Women advised on decent dressing

Share

A concerned citizen on the Copperbelt has called on the womenfolk to practice decent dressing as one of the measures to curb the escalating HIV and AIDS pandemic.

Isaac Chileshe observed that the moral dress code for the womenfolk should be enforced from their homes so that the indecency which was prevalent in dressing could be stopped.

Mr Chileshe told ZANIS in an interview that the men and women were made differently as their emotions were aroused differently and should appreciate their biological differences and live in harmony.

He stated that men were moved by what they see while women were moved by what they hear and the two play effectively on their emotions.

Mr Chileshe added that majority of women were marrying wrong men and even entered polygamous marriages because of men’s “sweet talk” and later discover that the talk and the practice were not in tandem.

He charged that women also knew the secret of wooing unsuspecting men into the unnecessary sexual traps through indecent exposure of some delicate parts of their bodies.

He said the decent dress code among the womenfolk would mitigate the escalating trend of the HIV and AIDS pandemic which was a menace to every sector of development.

Mr Chileshe added that parents had a pivotal role in changing the thinking of women in society because good values and morals started from home to influence society.

He challenged Church leaders as agents of change to help society because their voices were influential and authoritative.

Mr Chileshe also observed that culture has changed dramatically in the last 20 years, saying in the olden days, children were more receptive to the advice of elders even if they were not biological parents than now where modern communication systems, including television, were more parenting than the parents.

  1. Our fellow women the bible is very clear about our conduct while we are on earth,

    1Tim 2:9
    In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;

those children of GOD who believe in this can surely apply this wonderful piece of spiritual words

  2. 😕 But just what it decent dressing kanshi? Am sick and tired of us men using women as an excuse for this and that!! The problem we have as men is that, even if the women dress ‘decently’, we still fanatacise! What do you want them to do. Lets just try and keep our ntwenu tightly zippered up in our pants! Ati ‘decent’…Efinshi?

  3. imwe please yanga ni yanga and yako ni yako [-(. we dont complain or rape men when they wear their very short shorts or tight jeans showing their package (and yes we do get turned on too from seing that). ALA;;)

  4. Well said Mr. Chileshe. However your sentiments don’t go well with the western culture to which our people are now glued. To the modern parent, a marketable daughter, I mean one that can expose her assets and be desired, is of more value than the village style daughter. In short Mr. Chileshe, you are on the wrong battle front and actually fighting a losing battle.

  5. #4 Life Maker. I beg to differ with you on the ‘modern Parent’ theory. I have a daughter baba, and if that is what you as a parent is going to encourage, then am sorry you have it all wrong. Read comments given by #1 and fuse them with the traditional aspects of bringing up a child, whilst embracing modernisation. Draw a line and bring up a child in such a manner that she is protected. Not ifyo ifya exposing your daughters assests! Yangu![-x

  6. Its not the length of the skirt or dress that has a direct bearing on Hiv/Aids.A chik may be dressed in a very long skirt but her mind is dressed in a very short skirt and ready for action loosely.Actually i have observed that its easier to get a chik dressed in so called decent long skirts than these who are are free

  7. Your are right ba Moze, It’s all about controlling ourselves because men are naturally born hunters and eyes work like an X-ray or an MRI. No matter fintu umukashana afwele. Ifintu kuichindika fye. Na game ninshi yabalansa. 😕

  8. The Zambian problem is lack of morals. People think dressing indecently makes you look modern. It’s a shame. # 7 you might differ with # 4 on the modern parent theory but the truth is that most parents aged in the 50s and below right now have failed to bring up children in a cultured and morally upright manner. To me its an inferiority complex to think being cultured and decent makes you not modern. Whether we like it or not the indecent dresing has a bearing on the HIV/Aids rates.

  9. #11 Zedian, i don’t understand what morals you are talking about. You call sleeping with small girls morals? Why is it always about the women? I agree that Dressing has no direct impact on the spread of HIV. Its just the evil in us men, period. Why should this ‘culture’ and so called ‘morality’, be applied to women only? Lets give them a break please!!

