Public interest in CBU pleases Vice Chancellor

Share

Copperbelt University Vice-Chancellor Professor Mutale Musonda is overwhelmed with civil society’s interest in the affairs of higher education.

Prof. Musonda said this is true testimony that the Vision 2030 on ensuring access to education by all is attainable.

Responding to the question on what the CBU senate was doing to address people’s demand to have the expelled students at the Copperbelt University reinstated, Prof. Musonda said he was not obliged to comment on a senate issue which he said was under discussion.

He said he was impressed with people’s interest in the affairs of the University.

Prof. Musonda said it was the University’s desire to ensure an educated cadre if the 2030 Vision on education was to be attained.

However, Prof. Musonda observed that there was need to have an educated and productive cadre that is fit for the purpose.

He also noted the need to attach value to education at any level if the intended education purpose was to be realized.

The Vice Chancellor said parents have a responsibility of inculcating moral values in their children at a very tender age.

Prof. Musonda further observed that institutional managers also are obliged to impart values for education from primary school to tertiary level.

“There is need to have value inculcated at a tender age in children and continued imparting of education value at any levels of child development to ensure an educated cadre, fit for the purpose,” he said.

He told ZANIS in Livingstone that parents and institutional managers are challenged to ensure that children grow into responsible citizens for future socio-economic development.

  1. Prof Musonda is the best of all times. Look at the stractures that he is puting up at CBU. CBU will soon be the best University in Africa. Pro Muzo Keep it up God will reward you dear.

  2. Like i said before, will som1 tell me y that 87yr old man was moving with over 200m going that direction. He claimed to hav come from Lsk wer he truely know that pipo steal even 5m at gun point during the day. we shud investigate him for suspected money loundering as well. at his age moving with all that money without escort, these ar the pipo runng away from paying Tax

  3. The money could have well been K11000 or 11pin and the victim 25yearz old, bottom line; student action waz wrong and uncalled for. However, the expulzion of the entire COBUSU iz not a solution and must be reversed unconditionally. It iz incumbent upon parents, guardianz and society at large to inculcate upright/responsible mob psycology in the youth.

  4. I totally agree with #3, the students’ action was not in order. To everyone, don’t forget the origin of all these issues. THE STUDENTS WANTED TO KILL A PETTY THIEF (mob justice) (and these are suppose to be students of highest learning institution of the land, taking the law on their own hands), THEN THE POLICE INTERVENED. AND JUST FOR THAT THEY BECOME VERY VIOLENT TOWARD THE OFFICES, SUCH THAT THEY HAD TO SHOOT ONE. Then the following day, they start attacking every one pass near CBU and stealing. The senate did the good thing and should be a lesson to the remaining students. Just for the record, am former unzasu something

  5. That’s the way to go it, re-instate the students and listen to their complaints. However, rowdyism and stone throwing is not welcome.

  6. # 5, it was a mistake to find yourself in Unzasu, if your statement is true. Compare the two scenarios, one; health system collapses due to insensitivity on “a more serious group of people” called government, lives are lost, only yo come and expel Student Leaders over a burnt Hiux Surf and probably, laundered K200 Million kwacha from the West African! I wonder what the Unzasu you served in was like! I’m not attacking you personally, just look at the facts, let’s say irresponsible behaviour by students Versus “arrogant lumpenism” by Rupuahs’ Government. CBU leaders deserve re-instatement and retribution, of course. The government killed lives and …………….the rest is known, can I call it genocide and spark another stupid debate? No, I won’t do that, just read betwen the…
