Dance diva Rozalla Miller has pledged her support to the Wilmslow-based charity All Star Kids by becoming their latest high profile patron.

Rozalla, who was born in Zambia, and brought up in Zimbabwe, was catapulted into the world club scene when her famous dance anthem ‘Everybody’s Free’ stormed the UK charts in 1991.

Now the new ambassador for All Star Kids, Rozalla says she is privileged to be a part of the work that the charity is doing to help make a positive change to the lives of children in Africa by providing a safe place to live, health care and education.

Commenting on her new role, Rozalla says: “As somebody who was born in Zambia and raised in Zimbabwe, the fact the charity works in those two countries made it of great interest for me to get involved. Also I’ve always had a view that education is the most important thing in any child’s life.

“I will be raising it’s profile wherever possible in the UK, and whenever I travel to see my family in Zambia and Zimbabwe I will make sure I do whatever possible to visit and see some of the children the charity is helping.

“Everyone is aware of how difficult things are in Zimbabwe, but beyond this, having grown up in both countries I think I will understand some of the cultures and national characteristics, which in turn will help me be a better patron.”

Chris Clarke, Chairman of All Star Kids, says: “It’s fantastic to have Rozalla on board, she is totally committed to do anything she can to help the charity.”

“We are certainly privileged to have her support and we look forward to seeing the difference we can make together to the lives of children in Africa, helping to ensure that every child grows up in a safe, productive and loving atmosphere where they can reach their full potential.”[quote]

The charity, which supports and offers hope and an education to street children in Africa, also saw international runway model Rosemary Chileshe and Sky World News reader Lukwesa Burak become patrons earlier this year.

All Star Kids was originally founded in 2000 as the Andy Cole Children’s Foundation. More recently the charity has re-launched and has changed its name to “All Star Kids” to better reflect its focus – on children – the real stars who they work with.

All Star Kids has launched a number of innovative fundraising projects to help support its work including a search to donate website at www.fightthefamine.com and a video sharing website for all charities at www.madtube.org. 1. “whenever I travel to see my family in Zambia and Zimbabwe”

I think “Rhodesia” would be a better term to use.

  2. Yeah, Zim at its best she was zimbabwean , now that it rots to its roots she is also a zambian, hahahahah …. Zed for life.

  3. It does not matter what she wants to be Zed or Zim, what matters is the fact the she is willing to take her time and help the needy.

  4. In the early 90 she was hot stuff …she did the soundtrack for the movie carlito’s way staring al pacino and sean penn, this year oscar winner for best actor. This movie was big!!But she openly declared she was Zimbabwean…much to the dissapointment of many of us Zambians, because we all knew she was Zambian and had just gone to Zimbabwe for school. She dumped Zambia at her finest hour!!

  5. Wums like her remind me of Robbie Earnshaw, and, yeah Whitley born in Zambia but pretend not to have heard of Zambia.

  6. Ama Zambians nishani so ama jerassi? Only one positive comment (#6 Ba Honey) out of 9 so far!

    Nigerians are proud of Seal
    Kenyans are proud of Obama
Jamaicans are proud of Colin Powell, Patrick Ewing, etc…

so why can’t Zambians just be proud of their “national exports” and big up Rozalla and her achievements???

  7. #11 Nine Chale you should have heard the interviews this girl gave in her prime. Remember Samatha Mumba (pronounced mamber here), she never wanted anything to do with having a Zambian father. We have a few but hey! You can not blame them can you. Who would want to be associated with Zambia?

  8. 3RqU I understand your point but home is home. It is sad that one should sell out their roots in exchange for fame and fortune. The honey-making bees suddenly turn into angry hornets and attack their base! What a paradox!
It’s a free world and we can all make our decisions the way we feel but for me, it’s ZAMBIA for life, even in Germany.

  9. Nine Chale, the “exports” you mention are proud of their roots. Why should we be happy when they deny theirs? Kulabalolesha fye. Go Amayenge!!!!

  10. Nine Chale cheers man! Give me Matete everyday. The man who pruodly lifted his green flag when representing Zambia. Give me Denzel Washington everyday or ba Moggie Freeman, people who have openely associated themselves with Africa. Not this Primadona! I would not give her a visa if she wanted to come to Zambia unless she had a Zim one! lol!

