President Rupiah Banda says he is not afraid of anyone standing against him as Party President.
Speaking upon arrival at Livingstone International Airport ahead of the Zambia Air force Pass out Parade today, Mr Banda said it was not true to say that the MMD was threatened.
”Iam not afraid of anyone standing against me as President. We are free in our party and will fight for democracy,” he said.
Mr Banda said all members of the party in any case who the MMD was being compared to have never held any convention.
”Have you ever heard of the United Party for National Development (UPND) or the Patriotic Front going to a convention?” he said.
”Don’t worry about what you are hearing that no one is allowed to express himself in the party. You can’t be a member of the party and start airing your views through the press,” he said.
He urged the MMD to remain united and focused adding that the party had channels of communication that party members needed to use.
And Mr Banda has condemned the UPND for going with spears and axes to attack UPND Namwala Member of Parliament Robby Chizyuka.
Mr Banda has also said there is no need to worry about the UPND/PF Pact as it was a pact of two ambitious people.
”I don’t know if we should change the Constitution to have two Presidents. Sata has tried to stand as President three times and Hakainde Hichilema has tried twice at his age, he said.
Mr Banda also said when his name was floated to stand in the 2011 elections in Livingstone, he had reminded the cadres that the MMD had priorities and the determination of the leader for the 2011 would depend what the MMD would put in terms of development.[quote]
He said if MMD wins the Kasama parliamentary seat and the Kasiya ward, then the pact would be finished.
Speaking earlier, Southern Province Minister Daniel Munkombwe said the PF/UPND Pact was nothing but an arrangement.
Mr Munkombwe said if there is an election in Kasama, Mr Hichilema doesn’t go there to support the candidate and wondered how he was busy campaigning for a ward councilor in Kasiya ward.
And MMD Provincial Chairman Solomon Muzyamba said the province was politically stable. He said the Pact was an arrangement between two leaders who were members of that Pact.
Mr Muzyamba said the people were however not in it adding that the sentiments coming from Mr Chizyuka were an indication of the feelings of the people.
The President is tomorrow expected to officially commission 18 officers at an Officers Pass out Parade.

What rae the results in the Kasama by elections? Any news?
Now RB seriously, you thought FTJ would help you to win the Kasama seat. Guess what even Kafupi knew you wouldn’t, so what does he do? he goes for his tried and tested trick of running away from serious issues – medical review. So far Kafupi’s performance hasn’t been satisfactory therefore you as chairman of this Government you ought to put questions to him, to explain why his alleged popularity didn’t help Mugala to win. The fact is Mugala is better than GBM and he’s local, so why has he lost? Make FTJ work for his freedom like a madman 24/7 365 days.
Ah, I see. So the pact has won. Long live the pact. Abash MMD!
MMD has been buried alive in the Kasama
gbm has won by landslide
RB if you have no money for the convention just ask FTJ to release part of his US$8m in Zamtrop./ after all you saved his neck so he has to scratch your back.
con’t. by election. Wats next Kanitundila?
LOL mmd has lost,im going to drink to that today, more over its a friday
Is it just my computer or what? Is this man smiling or crying? If he is smiling, how does he look when he is crying?
I shall be the happiest Living Zambian Around if MMD does not go for the Convention reasons being:
1) I do not like MMD
2) If MMD goes for the convention they may choose a more credible President and create competition for 2011
3) I would want the pact to Face Rupiah Banda in 2011 and show him the way out
#10 classic that cracked me up,looks like he just swallowed a fish hook or rather constipated
Chioneni cisilu pamwamba apa! Onani! Onani ung’anga pamenso onani! No wonder Mugala lost in Kasama, how can you have such an ugly campaign manager? But Banda awe sure he is too ugly, had he been an animal he would be a hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia.
Kasama by-elections final results:
GBM (PF-UPND Pact)- 10,998; BM (MMD) – 4,064; Ng’ona (UNIP) – 104; ALL Peoples’ Congress – 24.
Viva Pact!! And here comes Solwezi central 15th November…………………………Viva pact!! Wina azaliiiiiila!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
#11 Sam Lindo you are right , let them be led to their grave ! I wish the people should stop attacking RB on this issue so that he is challednged by the PACT !
One more to go for the pact-Solwezi central. I can’t also wait for 2011
GBM polled 10688 votes
Mugala polled 4100 votes
Congrats UPND/PF pact and GBM. Please HH and Sata try to accompany each other on your campaign trails. Solwezi central is next. grab the seat from MMD and they will wake up and perform.
PF PACT 10688
MMD 4184
“…President Rupiah Banda
PRESIDENT Rupiah Banda has told MMD members agitating for the holding of the national convention to resign from the party and join political parties they think will hold conventions soon….” WHICH IS WHICH ? Has this man got a Press Aide ? That guy must be fired along with his Boss !
Did you guys see the picture on the front page of The POST yesterday?
They were all sleeping (not dosing) when RB was addressing the electorates
in Kasama; and you expect MMD to win?
Mulongoti, Fuel Shortage Minister, & the Health Minister – all went to Kasama
to sleep and alas, obviously they were paid allowances te? Somebody comment.
Ok we are joining the pact… to hell with MMD
This is a good genesis of better things to come in 2011. MMD is defeatable.
Viva Kasama!
