American female boxer. Congrats Eshter keep up with the same spirit.

  2. Kusiyana siyana kwa ma office, this is exciting news bravo Esther for reviving the spirit of boxing in Zambia , though a brain damaging sport if one does not quit early….

  3. Congrats Esther and your coach! You bring happiness and make us forget of this squabbling going on in our beloved nation for a while.

  4. Its interesting after all this civilization, we still put people in a ring and delight in watching them batter, bloody and potentially kill each other.

  5. Esther we are proud of you. But an observation, why is it that she only goes for vacant championships. Pliz let her challenge one oponent with a belt already.

  6. Call them govt spies , snipers ,chief govt spokespersons name them .. bad instincts converted into relatively acceptable ones …so is boxing only knowing when to quit.

  7. Insimbi ni inshimbi. Mwabombeni ba Estele. We do have good news in Zambia after all.

  8. Woman of my uncle oh! sorry , woman of substance do not go to sleep , you really make/keep me thinking as in activating my neuronal cells … comment more who knows the Hillary of Zambia in making ..actuality not flattery is my hobby

  9. WIBA DID NOT SANCTION THIS FIGHT.
i refuse to work with promoter Kaleb Cuya because he is a piece of sh1t, using the WIBA’s name to promote this event, when the WIBA is in no way involved with these fight, and not paying the WIBA and other sanction bodies’ fees. i told Caleb before the fight to lose my number, i want nothing to do with him or his shows.
i am the president of the WIBA and i approve this message.

  13. Well done Esther, i was a bit scared for a moment. Just a concern, who made the decision to take the fight to kenya, that place looked worse than Tall Trees, here in Lusaka, and the turn out was pathetic, the crowd couldnt even show emeotion when her opponent hit the canvas. they were all seated as though they were out on a lunch date. was any money made from the gate takings………I know more couldv been raised from here!

  14. #11 Good observation, I have equally been wondering. Can someone please shed some light on this one.

  15. Congratulations Esther, but pliz stop this now when you are still fit or else you end up like the Late Lottie Mwale.

  16. One blooger by the name….should fight with Ester, he is always looking for a fight each time he contributes senselessly. i think mwamuziba bonse. Shani Nine Chale oops Baby C. Tionge uli umoyo? Congrats Ester Gunduzani Phiri

  18. Baby C no names for you its true someone from Nigeria to be specific. Akapondo long time shani pa TZ. Tionge nanenso nili waka makola. weekend yane yanguba iweme chomene. Chelsea team yane yani nozyesa.

  19. Congrats to our own lady. Now to put that aside the organisers for this macth did a very hopless job how can they take an intanational bout to such a place with few pipo, even most of those who were there looked as if they just went for somthing else.WE should be very carefull about some of these promoters from other countries they can be making money on our boxers indirectly without us knowing. Its like the fight was taking place in a village were the villagers dont even know boxing. Can someone tell us somthing.

  20. Congrats esther, you have made Zambia proud. But please do not be carried away by fame and money- start thinking of your health and well being, its about you packed the gloves before more damage is done to you!

  21. Esther is a true hero, comming from no where to being a somebody. This proves that anything is possible with determination and hard work. We must all learn from this girl.
    Go girl.

  22. # 12, that’s a very interesting observation. Boxing remains a dangerous sport. Think of the late Felix Bwalya, Lot Mwale and Muhammad Ali. I think in a civilised world like this, people should not be put in a ring to batter each while others cheer on.

  23. What about the calibre of Esthers’s opponents? I sense something fishy! And where was the fight? At some remote eating place. It is time Esther was matched against real female boxers or we shall continue arranged fights.

  24. #44, Most sports are dangerous, and the pipo taking part in these sports are aware of the dangers. pipo are not forced to take part, but they take part because they love the sport.

  25. Well, while most sports could be described as dangerous, they usually go with penalties for inflicting injuries on another and such are usually taken as accidents in most cases, of course in others, they could be malicious. Boxing however, is all about beating and savagery. It then boils down to the way people are expected to score.

  26. Well done Esther Phiri though i dread the time you will reach the category of the likes of Laila Ali. I think start thinking of quiting as you have done enough for us. Thumbs up.

  27. If this was a man , the story would have been different, most male bloggers seem to be aganist Esther ‘s choice of sport. but bear in mind she know the dangers. All we can do is to wish her well and hope that nothing happens to her.

  28. Congrats to Esther. My disappointment was on the venue. It looked like a motel in one of our shanty compounds. It was a disgrace to watch a percieved important title fight at a ramshackle of a venue. My other disappointment was her opponent. To me she was not even supposed to fight Esther. She didn’t even land any punch.

  29. Congrats Esther but too much of white skin, try Muhammed Alis daughter epo ukalekela na boxing.Baby gal u hav med alot of money so kabiyeko ku skulu or invest in something sensible, remember u got a child to take care of

  30. Imwe bana ba nfiti!! MU uza munzanu ati Keep lifting the flag in doing what is hazardous to her health and her future family zo-ona? Simungamuchiteko advise munzanu asiya vausilu shuwa?

  31. Iwe Esther kwasila manje. Ufunika ku balako bana ka. can you compare the ntwane with that violent sport? Awe mama, enough is enough. Better to stop whilst at the top, ka.

  32. Greetings ba bululu. Congratulations Esther, some men on this blog should get it clear. Esther is the greatest sports success story to happen to our country in years, maybe even ever todate lol. Why do you guys want her to fight a sister? Some of these women can throw major combos. Mwandi Esther continue ku pamela ba Zungu, atleast it teaches most Zambians to loose some of their inferiority complexes. The easier the fights the better her health and life after retirement. For now Esther have NM put a third of your earnings into a retirement fund with a bond option. Finish your education, and find a God FEARING man, namalizya apa.May God bless you bloggers, remember to tell the NCC to reduce the number of presidential years to 4 a term hahaha.
