Luanshya records three Typhoid cases

Three typhoid cases have been recorded in Luanshya with the victims reportedly from Mpatamatu township.

Roan General Hospital executive director Dr Tasila Peters confirmed the development in an interview with ZANIS. She said her institution had attended to three cases of typhoid and discharged the last patient yesterday.

Dr. Peters said the two of the three patients aged 4 and 11 from the same house were admitted two weeks ago while the other one was admitted last week.

She said the patients were put in an isolation ward which has since been fumigated adding that all the patients tested negative at the time they were discharged.

She observed that the trio have been advised to go to the hospital for review after two weeks to ensure that they were safe.

Dr Peters said the area where the typhoid cases came from has been fumigated and residents sensitized to report to the nearest health facility should they suspect any symptoms of the disease.
