George Kunda in South Africa for SADC meeting

Share

Vice President George Kunda is representing Zambia at the one day Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) extraordinary summit to discuss the Madagascar political crisis among other matters.

The decision to hold the meeting follows the stance taken by mediators from the international community and the African Union (AU), to suspend discussions with rival parties in Madagascar.

South Africa’s President Jacob Zuma called for an inclusive political dialogue where all rival parties in the Madagascar impasse would be party to finding a solution to end the crisis.

Mr Zuma who is also SADC chairman told the summit that peace in the vast Indian ocean island can only be realised if all parties to the conflict are committed to the process.

He said SADC regrets the current political and security situation situation in Madagascar adding that the foundation to an equitable solution to the crisis should be drawn from the constitutional and democratic principles that are enshrined in SADC treaty and the African union (AU) constitutive act.

The leaders are also expected to decide on the venue for the next SADC summit for the heads of state and government.

The crisis on the vast Indian Ocean island erupted three months ago when President Marc Ravalomanana was ousted by opposition leader Andry Rajoelina in an army-backed takeover that followed weeks of street protests.

  1. George, you are going because we hear that your boss(bakulu mpuno) was so drunk on his recent trip to South Africa that he fell off the stairs and injured his knee. The nation is watching bakulu mpuno. Dont do the same………

  2. Seems the man is guilty and has decided to send chiken george. But this is one day. If it was 4 days it was going to be a different ball game all together. Am sure tandy is not happy that she missed this one. Meanwhile) tune us on the strikes kuma hospital.

  3. Nice on “Vice President George Kunda is representing Zambia at the one day Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) extraordinary summit to discuss the Madagascar political crisis among other matters” for it appears like the knee problem of President RB Banda is a blessing in disguise.

Imagine, even the entourage of Ministers and other GRZ officials that normally accompanies the President RB Banda has not been reported as being with Vice President George Kunda.

I hope Minister of Justice Vice President G. Kunda will now take the responsibility of representing Zambia as the President RB Banda starts attending to home issues especially home tours to meet the suffering Zambians.

  4. This Vice President travelling outside Zambia new initiative by President RB Banda after president HH as leader of the PF-UPND PACT asked Southern Province MMD Minister D. Munkombwe to ask the President RB Banda to start touring Zambia as opposed to touring forign countries when Zambians wanted the President to be at home and visit suffering Zambians is good and will serve the country/Nation a lot of money that is lost in a very big entourage that accompanies the President when ever he goes to foreign countries.

This new approach in President RB Banda can just save the MMD in the 2011 elections as the double-impact from the PF-UPND PACT has taken centre stage across Zambia and sections of Zambian society.

Enjoy your trip Mr Veep G. Kunda.

  5. #3. It is more than true. Thats why Sata challenged Chi shikapwasha to say the truth on the knee issue, He already had info that child abuser was very drunk and missed the step. I wish he can jump off the plane……

  6. Ba #5 iyo mwakwatisha ifya kulemba. To be honest the format of your comments is hard to digest. You may have a point but everything becomes distorted by your lengthy quotations.

  7. Thanks Ba George, even one day we know you bring something interesting than your Oppostion boss RB has done in his 29 trips since January. Can George represent Zambia on all Presidential gatherings, all approves these, is it queen Dora?

  8. Just another money laundering trip. Why can’t the dormant Zambian Embassy represent the country at that one day mmeeting? It’s not as if anything sensible is going to come out of it that the ambassador thee couldn’t be directed to deliver!! Why not fax Kunda’s speech to the embassy in Pretoria to be delivered by Ambassador and save the country money!! It is think lame-brained thinking we are protesting against!!

  9. Mwaendako lelo ba VP,becoz Kamwendo munjila had a minor operation on his knee.Nga ewaileko umwine we know him.

  10. So the red lipped snale has finally got the chance to crawl out of hi hole to represent Zambia outsie. Though that man i not healthy, he is sick not just in the head but also “from the same kaswende aka shilumbulwa pe shina”. He is just going there to change swap tainted blooed for new mulopa, at out cost.

  11. While you are there, don’t forget to check yourself into one of their fancy hospitals for a check up, Mr. Kunda. Follow your leader’s example. After all, there seems to be more Zambian leaders in South African hospitals than South Africans. Whatever happened to leading by example? Our leaders do not want to get treated by their own doctors in their own hospitals, why?

  12. Am sure RB is cursing himself for abdicating the gallivanting duty to his junior, he’s missed a chance to make some more serious per diem money on this journey. So why have we been moaning for him to stay home when in fact he’ll just be in his rocking chair? This man is disaster, the sooner we see his back the better for everyone.

  13. Nsengo; lekeni ba George bololeko amolu RB is very greedy he has no sense of delegation. The man likes ichono no kuchilisha, let him attend to national issues nurses and teachers have been on strike no press confernce what a president. Tenta and mulongoti behave as if ni ba kateka, came 2001 muka chimona viva the pact

  14. And speaking about a convention, MMD must have one if they are to remain in office. The constitution of MMD is very clear on that and this issue of SOLE candidacy is not on. Zambia is a democracy please.
