RB urged to come up with an economic stimulus plan

Share

The Christian Faith Mission Centre (CFMC) has urged President Rupiah Banda to come up with an economic stimulus plan that will help to address the economic problems affecting the nation.

CFMC Pastor-in-Charge Peter Chanda says there is an urgent need for President Banda to announce at tomorrow’s press conference the economic stimulus plan to address the social and economic challenges faced by the country.

Pastor Chanda told ZANIS in an interview in Lusaka today that the Christian community is also expecting President Banda to announce immediate interventions that will address the current industrial unrest as well as the economic crisis in the country.

“The people of Zambia are expecting the President to show that he is still a good caring father for the nation despite the many economic problems that the country is going through,” he said.

Pastor Chanda has since pledged his church’s continued support to government’s efforts aimed at developing the nation.

  1. He does not have an economic stimulus plan for the country, otherwise he could have come up with one already.Let him just announce his resignstion 2moro because he is a failure.May he can do well as a farmer -growing fodya

  2. Where has this pastor been all this time? This is what we have been appealing to the president on this site ever since the economic downturn. Other countries like Germany are now already reaping the fruits of their stimulus plans which they launched as early as January this year.

  3. Pliz Ba President, address the Nurses. Give them what they want. Not all can afford private clinics. People are dying in homes and women are giving birth on the streets in full view of on lookers. My heart bleeds. God help us.

  4. To be honest with you mwebantu bakwa God ine I have lost faith in our readers Ooops! leaders, what I have told myself is to commit our country in the hands of God pantu these people can end up killing me na depression.

  5. I have been away for a while and still things in Zambia are crazy, as a critic of the South African Zuma he is surprisingly meeting the challenge of being president and do not get me wrong shady individuals should not hold office for thier vices spread to vital core departments and peoples of a nation. Where has the stimulus for Zambia been, we are about to bailout Zimbabwe in the region and as much as I want them to also move back on pace; the sheer number of them living abroad will in ten years re-invest and again leave us in the dust. Zambia’s problems are these when Kaunda was in office we let him rule us not govern, our independent will was reduced to nearly 1% Chiluba was looked up to as being a saint; no democratic checks and balances were in place, then there are lazy Zambians.

  6. Matworld my dear,my heart bleeds too.Lets wait for tomorows press confrence.Hnpe isues will be dealt with not giving Dora more favours

  7. On “Pastor Chanda told ZANIS in an interview in Lusaka today that the Christian community is also expecting President Banda to announce immediate interventions that will address the current industrial unrest as well as the economic crisis in the country“, Please follow the example given by the SDA Church through a thread that was posted yesterday instead of being a champion of governing Zambia. The Holy Bible is clear that God gave some to be so and so (e.g., pastor, teacher, etc.) and so leave politics to politicians boss or join them instead of hiding in the church.

Such is why Jesus Christ wiped some traders at the temple for doing wrong things at the House of God.

  8. And thats the other problem! Why use terms like “Stimulus plans”? Thats to hard for RB. The only thing he knows that stimulates him is Dora. Mwalalufyanya. Use simple sentences/terms like: “RB, what do we do next?” or “RB how should we move as a country?” or better still, “when are you stepping down?”.

  9. Habu fimo fimo,i feel you just want to condemn the pastor. The same scripture youve quoted(Ephesians4:11) where is it written that he gave some to be politicians??Whether pastor not he is entitled to comment on things that are vital to the nation

  10. 12.Nizee.

Lets hope someone has advised him to deal with some serious issues that is affecting our nation. It looks like our president tabakwata ama advisors coz the the way he’s leading the country awe sure,How can he re-appoint Dara within 48hours after being cleared?

  11. Matworld
apart from advisers,as a leader what is his vision for the nation?Surely after so many people have died due to strikes he affords to remain mute.My heart hurts to much.

  12. Does he even understand what Economic Stimulus means. Ba Bwezenani work up. Am anxiously waiting to hear what the press shani shani will be all about.

  13. I see nothing wrong with the pastor’s speech, the ordained man is just trying to express his feelings and what he thinks the president has to deal with so that all the pipo mu Zed will benefit.

  14. 17.Nizee

That is why I suggested that we need to be praying for him its like he doesn’t even have a vision for the nation, and the Bible tells us that where there is no vision peaple perish, that is exactly what is happenening in our beloved country.Unfortunately only innocent lives are perishing.God help our nation.

  15. 15 Nizee thanks, On pastors, etc they were given duties to perform as regards the building of God’s church on which Jesus Christ id the foundation.

In light of this, the pastor in this news must concentrate on real church issues as indicated in Matthew 28 (28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen. [KJV Bible]) instead of engaging himself in politics. This is the gist of my message to the pastor above.

Otherwise, Jesus Christ recognised politics as presented in the issues of give Ceaser what belongs to him.

  16. Maestro.

    Greetings my brother.

Mathew chapter 28 vs 19 is not only for the pastors but it also includes you and I my brother.

  17. # 13 Nizee and #22 Matworld you are correct, if you have sheep that are being abused politically, as their shepard are you just going to keep quiet and tell them things will be better in heaven? our brother #13 Habupampu is just looking at it from from one side.

