Bandits steal yet another motor cycle in Chongwe

Armed robbers have stolen a motor cycle worth over K20 million belonging to Microfinance in Chongwe district.

The incident comes barely a month after another motor cycle worth K19.5 million belonging to the Department of Agriculture in the district was stolen at gun point.

Microfinance District Project Manager Rashidull Alam confirmed the theft of the motor cycle to ZANIS in Chongwe today.

Mr. Alam said the motor cycle, registration number ABR 8724, was snatched from one of his officers along Chalimbana road around 11:00 hours yesterday.

He also disclosed that the robbers, who were armed with a pistol, also stole K2 million cash, project money that the officer was carrying.

Mr. Alam disclosed that armed bandits stole another motor cycle in Chongwe less than a month ago,from an officer working for the department of agriculture.

The motor cycle was bought for the department by Japan International Agency (JICA) for use under the Food Crop Diversification Support Project.

  10. The pipo robbing motor cycles could be the same and their days are numbered. The local pipo know these thieves who are kiling development inthe area. The locals should report those thieves to the police.
