Zambia National Broadcasting Cooperation (ZNBC) Director General Joseph Salasini has been sent on leave to pave way for investigations into alleged mismanagement of funds at the institution.
Government has since instructed the Auditor General’s office to probe the handling of revenue at the institution and present the Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services with a comprehensive report.
Information and Broadcasting Services Minister Lieutenant General Ronnie Shikapwasha announced this when he addressed ZNBC unionized workers in Lusaka today.
Lt Gen Shikapwasha told the workers to assist the Auditor General’s office with adequate information that will help with investigations and advised the workers to be patient as the matter is being investigated.
The minister said government needs to have a clear picture of issues that are being faced by the corporation.

I hope this guy didnt testfy aginst Dora, since she resigned, alot of pipo have etiher resigned or forced leave. The Dora wave is uopn us.
What has he done? I thought he was doing a lot for MMD propaganda?
another one bites the dust
Some are sacred cows. It has to take the POST to have them being investigated. This Salasini must have pourd some Parafin on Shikas.
We are watching very closely
Zambia, the real Afrika – no dull moments.
Difficulties of top jobs in Zambia. Very risky indeed. May make it hard to attract right persons to apply.
ahhh imwe…znbc is rubbish who cares. with or without this guy znbc is still rubbish.
Now I see the PICTURE. There was a strike at ZNBC just last month over pay rise. Is there a connection?
Innocent until proven guilty!
LETS WAIT AND SEE
very few in Zambian management aint corrupt.
Lelo parafin
IMWE BANTU SIMULAPILA KUBA KANSI? NDIPO CHIMBOKAILA AZAZULA NABA “SOME OF US”.cry the beloved country, what have we done to deserve such kind of life in zed where everyone wants to reap where one has not sown? just been readiong bad news involving ministry of home affairs….corruption fo breakfast, lunch and dinner, plz tapalapata, behave!!!!! ba znbc say “it will show when yu pay”
hope he’s not just being victimised, but at zed, anaba!
Too bad for him, he has really tried to please MMD, but time has come for him to be scrutinised. This a warning to all boot lickers every thing has time.
Ok and I wish Mr Salasini well in this case.
Ati lelo ni lelo, today is today, are the fimo fimos are scared like rats, they thought they are untouchables.
Hypocrites!!! What is George Kunda still doing?
I hope this did not stem from ZNBC workers wanting a pay raise.
Ba Lt we need some picture kaili, its almost Wkend and nothing till now please do something,
Or have you run out of film or memory on your cameras.
what’s wrong with znbc,yesterday dora former znbc,2day DG salasini-znbc,2moro shikapwasha-znbc,tilindile!
Lo, why was Dora not sent on forced leave pending investigations? Why are ZNBC workers being encouraged to testify in this case while civil servants who testified against Sillier are still being pursued. It’s becoming a gotcha debate.
one down 4 to go
An innocent man sent to the slaughter. Mr Salasini I feel for you but you know understand why some of us cannot serve in that country in any capacity – no job security. Politicians will always be politicians – they have to find scapegoat to be seen to be doing something. Ain’t they the ones who have caused ZNBC, Times, Daily Mail management to toe party line or else? A new DG will come but same old politics. Isn’t the the Board the right institute to discipline the DG if he really has mishandled funds? And yes I agree with monalisasyndorme on why Dora was not sent on forced pending investigations. If you are in the inner you are fine, if not you are damned.
one wonders actually why znbc should be crying for money when they are busy taxing us for what they call better TV. we all thot they will start having good revenue from that angle plus the usual grant from our pay as earn to RB govt.
why is it that all the tops chaps in gvt or state firms are busy planing plundering or plundering. This is why Sata says its sangwapooo govt after levy past way .
The problems @ “better TV” are beyond Salasini & akulu mpuno knows that. The problem is the Politicians especially in the Mwadya Mweka Daddy. That Institution needs overhaul workforce recruitment,There is no or little professionalism there.
Pleas donors can you fund the post to protect your donations. They are digging up a lot that RBs GRZ is trying to sweep under the carpet.
Imagin if we did not have the post ? these guys would be stealing out right. It seems FJTs day are not far off. Cry my beloved Zambia.
Wow! one thing we do enjoy in Zambia is freedom of information. Zimbabweans had this stripped from them a while back. With that said it is good he MMD is self imploding like the Republican party here. All we need is a third competitive News paper in Zambia and we are set, like a great meal using all the fine china. Nothing more to add but this. Who is this saint character on this blog with Greek paganistic ideas?
Better TV wen u pay they will………….
the burly gave himself a ka ma K700m loan without board approval while denying workers a salary increment blaming credit crunch.
This is what happens when you act like a ka kada ka ba MMD.
They wont think of you when times are hard. Sorry mudala but chimbokaila ya ku gwila !!!!
Poor Salasini – he started well. Now the workers want a pay raise due to crunch, wc they are feeling but then does znbc have adequate resources???? Yes how much do we all contribute to better tv and compare what you pay for tv license in europe …. anyway, he may have been long on the list of “to go” and this strike has just triggered the nonsensical probe – remember the former DG who also went in a similar manner????? Anyway, I hope the workers now realise what a stupid thing it was to go to minister when they could have waited after all ZNBC the money maynot be there for real. Why cant employees strike for other work conditions including better homes. If you saw where some of these francis ndovis live kuti wadabwa!!!! ZNBC is a flag carrier – it needs help!!!!! from all of us…..
ZNBC is a flag carrier we should support it. Salasini is just a scapegoat – they have been thinking of getting rid of him anyway – they did it to his predecessors – he is not different/ it is now time! Meanwhile the workers must learn to use proper channels of communication… and demand for proper remunerations such as better accomodation allowance and better rented-for homes. You shld see where some of these TV presenters/news readers live!!!! Salasini had brought some sanity to the workers and supported them ….Shame Salasini. You brought better tv principles (hard to implement given tradt of znbc of avoiding unza graduates), you brought mnet partnership and gave meaning to economics of broadcasting.
Imwe bantu ni Jealous chabe
this man has built an excellent aprtment building nxt to lk golf club using bank loans and both his salary and that of the wife from USA. he payed the price by living in a rented servants qter in rhodes park and woodlands for nearly 5years… pls spare this man……from the ROT comming from some people who are just jealous and lazy and extravagance
We do not care about the mansion and his stay in the servants quarters, he needs to explain how they have failed to improve that ZNBC, after collecting peoples K3pins for a while now. And they need not only explain, they should pay back, too bad his mansion alone wont be enough, the wife and the kids probably need to get more loans to pay back,
Bati Pa Zed…
