The Triangle of Hope is based on the Malaysian economic development model.
Mr. Banda said the implementation will be done in the next few months because all the necessary regulations have already been put in place for the exercise.
He was speaking at State House, when he met students and pupils who had attended the Commonwealth Conference in Malaysia recently.
Mr. Banda said government has already set aside 2000 hectares of land in Lusaka South for the programme.
He also said Zambia has a lot to learn from Malaysia’s development successes.
Mr. Banda said Malaysia is one of the case studies of a once poor nation that has now become one of the fastest developing countries in the world.
He explained that Malaysia has developed because of the hard work and commitment of its citizens.
President Banda is optimistic that Zambia can also develop if it’s citizens work hard.

triangle of rubbish!!!!!… arrrest maureen n her pple
How can Zambians be expected to work hard when the nation’s resources are being plundered and stolen by the top shameless and crooked leaders. Mr Banda don’t pretent that all is well, just explain your involvement in these thefts.
**yawns**
eh eh RB has resurrected
Thumbs up for Malasia but pa Zed, ni “Triangle of NO Hope fimofimo.” Where is the capacity? Ukukopa fye is not enough.
Iwe RB ….be serious, how can Zambia develop with your useless and D>U>L>L leadelship. You are there only to plunder. You are so selfish people who dont think about national development. Your friends put the interests of their country first but you , first you want to steal all our money through hefty salaries. Just shut up.
Publish the report on how you will run the program and we will support you when it shows you commitment. Do not make us leave on hope on paper make it happen.
So he has woken up! wow!!
why do u people like criticizing RB and not his advisors since they are the ones who have got eyes and ears on ground!!!!!!!!!!!! Let RB enjoy his leadership, after all you are the ones who sent him into office either by casting or failing to cast your votes PERIOD
New Government, New initiative? So have we abandoned Mwanawasa’s Chinese Economic Zones. When will our gabanament learn the importance of continuity? Yangu we chalo chandi!
#8 u r veri stupid!
Talk about the striking civil servants and not the rubbish you are yapping about you I.D.I.O.T, what a president we have. I think this I.D.I.O.T has a pumpkin representing his head…….
Now you are speaking Mr President RB Banda for I have been writing about Malaysia for a long time on LT and it is nice to note that you have finally taken my message seriously as GRZ. However, I am skeptical on your “Mr. Banda said the implementation will be done in the next few months because all the necessary regulations have already been put in place for the exercise” Mr President for the issue of Educational qualifications on any Presidential and MP candidates has not yet been placed in the NCC Draft Constitution or the new Republican Constitution.
So, Mr President make sure you and your GRZ puts the degrees or Grade 12 Certificate qualification on the above candidates issue in the Constitution for me to see seriousness.

1 Peter 3: 15, 16 + KJV Holy Bible.
Zambia has a lot to learn from Malaysias economic development crap! RB thinks Zambia can learn from anybody…how about coming up with ur own ideas buddy?
We can all talk but very few can do.
Lets wait and see
Good Mr President RB Banda on your “Mr. Banda said Malaysia is one of the case studies of a once poor nation that has now become one of the fastest developing countries in the world. He explained that Malaysia has developed because of the hard work and commitment of its citizens. President Banda is optimistic that Zambia can also develop if it’s citizens work hard.” as this shows that your initial words of looking to Chinese and other foreign investors to develop Zambia were misplaced.
Therefore, continue this your new spirit of being confident in local Zambia investors and hard work by all Zambians as the only group and way Zambia can be developed including your stopping to tour foreign countries by letting VeeP go.

Triangle of crap
#15 educate me on this triangle of hope thing because am clueless.
17 dalitso greetings. Firstly, I am amazed that your name sounds as if it is for a male and yet you are a female, could you explain what happened and what the name means in this lady context?
Secondly, Triangle of Hope is a Zambian Plan which is centred on Vision , Strategy, Action plan where focus is in strategy and action plan making. Malaysia aims to be fully developed by 2020 and works on 5 yr plans which are focusses on Industrialisation by locals , private-public partnerships, and a little FDI with the following challenges:National unity, confidence, democracy, moral & ethics, tolerance, science & technology, caring culture, economic justice, and prosperity.
I hope this helps.
Have a blessed day and later.