  10. Africa or Zambia in particular is a very hot country, please have the decency to leave the women to decide what clothes they’ll prefer in the hot cilmate.., i doubt it that you would find a zambian woman wearing light clothes in the cold season.. unless the wome youna refering to are the ones found in Northmeads dark corners waiting for ‘Kerb Crawlers’

  11. Our ancestors used to move around almost naked but mitima siyenze nyamuka chinyamuke nyamuke.
So dressing has nothing to do someone’s sexual desires. Guys lets just control ourselves and let God’s beauty glow in the open.

  12. If you have any pride in your african culture then you should maybe consider encouraging africans to go back to their culture of wearing “Imibinde” rather topless with only a small animal skin hiding the front bits!!! That’s our culture not all those clothes the while man came a threw at as together with the cofusion of a book of how we are suppose to live our lives……

  13. Much az ladiez should take some consideration with regard to their dressing, men must have their mindz AND NOT the trouzers in control.

  14. It is not proper for a lady to show her pant, beads, enembo etc to the public. Its discusting in public, sana sana in buses, Its not cool whether muli kumangalande or wherever morals/culture should be valued. A woman’s body especially fweba filika was meant to be covered.., thighs, belly button and breasts are meant for that special one, our black bodies are naturally attractive you don’t need ukufula. mwilabepwa bane.

  15. Correction………….*That’s not our culture… not all those clothes the white man came and threw at you together with the confusion from a book about how you are supposed to live your lives*….

  16. Its not all about women men should also control their appetite. Some men cannot live without it as if it is food, as much as indecent dressing plays a role, men play a major role in the activity. If men control themselves, a woman cannot rape them instead men are the ones that are raping woman even young girls. So many young girls are raped withing families, no one talks about it coz its a st..upid taboo. In such cases are u going to say that 5 or 6 year old girl was indecently dressed to provoke the man to destroy her innocence?? PLEASE!!!!!!!!! Ba Moze I agree with you

  17. Western culture and influence has played a major role on how women dress. If a woman decides to imitate what the west dictates as fashionable and hip, good luck to them. It is called freedom of choice. A line has to be drawn on what is deemed decent or otherwise. To blame the rise of HIV/AIDS on how women dress is a bit naive. The moral standing of a nation should be questioned instead. A well turned out woman dressed in a “power suit” is a turn for some men just as much as a woman/girl wearing hipsters with a thong showing! How do you explain that?

  18. Today in the Amazons people there still walkabout like they once did on the black continent, (MU MIBINDE)those guys do not die of HIV AIDS, and do not run after every bare backside like they do in Zed. I dont know about those that wear beads have enembo or what they symbolize but i know that i do with my body what i want ! No one has the right to tell me what to wear when and where…

  19. In most case men react very fast when setting eyes on sex beautiful looking ones. What is sex beautiful looking in this case is the expossed beatiful brown thighs, legs etc.At the samo time the beautifull rowring batoks in a very tirty skirt or ka toloshi.

Immediatelly a man with a propare fanctioning one which has be propary feed with african mutototo basop when it sees a lady.Country men i can asure you it problems in the sociate. You just pounce onto someone. Therefore ,its a challenge to our women to atleast dress decently.Long skirt, chetenge on top. This will force even men to propose LOVE decentry and not in a hurry.

Otherwise ,TONGE’S even pounce on chicken’s baba.yamutototo wa chitonga ni ku kwela chabe mpongo or mbuzi.

Lets all advices our young ladies to dress up nicely.

  20. Ba Moze I agree with you 100%. It looks like somebody is trying to justify and defend his weakness. Osayende ku mangalande kansi iwe Chileshe becouse uzaka zitundila mukabudula.:o

  21. Bane, poverty is a major factor for women to dress in that manner. Indecent dressing is all about attracting investment, period. Surely a man is a natural hunter and will not just watch and compliment, he would like to explore further. The onus is on ladies to try and dress properly because they will be hunted (which some of them like).

  22. What rubbish! What poppycock! Where on earth do people get these silly ideas from? Now, they want to blame women for the corruption that is in their hearts! Yeshuah haMashiyah ben Elohim said’ ‘Nothing that goes into a man (through eye gate, ear gate, mouth gate) defiles a man but what comes out of the man.’ It is what is in your heart Mr Chileshe that causes you to lust. Lust produces sin and sin death. In Papua New Guinea, the primitive villagers where women folk hardly wear anything, there is no HIV/AIDS. In the western world where women are clad in almost nothing on beaches the HIV/AIDS incidence is small. Nah! Don’t blame your lusts on innocent people!

