The damage to electrical appliances caused by suspected excessive power voltage in Chadiza has persisted.
Yesterday, computers at the Ministry of Agriculture offices in the district blew up, forcing workers to scamper for safety.
The incident which happened around 16 hours, damaged three computers and one fax machine.
Chadiza District Agricultural Coordinator, Mwaba Lubasi confirmed the incident to ZANIS in an interview today.
A check by ZANIS immediately after the incident yesterday, found that most of workers had abandoned their offices and were standing outside for fear of being electrocuted.
Some of the workers talked to, complained that the agricultural input distribution exercise at the Agricultural offices will be negatively affected as the rainy season shall soon be setting in.
They said the processing of some farmers’ documents would be delayed as most of the documents were stored in the affected computers.
On Sunday, household goods worth millions of Kwacha were destroyed due to suspected high voltage in Kanjala and Kanjala Extension Compounds.
Zesco Regional Manager, Wilbroad Chanda told ZANIS yesterday that the power utility company would carry out an investigation into the matter to establish the cause of the incidents.

Zesco should compensate…..
I bet u the guys hadnt even started the work and have now been saved by Zesco. For essential data on a pc, daily back ups should be made and stored in a strong room off limit. Where are the backups. Fyabufi ta fya bombele!!!!
Then Zescolo should compansate, but before that they should find out from these boys and girls maybe it might be a game played
the computers must be insured. otherwise it should be a lesson to make sure they do that next time. QZ
When we are complaining of LOAD SHEDDING, we even have places where there is over voltage. What is happening in Zambia kanshi. Bring back

With a government institution such as offices of the ministry of agriculture, you’d think they would utilize a UPS. This could’ve have been prevented even with Zesco’s negligence.
A simple Power-surge protector does the trick, costs a fraction of a computer. Mwaona manje!
Is this a country where people live or just another robin Island
Try survival Island.
Exactly #8, but I guess a surge protector may just be regarded as a luxury item. Yai yai yai…
Zesco at it again.
When workers report for duties drunk, their performance suffers. Zambia has a very well known history of accepting mediocrity as a norm from suppliers of services, be it telephone, electricity or water.  If this power surge, had happened in another country, heads would have rolled. But in Zambia, it ends at “we will investigate” and the drinking goes on
For ZESCO to allow surges in power supply systems to such dangerously very high levels endangers the lives of users and is criminal. The Area ZESCO Manager and his team should be arrested for criminal negligence.Â
Nepotism also inhibits discipline. Most ZESCO employees got their jobs and promotions because they knew someone big in the system. And the price the nation has to pay, MEDIOCRITY OF THE WORST KIND
Why cant Senior Citizen, who claims to be an expert at Management assist ZESCO to supply a safe and reliable product to its customers.
Or is he just an empty tin who makes the loudest of noises but has nothing to show for the noise?