  18. 22 Matworld greetings and thanks. Your “Mathew chapter 28 vs 19 is not only for the pastors but it also includes you and I my brother” is exactly why Minister Ronnie Shikapwasha is a reverand though his ultimatums (may be due to his military background) leave much to be desired.

Check out Revelation 14: 6 to 12 also.

    Keep well and later.

  19. In the old testament things were good because the Prophets got direct information from God. Then the people cried for a King like their neighbours had, because the wanted to sin mostly and fire burnt them with the very first ruler, Saul. Politics need mature repentat souls in them; the kind of people that are good fathers and mothers, remember how our mothers can feed us on Beans and other green related foods and still balance that diet. Yes we can in Zambia change things for the better, it starts with us the people, let us educate our families at home and in the Village what true democracy is so as the vote wisely not for sugar nefitenge. Oh! Na Chibwantu.

  20. The only President who ever did anything for the people of Zambia is Dr. Kenneth Kaunda. Yes, he made some mistakes but Kaunda’s vision was for the betterment of Zambia.

  21. As much as I would like to disagree with you on that one Woman of substance on this one you are trully correct; Kaunda even though being dictatorial gave us some things. Alot of things infact.

  22. Ndiye chani stimulus plan? As soon as Dora the samrt one has explained what it is to me I will give it to all of you who ae asking for a stimulus plan. Meanwhuile, Im going to stimulate Dora. See you at the press conference tomorrow. If I wake up.

  23. Mr namesake is so slow to act…the strike has been going on forever and has done nothing, but as soon as Dora was cleared he reappointed her…what leadership!

  24. It’s hard if not impossible to wean men and women from an acquired way of thinking. The credit crunch, has provided an excuse to alot of bad leaders to under develop their economies and President Banda is no exception.

  25. AND IS YOUR REVOLUTION IS IN THE NAME OF MICHAEL SATA? I WOULD MORE ACCURATELY CALL IT THE END OF HOPE. EVERY LEADER WE EVER HAD WETHER KAUNDA, CHILUBA, OR MWANAWASA (AND THEY ALL KNEW MICHAEL SATA) CONSIDERED SATA A THIRD CLASS LEADER. KAUNDA ONLY THOUGHT OF HIM AS A GOVERNOR. MWANAWASA RESIGNED BECAUSE OF SATA. CHILUBA REFUSED ENTIRELY TO MAKE HIM A SUCCESSOR. AND ALL OF YOU THINK HE IS YOUR MESSIAH, AND YOU DON’T EVEN KNOW HIM. YOU WANT TO MAKE SUCH AN IMPORTANT DECISION WITHOUT SOLID KNOWLEDGE OF THE MAN. WELLCOME TO SOMALIA, SORRY ZAMBIA

  26. AND PLEASE STOP TELLING LIES ABOUT THE STRIKE. MAGARET THATCHER HAD A ONE YEAR STRIKE WITH THE COAL MINERS. ARE YOU PEOPLE SUCH GREEN HORNS THAT YOU CAN’T UNDERSTAND THAT THERE IS A FUNDAMENTAL ISSUE OF MACRO ECONOMIC STABILITY. IF INFLATION GOES TO 500% WHAT WILL A PAY RISE DO FOR THE NURSES. I KNOW YOU ARE ALL CHILDREN BUT DON’T LET THAT INSANE FRED MMEMBE THINK FOR YOU. HE HAS HIS OWN BATTLE WITH DBZ. LET HIM PAY HIS DEBTS. AS FOR DORA, SHE IS FOOLISH TO HAVE GIVEN FRED MMEMBE THE CHANCE TO WHIP UP HYSTERIA AGAINST HER. RB HAS REFUSED TO LET FRED MMEMBE TO CONTROL THE GOVT. RB APPOINTED DORA BECAUSE HE WANTED TO SHOW MMEMBE THAT MMEMBE IS NOT THE PRESIDENT OF ZAMBIA EVEN IF HE RAISES HYSTERIA AGAINST DORA.

  27. 35 NKOLE WA MAPEMBWE UMFWE MILANDU greetings. I always feel refreshed when I read your commnets.

Your “I KNOW YOU ARE ALL CHILDREN BUT DON’T LET THAT INSANE FRED MMEMBE THINK FOR YOU. RB APPOINTED DORA BECAUSE HE WANTED TO SHOW MMEMBE THAT MMEMBE IS NOT THE PRESIDENT OF ZAMBIA EVEN IF HE RAISES HYSTERIA AGAINST DORA.” is great and probably true. However, President RB Banda pulled a fast one. He should have waited for some few days for the air to settle. Anyhow, that is his leadership style also.

On F Mmembe, he is a joker.

  28. 35 NKOLE WA MAPEMBWE UMFWE MILANDU , as for “KAUNDA ONLY THOUGHT OF HIM AS A GOVERNOR. WELLCOME TO SOMALIA, SORRY ZAMBIA” I have written this but will write it again that I will never support honourable PF self-appointed leader Sata MC (Sub B/Standard 4) for Zambian President and not even for Vice President/Prime Minister should such a position become available.

