Zambia Voluntary Soccer Fan Associations (ZAVOSOFA) Patron, Peter Makembo says reports linking Zambia National Team Head Coach Herve Renard with the Super Eagles of Nigerian for a coaching job is disturbing.
Makembo says it is immoral for Renard to be showing interest in coaching the West African football giants when he still has a contract with with the Chipolopolo Boys running up to May, 2010.
Makembo told ZANIS sports in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that Renard should wait until his contract expires before he can decides on which move to take.
He said the termination of the contact with Zambia will be blow to himself because Zambia gave him enough chance to prove his capability which resulted in a fair performance of the Zambia National Soccer team at the just Africa Confederation (AFCON) Cup tournament in Angola.[quote]
He said Zambia has been tolerant and groomed him to be at the level where he has reached, for even other teams to start admiring him.
Makembo said Zambia and Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) should however not force to stay if he doesn’t want to so that he sees how other teams will treat him if he fails to deliver.
“Renard is better off staying here because we the fans have been patient with him, he has been groomed by Zambia and we have supported him and we have given him enough chance.
” It will be a big blow to him if he decides to leave this country for another because some fans will not tolerate him” Makembo said.
He said soccer fans will accept anything that Renard will decides on his future with Zambia adding that moreover that there are good coaches in Zambia who can take on the position.
Local media reports say that Renard had a meeting with the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) with a view to have the French coach to guide the Super eagles to the 2010 world cup in South Africa in June.
It also quoted Renard as having been excited with the move and urged the NFF to speed up their interest saying other African teams are also interested in signing him.

He will not even hack the Nigerian job. BBC reports that the Nigerian FA have approached the Egyptian FA on the availability of HASSAN SHEHATA to lead the super eagles to SA2010 on a temporal basis. The Nigerians want an experienced tactician, I don’t think they would take the risk of going for Renard, who I think is still raw. He may probably get a job after the World Cup
Money talks bakamba….the team should just work hard on their own aren’t they big enough to motivate themselves??
Why do we Zambians think anybody in white skin is better than us in anything? If we have to do just a simple analysis to compare the performance of Patrick Phiri and Renard, I think may of you will support me that Patrick achieved more that Renard. Zambia will only lift Africa cup or qualify to World cup under a Zambian Coach. MARK MY WORDS. Let us support our coaches, Zambia is for Zambian. Let us stop thinking like politicians who developement can come from donor funds yet we have funds which foreigners are taking mercylessly
There is nothing to stop him from looking for greener pastures, its only human.
he can go charles is ready take over the coaching job
Iam happy to hear the chap wants to go. That would be the best thing to happen to our team right now. It’s time we had a local coach. Our players are naturally skilled and our game has always been that as exhibited at the last Afcon…to be honest Renard has just been average and now he thinks he is a hot shot, insulting journalists and even Zambian. Zwa…kuya bebele!
The Zambian players were better than the coach. Remember what happened to Potterfield after he left Zambia for oil-rich Saudi Arabia…
=)):)):-8->
Nigeria?? hahahaaaa
So he thinks he can land the job?
If Nigeria get him, they will be knocked out without scoring even a single goal……..and they will loose all their friendlies with teams like Sao Tome, Zanzibar, Lesotho. lol
Let him go. ^:)^
Come on Makembo let the chap go and prove himself.Renard aint a good coach, cant read the game.We are lucky to have gone in the second stage not because of Renard but sheer luck
I wonder why so many pipo are worried about this musungu, pls let him go.I’m sure we will do better even in his absence.:)>-:)>-
Maybe he is threathening to go so that they can give him a better deal
I would be more than happy if he goes so that we can prove to him that we are better off without him :o:o
Renard has done a good job in bringing back some confidence in the team, however let him go if he wants to.Zambia can still perform well with a local coach as long as there is enough time to prepare 4 major tournaments and proper funding put in place.
Hypocrite a while ago you were crying that the coach goes coz he has failed us now he’s good,True of Zambias
We will definately save forex if he goes. We have nothing to lose but a lot to gain. #7 is right the Zambia players are good than the coach. BE PROUD ZAMBIAN, USE ZAMBIANS.
Zambians lets not fuss about Renard’s career decisions to an extent where we call him immoral…..please. He is a big boy and we should respect his decision after all you do not wait for a contract to expire to look for a new job, as humans we are always searching for better opportunities. Lets be patient with him and he will make his decision know soon. My fellow peace loving Zambians.