  11. I remember those interviews number 12. The first one from her farewell on the old TVZ in 1981 on Joy Makulu’s Fashionomics after closing with Diana Ross’ “Upside Down” when she said she was leaving for Zim’s for good.

A few years later I was in England and saw an article in Sky magazine in which she quoted as being from Zim’s.Rozzy, they are a lot of us still alive and remember so please spare us.

  12. first of all , Thanks to #11 Nine Chale, i know some pipo dont want to be associated with their roots , but we cant change the facts. I believe two wrongs dont make a right. Rozala had her reason then thats why she didnt want to be associated with Zed, but this time she is more that happy to help the needy, it has nothing to do with what ever is happening in ZIm

  13. Imwe the Father was Zim Mother from the Milstead family of Zed, so she can be Zim or Zedian if she wants.

Aba ni ba muselela kwa kaba…….. Shushu end of story!!!!!!

  14. I left Zed many years ago , but i still feel i owe it to my mother land, it has made me who i am to day, those of you imitations, shame on you. There are some who came here and after a year, they pretend they can not speak the language, shame on them. timakamba , tulalanda,

  15. Ba Honey #19, Thats the problem mama. Tamufwaya ukunfwa ama facts. In fact i have even encouraged her to go and fwenkula! So Finshi ndufyenye? Its like pleading for a father who says you are not his child! Teti!!

  16. #20 Ba Honey, Now that was well said. thats what we want to hear. We will support you when you decide to be a pop Diva also. Not ifyo mwachilalanda pali abena ntwenu…Rozalla fimo fimo!

  17. Ba Honey you got yourself in a Sphaggetti junction there. Ba Moze I met a Zambian who after living in England for 11 years claimed to have forgotten icibemba. This is someone who came here ifyama effort mufiziba ka? Yet the man could not speak icibemba or any other Zambian language. As for Rozalla, on your bike honey. Off you go! We only had, like ba Moze said amayenge and now fyani! Ba JK, K`millian shani filya, Amoba shani uko, General Ozzy, banani uko imwe! Ine ifima CD fulu! Zed yeka yeka.

  18. Ba 3RqU, if someone wants help the needy, are you going to say no cos they said they didnt want to be associated with Zed, no you can t, Now you see they are coming back. No one is forcing them, all we can do is to welcome them with open hands. simple. I think they have realised the mistakes they made.

  19. #26 I am going to welcome her yes, providing she keeps her Irish or Zim passport and she doesn`t make a meal of it all. Ba Honey we have to be careful, Rozalla can make more than what she gives in the UK. If you know what I am talking about, you will agree it only takes Thesun to publish one photograph of a building with her surrounded by certain Zed children for her to make £50 000.

  20. #28 Ba 3RqU, but this is what we want, i know you have the JKs, K’million and so on, but do these pipo do any concerts for Charity, ? i want ot go home and see just what these so called Celabrates are doing for the needy pa Zed, just look ath the muzungu here, All the time they help raise millions of pounds for the poor nations and those in needy here in the uk. Comic Relief, Man.

  21. I think some of you are just sour towards people because they don’t conform to the zambian pige on ho le stereotype which you think is inherently zambian. Just because someone doesn’t try to come off as a mo ze gator sound alike wearing a zambian scarf while smel ling of be er then they are scared of their roots. Unless someone has vehemently denied being associated with Zambia then you are in no position to judge or condemn them, just because someone doesn’t cry ba zambia at every moment doesn’t make them unzambian. You can’t judge people’s roots based on your own standards because not everyone shares your background

  22. I think some of you are just sour towards people because they don’t conform to the zambian stereotype which you think is inherently zambian. Just because someone doesn’t try to come off as a kaponya sound alike wearing a zambian scarf while smel ling of alcohol then they are scared of their roots. Unless someone has vehemently denied being associated with Zambia then you are in no position to judge or condemn them, just because someone doesn’t cry ba zambia at every moment doesn’t make them unzambian. You can’t judge people’s roots based on your own standards because not everyone shares your background

  23. Ba Honey I meant her making money for herself just to appear in Thesun. As for Zambian celebs, I feel sorry for them, piracy, ukulyamo, nicekeleko? Any one? Ba honey it`s not easy. If you have a decent job, chances are you live a better life than most of them. Trust me!

