RB is a strong advocate for peace – Dr. Mwale

Share

Zambia’s special presidential envoy to the Great Lakes Region has described President Rupiah Banda as a strong minded leader who has a well-built background in peace building.

Special Presidential Envoy and National Coordinator for the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region Siteke Mwale said President Banda, who is one of the founding members of the liberation movement, has always advocated for peace and development in the country and region.[quote]

Dr. Mwale told ZANIS in Lusaka today that President Banda served in various government portfolios where he worked hard to ensure peace and development prevailed in the country.

He expressed confidence that Zambia would continue taking a leading role in championing peace and development in the Great Lakes Region.

He said Zambia is determined to increase her lead now that she is chairing the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) because of the strong foundation as a peace broker.

Dr. Mwale explained that the internal political squabbling going on currently as the country gears for the 2011 tripartite elections will not detract the peace and development that Zambia believes in.

He said Zambians will not be swayed by some political leaders that are creating misunderstandings in the country but would remain resilient to promoting peace.

Dr. Mwale explained that the region has agreed that peace and development are vital in the region.

The International Conference on the Great Lakes Region-ICGLR Secretariat is working hand in hand with the Zambian government to establish a centre for democracy and good governance this month.

The recruitment of staff is expected to be conducted by the ICGLR secretariat soon.

  1. Dr Mwale is very right when he said”Dr. Mwale explained that the internal political squabbling going on currently as the country gears for the 2011 tripartite elections will not detract the peace and development that Zambia believes in.”But then he forgot to mention the POST as the lean Champion of misplaced cause of few selfish individuals.

  3. Mere show off. If Dr Mwale was to talk sence he would be fired so he has to talk nonsence to keep his job.

  4. Dr. Mwale???????????? From which University???????????? May be from Matero University!!!!!!!! from which school of thought??????????? May be from faculty of bootleacking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Uducation has failed to educate some of the educated people and Dr. Mwale is one of them. You can wonder where the world is heading if Doctors are applying for the job of bootleacking.

  5. What do you expect from Dr Mwale, his job depends on being royal to Nyama soya. We are not surprised coz we know that he has to protect his job. Nyama Soya doesn’t give chance to anyone who disagrees with him so everyone that is under him has to obey……….

  6. #2 Sharp Shooter. You are an enemy of democracy. Your mere bootlicking for MMD and RB will not reduce the Post to your class and standard. Why not allow people to express their opinion as you are also just expressing your myopic opinion? If your ego and closed mind set controls your approach to issue, you are bound to condemning others. And that kind of thinking has no room in the 21st century politics and blogging. As much as you want to be heard, allow others also to express their opinions. What have you done for Zambian compared to the Post? You are out of Zambia looking for something to feed your stomach but the Post is at home with the people. My peace of advice to which you have all the freedom to take it or leave it is that “please graduate from you kinder political thinking2.”

  7. Dr ,i dont agree with you. However , i do understand that you are merely trying to protect your job and i forgive you for that.

  8. what wrong has RB done..please let him be ..he has broght peace to the nation..lets not spend negative energies…lets talk about economy healthy education and so on..zambians please be positive…our president has been positive ..he has broght peace..read todays news on times of zambia..you will know sata better..

  9. We appreciate his peaceful profile but that alone should not be his ticket to stay in power. There’s a new generation of Zambians who are now saying ‘No! Show us what you can deliver..”.

    That’s True Democracy.

  10. #9 Nine chale walasa apo boi, let them deliver when they are in power if not we will hire others on election day provided they deliver to the electorates and continue to provide peace and security to the country and spread it to other regions in area

  11. Zambians are generally peaceful people so Dr mwale must not attribute the peace that is there in Zambia to RB’s rule. If anything RB is trying to destroy this peace by his appointments which favour easterners. The best Zambians can do is to remove this tribalist of a president in 2011. And certainly he will not be in power beyond 2011.

On what premise are you basing your accusation of my being enemy of democracy. Are you insinuating promoting violence and political instability as being friends of democracy.Which country has a thriving democracy in the world without peace? The POST has an Agenda and its their for everyone to see.Right now,it Anti-RB,It was Anti-LPM until their Agenda was fulfille and the POST are friends with Sata cos of RB otherwise these two are bitter enemies. If Magande were to win the MMD convention, mark my words, the POST will go back to assaulting Sata.If my praising of peace is tantamount to MMD bootlicking to you, then Iet it be cos I love peace and I will jealously guard it.Many are the times i have been accused here of being MMD.I’ ve never been one.I was UPND Cont…

I was UPND under Andy cos of the policies and indeed the combination of intellectuals in the NMC.After the demise of Andy,I felt very bad how HH ascended to the helm where even Madyenkuku made a statement that only a tonga can succeed him.I later started liking LPM cos of his policies mostly borrowed from UPND.I find it hard to talk about PF cos the party’s policies are vague and HH as an Economist know this.Right now Iam a swing voter not aligned to any party and when I make a comment here,I make that comment as a Zambian and NOT as a party cadreI owe my allegiance to My Zambia and not parties. If the oppositions make something good,Iam and will be the first one to praise them.Likewise to the govt.

  14. Brother Sharp Shooter , reading through your blogging , I can tell that’s the state of many well meaningful Zambians who want to put responsible Government. I for one voted UPND i think b4 Andy died. I liked his policies too( though my worry was the backslash of probabilistic of tribal issues because Tonga had showed that were going to cause division). I gave them my vote anyway. The Church in Zambia are the one who put back Chiluba or LPM, because they told their members, Andy was a mason and Satanist , but look at they considered as angels what they have done to the Country? Rev .nyorongo and Chiluba’s long prayers lured the nation.