Where is this person called by these names Patriot, S h i n y a Citizen, MMD Chief Boot Licker, the dim Mr Capitalist?
I bet you know the result people. 10 600 to the mighty pact and a paltry 4 100 to the party which will die like UNIP come 2011.
So despite wasting tax payers money in campaigning for Mugala and that f o o l i s h stating clearly that he was anti pact, they still lose? People of Kasama no force that ka chifi out.
Thank you guys for the news. At least MMD and RB have been put in their rightful place. What about that chief who meddled in politics at the wrong time? What about the ever nauseating and clueless Senior Citizen? Time to swallow pride, losers. So now two people from Northern Province have been shown that bootlicking does not matter in this day and age politics. The chief and Senior Citizen (Ben Kangwa) today have learned a bitter lesson of not taking people for granted. What next Senior Citizen? Be a man, honor up, baby. I love this. RB wasted national and man hours chasing some ghost in Kasama. Will they release the funds they ordered Musokotwane for the Teachers’ houses roofs? Ama politics yabupuba! RB is a criminal worse than FTJ. Mwanawasa made a mistake appointing that thug.
When is the next bye-election, in Solwezi Central?
Where is this person called by these names Patriot, S h i n y a Citizen, MMD Chief Boot Licker, the dim Mr Capitalist?

It is a tradition in Zambia that we should change governments every after 20 years, though I suggest we should change every after 5-years and put on trial criminals who go there to steal. In 2012,we shall put on trial RB,Mike Mulongoti and Shikapwasha, coz these are proper criminals who are in the forefront in corrupting peoples minds.Ooohhh gosh!,I had forgotten Kunda and Jeff Kande.Next is Solwezi,I want the Opposition to win.
Next stop Solwezi Central, This is the end of MMD, Banda has single handedly destroyed it. of cause with the help of Shikapwashya and Mulongoti. Viva the Pact go go go 2011 is for the pact.
Come on pact now. Go for Solwezi. The campaign starts now. Viva pact.
this guy has too much skin on his face. his forehead looks like an accordion. he needs a niptuck “cause a face lift just cant work.
Where is the prophet of doom a Mr. senior citizen, who yesterday declared MMD had won? To hell with MMD and its president. Even if RB is married to Chiluba now and kiss each other all the time, their marriage will not take them anywhere.
Babanaya ba MMD, Solwezi central here the come 19 November te!
Hello Mr Capitalist, Chief Boot Licker, Shenior Sh it zen, Patriot! Where are you?
Mumbi we are still waiting for you to spill more beans! Come on!
Roll on Solwezi! People of Kasama kick ka chifi out now please. lol!
Chitimupuba you see leave the politics mwasebana ba para****matuvi of the Bembaland Shame.
The pipo of Kasama Central have spoken clear and louder the PF-UPND have carried the day. So when RB and the likes ask those who are for the convention to resign, is he not reducing votes for MMD and himself. Looking at yesterday’s “Post” lead pictures it appears RB was addressing the croward whilst his ministers where taking naps meaning they had already known the results. Now that GBM and PF-UPND pact have taken the day, I hope the projects as stated by RB will not be discontuned for the sake of development. As for Burton Mugala that was baptism in politics and continue working for the pipo of Kasama there is always next time. The pipo have spoken through the ballot and should now focus on working together as Zambians. It reamins to be seen what Solwezi Central will offer next month.
Well congratulations to MR GBM. Will examine the results in detail and comment. It was a touch campaign and we did the best we could and how best we could but our best was not good enough. The people want PF in that region and as a party we really need to work extra hard in 2011. Congrats PF and off to Solwezi we go
So, this is what MMD can get after corrupting electorates with free meals at chikumanino restaurants? These MMD morons dont learn because this is the same strategy they used in 2006 when Kachingwe lost the same seat to Chishimba. Congratulations to kasama central electorates for supporting the pact.
Twaba wina eya eeeeeeeh tuka bwela muma insa……………….mwe mb……………………mweh
Banda has moved the Ministry of Tourism to State House hence the road show that we see from this loser.
#17 I agree with you.HH and Sata should share the same platform fron now onwards.Congrats Pact.
Great result in Kasama. Congrats to the winner
Thanks the dim Boot Licker. I hear people of Kasama want development. They want to have access to their accounts at home on the net which you didn`t know about until we enlightened you here on LT. Roll on Solwezi!
GBM HAS WON THE KASAMA SEAT BY A BIG MAGINE roughly 10,000 against 4,000.
#37 Observer I couldn`t agree more. The good thing is the pact has won. Time to push for all the rpromises RB made. Don`t go to sleep people of Kasama. Push for all he promised you. Viva pact!
Let us all forgive Paramount Chief Chitimukulu, he just got over excited by RB and his entourage coz he thought perhaps his evacuation to India for specialised treatment was not from taxpayers money but RB and MMD. This happens if father in-laws have bowed before son in-laws even knowing very well their daughter is abused day in day ou just coz of a few coins. There are many who can behave like that. The game is over and let those who surrounf the Mwine advise accordingly. As for GBM the long battle has been won and should go to parliament to fully represent the pipo of Kasama Central effectively.
we people of Solwezi Central are up to give the seat to the PACT. I love this please join me in the evening at Popos Pool.
Ppo of solwezi show these smooth criminals that they are finished.
