Faustin Kabwe and Aaron Chungu granted bail

Share

A LUSAKA magistrate’s court yesterday granted bail of K100 million each to two former Access Financial Services (AFS) Limited directors, Faustin Kabwe and Aaron Chungu.

Ndola High Court deputy registrar, Jones Chinyama, granted the duo bail pending trial in chambers after considering their bail applications.

Magistrate Chinyama said the two convicts should provide two working sureties each in the sum of K50 million in their own recognisance.

He also ordered the duo to ensure that they surrendered their passports to the clerk of courts.

The duo was jointly charged with acquitted former president Frederick Chiluba but had their charges substituted from theft by public servant to that of being in possession of suspected stolen funds.

  1. If their fellow thief FJT Chiluba is innocent, then these guys should be let go as well instead of wasting our time.

  2. This country is so full of sore losers, even chaps in the diaspora. Mukabwele so that you give an alternative

  3. No chance….they will be found guilty by the Hig Court. They will appeal to the Supreme Court . They will be found guity and it will be 5 years and would have served their 3 years from Aug 09. Lawyers know how to steal…the real criminals

  4. There we go again. Joseph Bwalya of Kitwe’s Mulenaga T/Ship was denied bail(he had stolen a chicken) because the presiding magistrate was afraid that peoples chicken’s would not be safe with Bwalya free.

  5. These are just techniques employed to buy time. Their boss has been aquited for theft by public servant, why should their case suddenly change to something else? these chaps are playing with our minds and think that we are f**ls that cant fiqure out what they are upto. Its just another fiasco.

  6. Money can buy anything in Zed…..hope it will buy FTJ life and the rest.We got this lady they are dragging to court over serious issues when the real thiefs are walking free in the streets.Time alone will tell……..enjoy now and cry later,if you will be gone by then, then your children will

  7. If it wasn’t sad what is happening in Zambia with the current government, it would be laughable. The two are guilty, while the person they were dealing with, being RB’s friend, is not. Our judiciary stinks abominably. Buche what kind of judges are these we have in Zambia who are so so ready to abdicate their dignity. Surely if judges can vouch for corruprion, where are we going. I’m sure these people are haunted by guilt.

  8. Ok now i give up.Why should things be like this pa zed.Judgements being doctored ,just to suit some chap.We need some redical thinkers to help us out of this mess MMD as put us in.You promised that you will get back the money from Zambian Airways ,whats happening ?

  9. You are all a batch of ****ers who deserve to die,and if i knew your wives i could have ****ed them all like i did to my boss’ sister. In the mouth and in every hole that she had on her.

  10. They have been granted bail, meaning they are serving from outside, they will appeal, loose,be granted bail by a higher court, loose, appeal and by the time they are convicted by the Supreme Court, they will have served their sentences from the day of arrest. Rats!

  11. I urge all privileged civil servants to emulate Chiluba by stealing us blind, because they have nothing to worry about; they won’t go to jail. Instead, they will be handsomely rewarded, just like him. They will walk to freedom, just like him. Theft by public servant, whatever that is, turns out to be a financially rewarding undertaking as we have seen from this fiasco. Banda and his govt have no shame if they are able to walk with their heads high after doing us such monumental injustice. Chiluba once cried to Sata ” Twachula pafula”. Well, I have news for all these scalawags, a day is coming when Zambians of all ages will rise and make the same proclamation, “Twachula pafula”, that will be a sad day for these scoundrels, and we’ll all see how they run for cover. Zambia did it in…

  12. It pays to know people in power, chiluba you are the man ,you really know how to dribble. We need players like you in chipolopolo .And now you want your immunity back ,and have the aducity to write to the speaker. Why can’t you wait till the London judgement is passed ? Any way it’s all an organised move by nyamasoya and his batch of no goods .

  13. I’m tnow empted to think that when you become a politician, especially belonging to a ruling party, you forfeit your citizenship temporarily. How else can our politicians account for these dastard acts? It’s as good as saying, “up yours Zambia and ordinary Zambians until further notice”, then immedately they get booted out power by the system they join the ranks of ordinary Zambians. They even cry the most, because their past exploits while holding whatever office affords them a platform to open their loud mouths to scream murder all of a sudden. Kaunda is a good example who only complains when injustice is directed at him. Right now he’s been sworn to omerta by the goodies bestowed on him by the powers that be.

