Share

A 28-year-old housewife is battling for her life in Luwingu District Hospital after her husband brutally battered her and later burnt her private parts with burning firewood.
Both hospital authorities and relatives to the victim confirmed the incident to Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) in Luwingu on Friday.

Narrating the ordeal, the mother to the victim Rachael Chomba said her daughter was burnt on her private parts using firewood by her husband on suspicion of flirting with another man.
Mrs. Chomba said her son-in-law Amos Kanswe Sumpa, who was drank at the time of incident, also inflicted other bodily injuries on his wife.
She explained that her daughter is complaining of severe pain on her private parts owing to the burns and she is confined to her hospital bed as she was unable to walk.
Mrs. Chomba has since appealed to the police and civil society organisations to help her get justice over her daughter’s brutal assault by her husband.
And police in Luwingu have launched a manhunt for the suspect, who is on the run.
The hospital authorities have described the condition of the burnt woman as stable and the incident happened on New Year’s Day at Sumpa village in Chief Tungati’s area.

  1. This is a sad story. There can be no possible justification for this barbaric act. The criminal should not even try to use being drunk as an excuse. I hope he will finally be arrested and prosecuted. Im however curious as t why it has taken two weeks for this story to be reported in the media. Is that how remote Luwingu is? Wishing the woman a quick recovery

  2. what a beast…! If it is that bad, you are better off separated. Now the sensitivity and future of the nation is on flames, foolish b…..d !

  3. iye mwe bantu!! iyi yena iliko bad.Private parts?Police launch a very powerful manhunt for this fool and when you catch him,let the wife cut one of his balls.

  4. This act is wicked and barbaric to the highest degree! Wherever he is hiding, this man will never have peace in his heart. Lord have mercy on the woman…whatever she did to warrant such animosity?

  5. It fels very bad to be double crossed. If somebody thinks that their partner is flirting, they need a lot counseling and in severe forms to be separated because of fear of hurting each other.Otherwise guys take it personal and see how it feels that your woman has been opening up to someone just the same way she does to you

  6. i dont mean to be insensitive on this issue but i need to find out how did a drunk man manage to pin down a sobre woman with a burning wood in his hand then direct it where it has now caused harm. The man was literally using one hand to subdue this woman. If he had used hot water it would have been a different story, now to take a burning wood and direct it straight to her private parts, was she sleeping, what exactly happened.

  7. Thats how bitchies are suppose to be treated,he should have also burned her ass so that she is left with nothing.I hope they dont find the man,job well done. All you married women learn your lessons, stick to your husbands before we burn that shit.Cant imagine the smell of that smoke……lol

  10. that was bad..i feel sorry for the lady..is that man muslem ???weak assss man..drunkurd fool..that man is evil ..he is stupid as hell

  11. #10 Ghostdog
whatever the woman did, there is no justification for what the man did to the woman. If he was suspecting her of flirting, there are procedures that could have been followed to ascertain if at all the man’s suspicion were true. If they were true he could have sought divorce rather than what he did.Let us learn to be sensitive to what our friends are going through and not talk for the sake of talking.

The bible does advice parents to use a rod when disciplining there children if other means do not yield the desired results,so long it is done in a loving manner. However, there is nowhere were it states husbands should use a rod on their wives. On the contrary, it encourages them to be loving their wives as their own bodies.

  12. #10 is just being provocative or immature or both right? What if it was your sister or your daughter? How do you know that the woman was guilty with what she has been accused of?

  13. I agree with you #17 Rostondoz and #18 Shimwalule, you have very good points, the guy I am pretty sure has low self esteem and belongs in a mental institution, how do you inflict such severe wounds on your wife on suspicion of flirting – he is so twisted.

  14. 10# Repent. If you can’t repent then you are really sick. How can you say that? Even if the woman was caught in the very act this fool sho
uld not have done that because Jesus said who has no sin let him be the first to cast a stone on her. John chapter 8.

  15. I think the guy was exercising Some kind of shaila Law….Way back if one was caught stealing they would burn their hands…this guy could still be living in that world ,…now where does is go after wards or he wouldnt mind a roasted ntweno.

  16. Nine Chale @ #13, watyola mudala…big time . Like Scripture @ 13 politely asked, I may be rude to ask exactly as to what a hell you were sipping on when typing that comment? Anyway, being a prize winner doesn’t make you more or less of a human. Who are we going to vote for this year? just kidding…have a good weekend.

  17. #10 cool humor out there. I Love it…. just watch out coz doggy, your commezzle gona’ be off the hizzle, fo shizzle my nizzle.

  18. Ninebo, @ #27, forget about such peolple like #6, they are simply attention seekers. Most likely chimwaumwe on viagra because tabwima wamona.

  19. Ndandeko naine!!! Clearly the man was wrong to do that. Such things happen but as it has been alluded to above, there is always a procedure to follow. It is worse that he acted in a such away based on speculation because he should have done his homework to get evidence. As it has been portrayed, the man had no evidence but even if he had, I would still want the law to visit him.

  20. ….suppose we put ourselves in this man’s shoes how are we going to take it? If it is true that this woman was flirting, only God know how many men she has slept with. Clearly this man’s life is danger in as much as she is in pain! The man had probably devoted all his feelings and love for this woman but only to be paid in this manner? What a shame! Let the law visit him anyway but God should ‘ll have the final say and as I see it both have cases to answer before him.

In this age of HIV/AIDS you surely would like to have an adulterous woman. If this woman contracted HIV and infected him, the repurcation are long term and probably not more that the paid he would face under the law.

His actions were barbaric, but if this woman was really doing it, then the best place for her is…

  21. No amount of cheating should warrant such an act from a spouse. May the law prevail over this matter.

However, I wonder what people’s reactions would have been had it been the man that was injured by the woman on suspicion of cheating! Is it my biased observation, or does society tend to exercise double standards on gender-based violence?

  22. Temporal isanity….he shall plead, next he will be state patient and soon the case will be forgotten, as for the woman she bares the scars to remeber this terrible ordeal for the rest of her life. What a shame.

  23. #32 Bamwinemushi…I think you can make a good local court Judge…Lol, I like the way you have articulated the case…

  24. It’s because of this savage behaviour why the bible story and GD was invented.. just to scare savages without remorse, that they will also be punished and burnt in hell for being evil! Just catch the basta rd and roast his mabola ne fyashyala.. then cage him with ticks and lice for life!

  25. My fiance has worded in Luwingu and is Zambian. He has promised to work with me in future to challenge institutions which perpetuate violence against women. This should not be happening. He is however also a victim of our rigid cultures.

  26. Private parts of a woman were made for special purposes, not to be used a chimneys wher u place firewood. Maybe alefwaya ukwasha ukonta umulilo then amona kwati ni chimney intwanokane. Kali ali diz chi – coulour.

  27. Best treatment, never misuse u husband property. Luwingu as the name suggests is 150km south part of kasama near chilubi island, this is the place for my bemba cousins, its a ka village and very primitive people, these bembas they think easterners we are dull but check their behaviour close to animals,,,but mbuya unalasa anyway i will take her as a mbuya wife