#48 Appraise me on the MMD candidate for Solwezi Central coz from Kachepa, its either Ephram Meteyo or Teddy Kasonso. Please clarification.
My advice to GBM: Go to Kasama set up milling outlets which will be buying locally grown maize at favourable price. You will creat employment and business for the people who have shown trust in you.
THANKYOU KASAMA RESIDENTS! WE SALUTE YOU FOR STANDING OUT WELL. YOU HAVE SHOWN US THAT EVEN IF RB CAMPED IN KASAMA FOR 1 YEAR CAMPAIGNING, HE WOULD FALL ON HIS KNEES. WE ARE PROUD OF YOU KASAMA. SOLWEZI YOU ARE NEXT TO MAKE US PROUD AS WE KICK OUT RB AND HIS FOOLS OUT!!!!!
Hallow everybody. Congrats GBM and the pact. You have really walloped these MMD characters. We shall wait for the Solwezi showdown this November 15th.
Well, Very good then call for the convention “poor” RB. Go ahead and prove yourself. Shame the devils.
As for the pact don’t be complacent. You managed to curb the electoral malpractises and vote stealing from MMD and the electoral commission. Bravo for keeping a watchfull eye like HH said. Next Solwezi Central apply the same tactics. If you can’t beat them ……. well join them.
Allow me to bring about a “perceived” tribal remark perhaps today it will make sense. ONLY A KAONDE SHOULD WIN THE ELECTION IN NOVEMBER IN SOLWEZI .
I can rest assure the pact that it won’t be easy.
bamudala if you are not are afraid of being challenged, then why are sponsoring pipo to support the postponement of the convention.peaple what do you think about this old man
….UPND will also win in Solwezi
#56
If this was meant to be funny, nobody is amused.
LT tell us the Kasama results please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kwena babachenjesha ba MMD. Shame they still think they are popular they are yet to see the worst in the coming months.
PF/UPND CONGRATS,ITS TIME TO SHOW THIS CORRUPT GVMNT THAT WE THE PIP[O DONT WANT THEM BY CAMPAIGNING HARD IN SOLWEZI.
#49 how can u say Smooth Criminals, these are rogues, Madoff is a smooth criminal who used pursuasion to steal from you not these.
Thankyou very much people of Kasama we are really proud of you Guys. RB should know that we should not be taken for granted like in the Unip Days. Please continue with the Spirit & support that you have shown. MMD must go at all cost. People of Solwezi do likewise. We are counting on you. RB must go he is bring old manners back.
Where does the Chitimukulu stand now????????????
#56, have respect for the dead. or have you resurrected?
#56 please remove that picture. Please dont bring ghosts on thesite we dont what to have bad luck we have already started winning eg Kasama victory.
#58 chekc #14 LT is certainly partisan and wont way which party
Our Politics- Burton Mugala was obviously the better candidate.GBM won, Why?? Its a fight between the PACT and MMD.Let the MMD take note, the real test will be in Solwezi. Dont care if Sata and HH are in love or not, just stand together for a bit and kick the buggers out.As usual we are settling for less than we deserve but it is still better than Nyamasoya and MMD.
#58 chekc #14 LT is certainly partisan and wont say which party
I guess Chief Chitimukulu was fooling RB, and he was not wise enough to read between the lines.
Please Mr Sata consider us fo rthe pact
RB is not anywhere among the handsome.
Good work people of Kasama. My prayers are answered. I raise my cup. VIVA PACT. I pray that the people of North Western Province will do the same. In the interest of the NATION we need change.
VIVA PF…VIVA GBM!!!
Solweziiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!!!!!!
Not long ago we heard that those who want the convesion should resign from MMD. Today we are hearing that I am not afraid. Which is which now?
Why did MMD go with the cabinet of ministers just for a bye election….shame
56; HAVE SOME RESPECT FOR THE DEAD. IF THAT WAS MEANT TO BE A JOKE, IAM NOT AMAZED AND I SEE IT AS FOOLISHNESS.
HH and Sata should now focus on the solwezi seat. We deserve respect as Zambians. Zambia is for the 11+ Millions and not RB, Mulongoti, Shikapwasha, Senior Citizen and the entire MMD crooks.
I am non-partisan. But I would like democracy to flourish in Zambia. So far ALL the parties are failing miserably. MMD was the last to hold a convention, but since then the reactionary forces have been at work. Parties can only form pacts after their grass root people agree and this can only be debated at national fora. HH and Sata have bulldozed their wills on their party members. Now, two wrongs (or in this case) 3, cannot make a right. Heritage party has never even elected a President! So it goes on with EVERY party in Zambia! Your excellency, please destroy this fungus among us and allow a convention, even an extraordinary one. Then, people like me will regain interest in politics. At the moment I am apathetic.
ha ha ha ha well done GBM. Kanitundila is humiliated. Solwezi……….for PACT
VIVA PF/UPND PACT and congratulations for scooping the Kasama seat.
RB is a liability to the MMD as even his camping in Kasama for a week did not help.
Well done Pact! The leaders we have now should wake up and smell the coffee! Good lesson for RB and his cohorts!
#49 Bernard Madoff is a smoothcriminal, not these thugs who take advantage of poverty stricken people,Madoff is the man behind NASDAQ stock xchange, worth $65 bilion and sentenced to 150yrs….mmd roll your tongues in and dance to the tunes of the PACT,,,SUCK SUCKIT SUCKIT IN (el diego)
Any word on the whereabouts of Senior Citizen?
