Kunda exposes HH

Share

VICE-PRESIDENT George Kunda says it appears that United Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema does not want to contest the 2011 presidential elections and is instead selling the candidature of Patriotic Front leader Michael Sata.

Mr Kunda said Mr Hichilema is unlikely to stand in 2011 and was in Solwezi to campaign for Mr Sata.
He was addressing hundreds of Solwezi residents who welcomed him at Solwezi airport yesterday.

“Now, here in Solwezi and many parts of the country, we do not vote for Mr Sata. Go to Central Province, go to Southern, Western (provinces); people do not vote for Mr Sata,” he said.

He said people do not vote for Mr Sata because of his bad campaign strategies.

Mr Kunda said Government declared Zambia a Christian nation and that the ruling party is committed to the declaration.

He said the MMD has no problem with the declaration and will support it in the National Constitution Conference (NCC).

Mr Kunda said the MMD has maintained peace and stability in the country from 1991 and that is what the party wants to continue doing.

He said with peace, the people of Zambia can protect their propertyand their investment.

“Reject violence and vote for MMD which wants peace,” he said.

Mr Kunda said the ruling party has everything to lose when there is violence and called on the police to guard the peace that the country is enjoying.

The Vice-President said Government would like to see issue-based campaigns and will not condone any act of violence from the opposition.

Mr Kunda said the MMD is committed to promoting and maintaining peace and stability the country has continued to enjoy since 1991.

“We will not sit and watch selfish politicians destroy our peace,” he said.

He called on the people of Solwezi to reject the pact by voting for MMD candidate Albert Chifita, who he described as a man of the people.
Mr Kunda said the MMD is not going to engage in violence, but will concentrate on issues that affect the people of Solwezi.

He called on Zambians to uphold the slogan of ‘One Zambia One Nation’ for the country to continue enjoying peace.

Mr Kunda said North-Western Province has a great economic potential, adding that the people of Solwezi Central should give the MMD a vote for it to continue implementing the programmes it has planned for the province.

“I have travelled with a high-powered delegation, and all these ministers are here to explain our development agenda for Solwezi,” he said.

Mr Kunda is accompanied by Minister of Health Kapembwa Simbao, his Transport and Communications counterpart Geoffrey Lungwangwa, Deputy Minster of Agriculture Albert Mulonga and his Community Development and Social Services counterpart Moses Muteteka.

Deputy Minister in the Office of the Vice-President Gaston Sichilima is also in the entourage.

The Vice-President was met at the airport by North-Western Province Minister Joseph Mulyata and Minister of Foreign Affairs Kabinga Pande.

He said the MMD will address problems in the health, education, agricultural and mining sectors.

  1. Political parties need to sell both their policies and individuals for voters to make informed decisions. A man who fails to manage just his house or business can not be entrusted with taking care of the affairs of millions of people and trillions of kwachas

  2. You red liped viper, just talk about real issues in solwezi and not HH and Sata.who ever becomes president between the two is immaterial to us.the fact that Kunda says HH is campainging for Sata is very helathy for a strong opposition.we are waiting impatiently for 2011.

  3. Bookala Bobe. Whats wrong with some one promoting another person to a position. You are imposing RB on MMD as sole candidate for MMd 2011. For its ok. You have victimised Lupando on suspitions that he wants to challenge for MMD presidency. To you thats ok. When HH decides to run or not will not be your business

  4. Kunda that is old news we are well aware that HH is escorting Sata to state house. His actions have been very clear, that his position will be that of VP or PM. Its unfortunate because it was our hope as younger generation that a young man and new blood will lead Zambia. Manje kaya ngati kubweza akote nafutti mu state house will make a difference.

  5. This whole story written by ZANIS and said by Kunda (HH supposedly backing down, violence from PACT,+10 minister entourage, addressing Agric, mining ) is not even reading, thinking about or commenting… It is what it is COWDUNG.. Seriously, the PACT is taking this one.. MMD knows it and are scared sh%$t.. VIVA PACT.. Pact continues to progress. Im’m personally impressed by the choice of INONGE WINA as as PF National Chairperson.. It doesn’t get more solid than that.