  23. To my dear Isaac Chileshe and others who are concerned like him. Take note that times have changed no matter what advise one can give our women folk are out for a kill. Its health for those who are still active. You have never heard of some pipo calling themselves “TONGA BULLS”. There is nothing to worry about those women who are exposing their software or the “Ballon Type”. Its nature and it will catch up with them. Women are flowers of the world let them exercise their freedom and an appropriate time will come for them to harvest. In the seventies with had mini-skirts, Maxi, See Through, Hip stars and now ma trauzi and driving SUVs and all sorts of automobiles. Ba Isaac dont worry time will catch up with those are think they are on cloud nine.

  24. Number 26, U see a lady in a mini skirt and uzafuna kusonjela wat is inside ( Matso alibe chipongozi) and when u pay attention to looks of vibelo, u will propose d d d d cbddd without knowing someone is hiv positive cnxcnskskakaksjcn

  25. Women need to exercise restraint. Just look at the Big Brother Zambia Representative called Paroma something’s picture that appeared in the POST Newspaper for Sunday; the image of the legs whatever else that was exposed is in bad taste even to her fellow female folk.

Let women and girls realise that they will only be respected if they respected themselves — following what the Holy Scriptures advise all human beings.

Matt 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you. :d/

  26. Here in the UK people normally dress according to the weather. In winter we all cover up.And in summer even grannies wear bum shorts.Do they spread HIV?
By the way, people in Zambia use to wear imibinde (equivalent of a bikini) before fitenges were introduced in the late 20th Century.Did these bikini clad topless ancestral women spread diseases?

  27. Zambia has so many perverts out there who cannot control themselves.Imagine how many would be locked up if they were in the Western world.

  28. Hola #33, Zambians just pretend. Why arent Zambians being arrested for sexual crimes when they are out there? Here, they have just taken advantage of both the system and our womens’ appetite for cash. Otherwise, they know its not the women to blame. Dressing has nothing to do with it. Njota chabe!!:-?

  29. Whether a woman is wearing a mini skirt or not s.e.x. will be there. Its not because of skimpy dressing that people get HIV

  30. Here a a scenario for ladies. Slim girl in mini skirt meets boy, boy & girl get married, girl stops wearing mini skirts & gets fat under that entire closet covering her, girl wants boy to stop his outings with friends, etc, guy suddenly bored & loses interest in girl, boy starts admiring other slim girls in mini skirts. Sorry whats the topic again????

  31. indecent dressing has got nothing to do SEX and HIV….:o. you concerned citizen, do feel like having sex when you see a short skirt?? why dont you use condoms???

  32. Indecent dressing!!! Is there such a thing as indecent dressing? There is only “Dressing appropriately”! Dressing has nothing to do with morals. Infact, psychology and cultural studies have enough data to prove that nudness can encourage morals and fidelity. You concerned citizen: Stop mumbling about dressing and concerntrate on real measures that can prevent the spread of HIV. For example, u can start by changing you stance on dressing coz u sound like u have issues in your own head that are not reality. All of us cannot do without sex. Mini skirt or not. Besides our forfathers never used to wear long skirts. Its a culture which was impossed on us and those that oppressed us are free to ride bikes naked.

  33. It’s all in the mind..u can train yourselves..I was raised in Zambia and people were not aroused looking at a woman’s breasts but were aroused looking at the thighs..Then moved to the “west” were people get aroused looking at breasts more than looking at thighs or short skirts…So it’s in the mind any part of a woman can be sexualized if u choose to..otherwise you will be like the taliban in Afghanistan

  34. CONT: Besides in Zambia some of the MMD cadres threatened Nawakwi that they will gang rape her, and not because she of they way she dresses.

  35. I want decent women on this thread to stand up and speakup for the protection of Zambia’s moral intergrity. It all starts with leadership, if government officials were upright non would be crying foul at the moment. As men it is our duty to ignore the filanderous women in preference for the beautiful Nubian princesses of this world that show wisedom and intelligence. I have no other way to say this as I read it in the bible. Shall use the word. In the eighties till early ninties you could distinguish between everyday good Zambian women from wh.or.es and uncooth loose heads. Their was a clear distinction and our women were praise worthy. No white woman unless saved could even compare to a standard sister back then truth be told. If we lose the morality of our Zambian women our nation and…

  36. Ma rubbish! Our ancestors used to walk cintako with just a loin cloth or bark covering the manhood or the triangle of ticklish sensation. Covering all over is western victorian culture!

