Suspected PF-UPND pact cadres this morning stormed ZAMCOM Lodge in Lusaka to disrupt a press briefing which suspended Namwala Member Parliament (MP) Robbie Chizyuka had convened.

The cadres found Major Chizyuka and his supporters performing an Ila traditional activity, which involved brandishing spears while drumming traditional drums and dancing.

The PF/UPND cadres, who were carrying stones, grabbed banners which Major Chizyuka’s supporters were displaying and dispersed them and journalists as the convener of the press briefing quickly went into hiding.

Confusion continued to reign as the pact cadres chased Major Chizyuka’s supporters, who dropped their spears while they scampered for their safety.

Calm was only restored when police were called in to quell the confusion.

Later, Major Chizyuka managed to address journalists and urged opposition political parties to stop criticizing government unnecessarily but to offer positive advice if peace was to be upheld in the nation.

Maj. Chizyuka, who is also UPND Chairman for Agriculture, stated that he sacrificed a lot for the party and regretted that it was now accusing him of misleading other party members in the UPND/PF pact.

And Major Chizyuka has doubted the morality of Patriotic Front (PF) president, Michael Sata, who allegedly supported tribal remarks issued by Kasama Central PF candidate, Geoffrey Mwamba recently.

Meanwhile, Major Chizyuka has dismissed allegations by UPND president Hakainde Hichilema that he was paid K10 million by a named political party to cause confusion in the pact.

He challenged Mr. Hakainde to disclose the names of people who gave him (Chizyuka) the money and the source of the same money.

And speaking after the confusion, PF Kanyama Constituency Chairman Isaac Mujulu accused Major Chizhuka of causing confusion in the UPND/PF pact.

Mr. Mujulu accused the Namwala MP of having received K28 million from a named political party in order to destabilize the opposition political pact.

He stated that the declaration of Zambia as a Christian nation should unite Zambians but he expressed disappointment that some people resorted to funning anarchy in the political sphere.

  1. What is the source of cadre mentality? Is there a way to help cadres see a meaningful life? How can we help young people not to fall into cadre temptation?

  2. Major Chizyuka, if you feel that the values that the PF/UPND Pact are different from yours, then resign from your party instead of causing confusion.

  3. i can smell civil war in Zambia….maybe its long overdue! so many opportunists in the political scene. everybody is in politics for monetary gains…what a shame! God help us!!!

  4. #2 above meant, ‘if you feel that the values of that the PF/UPND Pact are different from yours, then resign from your party instead of causing confusion.’

  5. #1 This is caused by high rates of unemployment and hunger. Create jobs and increase education opportunities……

  6. ISAAC MUJULU,
Wabe ibolo, and who gave chizyuka money when he stood against the mwanawasa goverment proposed irrigation project that was supposed to displace a lot of families on the kafue flats some people are born fighters unlike sata the coward.UPND will never be the same HH must as well join PF and become sata’ vice.

  7. This is indeed sad, Its very sad situation, why did they disrupt his conference, they should have let him speak so you can hear what it is he wanted to say. These allegations of being bought dont make any sense whatsoever, because he seems to only want HH to be the leader of the pact. Which is expected, since he is UPND, now what I dont understand is why iss HH angry with him. Unless HH has another agenda. Chizyuka and HH just reconcile so you can properly handle sata, we all want what you want HH in state house 2011.

  8. Mujuulu please, how do you come up with such a figure, dont try and turnish the image of a good man, the only problem you are facing here is that he doesnt think Sata should be the presidential candidate of the pact. Even if its buying people, if he is the govts mouth peace, do you think this conference would have been interrupted. Thank God he chose to avoid confrontation, this is the begining of political anarchy in Zambia. We should let people support who they want to support, and we saying no to SATA, Viva HH and Viva gallant Chizyuka, speak your mind!

  9. I mentioned before on this blog that Chizyuka hates Sata so much he can not foresee a situation where two of them would work together. He does not realise that the two political parties can not form govt on their own the only way forward is to work in partnership. Another important issue is that Sata is more popular than HH and the only way to take power away from the MMD is to use Sata. Actually Sata is more sensible than this stupid RB who is the worst corrupt and tribalist on this planet earth. Most of the senior positions have been taken over by easterners in parastatals and government. The idea of disrupting Chizyuka is perfect for the political atmosphere in Zambia because he should not think he is untouchable. he has now become RB’s spokesperson.

