District chairperson Joseph Kapilya told ZANIS today that the party was impressed with the peaceful manner campaigns were being conducted by political parties involved in the campaigns.

He said if the kind of gesture displayed by the political parties continued, Zambia’s democracy would grow to higher heights.

Mr. kapilya who is in the constituency to drum up support for Timothy Kapolo, UNIP candidate, however said he was hopeful that Mr. Kapolo would emerge winner in the elections scheduled for August 13th 2009.

Other candidates are Dr. Solomon Musonda for MMD, Evans Chola for FDD and Chanda Mutale for PF/UPND pact.

In another development, the District Voter Education Committee (DVEC) chairperson, Jimmy Nsama is also happy that political parties campaigning in the constituency have respect for campaign materials.

Mr. Nsama who was in the constituency yesterday to check on voter education facilitators, said it was pleasing to find that campaign posers remained intact on trees, walls and on anywhere they were stuck.

“This is good because it show maturity in terms of politics. If we can have different posters on one tree next to each other then we are getting somewhere politically, “he said.

He also expressed hope that the voter educators will work according to their requirement so that their education could help even reduce on spoilt ballot papers and corruption.

  2. Thandiwe, nurses’ salaries

“Allow me to comment on the revelation of first lady Thandiwe’s continued presence on government payroll. To start with, the government being led by her husband Rupiah Banda is corrupt and not sincere. The president and his wife should be ashamed of this act. I want to challenge the MMD government to tell the nation why Thandiwe should not be prosecuted on this matter.

Rupiah denied nurses their salaries when they were on strike and yet his wife has been on payroll ever since Rupiah was vice-president.

How much money has she received since she stopped teaching?

    Shame on plot one!”
Bwezani has remained quite over this ghost worker because of the fruit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  4. When was the last time RB slept in his bed at State House? The chap is clocking up airmiles, as if he works for Boeing. RB please stay put and do some work!

  5. the result of this election will send a message to all the political parties involved in this by-election. you should work on your weaknesses regardless of the result. may the best party win.

  6. I can’t comment on your issue because I do not know the arrangement with your employer. And if anything if govt sends a worker for further studies, will still be getting a salary. Thandiwe is a special case. I thought this was easy to understanding especially that you are claiming to be pursuing your PHD now, and that can’t scare any blogger. You are not the first person to have pursed that PHD if it is true. Please read between the lines.

  7. LT, what about UPND, PF, UNIP and independents – are they not drumming up support. Surely your articles would be more interesting if you covered all political parties. Otherwise, just let it be known that you are pro-MMD so we can look for a less-biased blog!