  6. If HH gives way to King Cobra to stand as PA CT Presidential candidate, is that his problem. The MMD has started feeling the heat. Pipo should not be cheated that this and that Political party will bring development over night. The fact is govt development plans are long term and this depends on how the technoctrats operate. In Countries like Italy & Isreal govts go and come and state machinery remains intact. Its a pity that those men in MMD have got eyes they cant see they ve got ears but cant hear. Solwezi will always present political problems as it is an extension of Copperbelt militancy.

  7. Chi George,
You scavenger shut your red lips and talk about your party. You are not a match to the pact at all. just wait and see. You guys will also be frequenting prisons if not careful.

  8. Are these guys even working or just campaigning? Wonder if the government is functioning properly presdo in eastern province campaigning for 2011 and the vice presdo with his entourage on solwezi.Elyo lwanya!

  9. #8 THE OBSERVER- You remind me of that aged saying “You should vote for so and so and so , so that he can finish the projects.” Like you said, gvts/parties go but development continues.

  10. He has hit the pact where it hurts most, they have no capacity to respond to this one. As long as they do not come out clear on who will stand between them, MMD will capitalise and set them against each other during every bye-election.

  11. 2011 will be the worst defeat sata the clown will have ever faced.he has lost it in luapula and HH the ka foolish school boy has now split southern province.because like it or not the tongas can not vote for that serpent.in short it’s a pact in futile.

  12. So what ??? its common sense, one of the two has to stand as president and not both. just talk about the real issues Mr. Vice president that not what you get paid for, hello!!!

  13. #14 AKAPONDO. What Luapula are you talking about? Are you in Zambia. Saving ka Chiluba from jail cannot give RB votes in Luapula. Am a Luapulaman and happened to attend the same upper primary school(MAMBILIMA) which your little man attended. In case you doubt ask the Katongolas, Mr. Mayane, the HT Mr Songwe ig he is stilla live. Luapula is not composed of one tribal. We are many and the Mwata is just one of the snr Chiefs – he has no authority over eveveryone there.

  14. #17 Deju Vu save your breath don’t bother with #14 Akapondo who hasn’t got it through his impermeable skull that what chiefs think or say say no bearing on voter actions anymore. All chiefs can voice support for MMD if they want that wont change a thing. The people will vote for who they are comfortable with. If tribe is what comforts them , then they will vote by it.. if its the good nature of any candidate then that will be it..

  15. #19 digga Thanx. You see to day development in the context of having a PRADO and pocket full of money all “donated” by MMD. Our Chiefs dont seem to realise that they are entitiled to a stipend each month which has nothing to do with a ruling party.

  16. Kunda is a total nut job. I thought the whole idea of the pact was that they would field one candidate so that they do not split votes. I would have thought that was common sense! The strategy of the UPND/PF Pact is only a surprise to Kunda and his fellow “monkey in a field” followers. Kasama central was just the beggining. Next Fridays’ election in Solwezi will be an indicator of just how disillusioned people are with the MMD. Lusaka, Copperbelt, Western, Northwestern, Central, and Southern provinces are in the bag. After that, we shall conduct some forensic accounting and then teach this government how prosecutions (Not persecutions) should be handled to their logical conclusion. Just so that you know in advance, should u win, WE will appeal!

  17. ACtually simon #21 the pact only has copperbelt, kasama, lusaka, and Southern. Eastern, Western, North Western, Central, Luapula, will remian with MMD for as long as the candidate is Sata…one old man competing against another old amn will simply even the political scene, but a vibrant young man against an old man gives the MMD loads of work!

  18. 23 Jootse, You may be right about the split of vote in terms of provinces – we cannot be 100% sure before the event. I am not as much of a shu shu shu as Veteran, but i can tell you right now, the MMD has a lot of enemies from within. These are bound to take Central and parts of copperbelt when they surface. Under the current leadership structure, Western and Northwestern will definately NOT vote MMD. There is not a single reason why they should. Not that he is important, but Mabenga is not a force to worry about.

  19. Mr Kunda said the ruling party has nothing to lose when the MMD Cadres practice violence and called on them to guard the insecurity that the country is enjoying. Uluse ine.