You can’t take a system that works with malays and assume just because it works for them it will work for Zambia. Each country needs it’s own bespoke economic iniatives not where you see others doing well you think if you copy then you will do well as well. Immitators always fall short of innovator. The malaysians have one of the asia’s strongest economies because of their oil and gas plus their vast manufacturing industries. What RB need to do is take a scoop from the plethora of zambian economic brains and find out what the best model would be for our own unique situation.
The Zambian Govt is full of sophisticated terminologies that please donors and leave Zambians amazed but at the end of the day there are no tangible results to show case those fancy terminologies. So don’t be surprised, nothing new here.
maestro, what is this triangle all about?
Next time it will be the square of hope, then the circle of hope, then the rectangle of hope, then the hexagon of hope, then the octagon of hope, and Zambians will still be amazed but there won’t be any results .
Triangle of Hope Initiative
Is a strategic initiative for economic development adopted by the Government with the support of JICA with focus on Investment Promotion and Facilitation through:
1. Attract investment from Eastern Asia
2. Political will and integrity, Civil Service Efficiency and the Private Sector Dynamism.
3. Make Zambia a centre of excellence for Agriculture and agro based industries, Cotton and cotton based industries, education, medical and health
4. Information, Communication and Technology, Tourism, Banking and Finance
5. Enabling regulations or laws.
It is modeled on the Malaysian 10 years of national unity, political will, civil service efficiency and private sector dynamism.
SOURCE: OECD
17 dalitso and 20 Musimbi, Ithought I succeded in submiting my ealier comment but it appears it did no get through due to trouble at LT.
However, 22 mule has provided the necessary data. I will just add that Malayia works on 5 yr plans, just like we had I think under KK UNIP GRZ, and her Malaysia model started in about 1991 when its then president had 9 challenges to work on in order to make his country a fully develop country by 2020.
Malaysia promotes Industrialisation by locals through private-public arrangements with a little FDI.
The triangle of hope is a Zamban GRZ thingy as a copy of what the EAST (e.g.,Malaysia, Thailna, Japan, etc.) has done.
I hope this and the comments by others hlp.

17 dalitso , I have always thought that you name was for males only, please explain to me why it s for a lady like you? I am just curious for I have noted this for the first time from people of Eastern Zambia.

#9 go to chambishi and you will see what is happeneing. if you as an individual are handicapped or incapable of running several projects, it is not the same with the rest of humanity. as expected the ignorant in zambia speak the loudest, a case of empty tins making the loudest noise?
thank you 22 and 23 for enlightening all of us. that is as it should be, if you do not understand something it does not mean that the other person is wrong. ask and you shall be guided.
26 Less talk thanks and you are welcome. Sleeping time here people and take care there.

