Former Grade 12 school pupils demand their missing results

Share

Former Itezhi-tezhi High School Grade twelve school pupils this morning stormed the Itezhi-tezhi District Commissioner’s office demanding the immediate release of their missing grade 12 Science results.

And Acting Itezhi-tezhi District Commissioner, Hampende Hichilema, has expressed disappointment at Examinations Council of Zambia (ECZ) for continued reports of missing results in schools.

The more than 12 pupils who stormed the DC’s office said that they were not happy with the way the ECZ was handling Grade twelve results for Itezhi-tezhi district.

They said that when the Grade twelve results were out in March this year, they were informed that their biology and science results were missing and that the school was doing everything possible to retrieve the results but nothing has been done.

“We entrust the ECZ with marking and recording of our results and for them to just misplace our results is unacceptable. Our parents have spent money for our exams,” said the visibly upset school leavers.

The former pupils said that the delay by the ECZ to send the results to their school has jeopardized their plans of going to college next year.

“Right now most colleges are advertising for courses but we are unable to apply because of the missing science results. Moreover, we cannot find jobs because employers are asking for results slips,” they said

They have appealed to government to seriously probe the system at the ECZ for their failure to handle examinations results.

Meanwhile, Mr Hichilema said that reports of missing results from the ECZ are disappointing and uncalled for.

“I personally am very disappointed with the system. In this era of improved technology, it is inexcusable for ECZ to continue losing results for pupils. I have been a teacher before and I know how we do the marking and it is not possible to miss results,” he said.

Mr Hichilema has assured the pupils that he will engage the district education office and the ECZ to expedite the release of the results.

Itezhi-tezhi District Board Secretary (DEBS) Mahuba Hazemba confirmed the missing results.

  1. Where are the Zambian lawyers? Don’t always look for money. Help the needy. These former pupils need your help. Help them.

  2. I’m glad this has been brought to light. this is something that has been going on from time in memorial. i too had to go baxk and forth with the ministry of education from 1995. In 2002 they sent the wrong certificate information to my mother., unfortunately i wasnt in the country to fight it, I say they should fight it and the ministry of education should invest in modern technology and do away with having teachers mark the exams.
