Kasama Central electorates urged to be wary of GBM

Share

The MMD in Luanshya has urged the electorates in the Kasama by-elections to be wary of leaders who are bent on tribalism as they cast they vote on 15th October.

Luanshya MMD district secretary Kennedy Kaonga said he was disappointed by the remarks made by the PF/ UPND kasama candidate Goeffrrey Mwamba that the electorate should not vote for MMD’s Burton Mugala because he was not Bemba.

Kaonga said mr Mwamba should realize that Kasama town is a cosmopolitian constituency with some many tribes adding that it wiil not be only bembas will vote in the bye-elections.

He said being a cosmopolitan constituency anyone was eligible to contest the seat despite his tribe .

Kaonga said that when Mwamba stood in Lusaka a lot of Tumbukas from Muyombe voted for him and wondered why Kasama should be a special case.

He observed that such leaders of Mwamba ‘s caliber should not be entertained because of their divisive characteristics which was not good for nation.

He urged the electorate to vote for someone who reside with them as opposed to someone who is hailing from Lusaka with the view of hijacking the electoral process.

  1. GBM now using PF playbook is the Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of PF in Kasama. While the Iran leader is straight with his Antisemitism manifest ranging from individual expressions of hatred and discrimination against individual Jews to organized violent attacks by mobs, GBM and PF are on and against fellow Zambians.

  2. People of kasama should not waste their votes GBM. He just showed us how shallow minded he is. With people like him, there will never be development in our country.

  3. I think its time we recognized that what KK built over time has collapsed. What we need to ask is who has contributed to the collapse of the “ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION” motto? All fingers point at no one but chiluba. FTJ made sure that all that KK was praised for was damaged in one way or another. Mind you this is the slogan that was pronounced every time there was news hour on radio or tv. but alas, the thief came and stole even the slogan and znbc was left with nothing but to follow the small shortie where ever he went. While i support those calling on GBM to retract his statement, let us look carefully in line with the voting patterns of the other 7 provinces. we will find that a local person is always a favourite while in lusaka and on the copperbelt, anyone can stand, thats why we…

  4. contd, thats why we saw dipak standing in lusaka central, stan kristafor ndola etc. half casts like Harrington stood in their respective places where they were known. so on a serious note, wether its an MMD, PF or any candidate, they all want locals. lets not forget that we had a bye elections in chitambo, whom did the MMD field and what reasons did they give? a local person not a person who is a stranger to chitambo.
so much as we should go toward unification, its imperative that the people in power, shift this paradigm back to the old KK days or else, we go back to the rightful claim, we belong to a particular tribe or tribes for those who are sandwitches like my children

  5. Those on GBM’s neck, tell me where did bamayo ba Nalumango stand as MP? dr chishya, emma munaile, ba rev babufi ba shikapwasha, abena katele the magician, the list is long, all these people wether MMD or opposition stood in their background territory because they identified themselves with the people based on ethnic grouping called A TRIBE. Lets not be cheated, Chiluba destroyed the motto for one thing, to bring in confusion, divide and rule as he brags about reading Machiavelli’s literature. you think emmanuel munaile even if he grew up in muf town would have got that position? even ba katele would have lost in kitwe but he went to chiengi where they know him as a child.

  6. BA CHE GUEVERA,
GBM has every right to stand in his tribesmen’s backyard but this should not disqualify other people from other tribes from vying for the post.infact in the examples you cited where people like katele, nalumango, munaile and shikapwasha stood for election.cant you see that unlike kasama central which is more urban the places you aluded to are all villages.GBM does not hail from kasama central but from chief munkonge’s village and that is in lunte constituency.so he should take his idiocy there and see if he can challenge mutati.kasama has a town accomodates different people from different tribes who have contributed to it’s growth hence they should have a stake in it’s affairs.

  7. #7 Akapondo, iam not subscribing to GBM’s tribal sentiments at all, what am just highlighting are the current trends. read my earlier posting. as far as am concerned, the style of leadership KK wanted has collapsed in the MMD area and you want the opposition to remain behind? not at all. what GBM is preaching has been preached by late teta and indeed president RB, so why shud the weight be on GBM alone while the same tribal sentiment is fine if it comes out of RB’s mouth. coming to your other point about kasama being more urban than malole, pambashe, etc, i dont think so coz most of the facilities save alone the small tarmac showing along what may be called the central street of kasama is nothing to show off. the only urban places we can call are simply copperbelt towns ndola, kitwe,…

  8. Akapondo, thanks for well thought out analysis. Ba Che Guevera, you are thinking like GBM. Zambia is for all Zambians. Northern Province has many tribes who live in all the districts, let us not sink our intellectuality and become like them old stu**pid tadpoles with big bellies and small brians, the Bas**tar should retract his statement, otherwise he will not even win, I bet you!