  10. THIS IS A SAD TURN OF EVENTS WE WERE WAITING TO HEAR WHAT THIS SO CALLED MAJOR CHISOSO WAS ABOUT TO SAY. ANYWAY THE AMAZEMENT CONTINUES. MUMBWE IS IN KASAMA TALKING RUBBISH ABOUT SATANA. CHISOSO IS IN LUSAKA THREATENING THE PACT. IF THE OPPOSITION CONTINUES WITH THIS UNSTABILITY I DONT SEE THEM DETHRONING MMD IN 2011. WHAT IS NOW HAPPENING IN ZAMBIA IS MERELY SEBANA WIKUTE.

  11. Egotistic and unprincipled individuals will destroy our MMD; people such as M. Mulongoti from FDD, RB. Banda from UNIP, desperate Ministers and NEC members whose survival depends on having access to public resources do not have the interest of the party at heart.
Mulongoti is too dull to be a NEC member and worse still Minister. How can he say our MMD cannot raise funds for a convention? How does he ask other members who intend to contest the presidency of our party to prove what they have done for the party, ask them to fund the convention and question their political background when such members have been MMD members for far a long period than RB. Banda who just came from UNIP yesterday and has nothing to show for what he has done for the party apart from his effort in the past to…

  12. past to destroy MMD while in UNIP and his efforts to destroy it now by bring back UNIP mentality in MMD.
We, MMD members, in districts and provinces NEED a convention before 2011 to elect our leaders and appraise our manifesto in readiness for 2011 elections. One thing for sure is that most NEC members are not performers, as an indicator, you have failed to raise funds for a convention which is a very important item in our democratic dispensation and thus you are afraid that you would be voted out. Furthermore, we members know that during the convention we do get empowered economically by some allowances and donation contenders offer us and if an INDEPENDENT poll is done on MMD members at the grass root level on whether a convention should be held before 2011 most members will say YES…

  13. YES let us have a convention.
    My appeal to NEC and all well meaning MMD members is that;
    1. NEC should stop the stage managed calls to have our convention postponed and let us abide by our constitution
    2. NEC should spearhead the mobilisation of funds for a convention, asking people like Magande and Mpompo, will just show that other members and especially NEC members are incompetent
    3. NEC should not frustrate us, the ordinary members by imposing things on us and let impartiality and democracy prevail in the party ranks instead of suppressing those with legitimate and honest calls like Western Province PEC. We are the unsung heroes of MMD, we are the voters and organisers at the grass root level so do not frustrate us.

  14. Okey, #18 mule, we are twins then, so no problem. Its only that the other bloggers will get confused as to which mule is which (new or old). You know what I mean.
Its okey if you insist, though I ve been blogging on LT using that pseudonym for quite sometime now. 🙂

  15. There’s nothing nothing wrong with the Major’s sentiments. HH and Sata need to come out openly and tell the followers who the presidential candidate should be. UPND and PF are fundamentally different parties and how the PACT intends to harmonize these desparities needs to be sorted out at the earliest possible time. The pipo need to know how power will be shared betweeen HH and SATA. While the PACT is a positive means-to-an-end for UPND and PF, its lack of TRANSPARENCY and FULL disclosure about these isses will inevitably spell out its failure! Someone has to speakout. I salute u Chizyuka for ur courage….

  16. #22, Violence, whether in the MMD or UPND should not be condoned and encouraged. Its all bad, and so yesterday! Let’s promote free speech, tolerance and a democratic culture!

  17. Violence is condoned at levels of society. Are these the rules of the newly formed PF-UPND g a n g ? Chizyuka has to be heard.

  18. There is a lot of civic education needed in Zambia. Zambians should refuse to be used by any politician to cause violence. Zambians need to learn from the Kenyan situation. Kibaki and Odinga will not be prosecuted for the violence that took place but the Planners which are some top cabinet people, MP’s and top businessmen will be sent to the Hague. Those who physically carried out the violence will also be tried. So in summary the two leaders that the youth cadres were fighting for will come out clean but the cadres will suffer the consequences. Big lesson to learn, there are better mature ,peaceful ways to fight for democracy from all angles.