He boasted yesturday about MMD winning or he would quit blogging. Lets hope he keeps his word because we are tired of him and his contributions.
If there is no convention, who will draw up the manifesto? What manifesto will the party faithful take to the door steps? What unanimity will their be to campaign for a particular candidate? It may be that RB wishes that people will vote on PAST and PRESENT development issues, well and good but people also want to know the vision for the future. There may be no money, but the convention itself can be a powerful platform for campaigning, much better than the hop-on-hop off zigzag throughout the country using state resources that may be subject to accusations of electoral fraud. Hold a convention. Empower your foot soldiers to go back to their constituencies and campaign for you. You will never regret it. Their is MMD money in ZAMTROP, according to FTJ.
He is busy gallivanting in Livingstone, watching the wildlife, the beautiful scenery and relaxing on taxpayers earnings instead of urgently tackling the fuel crisis that faces the nation…………………………..Jeez is this guy serious…….is he a misplaced clown in the president’s job……………..what a guy he’s levels of unseriouness and detachment from the masses is stuff that legend is made of
LT says:69 comments on “Am not afraid of being challenged .The comments so far are out of context on this topic. They just praysing the victory of GBM.Echomulushila.bcoz you dont widen out.
When the pact lost in chitambo everybody was quite, you should start getting excited only if MMD will be losing in there strong hold Areas, like if they lose in Solwezi then that will be a clear indication of how they are going to fare in General elections to come. Â
I salute all MMD functionaries inn blogs and on the ground, you the pride of Zambian democracy with unparallel maturity.Thumbs up!!
As mothers of democracy, MMD congratulates PF for retaining its seat though statistically with far much lower votes than their 2006 performance.GBM is wished all the best in his tenure and pledged development for Kasama. There can only be one winner in any democratic race, and in Kasama its been GBM.
The outcome statistically only presents the opportunity for revision of rigorous strategies and opportunities misused. With immediate effect i go on the ground and enter active politics. To the hundreds whose role has been n blogging i say stay active we will drive politics from political war rooms to the grassroots and time will record every dynamic.Statistically MMD has done very well if historic patterns are to be invoked in comparative studies.
Go and cry Senior Citizen it will get better. But, a word of caution, do not take people for granted. It happened to UNIP to will happen to Mwadya Mweka Daddy-watch this space.
The worrying thing though is an alarming voter apathy rate.Kasama has one of the highest number of registered voters yet recording dwindling dismal turn out.To the grassroot functionaries i say heads up November 1st, 2009 for Solwezi.Whatever you had put in, salutations!!!!
Xavior or Savior Chishimba, Deserter, you are a kwindi. You thought you will disadvantage the PF. Alas, this shows that your sub-standard party that you formed is going nowhere. Deserter Chishimba nuts like you are bringing the country down through tax payers money wasted to organize the unnecessary bye elections. I can assure you chishimba that you are a let down and as such you are off the political arena just like losers like old Ben Mwila and the likes.
A timely warning to the pact though even as they chose MPs, please interview the chaps before they waste our time.
Bye elections resulting from deaths are understood but intentional resignations are malicious ans uncalled for. SOME ZAMBIANS NEVER LEARN
I feel sorry the MMD….they got 4 pin votes against 10 pin votes….shame
GBM’s statement that only a Bemba should be voted for in Kasama have become true. I like pipo like GBM who are able to take the Bull by its horns by saying this which angered most wicked Zambians. NOW IS TIME FOR THE KAONDES IN SOLWEZI. In Solwezi Central only a Kaonde should be voted for
Aba nabena ba RB amatobo as if aletinisha abaiche iyee. Is he crying coz the PACT has won??
Senior Citizen please remember to fullfil the promises you made. We are watching!
This is from Post website……….
PF pact retains Kasama seat
THE opposition Patriotic Front (PF) has scooped the Kasama Central Parliamentary by-elections by a landslide victory. Lusaka businessman Godfrey Mwamba Bwalya popularly known as (GBM) won the seat after getting over 10, 000 votes under the PF/UPND ticket.Ruling Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) candidate Burton Mugala managed to get just over 4, 000 votes as a closest rival while the rest of the candidates scored less than 2, 000 votes combined. The Kasama parliamentary seat fell vacant following the resignation of former PF Member of Parliament Xavier Chishimba who has since formed his own political party.GBM was last night officially declared as the new MP for Kasama Central, a provincial town in Northern Zambia
#87 Seniro Citizen, mmd functionaries are the pride of zambian democracy with unparallel maturity??? hang on a minute, wheres the maturity if your acting president can stand on the pulpit and say stuff like VIONENI VIMASILU ivo, thats no maturity, ubufi ubwakunya, thats no maturity!!! democracy when the president is engineering calls for the suspension of a convention…you have your head up your backside so deep you will choke to death
#90 Senior Citizen your reasoning is pathetic. As a senior citizen you are supposed to know by-elections are never and never will inpsire even in developed countries. You are a pathetic chav!
Nizi to win pa kasasa congrats GBM
Senior Citizen predictive science has failed you again, make sure you retire as promised anyway i don’t take you seriously because I know you are a piece of S#$%^.