These self made NGOs (ZAVOSOFA) talk then think later… You appear not to know what you want. Stick to one thing…Renard going or him staying. Problem ama Zambians tamutashya and you seemingly know everything. You are just like your presidents Kalu na RB.
such cheek!!!its no use hoping some of you chaps will ever change. your hyperinflated delusional beliefs about yourselves have now taken you to thin king you have groomed the coach. unbelievale!!
swallow your insults and beg this man to stay
as for you renard, sit back and think this through coz you might find yourselve jumping from the frying pan into fire, your detractors in zambia are largely benign, just big mouthed and ignorant. believe me you do get some real nutters in some countries. and besides you now have a chance in zambia to consolidate your cv; you do not have to restart from scratch knowing the players and some peculiar madness. get the drift?
If he goes before expiration of the contract between him and FAZ, is he going to compensate FAZ or maybe they didn’t sign anything it was a gentleman’s contract whereby he’s free to walk whenever he wants to.
Since he is still on contract and chipolopolo are not busy in the coming months. We can loan him to Nigeria and make money out of him for a change.
Talking about his performance, the guy cannot read the game, makes wrong substitutions if he makes any. After his contract expires we can let him go and Kalusha too. This the only way we will ever archive anything in football
:d/ It is good he intends to go, please let him GO! His target was to reach quarter finals, which he achieved and relaxed. A good coach should aim for the best. Patrick Phiri was far much better than him and achieved more than what Rennard has achieved. MULEKENI APITE KUMENE AFUNA….It was the team work of the players that achieved what they did at the just ended AFCON.
He is not doing anything wrong by showing interest if he gets the job he could say i will only start after May whats wrong with that.
This is the problem and why we still being ruled by peopole from the stone age,.. you want to consider your options when your time is up… whatever happened to forward planning
It is far better to have a muzungu as a couch. That is the only way zambian can be made to get to work, otherwise with a fellow zedian, the national team will turn into another platform of politics. I am sure all of you gentomen/ bana mayo uko will agree that we just came out of this phase. Ama zedian spend a lot of time arguing about what to do and how to do it beest. It is like in a family set up: uku bwanta bwanta senselessly.
Well he has used us to make his name. Good luck!!
# 21 u are right=d>=d>
The Chap used us, let him goooooooooooooooooooooo!
# 17 We can t have such loose contract in this era and age. He has to complete his term as stipulated in the contract or he pays I am sure there is a termination close
Can someone help on this one……….Is this not the same organisation which wanted him and Kalusha to leave sometime last year? Please dont confuse us. If you are eating subscribtions from your members and you want to show that you are working, try something else and leave us in piece.
#21 you just back everything if some told u that idi amin is alive you say yes i saw him. let this man go he performed very badly. if it was western team he was going to be fired instantly. look at countries which are serious nigeria they have dropped the coach despite coming out third.
Let him go,maybe bollyhood will do good for him. Nigeria isn´t interested in that man as they have approached the egyptian mentor instead who will see them through on a short term basis.
let him go and we employ our local coaches.**==~o)~o)(%)
Iam a fan of Renard but l dont think he has the credentials to coach Nigeria.I urge him to stick around for a while for some more experience and experiments…Zambia has proved to be a good launch pad for his career. talapya
Let him go! He’s never achieved anything for Zambia. I wonder why some pipo are overpraising this character. Remember he was hand-picked by Kalusha under suspicious circumstances. Before this dubious arrangement with the FAZ President, Renard was a low ranking, unknown physical trainer in west Africa. This arrangement has worked well for him at the expense of our country not winning any major trophy from the time he was recruited.
So imwe, ba Makembo, spare your tears, don’t cry over this man, let him go! Learn to let GO!!
Why are crying over this useless coach. Let this guy go. He has not added any value to our team. We have reached the Afcon cup finals twice and semis on a number of occasions. If the cup was in Lusaka right now , I would have shed my golden tears for him to stay. Au revoir monsieur Harve. :-h
Do you Think he can perform with teams like Nigeria? For me he is too a novice for a job anywhere like Makembo has said it was just that we gave him enough time and the FAZ executive are doing underhand methods thats why he is still there.he is an underachiever 4 goals in 10 World and africa cup qualifiers the reason of the team performance in Angola can not be attruibuted to him its was as many of you have said lack and things just happened that way. HE should Go……
I tip WEDSON ,PARTICK PHIRI,SIMUKONDA to take up the job they can do much beeter together
this ka renard thinks we zambians are usless and dull eh? who does he think he is? he should be careful ni pa zed pano. gangbangers are everywhere , ask the mmd
This mouthfull ZAVOSOFA, how come there iz no statement from the chairman or indeed secretary? Care less where HR goez to coach az long az he iz kept very far away from the Zambia National Socer Team. When the 12million Zambianz advized/criticized him, Renard called them all sorts of thingz; the 140million Nigerianz may not want a ranting/retorting man for a coach.
