The contract of Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) Director General JOSEPH SALASINI has been terminated.

Mr SALASINI’s contract has been revocked along with three other ZNBC directors.

ZNBC Board Chairperson AUGUSTINE SEYUBA announced the termination of the contracts today stated that the changes are part of the re-organisation of management announced by the Minister of Information and Broadcasting last week.

Mr SEYUBA said Director of Programmes, MAXWEL NGANDU, Director of Finance MILLEN SIYAMIYOBA and his Marketing counterpart ANTHONY MLANGA have had their contracts terminated.

He also announced that the ZNBC board will not renew the contract for Director of Human Resources, SEPISO KWALEYELA which expires next month.

He said the board has taken the decisions to serve the best interests of ZNBC and to save the situation from degenerating.

Mr SEYUBA said other measures to be instituted as part of the re-organisation will include the immediate adddressing of operational weaknesses pointed out in an audit conducted by the office of the Auditor General.

He said the board is determined to ensure that the financial status of ZNBC is strengthened while improving its programming.

  1. You thought you were there to stay forever just like you Rupiya Banda you shall catch up with time soon.We are not stupid, this is our country.Donot rule it like your f u c ki ng farm.We shall see.

  2. There is also need to re-organise the ZNBC Board as where party to the degeneration in standards of the ZNBC.
The decisions that where made and implemented by the fired chaps had the approval of the Board. If not, then they are incompetent, do not understand their roles and need to go as well.

  3. Mule @#6
The operational or day to day management of an organisation is under the MD/CEO of an organisation. The MD/CEO runs the show & only reports or consults the board on major changes which affect the company or organisation’s policies infact the board only seats at specified times in order to see how the company has been doing etc, they then report to shareholders & other stakeholders whom the board manage on behalf of.
The board of ZNBC has taken action after looking into the Auditor General’s report which clearly stated how the corporation was being mismanaged therefore the board which appoints the MD has to be the one that terminates the MD’s employment should he be found wanting.

  4. No. 8 Jigga, yes the oeprational and administrative aspects of running a company are oversee by Management but the crucial decisions such as some of the things cited in the report are subject to approval of the Board, things like conditions of service, budget, strategic plan, 1st have to be approved by the Board b4 management can even administer. The Board should take their fair share of responsibility and resign because they failed to provide the needed oversight. Issues over which you can blame management may include improper admin of Board approved matters. So Mule is perfeclty right saying what he says at No.6.

  5. This is animal farm. How come Chairman who was part of the financial scum is still making statements on behalf of the board. May be he is clearing others to pave way for himself and the entire board. We are yet to see. There are so many scums at ZNBC it wont take long before the current management will fimd themselves in the same twist.

  6. We are wating for the release of the report which the Minister claimed to be still studying.Bravo to all ordinary workers at ZNBC.

  7. Very strange. What was the role of the Board when things were falling apart ? Would have thought the Board would be the first to be dissolved.

  8. But Hyde Haguta has contributed to the dismissal of Kelly Chubili, the News Manager. There was a computer glitch which caused the non-airing of Big Mphuno’s campaign rally pictures in Kasama and the young man complained bitterly to Dickson Jere on how the newsroom in Lusaka “frustrates” him. He also said he was one of the most educated reporters at ZNBC with his newly acquired MA from Westminster University. I thought there were quite a few people with similar qualifications at ZNBC!
    Tabwelanso.

  9. ZNBC reporters can’t even spell. Blo.ody he.ll, it is not REVOCKED, it is REVOKED, you fuc.king mor.ons sponsored by the Red Brick.
