RTSA warns PSV operators

Share

The Road Transport and safety Agency (RTSA) says Public Service Vehicles (PSV) without sliding windows are a health hazard and are not fit to be on the road.

RTSA Principle Publicity Officer Mercy Khozi-Mwila says the agency will soon swing into action to ensure that Public Service Vehicle Operators put sliding windows on their vehicles.

Ms. Khozi-Mwila told ZANIS in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that Public Service Vehicles without sliding windows are a source of concern to RTSA.
She said operators need to know that it is their duty to ensure that passengers are comfortable as opposed to waiting for directives from the agency.

Meanwhile, Ms. Khozi-Mwila has urged members of the general public to continue reporting any unsafe road developments to RTSA so that correctional measures can be instituted.

She said RTSA was depending on the general public to bring sanity to the public transport sector and ensure all operators abide by the safety rules and regulations that RTSA has put in place.

  1. So ba RTSA Principle Publicity Officer Mercy Khozi-Mwila, what are u waiting for, why not stop them from operating. The zambian way as usual maybe waiting for the president to have a national address and direct u, where is your authority if u dont act on such health hazardious issues.

Ask yourself what u doing in that office

  2. Ms Mercy K Mwila you are not being sincere and has got worth to talk about. Those mini. buses go for inspections before they registered and meaning your inspectors have got no eyes. In Japan those are panel vans meant for transportation of light goods. You are not being fair to operators. You let the cat out of the bag then start palnning how to catch it. For new registration ensure that the vehicles confrom to all requirements. We are fed up with your bad conduct in terms of operations. Better keep quiet surfing the internet. You are type of chaps who are getting salaries without sweating for them.

  3. RTSA, well done for trying to bring sanity on the roads. I have seen thta you are now ensuring that fitness certificates to be given must ensure psv have slidding windows. But you have done a great job and some of us applaud you for teaching us so much on road safety.

  4. #4 The observer, i 100% agree with your point. Why should these vehicles pass the first inspection and then later on start chasing after the offenders. Why not prevent it at right at the beginning, during registration? This woman is just trying to show the nation that she is working. You don’t need the public to be reporting all cases of health hazards, what are the inspectors doing then? If those vehicles have fitness certificates displayed on there screens, then someone somewhere is letting them be certified when they are not to be certified. I smell corruption in the process of registration and fitness certification. Thats where this woman should start working from and not just breathing fire to impress the nation!