Please let the Chap go he has wasted our time. the Chap is still raw
Nothing immoral. It’s called ambition!
I see that people in Zambia are more concerned about the future of the coach than the future of the national team. Here in Europe, clubs hire & fire coaches at will. It’s all about good results. No trophy simply means no extended contract. It works all the time.
Let him go for greener pasture. Labour is mobile. If i m offered job with good conditions of service, I leave.
Its only normal that if your contract ends you look for greener pastures. However I think his role is over. He did bring a disciplined performance from the boys but its now time for us to look for a coach that we are sure can take us further. Like I have said before we need a more adventurous coach.,#3
Patrick didn’t achive more than Renard. He had more time as National coach than Renard and therefore had more attempts with Chipolopolo but at one time he even failed to qualify us for the finals, this was one of our lowest points. He also gave us some of our heaviest defeats with 5-0 margins exposing his lack of skills. I dont remember Zoom, Chitalu or Freddie Mwila giving us such results with a fellow African team.
This is lack of news ba Lusaka Times. There is no substance in this story. The source of the news is himself not even worth making headlines. What’s immoral with being ambitious? We all need to upgrade ourselves and if a chance arises, get it. Which coach would not want to coach a World Cup team. That will enhance his credentials.
# 21 *********,,,,u have inferiority complex…who tod u only a muzungu is better for Zambia..who is better between Renard and Patrik Phiri..who has won more titles of the two? have common sense ********, dont upset our thinking..let this Renard GO,,if he thinks he is ripe enough and see if he is going to do any better..
There is no cause for panic. 9ja! if at all they give him a job will be purely a result oriented contract. Its either he goes to second round or lose the job. So I don’t see Renard opting for a high risk job. As a short term plan it can work but leave irrepairable damage on his very much improved cv. Even staying with Chipolopolo will be difficult because of the relationship between him and the press(POST). I have not included the hard to satisfy soccer fans and analysts. Lets wait for him to finish the contract and thats when we will cross the river. For now lets treat all thse stories as mere speculation. THANKS. GO ZAMBIA GO!!!
Why is these Peter kid is talking too much. He’s the same F who was saying we should fire the coach and 2day he says its immoral. You resign you yourself
What I really miss is a clear concept , a vision, a real plan for the next few years by FAZ.
What are our future goals? Where do we want to be in 2-4 years time? How can we progress?
I find it disturbing that so much fuss is made about the fact that the coach should or should not be an expatriate.
What we need is a long term arrangement with somebody ( capable ) who has a clear idea and commitment towards these goals.
It doesnt matter if this person is a Zambian or not . We need the best man available/affordable for the job.
Renards contract expires in May , are we going to wait till the last day and then decide what to do based on what Renard wants to do?
We can’t blame him for seeking other opportunities.
If he wants to go, bon voyage!
Im still thrilled with the Man U win at Emirates. This Renard talk is sickening. Let him go. Eeh ya shani, kwati ni gelo. Infact, if FAZ was credible enough, they could’ve fired him by now for poor performance.
The defference between Renard and Patrick Phiri is that the later has no consistence in team selection. He experiments in every game and you can not move forward like that. This is the reason we need a foreign coach. No ncekelako before you get in the team.
What can a good coach do without good players?? :d
Anyone could have taken Zambia to the Afcon. Renard is a chancer. Now he wants to go and show case his skills at World Cup! Let him go! he is no tactician. the only thing he has done is that he upped the team’s physique. The Zambian training bench were so scared of a mzungu. Jacob mulenga was not supposed to play 90 minutes he did a lot of running in the last 3 games.
he started with the same line up for all the games, makembo should go back to the pulpit rather than rant about a useless PE trainer
There is no pleasing Zambians. One minute you are trashing the guy and want him fired the next minute you are mad at the dude because he expresses his intentions to leave. Zambians you are a tough crowd to please. Some consistency will do our team good.
Ba Peter Makembo, what a fontini you are! there is nothing wrong with somebody being ambitious and looking to the future. Ba ZAVOSOFA Patron, gone are the dictatorial days when you just work in the same employment, keep your head down, say yes boss and take you cheque at the end of the month. you are a disgrace to your organisation, very useless!
