He said that the council will strictly follow tender procedures in awarding a contract to a deserving bidder.

Mr. Kapata said everything is on course to start works at the bus station despite several anomalies that had occurred but the situation is now back to normal

He said the council wants to give chance to as many people as possible to tender their bid so that no one is left out.

The Public Relations Officer said the council will soon place an advert in the newspapers.

Mr. Kapata said the advert will run for two weeks in an effort to allow

He said construction works are expected to start immediately after a successful bidder is chosen through a tender procedure.

He said the council is aware of the difficulties the commuters face and has assured them that the construction works will be completed by December this year.

Bus drivers and commuters have over the years lamented over the lack of shelter at Kulima Tower Bus Station which made it difficult to go about their business especially during the rainy season.

  1. That’s close to $700,000 can we see a model of the shelter. why is it so expensive to build anything in zed?

  2. Yeah this is good. #2 Mu si- according to international reports Zambia is expensive because of high banking charges, poor social services, poor infrastructure ( e,g. roads), corruption. Others are low labour productivity ( partly due to poor work culture) government bereaucratic (delays in government decisions / approvals) y, high fuel costs, delays at borders.

  3. I agree with you positivist on some of those reasons. on the roads part, the roads are bad cos we allow heavy goods transported by road instead of rail, an end result is such expensive projects. i’m assuming the drainage will also be worked on, cos you’ll need a canoe to paddle to the shelter

  4. LCC is a defunct council, failing to provide decent housing, water and a clear policy of where or how Lusaka is growing. It’s more interested in politiking. It’s not fit for purpose!

  5. GUYZ, WHERE DOES ONE GET THE LATEST INFO ON SOLWEZI ELECTIONS? BA MMD BA ME-SOO-LER BUSHE TA B.A.L.A.N.Y.A?

  6. @3 you forgot the biggest factor……..corruption!!!!
that 3 billion is not all meant for the project, some of it is already being pocketed before the construction even begins!!!

  7. LT,thats not the lag f the country i am residing in!!!If you can’t do it, why do it?thats why zambia is so backwards,I am not even using a mirror i.p address and you get it wrong!!

  8. That is good news K3Billion for a bus stop shleter that is a bit on higher side. And completing the shelter in one month in incredible. What quality workmanship will be on display. THe councellors should ensure that no public resources are wasted. I still feel the project has been overcosted. What has happened to stalled extenstion works at Inter City Bus terminus. LCC is in the habit of starting a project at wrong time. What was the council doing during the dry season?

  9. what kind of a K3bn shelter can only take from end of november to end of december to construct? you must be joking ba kapata.