Well played the Kasama mayor. The few that turned up to welcome RB plus a few rigged votes got them a paltry 4000 plus. This fellow Zambians is after all the tax payers money spent by MMD camping in Kasama. Bring on Solwezi now!
Blogging would not be the same without senior citizen to rile us. Senior citizen please be like the MMD and do not keep any of your campaign promises stay with us. On a more serious note this vote was not about the better candidate it was about telling MMD that the people of Zambia are tired. I hope Solwezi follow suit. is anyone going to actual contribute to the article above??
LT why haven`t you written an article about the Kasama by-election?
Well done Kasama Central. That was a good PUNCH and i bet our Paramount chief is now fully aware that people cannot be swayed anyhow. As for GBM, pliz grow up and stop behaving like a kaponya.Â
RB if you have no money for the convention just ask FTJ to release part of his US$8m in Zamtrop./ after all you saved his neck so he has to scratch your back.
THIS FOR THE GUY WHO IS COMPLAINING THAT THE BLOGGING IS OUTA CONTEXT
#104 Up your back side Sir Alcapone!
#103 Its not only LT who have not written about the Kasama election its all the papers. If it was MMD carrying the day it was going to be head line in the Times and Daily Mail. All the media companies have being bought by RB. Its a shame.
#90 Senior Citizen, good observation. Such is highly expected during farming times and other circumstances beyond our control like deaths.
However, you never know, maybe figures on the voters register were manipulated and blotted during registration time. Now that stakeholders are becoming more and more vigilant by the day, manoeuvers to rig become impossible to implement and the results show apathy judging by voter turnout.
Otherwise if people engage in vote buying and card compromising for a penny anything is possible. Many factors at play and we can only speculate. THE IMPORTANT ASPECT OF THE RESULTS IN KASAMA CENTRES ON STAKEHOLDER VIGILANCE. Then you can sing that this year there will be no cards. Uno mwaka takuli injuka. crazy cat, solitaire or frecell Name it
Iwe chi #93,take your arrogance elsewhere.Stop this tribal nonsense kapoli
“RB said if MMD wins the Kasama parliamentary seat and the Kasiya ward, then the pact would be finished”
Now that the PF-UPND pact has won Kasama and will win Kasiya, MMD is finished!!
The END!!! You better run now RB, when you still have time!!
Also the fact that THE IF YOU CAN’T BEAT THEM ….JOIN THEM SYNDROM becomes more apparent. Flex your muscle if they flex theirs …You know what I mean.
LT I agree with #103, we need an article so that critical analyses can start flowing.
Insaka I am beggining to think you are right. A few people have of late complained about that actually. But then again, it doesn`t help does it? Remember 1990-1991 before the elections when all the Daily Mail and Times of Zambia could write about was UNIP?
Matrix I do not think Senior Citizen is making any sense at ll unless you are him. By-elections the world over do not inspire at all and they have never. be it in a developed country or not. Mwadya Mweka Daddy managed 4000 and this was after the president and part of his cabinet set camp in Kasama. I would be worried!
RB thought he was laughing at his friends – looks like the joke’s on him. Wake up people of MMD and smell the coffee. If you think power is yours and yours alone, you’ll have a rude awakening in 2011 at the rate you’re going. But stubborn as you are, it looks like we’ll just have to watch you fall into that ditch – don’t say you weren’t warned. Repent and do right so it may go well with you.
I salute all MMD functionaries in blogs and on the ground. You folks are the pride of Zambian democracy with unparallel maturity.Thumbs up!!Kasama like any of the 150 constituencies is party of the national entity MMD needed but in a democracy, the ballot predicates events and presents opportunities.
MMD respects ballot verdicts without a shared character of accusing fingers characteristic of opposition politics.Loss of Kasama has not by any means created a national power paradigm shift. MMD remains in power and has capacity and and numerous opportunities to enhance desirable political dynamics.
Does anyone know who in the Pact is going to stand for the solwezi seat?
Keep up the good and unparallel job you always do babove and beyond.Do not lower yourselves to PF kaponyalism but retain the dignity and class of reasoning.
Serve to see that in the ranks and file, your politics will enjoy its share of interest and mass support at every level henceforth.MMD has a political predisposition to re-electrify at multi-level and multi-disciplinary action.Get plugged in and ready to serve the country from your comfort zones where.
Congrats to the Pact/GBM, but this was just a retention of their seat just like how MMD retained Chitambo. The real test for the Pact will be in Solwezi, they have to grab it from MMD to show meaningfull change, otherwise this trend will continue running up to 2011.All the best to the Pact!
As a matter of fact,MMD has done very well in kasama if smart reasoning takes precedence in looking at the outcome. In 2006 under Mwanawasa, MMD’s performance in this constituency was below par far below today’s results. The gap has been significantly reduced a development that should give PF Researcher if at all they have some the task to study such variables. Why the slide and highest apathy ever seen in kasama? Why has MMD within 3 years managed to reduce the once galloping gap? These are questions for smart rationalists not kaponyas.
The pact has also scooped the Kasiya ward; Pact – 9,854; MMD – 2,172; UNIP – 96 and Independent – 38.
