The Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) says it will soon announce its candidate for the Solwezi Central seat.
In an interview with ZANIS today, MMD National Chairman Michael Mabenga said the party is still making consultations on carrying late area Member of Parliament (MP), Ben Tetamashimba’s vision forward.
Mr. Mabenga said both Government and the MMD greatly benefited from the services of Mr. Tetamashimba who was also Local Government and Housing Minister.
Mr. Mabenga said that as of now, the party was receiving names of people wishing to contest on the ruling party ticket.
The Solwezi seat fell vacant following the death of area MP Mr. Tetamashimba and the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has set November 15 as a date for the by-elections.

“As a party, we are looking at adoption of a potential candidate and any business outside that comes later. We shall announce our candidate to contest the Solwezi seat soon and the nation will be informed,” Mr. Mabenga said.

Former Solwezi MP Sondashi Asks UPND/PF to Support FDA in Solwezi by Election
Opposition Forum for Democratic Alternatives (FDA) has called on the UPND/PF pact to support the FDA candidate in the forthcoming Solwezi Central By election.
Party president Dr. Ludwig Sondashi who was bubbling with confidence says the FDA candidate is more popular in Solwezi.
He says there is no way the FDA candidate can lose the Solwezi Central parliamentary seat.
Dr. Sondashi however refused to name the candidate saying he fears to endanger the person the FDA has selected for the parliamentary.
Zambian politiacians have gone crazy. To Start with Teta was a bad laeder. Secondly both the ruling MMD and the Opposition are gabbage material. We do have substandard leadership alus the numerous problems that we are facing. We are in reverse gear when other countries are advancing. Tuchinje!

I hear Adamson Bratson Mushala will lodge his nomination papers to contest the Solwezi by-election on the Kaimana Saymbwende Freedom Rebels Partee! (KSFRP). By the way, I think KK should shut the f .u. c .k. up, he seems to be all cozy cozy with Kanitundila when he was always at Levy’s throat for nothing. Well all know he is supporting a useless Kanitundila because they are both from kumawa ku Malawi. That old man is really very evil and I hope he like Chiluba one day meet their fate just like the way they onchestrated the demise of innocents like Kapwepwe, Mundia, Penza and Wezi.

5-7 assuming you are one person. You see what you should understand is that this chief is the same person that was about to sale his own peoples land to foreigners, had it not been for the likes of chizyuka way before he even became MP, thousands of poor villagers would have suffered severely. This is the same chief involved in numerous scandals. Support from such a cheif is nothing to be proud of,as many of his fellow chiefs have no respect for him. A chief should be able to reconcile people, not be in the forefront of politics. I expected the chief to call HH and chizyuka and ask them to reconsile differences. Shame on these traditional leaders no too long ago, it was the same thing with chitimukulu, what is Zambia coming too!

No doubt MMD are panicking over kolwezi central by election after suffering a clear defeat in kasama few weeks ago. On the other hand Kavindele has owned MMD about the risk of losing kafulafuta seat if they fire G. Mpombo, bearing the fact that Mpombo has never lost any parliamentary election in kafulafuta and he has worked so hard to impress people of kafulafuta.
The MMD is full of people following another’s vision, its vision after vision! They build castles in the air coz all they see is visions! Its time for them to see the reality of their so called visions. All they do is hallucinate with vision and think they are working.
What we need in Zambia is sensible people in politics and not people who are there to just talk. The other day the speaker of the National assembly had to tell the parliamentarians to debate the budget, coz all they do is sleep! Lets get rid of all these old crooks whose ideas will not take us anywhere and bring in more energetic and intelligent young people. The other thing that i have found about us Zambians is that we are one sided, today we are singing the pact, (contd)

If we don’t do that 10 to 15 years from now will be singing the same song we are singing today only that this time the title will be HH or SATA. My fellow Zambians lets build democracy in our country, lets give ourselves an option. If it was upto me i would build 3 strong political parties in Zambia with strong creative minds, that way the government of the day will be kept on its toes. Even if we bring in the pact, we still need an opposition, an opposition that will put the Gov’t on check. I pray and hope that this pact will be different and that we will still have a sensible opposition for the sake of mother Zambia
It was disappointing to see Ba Teddy Mulonga linning up for MMD adoption. Last time he narrowly lost to Tata when he stood on opposition ticket. I have thought he was a good leader. Now he has lost it forever and will never be MP for Solwezi Central. He has gifted the seat to Judith Kapijimpanga’s husband who wants to stand on the pact. Kanitundila is so unpopula even in Solwezi. Sondashi should behave and not split the opposition vote.
Which ‘vision’ did yapping Teta leave that should be followed ?
The MMD is likely to field PS Teddy Kasonso. Contrary to what Davy Kapijimpanga’s comments that Teddy is hails from Kasempa District, well the man is partly from Chief Matebo’s chiefdom which is part of Solwezi District. Teddy Mulonga, Mulosa and Albert Chifitawas in contetion but Mulosa was knocked out on account of being Lunda, Albert Chifita current DC for Solwezi backout for fear of losing his DC job in case he was not adopted. We will see how MMD NEC will make a choice. FDA is most likely going to field Dr. Sondashi himself. The PACT are going to field their 2006 Parliamentary candidate. This man is Lusaka based businessman currently running a hardware shop at Cross Roads. Keep an ear to the ground bane.