  20. #24Jooste.. LUAPULA is under teh control of PF not MMD………… MMD is losing Western province and you know why. Not to mention Inonge Wina being elected to PF National Chair person.. North Western province is slipping to UPND-PF.. Mining towns are hard to please.. They have now seen the money “investors/infestors” are making and nothing has trickled to Council coffers…

  21. Kunda’s statements are typical of a dreamer and manipulator. His statements are very demeaning to the solwezi electorate. He is taking those people for granted and comparing them to the people in his home village who he managed to convince by buying them chibuku and making false claims. Solwezi please redeem us. Kasama did it. You can also do it. VIVA  Solwezi

  22. What does this man know about campaign strategy, when he himself has never stood for any elections. Let him stand and grow his muscles then he can talk, his just a person who moves on other peoples backs. I think we should pass a law which will stop nominated members of parliament from taking part in political campaigns.

  23. Looks like Mr. Vice President would like to get a reaction from HH to say he is standing so as to divide the pact the thing is the pact has made it clear that their is a commitee that has been put in place by UPND and PF members of equal number and will decide who is to stand in 2011. SO your tricks Mr.Kunda for beging the question or expecting an answer from the pact wont work. The thing is if you havent been working in Solwezi dont expecet to win as a party people vote for those who work for them. Its that easy

  24. # 29 Kaponya,

Are you sure that His Honor VP Kunda is not an elected representative in Parliament or its the usual PF party disease of protruding ignorance that not spared you either? Again, are you sure VP Kunda is not an elected MP? Who then is Muchinga Constituency MP in central province. Because you are lazy but busy blogging your ignorance, go to Nantional Assembly of Zambia or parliament [dot] gov [dot] zm and search Central province, then Muchinga constituency.Come back here and tell us whose portrait pops up there. Research before embarrassing your party PF irrespective of your cadre instincts.

  25. 28 Sir Alcapone, its good to hear from you. You have been missing… I agree with you, i am counting on Solwezi to make the Politics a bit more interesting for MMD.

  26. What does Kunda mean that, in SP, WP, CP and NWP we dont Vote for Sata. Is int this clear message of segragation. Kunda is a loser and big loser for this matter. The PACT is here to stay.. Yes we did not vote for Sata, but in the PACT we shall Vote for him. MMD just get used to the PACT wiping you clean…I am going to Buy a Party card for UPND and PF now and also get my NRC in readness to send Nyama Soya and his crew back tot he farm

  27. All you bloggers, this is well calcilated statment aimed at the common voter, that will gain good political mileage in Solwezi. Just look at Sata’s results in this provonce or dostrict in 2006 and 2008. It may be shallow but is well calculated for the a certain target market

  28. Veteran, out of curiosity where do you get your wealth of information? I know we live in an electronic age, with instantaneous access to news media, but for someone in the US, you seem to be very uo to speed with “whats going on”. I dont know whether i should be impressed by you, or whether i should be scared?

  29. Mr. Kunda think before you talk. A pack can only have one candidate Sata or HH full stop.just talk about the violence in your party and how you are abusing innocent police officers.

Police in solwezi have failed to Shaw professionalism because of your thugs you call cadres! People in Solwezi have eyes and hears; they can see and hear. Bana vice president, you even know that you are losing that seat!

  30. # 14… It is so surprising that you are still in those times of Kingdoms. The lozi kingdom, Bemba kingdom, Tonga kingdom etc where tribes never crossed each others. Know that those times are long gone, why cant Tongas vote for Sata? Why cant Bembas Vote for HH? I really wonder why people always think of tribe and not development for the country by all people. Is it a big Issue if HH or Sata was adopted as president for the PACT? Why have they formed a PACT..is it not that only one and only one will stand as president? Is the implication of this mean that those who want change regardless of tribe should prepare to vote for the person who will be adopted? People called for the PACT and I think are ready to vote for who ever is adopted either HH or Sata, otherwise its time wasting.

  31. Zambians are easily corrupted with very cheap politicking after that they start complaining, I do not know to whom? Choose what can build zambia not political retorics. Laulenu meso akwa NORTHWESTERN! Nzambi aihembi!Kalunga anukwase!Nkambo amwikwashe!

  32. I would like to say congrat Mc & HH , these guys are planning to embede the degree issues ,therefore, do not announce the 2011 presidential candidate early let MMD keep on guesing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  33. How shallow of Mr Kunda. What’s wrong with HH allowing Mr Sata in 2011, going by his age and then taking over in the next term? Is it a requirement to be slightly dull when you join politics or worse still if you join the defunct MMD? Please help!!!