We just winding up the counting process. Viva pact……………………….!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
119,
I think you do not know Zambian politics well, the ruling party usually does very well during by elections because they can concentrate all there resources in one place and overwhelm the opposion. Look at all general elections, check the number of seats the MMD has gunnered and how much they had at the end of the session of parliament. If they can fail to grab one from the opposition during a by election, it shows the weak position they are going to enter the general election with. Now, Bemba land is out, Barotseland is out. Southern is out, Lusaka is out, North-Western is anybody’s guesse. Banda is surely staring the abyss and this convention thing coupled with cozy cozy with Chiluba has dooned him and MMD.
I cant wait to see the last development efforts started by the MMD a couple of weeks ago in Kasama to contnue ,i can assure you all that was for show
Come Solwezi central elections, wina azalila………….!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Viva Pact!!
where was VJ when all this was happening?
I agree with one of the bloggers above, there is just too much beef in Nyamasoya’s face! It’s like someone was trying to do agriculture on it with a mouldboard plough powered by two donkeys, one called Shikapwasha and the other called Mulongoti.
#113 Good day.
Please, my comments are as I feel. I just gave out my thoughts. Senior Citizen can speak on his own behalf. In any case you are right. If your point is a proven statistical fact, I can only learn from you.
Look you guys, it is only in Zambia (and Africa) where people celebrate mere wining of an election other than the calibre of the person who has won because in most cases the meaning of leadership and governance is not even understood.
Bashi Chola Shawa, you were seen kneeling down begging for votes with a ka sack of money besides you. Shame on you!! You cant win by bribbing people. No we are going to meet you head on in Solwezi
Maybe if this abundant facial beef can be surgically harvested, it can be used as nutrients to fatten the likes of Mulongoti, VJ and Kunda from whatever sickness they have that seem to be making them loose weight at such a frightening rate. Especially with VJ, if no cure is found one should not be suprised to hear a kavuluvulu has whisked the ailing Ila buru right into hell aground.
Goodbye MMD!!!!!!!!!
One also wonders how with this massive loss Banda will be able to contain the looming rebellion in the MMD. All those who were still hanging on the fence can clearly see he is not invinsible, not even to a big bag of maize meal, it will enmbolden them to start questioning him especially with the convention. If I was Katele Kalumba, this would be the time to break ranks and make a stand but knowing the rotten coward that wizard is, his tail will forever remain emaculately tucked over his smelly tubulu prat.
We have done it in Kasama and next week we are heading to Solwezi. Its not not easy as the results looks but believe you me, we will deliver again in Solwezi. Personally iam sick en tired of the Movement for Mad Dogs. God help us in Solwezi as you have helped us in Kasama!

WAMONA GBM, IT PAYS TO BE IN THE PF/UPND PACT THAN IN MMD WHERE YOU KEPT LOOSING TO G LUBINDA KU KABWATA. MP AT LONG LAST. VIVA PACT. NOMBA NI SOLWEZI NJIKATA
It’s been long since I was here, how are u people!!!
“Am not afraid to be challenged?” is the headline I thought we should be referring to considering that LT has not bothered to report on the Kasama elections. My prayer is that they were not in the audience that RB was addressing as they might have fallen asleep to!
In all fairness, we are all in created in the image of God (RB too), All things considered ( Partisan and non-Partisan Politics) the Presidents looks should not be an issue and should be respected as such! He can’t change his looks unless he goes under the knife. I would rather we debate on the issues of governance and politics in general, though RB might the one to draw us to such! Lik ehe says “Vimasilu!
#129 Sebuloni Kamutanda, you have mentioned VJ ,where is he? He has been too quite. Tell us something about him. Iam already in Solwezi in readiness for the by election.VIVA the Pact.
We are not going back. We will go for a kill in Solwezi. Ba HH naba Sata on one platform will put a finishing touch to RB and MMD. Many people are praying for this pact – many have been paid to destroy the pact so peace loving Zambians open your eyes and protect the PACT!
Well done in Kasama and congratulations! Kasama people you wont regret voting for GBM!!!
People just inform me when MMD is finally out. Too many blood sucking parasites in that party. At least one district stood up to them. I hope the rest follow suit. Twanaka nenwe ba mambala

Hey people, I stand to be corrected! Who took the spear wielding cadres to Chizyuka’s press conference? I was meant to believe those spear carrying cadres were Chuzyuka’s “sympathisers” that he had ferried from his constituency in Namwala to come and dance foe him! Some must not be feeding RB with right imformation. Or is that he wants to say what he believes might have happened!

Viva UPND!! Viva PF!! Viva PACT!! Congrats Kasama people. Lets wind the clock down in Solwezi as well. MMD melt down.
There will always be celebrations for the oposition in town centres (and BOMAs). But that is not sufficient to win an election in zambia because most of the population is in the rural areas.
This is why the rulling party keeps wining every election.
The oposition has not done much to reach the rural community, where most of the citizens are. Votes are votes, unfortunately, whether they come from the educated or the uneducated. they are always counted as 1 vote per person.
Coming to the pact; it cant work. The reasons being:
1) They have not defined the leadership and election structures for 2011, this should have been the first before starting the journey and not knowing where you are going.
2) If they choose HH, the northern & Luapula will be MMD, if Sata then Southern – MMD.