i am getting convinced that rb is too smart for this generation of lazy people who do not even want to read a novel, let alone a business book.
they do not even read newspapers for themselves but rely on others to shimika to them and they become “champions” to spread the word. i have a feeling rb came at just the right time.
one old uneducate is embittered to have found himself faced with another smart, educated leader at the 2008 polls after consecutive defeats at the hands of another leader who passed through the corridors of education. his leadership qualities are limited to manipulation and telling sweet lies to the gullible. not in this dot.com age!
#18 what makes you assume that the president works alone? one would have to be very stupid to imagine that you can run government programmes alone.
#29 you must have the comprehension skills of a mouth breathing kunyu retard , where did I say he works alone? Go back to school and reread gateway to grade 7 maybe english won’t be a jigsaw puzzle to you until then I suggest you desist from addressing me in your lifetime.
Less talk 28, you are among the very few people who have come out wanting to know what is going on not just commenting for the sake of it. I applaud you. I’m also grateful for #22 Mule for bringing out the info so that people would know what RB is talking about. But as #4 Katwishi has aksed there is need to equally concentrate on training people at masters and phd levels so that research is enhanced. On that score, even regulation to enusre that the trained do not just end up going to the country called Diaspora to start making noise without providing solutions. Less Talk, you can also be participating on another blog which to a certain level has objective discussions, that is Zambian Economist. It may not be perfect but it has a lot of positives.
#30….just thought you would be interested to take a look at this website…www.ZambiaBlogTalkRadio,com.i remember discussing with you ghana`s diaporans investing back home.
thank-you #22, #23 for the data, i hope for the love of Zed it works out. #24 i think my name is unisex but more than anything its a pseudo kinda like most of the bloggers here.
Awe ine tapali ifyo nalalanda pantu i’ve got no thorough idea about the subject above. It could be worse, the moment i read the word “triangle” fimo fimo it dated me back to those days in primary school when we were learning about shapes in mathematics.
Mangande could have implemented such a Malaysian model, not that thick boded and minded RB.
DIASPORAN says:
” June 20, 2009 at 7:19 pmtriangle of rubbish!!!!!… arrrest maureen n her pple ”
I agree, it feels very gimmicky to try and replicate Malaysia’s development model.
Zambia will develop when the government starts to sit down and do the basics – an agricultural development policy, and industrial development policy, an infrastructure policy, and starts funding this development with Zambia’s natural wealth.
Anything that would link local SMEs to these MFEZ zones is a good thing. But it does not create jobs the way agriculture and infrastructure can. For urban areas it is a good model, but for the country as a whole it is not.
RB is a hopeless character. So dont expect anything good from what he is talking about,he is a bad carpenter who will always blame his tools.
#26, hello? I am not from the East, but Dalitso could mean “blessing” therefore could be used as a unisex name. Names like Mulenga, Katai, etc may sound masculine, but girls use them too. The same in this country names like Francis, Micheal are used by girls as well. Hope this helps.
look at the stomach remove this rb frm power please people are suffering
When Mahathir Mohammad started the Triangle of Hope Development Model, he also enacted death penalty as punishment for plunder. Banda wants to implement the same program in reverse and hope to yield the same results, silly. Besides, why can’t he come up with a workable original model of his own? That man in seriously bankrapt of any new ideas, sad indeed.
Ok hope it works
**yawns** trinangle of NO hope thank you Katwishi for understanding
Triangle of hope…..hope he knows what he’s talking about
zambians have always been hard working people, its the tweno’s who misuse their tax money for shopping spree’s, holiday trips, birthday presents for the already rich people, ball dances in expensive hotels, medical treatments abroad… etc etc… who are to blame for the poverty people suffer from despite hard work. IN SHORT the lazy people in zed has big bellies from misusing other peoples hard earned money!!! If monies would be shared equally everybody would have comfortable lives.
This makes a good move, well done RB for the first time
I am absolutely sure Banda is oblivious of half the things he is talking about. Further, with lieutenant subjects like Tetamalilo, Mlongoti and Shikapwasha showering him with praise of his new “glittering clothes”, he is soldiering on kumawa chintako ngako, mwana wa kwitu! Zwangendaba would be impressed!
This is th fist time most Zambians are hearing about this so called Triangle of Hope Development Model of akulu mphuno. Why did he not take the liberty of explaining it to Zambians before telling them an an impromptu news conference that he has selected a piece of land where to plant this “Triangle of Hope Development Model” of his?
The Triangle of Hope initiative has some very catchy words which need to be translated into action. Words such as Attracting investment, political will, and integrity, Civil Service Efficiency and the Private Sector Dynamism, Making Zambia into a centre of excellence for Agriculture and agro based industries, Cotton and cotton based industries, education, medical and health, use and expansion of Information and Communication Technology capacity, Tourism, Banking and Finance, Enabling regulations or laws.
With the levels of nepotism inherent in Zambia, will it be possible to recruit the right calibre of personnel to stir the initiative to fruition? What about the party cadres? will they be left out for posterity’s sake?
Triangle of sex ,works better than this crapy Triangle of hope.Dora is a good example.Let the truth be told.stop hiding in this triangle of hope.
And how will the triangle fit in with vision 2030? Is it part of the vision or a new development program? And if it is a different program, what happens to 2030? The government should learn to share data with its citizenry. A lot of zedians have no idea what govt’s plans are. I wonder if we would even have found out about this if those kids from unza had not visited rb….
# 13 Maestro son of an Undereducate, you are so screwed up by your plunderer sponsors that you think you own this blog.Your comments are always out of context and now you want explain the crap that is RB’s triangle of nonsense to us because you are fed by him.Like the devil you even chip in a few Bible verses. You freemasonist will never successed in screwing peoples heads. We know that RB’s pronouncements are empty so don’t lecture us.
LT why moderate? You are too srewed up by your MMD!
35 dalitso thanks for everything for I have taken note.
40 Kapupuleti greetings and thanks. Us Tonga Tribe people have such unisex names as Mutinta, but for dalitso this has been my first time to note it hence my asking.
Anyhow, great stuff and let us see how this triangle of hope will take us forward into development in the next 2 an half years remaining for this term of office for the MMD as GRZ.
Be blessed.

despite all the comments above, non has questioned RBs understanding of the development model especially when he says that “government has aquired 2000 ha of land in lusaka south for the programme.” what’s that got to do with the core tenets of the model such as national unity, economic justice, enhancement of a robust private sector, tacklilling corruption etc.. One can not help feeling that this attempt is doomed to fail from the outset.
Triangle of no hope!
Now that our beloved President RB Banda is not travelling, I am wondering how president HH leader of the PF-UPND PACT’ss “In fact, the UPND/PF government would consider giving Rupiah an Ambassadorial job because he is more interested in travelling. So we will look at him and see how we can consider him for an Ambassadorial appointment,” Hichilema said before bursting into laughter reported by the POST will be done.
HOPE.

