Zesco United will let their Zambia call-ups to play in Wednesday international friendly against Ghana.

Club secretary Justin Mumba said Zesco will abide by Fifa regulations and release the duo for Zambia duty.

“We will comply with Fifa regulations for the Zambia game against Ghana,” Mumba said.

Defenders Nyambe Mulenga and Hichani Himoonde are part of four local call-ups Herve Renard announced to his team to face Ghana in London on August 12 at Brisbane Road.

Mulenga and Hichani have another pressing international  engagement three days later with Zesco who play El Merreikh of Sudan on August 15 in a Caf African Champions League Group A match in Khartoum.

Zesco leave for Sudan on the same date Zambia play Ghana although Mumba refused to comment on when the duo would join  the team in Sudan.

Zesco had earlier said they would not be releasing any players to player for Zambia duty this month in the midst of their Group A campaign.

Meanwhile, all home-based and South African-based players are scheduled to fly out to London on Sunday.

  1. Zesco need the services of those tow key players for their international outing to Sudan to make significant appearance otherwise if they lose the next game then thats end. The inter friendly against Ghana is important but when making the final team against Algeria most of the chaps will be left out.
FAZ should look into this matter. This game is important for Zesco and the country given that this is the first time our Zambian team has gone that far. There are many local and foreign legs for Renarn to pick on. FAZ leave ou Himonde and Mulenga for Ghana friendly. Bruno what is happening and where are you.

  2. This being a mere friendly game, ZESCO should not have released their players. Afterall, HR wants to test the likes of Andrew Sinkala and the New kid from Scandinavia.
This may drastically affect ZESCO’s game plan, as we also need to win the Champions Cup.