  9. #7 & 9, I am failing to understand were you are disagreeing with Che Guevera. If you read his post very carefully, his views are no different from yours. What he is also trying to say basically is that what Zambia was bult on, ‘one Z and N’ which brought about diversity and unity in the nation seems to have been destroyed by such behaviour being displayed by GBM and worse even by RB himself. And what can you expect ?

  10. #10 Moderator, thanks for coming to my rescue, i bet my brothers Akapondo and Sobongo Kibinda Wa Ba Kabwa have not really gotten what am saying. Thats the problem with us zambians sometimes, we dont want to read the matter at hand but want to be quick to secure a judgment. Iam being judged by these two fellows based on what they have already concluded on the first line of the blog i posted at # 5, not knowing that i have already distanced myself from GBM’s statement in my earlier posts. Thanks once again, VIVA ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION. Thats why KK would post a lozi to chama or a tonga to kawambwa. thats how the man united Zambia, he never saw a luvale as a stranger to eastern province or a bemba posted to man livingstone namboard etc

  11. CHE GUEVERA and MODERATOR,dont confuse us.if you challenge those on GBM’s neck to tell you where the munaile, katele’s and the like what are you trying to justify.if you ask why it should be wrong for GBM to pass a tribal remark when RB and late TETA where also on record what is the interpretation.and mind you it’s just that it’s now a culture to twist what ever rupiah says out of hate and especially that most of your minds has been polluted by one tabloid propaganda.rupiah didn’t disparage any tribe all he said was that “iam your child and hail from here so am one of you” never did he say dont vote for sata because he is bemba or hakainde because he is tonga.i dont need to repeat the nonsense GBM said.and your argument on kasama no being a more urban place makes me wonder what…

  12. Ba che naba Moderator, Thanks for the correction, you are right I based my arguments on #5 by Che. As a schooled Zambian, I must learn to swallow my pride and apologise to you, my brothers. Viva Zambia.

  13. #17, my brother you are very much welcome and am deeply humbled by your sentiments. we need to build zambia from the principles of oneness not the line of GBM as you and i agree that zambia is for zambians. gone are those days when wako ni wako and shame on those who are still advocating for such. yes we africans belong to the village concept but segregation based on tribal lines is equal to apartheid or racism. this is the issue that sparked problems in serbia and our own rwanda. so brother, lets work together. its not too late as we have people like you who can reason much better than GBM. we can make a difference.

  14. CHE GUEVERA,
kASAMA in it’s set up is an urban area just like chipata.that’s why these towns have been craving for a city status.people there have invested in modern infrastructure and they are not all bembas infact GBM will even be shocked to find that most developers are not even his tribesmen.so the fact that goverment has let down kasama in terms of infrastructure development should not mean kasama is rural.it’s a town on the verge of becoming a city by2020

  15. #16, my dear, you seem to be quite far from home, come back and see what is really happening. Well am no supporter of the post nor do i condon unfairness. You will agree with me that the govt controlled media are a let down and so if i were you i would open my eyes and do research of my own. Thats what i do. the americans never trained me to critic for the sake of arguments but to critic and then provide solutions to augment a weak point so that it passes the test of time. you know very well that most of the basic benchmarks for normal living that have been promised to the zambian are very good looking on paper but the implementation is pathetic, wether the post tells you or another person lies to you. the best is come home and see for yourself

  16. The only crime he has committed is stating the obvious. Something we know already exists.

If the foot was put on the other foot-(a Mr Mulenga going to stand in Mongu, Sesheke, Magoye, Kalabo, Monze etc), would you plonkers be saying what you are saying now? Do you see Mr Mulenga winning in those areas whether standing on the pact or not?

That`s why Zambians still respect foreigners more than their own. You are pathetic.

  17. We are not interested in colonial politics that are based on Tribal Lines. Dr Kaunda laid a good play ground in Zambia through one- Zambia- One Nation which all our former presidents have been following. RB is a man who is bringing all tribes together as at now. Let’s go forward with MMD which is not TRIBAL!