The problem with most of Zambians is being prophets of doom! They never think forward, all they want to do is complain, complain and complain. These things start at perosnal level. Most of the bloggers in the diaspora are complete failures who think by rushing to go and work in foregn countries they will better their lives. But they end up as plate cleaners with all their degrees and other qualifications. How do you expect the country to devep with such altitude? I have made tremedous contributins on my own by setting up a cmpany from scratch and now emplyee 150 Zambians including graduates. I have made a tangible contribution unlike some of you who want to reduce yourselves to work for other countries. Come back home and make your own contribution! RB is right!! Work hard in your country!
#59, Mthangatambeta: I hear you! My only hope and wish is that the government and/or people who run it can be as hardworking and honest has you probably are. As you probably already know, most Zambians are hardworking and want to be part of the process of developing our country. However, what frustrates most, relatively young and educated Zambians, is the bureaucracy and the unwillingness of our leaders to change outdated systems, !! I know, you probably going to say: “well, if I can do it, anybody else can!” But that is not necessarily true. In any developed country/economy, leaders started with well thought out and coherent economic policies, then got to work and did the heavy lifting—SYSTIMATIC IMPLEMENTATION. Just taking about these things will never get us anywhere!!!
#59 look at it the other way. This is the first time this Triangle thing is being mentioned and he has not even taken the time to fully explain what it entails. Look at all the things going on ..hearses, best home, tender scandals, strikes with no solutions….. and the way they have been handled, does it give you or anyone of us reason to be optimistic?
is there anything good from MMD. If you cant resolve just heakth department issues how can you resolve national issues….do you remember kaunda’s heaven on earth?? even they tried to explain it with documentaries although it was crappy. n the 1st thing that came to mind was another cult thing…so its necessary they explain or face criticism
#59, u r not in zed, don’t be dramatic.
This Malasian Triangle needs to be explained to us. Where can we find documentation on this? The Malasian model was centred on developing rural agriculture for greatest take-off impact. Our model will be based in Lusaka south. How are these 2 the same models?
Typical Zambian style — copycats. No originality. Is it true that RB has a degree in economics? The country fared better in the hands of a lawyer than under the so called economist.
64 Blue Blood greatings. On your “Is it true that RB has a degree in economics? ” The old man has a degree in Economic History. Economic History and Economics are two very different field sof study. I hope this above explanation clears the air.

Anybody can copy but it’s what you do with the model you have copied. Another money stealing scheme for RB, Maureen & shame to say the MMD top studges like Shikapwasha, Kunda, Teta all *****s who are serving the interests of their own families. Stealing is a norm is Zed it has become a disease with no antidote. All the agencies meant to fight crime perpetrate the most henious of crimes to the Zambian people. How can we expect justice when cops, prosecution including the nchito brothers have found a loop whole to abuse the authority. They are untouchabe.
They are pursuing other when they too need to reflect of the scam they called an airline. Zambians we have accepted stupidity & mediocre leaders for far too long. it’s time we put an end to this by voting for real change
HOW CAN A MONKEY URINATE AT THE PRESIDENT FOR THE FIRST TIME IN ZAMBIA AND IN THE WORLD WHILE HOLDING THE PRESS CONFERENCE. IT HAS NEVER HAPPENED IN THIS COUNTRY, THIS IS THE SIGN THAT PEOPLE ARE NOT HAPPY WITH HIM. HE WAS NOT ADDRESSING ISSUES BUT ATTACKING FRIENDS
ATLEAST OUR PRESIDENT HAS BROCKEN A RECORD IN HISTORY OF ZAMBIA, HE IS THE ONLY ONE THE PRESIDENT WHOM A MONKEY IS URINATED AT
The Goverment needs to also boost the agriculture sector as a priority. I suggest they study the Brazillian economy. It has implemented very succesful economic and agriculture policies that have worked very well