  14. Iwe Chinyama please spare us from your nonsense. How can you jail the two for receiving stolen goods while the person who gave them the goods is free?? Its the same case with Regina who is jailed for receiving stollen goods from chiluba. WHAT S.T.U.P.I.DI.T.Y IS THIS??? Please dont waste our money any more. You are just thre to suck Zambians. NONSENSE!!!!!!!!!

  15. I swear if I was a GRZ official this would be the right time to steal Tax money. One can only be stupid not to. its free for all. Maaaaaa

  16. I swear if I was a GRZ official this would be the right time to steal Tax money. One can only be dumb not to. its free for all. Maaaaaa

  17. Stolen goods? Who stole?

If FTJ did not steal and these guys did not steal but only handles stolen goods, unless it can be proved that the goods were stolen, these guys are innocent. You cannot have stolen goods if nobody stole them. The same goes with Regina. If she did not steal but only held stolen goods, how do you jail her if there’s no one who stole them in the first place.
All this is a joke. The moment FTJ was freed, all these guys got liberated. Why are we wasting more money on this case. Please find something else to do. Go free up that baby whose mother is in prison, or something else worth while.

  18. I think Chungu knew that the right time had come for him to come back. The lawyers and advisors to these guys are more brilliant than the Nchitos. They read the situation very well. These guys are smart, they have outmanouvred everybody. They are shrewed dribblers. Who said the Nchitos et al are smart lawyers? They do not belong to the FTJ premier league. They are small overzealous boys.

The Task Force have been left only holding to FTJ’s shoes. LOL, even those will go back to the master dribbler. Pants down!

  19. On “The duo was jointly charged with acquitted former president Frederick Chiluba but had their charges substituted from theft by public servant to that of being in possession of suspected stolen funds“, forgive them also for they are only in posession of stolen money but jail the one who stole the money and return the money to the rightful owners.

    May God bless us all.

    Matthew 6:33
But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and the rest shall be added unto you.

  20. If it was in the USA, Hollyhood would make a movie out of this case, and someone would write a best seller.

Hmmm. I wonder what the title would be. Anyone with ideas?

One would only wonder how only small fishes like Richard Sakala have been netted. The big sharks – Katele, FTJ, Chungu et al basically have the whole wide ocean free to roam. As for the Nchitos et al, I suppose one can see them rolling their battered boat to the shore, with only a small catch, having toiled all night. Vanguished. They bit more than they could chew. They have run with horses.

Hope we have learned something from this case. Surely we must have as a nation a mechanism powerful enough to grind the mightily corrupt to the ground. We must, or else our nation’s wealth is at risk of great plunder.

  21. Lock them up they should know in zambia some Zambians are more equal than the others. The ever peacefull zambians can do NOTHING but complain among themselves(wife to her husband and the other way) about the behaviour of the more equal ones. You can do anything in zambia even if you are caught ~be happy unless you are less equal like reporter, kaponya. Please you the less equal do not try ,not even a chicken you belocked up and keys dropped in the river.Do not even protest just watch them live large with s.to.len property and cash.I just wish they do not show off by building mansions and cool cars while we can hardly afford breakfast meal. Zambia uuuuuh

  22. This clearly shows how RB will fall. He’s thinking every person he defends will defend him when the time comes. This is the way I see it, The higher you go, the greater the fall and the more it hurts. Watch out Bwezani!!!!!!!!!

  23. Lets us respect the courts decision after all their master is a freeman. We missed the opportunity coz we are fond of dramatizing cases before conclusive investigations are done. There are so many cases whihc have bin messed. GRZ should disband the task force and trasnsfer pending cases to ACC, ZP and DEC depending on their nature. Those fellows at Task Force were busy chewing imprest. The hounable thing for Max Nkole to do is to work silently coz his days at Task Force are numbered. The whole thing was political. We are not in a state of emergency to have Task Force prosecuting cases yet we have qualified men and women in other GRZ wings. Its very demolizing to those who are cops etc. I am not in any way supporting wrong doing but asking ZP,ACC & DEC do as the law prescribes not otherwiz

  24. surely if the top dog FTJ is innocent of all corruption charges, the people that were working under his instructions must also be innocent? After all if a President instructs one to carry out an illegal act how can you defy a head of state? with out committing treason?