  18. GBM is just hitting back, Mugala was the first to say GBM was an outsider because he stays in Lusaka and the like, now that GBM hits back at Mugala saying that he’s more of a Kasama Resident than Mugala, everybody starts to shout the tribalism issue. LOL

  19. Any zambian who has domiciled in any area for a lenghthy period of time and deem that place as his home has every right to participate in political activities of that area regardless of tribe.he can not only vie for chieftainship because it is restricted to tribe.GBM and his screwed sympathisers ought to know this.if GBM wants to represent his kinsmen he should challenge felix mutati in lunte because that’s his home area.kasama no.it’s another story altogether.there are a lot of people from across the country who have settled in kasama.some were civil servants who retired and settled there.some are still in service and others are business men who unlike GBM have done a lot to develop that town which was a village only yesterday .so why should one dull man brand them as aliens because…

  20. What actually did GBM say. Did he say Mugala should not stand or was he asking the people of Kasama not to vote for Mugala because he is not bemba? I have seen people have brought in the issue of who stands where but I am not sure if that was what he said. Can someone please throw some light on this issue. Sancho very much

  21. # 8 che gavara walasa. I love your thinking it is contructive and go pf/upnd pack. Let us not be cheated by thieves who are busy stealing justices even. Why was kafupi acquited isnt it because of the tribe so mmd can win luapula and the same kasama, so what are they talking about. Man can be mocked but there is God in heaven, the earth and the fullness thereoff is His! Kaka lepuka one day

  22. Yes I’ve heard about GBM’z life-style and must say some of it iz not nice. But surely if we are to judge leaderz on that premise, there must a lot of them with even worse standing in society than GBM, only nothing haz been made public. Am not a fan of GBM, and I know BM(Burton Mugala) played football at a high level, but I would rather the people of Kasama made their own free, uninfluenced choice under the cicumstancez. May the man prefered by the electorate win.

  23. Zambians why do we want to blow the whole thing out of proportion?Last year President Rupiah Banda during campaigns told people of eastern province to chase away all those who dont come from the eastern province, why didnt you react, today because its opposition you want to start pointing fingers. The post wrote in black and white but we have forgotten, this is why we can not move forward even us youths have accepted to be used.

  24. #31 Actually Banda was severely condemned for saying what he did. Also just because Banda jumps over a cliff into the lake does that mean I have to follow? If the Pact are not diffrent from Banda then better stick with the devil you know – what is the point of changing govt? Tribal and divisive statements should not be condoned wherever they come from. We need to build a society where such language is unacceptable in whatever circumstance especially for those seeking high office. We should make tribal statements against the law and unacceptable the same manner that americans have rejected the use of the ‘N’ in respectable society.

  25. The problem with GBM is that he talks from his backside!! The dude is a joke to any right thinking Zedian. Being Bemba is not a qualification for being an MP. GBM what is your C.V. like? I bet it it will read something like…I was born a Bemba, I love being Bemba, I like Bembas, I will die a Bemba, I graduated as a Bemba, I proud I am Bemba, My referees are all pure Bembas, I speak pure Bemba, Vote for me because I am Bemba. What a j.e.r.k!!!

  26. Yes #32 but lets face it even MMD has ministers who cant even read sms, ministers who speak english that is written for them,so leadership is not about having a higher degree but wisdom.Tribal remarks are not welcome but this was started by your president RB and looking at what he does is a dangerous devil you should expect.Lets new our spirit viva pf/upnd.

  27. This is interesting, ask yourself can you go to a town where you dont come from and stand as an MP. GBM is dam right, im from Kasama and will vote for him, we are not trible but let Mungala go and stand in muyombe what is he fearing there. MMD should have picked a person from Kasama Bemba in Paricular. where is this noise coming from. Kasama elubemba those who dont know its for bembas period.

  28. MAX,
You are right kasama elubemba, that’s why nobufontini mulubemba bwashalila.you assholes are too backwards because you have got cheap pride and cheap mentality.salvation descended upon your ka bush town by making ka saviour chishimba give up that post because he wasn’t serving your interests instead of seizing this opportunity and make amends already you are busy pompously showing us your alignment to another dunder head who will even spell misery on you coolies from that bush.that thing you are so excited about will even be worse than saviour.wait until your father receives that shower of insults and you will realise your folly.

  29. Max #35 – Your GBM will lose just because of low intellect as exposed by one careless statement – exactly what you are advocating.