  19. Major Chizuka must know that gone are the days when tribes in Zambia hated each other. Most of the people of that generation are dead and a new generation has come where there is inter marriages. Very soon their will be no tribe in Zambia just like in the western world. Therefore Chizyuka must change his inpid and d.u.l.l thinking which is against Bembas. Who said Bembas and Tongas cant work together? This is d.u.l.l thinking in this modern world as demonstrated by the USA where a most dipised race-black is ruling. Time has changed guys. So if there is any Bemba or Tonga out there who thinks he or she cat work with the other, he/she is living in an utopia coz today many Bembas have married Tonga women. Ask the SDA-church, where many Bemba guys have maried tonga ladies. CHANGE CHIZYUKA.

  20. Kambongolo boyi, you are missing the point, its not about hating Tongas or Bembas boyi, apppa the problem is that Chizyuka, has some form of influence, which is makingcertain people uncomfortable. So the fact that he strongly supports HH, makes it difficult for certain people…cha shala fye kumubepekesha so that he is sorted out. Tapali issue ya bu bemeba no bu tonga, issue apa is chizyuka supporting ba HH. Period! we are not fools!

  21. #27 …. I think you have not followed issues that have led to the expulssion of Chizhuka. Dear Chishuka has been issuing damaging comments against PF since the PACT was formed. Even before the PACT was formed there had been attempts all along to form it. Eg in the last elections 2008 , Chizhuka was the man who did not want to work with SATA just because Sata is Bemba. Let him change for once coz time has changed. Imagine here Iam in sweden all my friends are Tongas, I have no bembas and we get very well with each other. I am Bemba but we treat each other as bothers…it is really great. This is how all people should live ..no tribal hatred as we are one people. The time when tribes fought each other is gone , today is unity and one purpose. Only a d.u.l.l person can clean to his tribe.

  22. I follow this man’s debates closely, it is true, this man fights on principle. Elo he doesnt fear, mu parliament amakamba straight. Sometimes he is misunderstood becoz of character. Butti naine I understand your problem chizyuka, we need to know who will lead us, lets know if presido ni Sata, coz ngati ni sata, let us make other arrnagements. Kulibe kuguliwa apa, we know you have not been bought, ngati nikukugula sembe banakugula kudala, infact from start you have been saying HH should lead. So now where is the problem. We just need more principled politicians like you thats all we need in Zambia. We kow how tribal Sata is he hates everyone, including lozi’s, so am just as worried as you. tell us whether HH will lead this pact period, then major can put his stragnth to fight MMD

  23. There is a saying which says if you cant win them join them, major chizyuka u definately cant win over Mr Sata, So if you dont like the PF/UPND Pact then resign or else join them. Ama press conference will not help you to archieve your displeasure against the pact lol

  24. Kambongolo,
You are a liar.chizyuka does not want to work with sata because of his tribe no,but because he knows sata is a populist who wants to ride on the back of UPND to get to state house.once he archives that even the myth about the nosensical pact will be shreded to pieces.all UPND members will be sidelined and the PF will reign supreme and you ought to know what a PF cadre stands for.beside that you know or you will pretend not to know what sata can do when he wants to entrench his position as a head.you will cry!

  25. #31, I agree with u to a large extent.
I think that’s the main concern Chizyuka is trying to raise. He’d rather HH led the pact than Sata., and rightly so. The issue is not so much about tribalism. chizhyuka has been fighting for indigenous Zambians land rights not just in southern province, even on the copperbelt kuba Lamba. UPND cadres need to put pressure on their leader, if at all they need to be told the truth about whether its a PF-UPND or UPND-PF pact !

  26. I think Conventions are needed for all the parties in Zambia. This will enable people to make informed decisions based on facts not assumptions.

  27. What’s mind boggling is the number of political opportunists displaying their intricate personal dramas in this power struggle.

  28. Apparently the Major wanted to tell the nation that HH has hatched a scheme of poisoning the King Cobra shortly before the pact decides their joint candidate so that he sails unopposed. Anyway, it terms of bribal bigotry, HH, Kanitundila and Sata are the same. They are creatures ancient in their manner of doing politics, they are wedded to stinking tribalism. It was bad enough for us to have Kanitundila, another tribal bigot in power will break the back of this country. See, why was Banda speaking chichewa in Kasama? Malawans are foolish, reminds me of Kaunda’s “Musiyaleni 4 malozi” when NM’s ghost was sweating him!