143 Do you mean the just copy and paste instead of collecting news where possible for them selves. Are we ever going to have the press that will stand out to speak on what is on the ground unlike the one dictacted (unbalaced) regardless whom they support. Don’t tell me they haven’t heard that the PACT have won through GBM. Sorry if I have offended anyone, but let us face the facts

@Matrix #43! I am getting convinced LT was in the audience sleeping when the results were being counted! Sleeping up to this time! They only woke up to see what ZANIS had captured, copied it and pasted it! They taking visitors of their site for granted! Am begining to think they are copy cats! Lt wake up and originate! Copyright infringement is an offence, though you can get away with anything in ZED! Sorry I diverted from the Headline in question, but I guess like many other bloggers I have no choice! GBM and Kasama Central is still Breaking News!

Can some one pls give me the results of Kasama elections
Shame on you Bwezani, thats why youve lost ku kasama.Just ask yourself loosing by over 6000 votes, viva PF/UPND pact viva GBM.2011 HERE WE COME.
Greetings fellow bloggers
Can’t wait for things to change – for the better of course! Too busy to blog today, I wish y’all a happy weekend! I’m out…
GBM (bag of Mealie Meal) has made it at last Congrats. Last elections he in was in the wrong camp and he lost terribly to Given Lubinda in the Kabwata Const. Sometimes it matters which camp you are in to win. MMD is a wrong camp at the moment.
148 Contd..
The Pact will do more harm to the opposition than good. Loosing the entire Luapula and northern will be disasterous for the opposition.
Votes that go for Sata in Towns will also be split with a serious percentage going to MMD and less than 25% of Sata’s original supporters would go to HH.
In the same way if Sata becomes pact presidential candidate most of the supporters of HH in town will be lost to MMD apart from losing almost the entire of Southern and Western and Central to MMD. This analysis is not a wish but based on what our political landscape is like today. Any of such loses to MMD will be a dangerous thing for the opposition because already MMD has a lot of village votes they have always won with.
Those who think this is a nightmare should wait until 2011.
#107. Muli mbwasana bakaamba. I was just highlighting what you GBM said in Kasama. HH yesterday also confirmed it in reaction to Maj chizyuka’s conference. Donot excite your yo BUKALA over nothing. You puppy. Read enough and follow the events of Zambia. Condemn all parties that donot hold convetions without selection. RB,Sata,HH,Miyanda all have had no convetions the last 4 years.
#156 MMD HAS LOST IN KASAMA SEAT THEY GOT A BIT OVER 4000 VOTES WHILE PF/UPND GOT 10000 VOTE AND OVER.PABWAAAATOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
kaskapangala,
In a constituency of 27,000 registered votes? Isn’t that a pathetic outcome? Personally i expected PF to do better than this considering that Kasama is a 27,000 voter constituency. What happened? You mean over half of voters have died or moved somewhere within 3 years? some one tell me.Why didn’t we hammer MMD with 20,000 plus votes?
Can anyone tell me which MP has ever brought Development to his/her constituency in last 10 to 15 years?????
# 148 & 160,
I strongly concur with you retaining Kasama has not brought shining heaven for our opposition still in a difficult and highly diverse political space.leadership and clarity is a biggest challenge at hand for them.Whichever way it takes, i don’t see convergence of critical mass. They should have shaped up the PACT structures way before coming public. There is a lot of mistrust right now in their camps.A loss alliance is not the best when you are confronting an incumbent power structure.
About GBM, My fear is if he will have the means to sustain hmself as father Christmas beyond this by-election.All the buses he flaunts about as being rich are leased with liabilities on each of more than 70%.The Kapenta, beans and ubunga he has built his so called fortune to win bus leases from manufacturers are supplied to Zambian Prisons, ZNS and the Army paid by Ministry of Finance.
#156. Here are the Kasama results for you.
GBM (PF-UPND Pact)- 10,998; BM (MMD) – 4,064; Ng’ona (UNIP) – 104; ALL Peoples’ Congress – 24. From these results you will see that the MMd has made a massive improvent where as the P/UPND pact have made a big decline in pipo voting for them. This surely is no joke that a NEGATIVE gradient is dangerous for the pact and POSITIVE gradient is good for the MMD. We expected the Pact to do better than they did separately in the 2006 elections and worse on the MMd side. Viva MMD. 2011 we win the General election with these STRIDES.
With many competitors and African politics, i foresee MMD administration applying breaks on him in food supply. If that happens God forbid, while the buses are daily running at a loss, where will he get the money to keep servicing the bus leases, his heavy debts debts and political father Christmas? He promised Kasama voters development from his own pocket never seen in any constituency.I fear he has put himself in a very difficult situation bound to backfire.Yes as you have sanctimoniously put it, GBM is very emotional.Should cadres and party officials flood him, he may start insulting, abusing and bullying him all recipe for criminal misconduct against his record.Political enemies may just capitalize on his weaknesses.
I also congratulate him but foresee a difficult future for GBM.Business wide, he may just take the Emmanuel Kasonde experience.Kasonde was very rich from the money he stole as PS ministry of finance in UNIP.But Mwanawasa brought him to his death bed of poverty.By the time Kasonde was dying, he had literally lost all properties and businesses including his Lusaka homes in Suningngdale. His Daughters all exiled into Botswana ending up struggling like any other street Zambian family.I hope his Daughter in Atlanta Georgia, USA and Bwalya Bwalya in Zambia have prepared for what could be on the slate for the family.
African politics is another one.