  37. And Africaare doomed:((

1993 Snoop was sold to us and boys moral vocal codes in Zambia were poluted. Hiphop before him and at his time was great we had wise intelligent educated Rapper known as MCs but what was sent was a trap for black children. Like the ignorance that comes from the south in America; the white medias manipulation to destroy an art created to sensitize a disadvantaged youth. What am saying is this ladies you are the custodians of moral wealth in a nation, and I would rather the most beautiful women on earth the Nubian queens that you are are respected for moral and intellectual worth rather than trampled on even more. Why expose yourselves your bodies are already banging hot:) no woman not even an S class Mercedes can compare to the curves on a black woman stay…

  38. Mbulawa which history are you reading. Our civilisations pre-date western civilisation in culture education enovation and moral intergrity. Our destruction is usually by a few careless individuals in leadership. Our women have always been covered, do not buy into the sellout barbaric Shaka. He was a whiteman’s tool in the conquering and stealing of southAfrican land. Remember this term Divide and conquer. That was why that savage was sponsored to clear south Africa. Back to our civilisations we educated the so coverted western and eastern worlds at a very costily expense to our stolen people and land. The effects you still feel today imf, world bank and some African’s inferiority complex. To overcome this evil we as men and women shall have to fight together under God to purge Africa of

  39. I ask a simple ? for all who have commented. HAVE YOU GONE 4 HIV TESTING!!!!??? Answer this ? then you can debate constructively

  40. 49 Diablo great question? Answer is yes we have. For some of us fellows some were mandatory like when first coming to the US. But that should not be a reason for anyone to stop debating constructively.

  41. Imagine the joy if you test negative. After that your only aim is to stay negative so no short skirt can corrupt your mind coz if you think of the destruction of AIDS …………………………need I say more?

  42. #48 I am talking about African dress. I am not interested in your rubbish rumblings borne out of an inferiority complex. Tell me exactly how Africans used to dress before the arrival of the European?

  43. Chaps referring to ancestors, do you realize our ancestors equally used to have sex in public? So should we be sha**ing your sisters in public? Let us not be selective in what ‘change’ we embrace.

Indecent exposure laws do exist here in the US as well, its not free for all. Most of the girls you see badly dressed are trumps here and not self respecting women, besides which lets deal with the fact wrong is wrong irrespective of it being done by the more developed. Poor/ indecent dressing ought not to be encouraged as some of you are doing, there’s a point if you think critically to this call.

  44. Hmmm Interesting topic. HIV/AIDS has a high preference in Sub-Saharan Africa..Why? many reasons. To simply single out dressing as a factor is inaccurate. How about in the rural areas where you don’t see much of the minis and things like that? Or like someone said in countries where they have people with very little to wear in summer? While men may be tempted by thighs or whatever, don’t be quick to blame women for their lack of self control. If parents are teaching their daughters to dress modestly, they should teach their the sons self control and faithfulness(that’s what will prevent HIV) Prov 5:1-8 and 6:25-26. Yes,women should aim to dress modestly, but men should do their part also. Stop blaming others for your own flaws.

  45. It has been there, but with the fast rate @ which time is moving with civilisation, even us the less educated are cought up…. kaili even my neighbor has shakira’s outfit in the maga….,I was on holiday in some busy street of LSK..when my dude wispered to me sayin ” how does she’s dress so inviting ” (woman) what next….she made a u-turn & my mate was attacked with bitter words while her 12 old daughter in a hipster looked on..while he apologized, a mob of angry women moved in & took her to task 4 her indescent appearance…….,some even wear t/shirts bearing dirty words…without knowing :-?:-?:((

  46. #67 Johnston. Traditionally this is make a woman more sensual to the husband. It is just a part of fore play and beads should only be seen in the matirimonial bed room.

  47. This just goes to show you what is going on in Mr. Chileshe’s mind. “Decent” is a relative word; a woman can be fully clothed, covered and still be/act sexy and seduce men; likewise, she can wear something, short, tight, revealing but be unattractive. It is all in the mind. Besides, men are natural perverts no matter what a woman does, or doesn’t do, we’ll find a way to make it turn us on.