  24. Looking some posts above you believe it is reason why one should not comment on stuff unless they know what they are talking about. Rosalla gave a lot of interviews in her prime. If you did not listen to them shut your gob! “Simples”! Compare the market dot com! lol!

  25. #33Ba 3RqU, Piracy is a problem evrywere, the muscians must play more live shows, this affects other big stars all over the world. Look at the stars like Beyonce, Madona even Jacko., they are always touring. The internat has made it imposible for them to prevent piracy.

  26. #35 Wasn`t talking about you. If you look at the posts above you will see one. Barbecue mama for the weekend ine iwe! Got Tilapia, T Bone, ama sosikisi, ifimbombo blonde wandi naipika, awe sure kulabako Zed panono we!

  27. Its true some people dont even know who this Rozalla miller is. If she didnt want to be associated with zambia then kaya che, because at her wedding she had her wedding royce covered in a zambian flag so ninshi mulelanda. jealousy is the root of hate ne fyashal. So lets give praise where its due, by the way she is not just a dancer but a musician. check out her music. she is just trying to help.

  28. #41 some sense at last we have too many men on here that rival marketeers when it comes to mulomo. These people do’t know her personally all they hold on to is a grudge from a miscrontrued newspaper article. Rozalla has done more than these blogging simpletons can ever achieve if they were even given 5 lifetimes to live. For example some charlatan on here is accusing people that he hasn’t even spoken or even know to and claiming they refuse to be associated with zambia. What have you even done for Zambia if we may ask? blog and b!tch like women on menopause?

  29. Mmm ok i do not know her but if she is doing good work for mother Zambia hats off. How true is it that one can forget icibemba for being away for just 11 years? i work with a Zambian girl here who claims not to understand bemba coz she stayed in America for 5 yrs she pronunces her bemba name in English as Chance not Chansa. Awe i am proud Zambian and will never ever wear a T Shirt written proudly south African. Yes proudly African i can. Rozalla i will not comment on you. Ba Moze, Ba Honey, Jamaco, Nine Chale 3RqU Slumdog, Kadoyo and the rest shani? whats for the weekend?

  30. Good job you are doing Rozalla. None will be taking away from all that you have done for the people you have associated with. Blessed is the hand that gives. God richly bless you

  31. Cool Running. Ala lwalinya. Ba chongololo nifyofine. With the one I met here when I told him that I was missing bondwe he asked whether bondwe nikulya ukumena ifipushi. And this is a guy who has been away from Zambia for only five years & to make matters worse akuliile ku Chikola in Chingola.

  32. #..46..i agree with you..even if you away for 30 years you cant forget… whick kool runnings happening, was in the melville one last month for a party..the ragga dance hall was crazy

  33. #46 Kool runnings. bwino, mwapolini nayimwe? Its true and funny because i know a lot of people like that but with time you learn to ignore them. I will be going for a braai at a friends place tomorrow tonight is not planned as yet. Hope you have it good yourself

  34. Its sad so many are missing the point here, the charity is working with Kids in Zambia. Anyone who helps raise the profile of such work – providing education, love and care to our children should be commended not critisised. As for if she’s Zambian or Zimbabwean – the charity works in both places so does it matter – I’ve not found any sources online where she says she is not Zambian so it seems hype over nothing!! lol

Good on you Rozalla and good on All Star Kids!

  35. Nine Chale, you forgot that even Senagalese are proud of AKON. Now these Zambians with ‘duo nationality’, it seems the numbers are increasing. God help us. Twasanswa. Palast tukasanga ati bonse muli bene fyalo. Am worried.

  36. I don’t care were she feels at home.Your upbringing always follows its roots. What I want to know is what was that title of her song that was a big hit in Zim in the 80’s, it was a ballad and it was a hit on the Lyons Maid Top 20. Can anyone help with the title of her song.Truly a devoted zim/rhodie nostagia fan.

  37. I believe that a foreclosures can have a major effect on the applicant’s life. Mortgage foreclosures can have a Seven to a decade negative influence on a client’s credit report. The borrower who have applied for a mortgage or any kind of loans for that matter, knows that a worse credit rating can be, the more challenging it is for any decent bank loan. In addition, it might affect a borrower’s capacity to find a decent place to let or rent, if that turns into the alternative homes solution. Great blog post.