I hope some journalist will one day feature Mr Chiluba FTJ (former President) to tell the Nationa his views on the PF leader as a man.

  29. #37 Maestro, I ADMIRE YOUR PRINCIPLE ON SHI CHILUFYA. I HAVE NOTHING AGAINST HIM. HE IS MY BROTHER, BUT HE WANTS TO LOAD ZAMBIANS INTO AN AIRCRAFT WHICH HE DOESN’T KNOW HOW TO FLY. — I AM TRYING TO ASSESS THE HONEST VIEWS OF THE UPND MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT WHENEVER I MEET THEM ON WHETHER THEY SERIOUSLY INTEND TO CONDEMN OUR COUNTRY TO A SATA PRESIDENCY. IF THAT IS FINALLY THE DECISION OF HH, I KNOW THE GOOD PEOPLE OF SOUTHERN PROVINCE WILL THINK VERY DEEPLY ABOUT IT. ANYWAY EVERY NATION GETS THE LEADERS IT DESERVES. I CAN SEE FROM THE COMMENTS OF OUR DIASPORA THAT WE PROBABLY DESERVE SATA. SO BE IT.

  30. 38 ba-NKOLE WA MAPEMBWE UMFWE MILANDU thanks, but we can not buckle in to honourable PF self-appointed lwader Sata MC follwoing your “I AM TRYING TO ASSESS THE HONEST VIEWS OF THE UPND MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT WHENEVER I MEET THEM ON WHETHER THEY SERIOUSLY INTEND TO CONDEMN OUR COUNTRY TO A SATA PRESIDENCY. IF THAT IS FINALLY THE DECISION OF HH, I KNOW THE GOOD PEOPLE OF SOUTHERN PROVINCE WILL THINK VERY DEEPLY ABOUT IT. ANYWAY EVERY NATION GETS THE LEADERS IT DESERVES.

I strongly believe that a Nation deserves whom they people vote for, but president HH and the UPND Team will do us Zambains honours being not allowing Sata (Grade 2/6) to lead the PACT.

Should they do, I’ll personall come to decampaign them in Southern Province.

  31. I will just repeat briefly what I have already said elswhere on this blog.”CHIMBWI NO PLAN”. Just flow with the wind.

  32. In Zambia stimulus plan would mean give money to relatives so that their businesses can have more capital…. we need to start from the bottom right the obvious things that are wrong first. and be in control of our country…

  33. It is better to be undereducated than being uncivilized. Dirty and uncivilized cultural practices will always be working against Social ,Political and Economic Development of a developmental state .Governance is all about making correct decisions and It does not take a University Graduate to make an Intelligent decisions.

  34. No. 42 u r so right. its like our leaders have no initiative watsoever. even basic things are beyyond them. Zambia will never develop until we put leaders who are sensible and can put their education to real use. i am also wonderng as to whether the pastor above knows wat he is talking about. wat stimulus package to a small (minute) economy as zambia is he talking about?

  35. i cunt believe shi mpundu with his press briefing. its a total waste of time, nothing concrete came out of his mouth. wonder y he even called for it…

  36. where was RB all this time when other countries was buys planing for the economics for thire countries is to late or not that man was buys with something far away from zed pipo

  37. From what I have read so far from other bloggers, no solution whatsoever was given with the on going strikes and economic situation in Zambia. Does RB really know what to do or is he just meet on wheels?…..Kaya mwandini

  38. BA RB, are you telling me up to now ,you have not come up with an economic stimulus plan that will help to address the economic problems affecting the nation., this man is crazy ka, RB you are a Joker, please try to stay at home and ask your advisors about ways to combat or even slow down this credit crunch, You need to sor out the problems at home first , then you can go on your everyday jet trips.

  39. Why don’t all our Zambian economists come together form an association and give some suggestions to the goverment . Zambians should not put all the blame on the goverment . They need to work together with the goverment find ways to improve Zambia. Goverment needs to make it easy for our intellectuals in Zambia to give him advise even the ones abroad. We all love Zambia and want our country to succeed. Zambians are very intelligent people and we have some of the best minds in Zambia and abroad whom we have not utilised in goverment to make a difference in Zambia. Dambisa Moyo should give some suggestions on this one

  40. Conditions to stimulate an economy is buy creating a climate of higher employment and encourage the Zambians to spend. e.g. High tax on imported goods and low tax on local goods. Lower tax on Z manufacturing companies & businesses. foreign investors must employ Zambians and make available the purchase of the shares of their companies to Zedians. Plus every foreign investor should substantially contribute to hospitals/schools for any favourable tax exemptions. They need to put something in the communities to improve Zed and not just take money out of the country. e.g Shoprite makes it difficult for small local groceries to compete Shoprite should invest in the community it generates alot of money from Zambians. The point is money has to be recycled in Z to stimulate the economy

  41. The Christian Faith Mission Centre, these are dull christians, Zambia does not have money to start projects, IMF is not lending because. Its a world recession and things will come right in time, Truth is that RB can do nothing, The West are in control and world markets.