#161 Mother of Sata – Are you sure you meant #107 because what you are talking about is contrary to my comments. Anyway am not into insults like you. Try to grow up Wechipuba…….. sorry
Kanitundila……….we miss state house.
Congrats to PF/UPND Pact. Woe to Chief Chitimukulu and Kanitundila. Micheal Sata and Hakainde Hichilema must share the same platform from now onwards, I agree with above sentiments. Viva Pact, viva, “Solwezi abo twiya mwane”.
VIVA Pact VIVA Zambia!!!!! Solwezi here we come!
160 contd..
And the situation the PACT has put PF and UPND is never to be admired. It is an aukward situation because the three major scenarios i.e.
1) Putting HH as candidate and losing Luapula, Northern, CB, and most of Lusaka to MMD or
2) Putting Sata as president and losing Southern, Western, Central or
3) Spliting because of leadership disagreements (which is most likely) near elections will cause a lot of shaking in the structures of both PF and UPND leaving them worse than they were before the PACT formation.
The latter will also cause many members from both parties to drift to MMD. The conclusion is that PF and UPND has created the worst political error of 2009. This is always the problem when people make decisions just to win an election at the expense of objectivity.
MMD is finished. Rupiah keep it up. Make sure there is no convention for MMD.
Good milile yayamba kusila for MMD… wapya wapya..
Twaba wina, eya eeeeeeeeeeee! Babo tufumo, Babo tufumo nga chula wa mainsa!!!!
Ba LT ama pictures ya ifi tayafwaika naimwe, maningi ama nigthmares. Umuntu aleseka kwati alelila, nomba uko enga lilila, ni insamba (alligator). Congrats PF/UPND, as for MMD, do your homework properly and never give up even as we anticipate your 2011 exit.
#164 Chapi, these were by elections and expecting 90 to 100% turnout is asking for too much. If you total the voters that partcipated, you will find that the Pact did a tremendous job. 10000 plus on the Pact, 4000 plus on MMD and almost 3000 other parties. That is way above the national average in terms of voter turnout. Almost 19000 showed up and voted. We have not added spoiled ballots. I think this was a great turnout that even US or British voters will not match in a by election situation. Kudos Kasama people.
Sorry RB, the people of Kasama don’t speak S.T.U.P.I.D. Try to communicate in that language in Chipata, they may be able to speak and under stand S.T.U.P.I.D there. GBM said he would have the last laugh when you compared him to a bag of mealie meal, but nobody thought his laughter would be heard so loudly and throughout the land like that!!!. Nobody could have believed that GBM would have more political sense than a president who lowers himself in that manner!! Now go back to Lusaka all of you a.s.s-lickers Mutati and Simbao and lick your wounds with your tails between your legs. And take your Mugala with you. And don’t forget Chitimukulu too!
What is this that looks like a lufwinyemba? LT, can you please identify this thing you have posted above the ZANIS plegiarized story?
“Mr Banda… said if MMD wins the Kasama parliamentary seat and the Kasiya ward, then the pact would be finished.”
Solwezi puteni ichimwela
Magande, Mpombo, Namakando YOU WILL NEVER WALK ALONE!
The hour has come……….for MMD to go!
Viva UPND and PF.

What does GBM mean?
#186 Good Business Man
It’s strange that Banda is so quite after a disastrous trouncing at the hands of the opposition. Anyway, one wonders what will happen with the Pact because a degree Clause is coming to block Sata, just like he and Chiluba inserted the Parentage Clause for Kaunda. The thing is Hakainde is damaged goods, he tried with Nawakwi and failed miserably. His traditional cousins in the West now revile him after the Bantu Botatwe refused to be Bantu Bane to include Sakwiba. For one, I would not vote for Hakainde, the bloke is just too Tonga, he’s wet!
It’s only visilu who can allow fuel to run out in the country due to stupidity and lack of planning.
Marvellous Marvin Hagler, change start with you , stop being or think tribal. show me a good leader and I will vote for him.
Round belly(RB) should instead be saying that the convention will go ahead and all members of the party are free to stand. As for pf AND UNPD, they also should hold their conventions coz Sata has neva tasted opposition. That snake nids to show respect for democratic tenets so that we are not caught up in a web if he does comes to power.
If you mean what you saying then go to the convention. This will prove to everyone that you are popular even within your own party because there are doubts at the moment.
show people how extremely popular you really are……hold the convention!!! AND PLIZ GIVE US SOME FUEL.
AND FIRE ALL THOSE THAT CAUSED THE FUEL SHORTAGES (THEY HAVE EMBARRASED YOUR GOVT).
one million, two million, three million more……
as if u are talking to babies…..we know u are extremely afraid…..VERY AFRAID!!! SHIVERINGLY AFRAID….
Ichicheve nichamantha ichi. Chiziba ati sichingawine if he calls for convention. Nyamasoya is the first name. Kanitundila last name. CV Crook born in Zimbabwe natured by Robert Mugabe, (Remember African Commercial bank). Kungenelapawina mu MMD. Kuononga Democracy mu MMD. RP capital behind him. Dolar Siliya Behind him. Yellow GMO maize thruogh his son Henry behind him. Corruption during campaign in Petauke when distributing suger behind him. He won the suger Daddy award in Petauke. The worst is the issue of Chiluba aquital. Can anything good come out of a crook like this one.
