Allow demos against Chiluba’s acquittal – Govt urged

Share

A Businessman in Kasama has appealed to government to allow people to demonstrate against the acquittal of second republican president, Dr Fredrick Chiluba.

Yonah Chishimba Services (YCS), proprietor of Yonah Chishimba, appealed to the Republican President Rupiah Banda to allow people to demonstrate peacefully over Dr. Chiluba’s acquittal.

Mr Chishimba said the people who want to demonstrate should be allowed to demonstrate peacefully.

He added that denying them the peaceful demonstration is suppression that hinders the tenets of democratic principles.

Mr Chishimba also said the people should be allowed to express themselves on national issues.

He cited the Nigerians who demonstrated against their government on fuel price hikes which reduced political tension.

Mr Chishimba further said people have confidence in the Rupiah Banda’s MMD government but refusing to allow them to demonstrate peacefully would be an infringement on their right to expression.

He, therefore, called on the MMD government to listen to what the people want to say for the sake of peace and unity in the nation.

  1. Thanks, brother Chishimba, for speaking for us. But willl they listen? Over Rupiah’s dead body! After all, demonstrating aginst ( why do you call him “Dr” Chiluba?) Chiluba means demonstrating against him. They belong to the same camp. But we need more voices like yours, of course. And I hope you don’t lose your business license. or maybe ZRA will pay you a visit soon.

  2. Hats off to you Mr Chishimba. I wonder what in hell Chiluba has fed these myopic politicians for them to just loose their senses and fear the short man to unreserved submission. What’s wrong with people airing their dicontent through peaceful demos? It’s common knowledge that the little man stole Tax Payers hard earned and much needed forex that he has stashed away and is soon to start chewing. I really feel ashamed for coming from a country with not so clever leaders. If more people like Mr Chshimba talk, maybe Ulupiya Banda will hear.

  3. Hey you guys 1, 2 and 3 are ALL SICK. Infact mad. Do you realise what this craze FOOL called Chishimba (frustrated business man). I wonder who he sells to in Kasama is advocating for. This is a very DIVISIVE and POTENTIALLY explosive matter. You will not handle this if people begin to kill each other. Not everybody may subscribe to this and people will fight. My mother and rest of family is in Z and I don’t want this. PEACE loving Zambians Ignore these calls. Chiluba is only one person who if there is trouble will have the police to protect him and not common Zambians. Think guys. I love my country.

  4. I love my country and I mourn to see shallow minded people advocate for situation they can’t handle. Think of how much state resources will be lost on top of what Chiluba and his cronies stole. We all know they store but do you want people to die also.

  5. WORD OF ADVICE: All demos start peaceful eventually become violent. Remember some people will join will there own frustrations and turn this thing (Demo) into violence. WHO wins them not you. I have been at UNZA and all car breakings and other property damages we experienced were not planned. People with immoral thoughts started all that and that satisfied them. UNION leaders always say guys it has to be peaceful and we all agree, then what do you see. CLOSURE, Why Violence. I SAY NO NO NO NO NO

  6. CAUTION: I want you guys, ALL of you to tell me if (1) You have not stolen before OR abrogated any other of the 10 commandments given to us by God. Let us not judge and insight GOD’s people. PLEASE PEOPLE DON’T LISTEN TO THESE SICK (MAD) PEOPLE (May God forgive me). We all love peace and going to streets may not hold that for long.

  7. I pity the fool: where were you when mmd cadres demonstrated peacefully in support of the acquital,i for one didnt see any violence there…what a load of drivel you are spouting

  8. Smooth criminal you are a SICK DOG. I wonder whether you are Zambian There are better things to demonstrate about other than Chiluba’s issue.

  9. Ba Chishimba nga namwikuta lelo pliz go and have a bed rest, this issue is too political and can easly unsettle the entire nation and as a matter of fact what will be claimed of chiluba wont benefit the nation with the system so crap, firstly you should fight for the constitution to be properly amended if we stand a chance to bring all those who misuse GRZ funds to justice.45 years of independence it’s a shame!!!!

  10. Mr. Great President; RB & Chiluba #4,5,6,7, Ass lickers #9 and Pompwe munshibila nsala #10 I really respect your opinions but for lack of a better term, I´m sorry to say that you sound like enemies of democracy and may be you don’t deserve to be on this blog. As much as you think you have smart ideas you need to be a little more matured and respect other people´s opinions. We are all speaking our opinions and non of us will have the final truth but respecting of other´s opinions is a sense of maturity. In fact I have seen the flag #9 you have meaning you are blogging from Zedi. Your language lacks sense of morals. If you think you are the only one with the best idea then your ego is more to a criminal of democracy.

  11. Oh my God, no wonder Zambia has lagged behind in development among all the southern Afican countries. It’s because of very dull, less exposed and myopic psychophants like 4,5,6 7 and also crazy 9 who do not know the tennets of a democracy, let alone their rights. It’s either you lot are sponsered by Chiluba’s stolen loot or you are a villagers from where one of the guys you are supporting come from. A peacefull demonstration is meant to be without violence unless the “not so impartial” police go and mess people around on instruction from the all powerful MMD. People Power, let the people demonsrate to get that short criminal where he belongs – prison. Numbers 4,9 and 10, do a little more international reading in order for you to fit into the 21st Century boys.

  12. I support you Ba Yama Ba Ema #12 and #11. Pa Zedi tizakachinja liti? These peole who are not exposed who support blindly think Zedi is developed while its in its Rumshackles. Kanitundila and Kafupi are crooks but the worst are their supporters.

  13. Hold you fire and understand. You are unnecessarily immortional and thinking pre-maturally. Be objective and look at matters that way. Demonstrations in the general Zambian sense means violence (trust me). You are learned and will understand the word peaceful, but the common street guy it’s different. TELL ME: If you imprison Chiluba then what, How will that benefit you or Zambia. Infact it will be more of a liability that he currently is as follows: (1) Special prison – house arrest (2) Tight prison security (3) All administrative inconviniences etc. All these will divert necessary resources to one person for years. Remember you will not take him to anyother prison.

  14. There were demonstrations against the 3rd term bid,no violence was witnessed then, there was also demonstrations to remove chilubas immunity, never saw any violence, mmd caders in kasama demonstrated in support of the acquital,no violence, forum for political parties demonstrated against the british high commision,no vilence…if chiluba goes to jail,it sets a precedence, that zambia has zero tolerance when it comes to corruption and also the $8mil will be diverted to some developmental project somewhere.Chiluba sent KK to mukobeko, why should we have a spacial prison with spacial services for him,the constitution does not specify what kind of jail a thieving former president should go to,once his immunity is lifted,he’s just a normal citizen like you n me,as for #9 kaya mwandi