  29. Politics of poverty…..or is it politricks cos i see a lot of bribes going round at the expense of the whole nation. Oh what a pity for mother Zed.

  30. Seems like just yesterday we used to look down on Angola when they had war but take a while and have a look at the pace Angola has taken in thier developmental plans which they have actually implemented into action.

  31. Sata President, HH prime Minister, Portofilios equally shared between th two parties. justice Kabaza Chanda as Chief justice. RB goes to Jail with Chanda Beu. Zambia back on course

  32. this is boring, why is it that politics in Zambia are based on personal attacks, the same people who attack others do they think that they are saints?

  33. UPND do not persecute a person who is simply asking you to tell the nation the truth. Who will lead the pact. Do not hide behind tribalism and selling out, when you know there is no sell out. Just do us all a favor tell us if its HH or Sata, so you can know whether your Pact will hold after that. Period!! Stop persecuting people, act like democratic people with divergent views for once!

  34. viva pact its do or die this time around, mmd kuya bebele everyone want change of government especially the us the youths so any one speaking against the pact will not find it easy ,the pact is the only way forward. chizyuka should watch out this is just kadyonko of what to come

  35. The pact is a real threat to MMD and dont be suprised that so many once principled opposition politicians are falling prey to the sebana wikute syndrome, today its chizyuka, wait and see who props up mailo as the pact puts heat on MMD

  36. HH ukupwalala yaba, Sata is moving forward, and gaining ground, how can you chase you strongest supporter. Wake up ichilema, yafauke game. lol!

  37. This is why we say the opposition can’t form government. They are in total disarray! Leave that to me, the Master Dribbler because this is like a Sunday school picnic.

  38. How can HH evehn dream of outsmarting the snake himself. Hh is joking. Satana is riding on his back. Lets wait and see ….the cobra will strike hh and in a split second he will die from the dagga stained venommmmm

  39. The MMD Gvt is at it again. I can smell RBs Dirty socks again. Those that hate SATA and wish that Zambian shud forever be governed by them , yo days r numbered. There is Nothing good about RB. On his recent trip to Kasama to drum up support for his candidate he had to ask the PS to for Civil servants to attend his last rally so that you people in Lsk can think that he was drawing crowds. He has no shame to say the least. Every person they kud bribe was bribed. Shawa was even name bashi Chola because of the money. But learn from me that the MMD can never win an election in Ksm. So Chizyuka was bought like it or not. The Gvt has been funnying trouble in the pact. This pact has given them sleeoless night so to say. So akapondo bwaba…………. lo. for thinking selfishly

  40. The Post are no longer independent press they were in 1991. They are have now shifted to the extreme right where they continue to represent views of right wing lunatics. I am personally dismayed at a campaign of bare faced lies on the person of Rupiah. Mr Banda’s govt seems to relax when they fully know that some NGOs are subversive organisations they need to get tough on. The confederation of the Post and the subversive NGOS are now officially the extension of the UPND/PF pact. They are anxious to remove Mr Banda from office at the next election.

  41. Rupiah is an economist, he understands the meaning of opportunity cost. He knows that miss the opportunity of reconciling with Chiluba, MMD would have badly lost in the two northern provinces. Rupiah understands that the brain is not a decoration on the shoulders, it needs to used and that is exactly what he is doing.

  42. #56 OLILO. What makes you think that Chiluba can make RB to win an election in Luapula? I come from the same area as Chiluba and I happen to have attended the primary school(Mambilima or Johnstons Falls Upper) which he had attended previously. But I can assure I can not give him 1/2 a ballot because of the things he has done. No.1 of these is to kill the original spirit of the MMD in order to advance his own agenda. As for the acquital that is is just temperal. No matter how much Kabonde threatens us we shall triumph until Chiluba appears before a proper court. The guy was found with a case to answer and that itself speaks volumes on his misdeeds. Of course you can support him because you may have a stake in the whole affair.

  43. What kind of a Major gets himself and Impis with spears gets disarmed by weaponless cadres. He is a coward after all.. I hear he was the first to take cover…

  44. Let them keep on disorganising themselves. Us in MMD are well organized and we value each other’s opinions. Come 2011 MMD will scoop the elections with a very big shocking margin. I have seen for myself how well MMD is doing in the rural areas. MMD ni zee!

  45. I laughed my lungs out when I read that the guy was first to take to his heels – life is really treasured pipo, even by those with ranks
