Luapula not owned by PF- BY

Share

NCHELENGE Member of Parliament Ben Mwila has said the Patriotic Front (PF) does not own Luapula Province and that the opposition party won most of its parliamentary seats by using former president Frederick Chiluba’s name.

And Mr Mwila has lashed out at opposition political party officials who shun Government functions, especially where the president is officiating.

He said in an interview in Mansa yesterday that the PF had campaigned on the basis that if voted into power it would discontinue Dr Chiluba’s court cases.

He said since the people in Luapula Province treat the former president as their hero, they warmed up to the promise and looked forward to dignity being restored to Dr Chiluba.

Mr Mwila, who is the National Democratic Focus president, said the people in the province know what is good for them and they would not be swayed by any falsehoods.

“People were saying Dr Chiluba is our son and we cannot forsake him. They wanted to vote for those that were promising to release him.

“But now they have shifted their stance and are looking to see a change in the manner they vote in the next elections,” he said.

He said Dr Chiluba deserved respect because he was among those who fought for multi-party democracy to return to Zambia.

On Dr Chiluba’s support for President Rupiah Banda, Mr Mwila said the former president should not be criticised for his views because he was a Zambian citizen entitled to participate in national affairs.

Mr Mwila wondered why the opposition had become jittery over Dr Chiluba’s support for Mr Banda when they had always said the former president was no longer an influential personality.

He described as petty the stance taken by some opposition leaders who shunned national events and presidential tours, saying they were only disadvantaging their people.

“Who do they expect to brief the president on the happenings of their areas when they are absent? Government functions should be recognised as being for the citizenry and not the ruling party.

“Being in the opposition does not mean we are enemies with those in power. We need to co-exist, our sole purpose is to improve people’s living standards,” he said.

  1. Personal advice BY, BY must just concetrate on his failing health than to fight the opposition. He is a finished politician runing a one man’s party to which he is a President. He is in the opposition but dailing promoting the running party what can of an opposition leader will be that? Shame that a man of his age can sink this low.

  2. # No. 2 Free at last, you really free at last. Ben Yoram Kantu (BY) is a spent force. He is a liar. PF got less votes in Luapula Province in 2006 when they had Chiluba on their side than in 2008 when they had Chiluba as an opponent (they got more votes).

What history he is quoting. Badwala ba mudala ba Kantu. Looking for a Job since the degree clause has caught up with him and his companies not doing well.

  3. #1 2 3-Guys What do you mean? B Y only campaigned for less than 10 days in Nchelenge and managed to get through to Parliament. Its like any one who is being objective is a big pain in you guys. Luapula province gave Sata serious VOTES both in 2006 & 8 but this time even Sata knows that he is in deep trouble let him get Votes from the POST and Mmembe. He has no morals No principle other that wanting to go to S. Hse at all cost.Whycan t we accept that Luapula has changed oh by the way u are not here I will forgive you, however for our Democracy to grow we need a vibrant opposition like PF so be it but the writting for any serious Zambian is on the wall that RB has changed the Political Situ this time around.I respect yo opinion tho.Love Zambians regardless of which party you surport.GOOD DAY

  5. #4 You have your facts wrong. Do not tell me that Luapula people have seen developments other than the Boat celemony. BY is a spent force.

  6. 2011 here we come again, I thinking is shallow. Sorry to say this but i feel thats the best i can descreibe you. To you and Ben Mwila you think ka Chiluba is your hero. You are mistaken. A wrong is a wrong. What FJT did to this country is bad and he should be feeling ashamed to walk in the streets with his head high. The guy plundered our economy to the borne and thank God he didn’t succeed with his third term bid. I wonder whats in some pipo’s minds who are supporting him when the 80% of the our country wallows in abject poverty. He was the president of this country what has he to show he did to alleviate the poverty of the masses? Shame on you guys. Try to think and stop pretending. This country is for all of us as such we need to share the little resources equitably.

  7. No.4 It is not true that Luapula has changed in voting pattern. Yes BY won in Nchelenge and it’s true PF won in Luapula. Be reminded that Luapula is still one of PF strongholds. The Rebel MP’s in PF campaigned hard against Mr. Sata but failed, he still had more votes in 2008 (without BY, rebel Mp’s & Chiluba’s support ) than 2006 when he had their support.

Check history & current scenario there. Sata still has Luapula. There is nothing on the ground to indicate MMD taken over. The chiefs there cleaver, as usual they publicly endorse MMD for gifts and campaign against them during elections period.

  8. Sata got more votes in Luapula in 2008 than in 2006 so what is that desperate BY talking about. Now this Bwezi guy wants to incorporate ZRA commissioner in his campaigns. Please Chriticles the writting is on the wall for the midget & his friends[-x[-x[-x[-x[-x

  9. #5 You are wrong you Sata because you believe in him, unfortunately I don t.B Y is right now on the ground, He is MP there and you are out of ZED. I respect your views not your insults. Please note here that this country is too great to be put in the hands of people like Sata that we Zambians based in Zambia and as registered Voters will not allow no matter what it takes here mark my words RB has managed this proccess very well. You are pretending that Sata didn t get the Luapula votes because of FTJ? nangu lupato tefyo Lets wait and see who is shallow between you and me.
#6 with due respect to your good views just counter check your facts, clearly all those who were on the team against MMD lost.

  11. 2001 LPM MHSRIP got votes in Luapula, CB and Northern provinces because of FTJ. The truth is that Luapula has turned I know that you were very hopeful but thats the truth. Simple you can rant and rant #5 but thats the truth

  12. On the spot BY for outlining that “… the Patriotic Front (PF) does not own Luapula Province and that the opposition party won most of its parliamentary seats by using former president Frederick Chiluba’s name“.

This is because Luapula Province belong to the Zambian People from all nine Provinces whose voice has been mandated to the MMD GRZ under the Presidency of RBB currently. I thus urge all progressive Zambains to stop purporting that certain part of our gr8 Nation belong to certain opposition or the ruling political party.

As long as we will continue viewing ourselves as separate entities in this country Zambia, the nation Zambia will never develop.

    Have a blessed day all.

Matt 6:33 But seek ye first the knigdom of God and His righteousness and all these…

  13. He he he he he That is why RB released Chiluba for the support because Sata did the same ? but this time RB you will not have the same fortune shame on you!

  14. UNLESS I DID NOT RECENTLY GO TO LUAPULA PROVINCE MAYBE I WOULD BE IN A POSITION TO ALMOST BELIEVE BY. I WAS RECENTLY THERE. BY IS AN ABSOLUTE LIER.

  15. ONE CAN COMFORTABLY SAY LUAPULA PROVINCE IS THE HOME OF PF. WHY HAD FJT TO BE PROTECTED BY POLICE FROM THE ANGRY PEOPLE OF MANSA IN ORDER FOR HIM TO GO AND COME OUT OF THE MANSA CHRISTIAN RADIO STATION IF HE IS STILL THEIR HERO. AND WHY DID THEY HAVE TO MOBILISE PEOPLE FROM LUSAKA TO GO AND STAGE THE ‘THANK YOU FOR AQUITTING A THIEF’ DEMO, WHICH WAS CHARACTERISED BY CURIOUS SCHOOL KIDS WHILE BUSINESS WAS NORMAL IN THE TOWN BUT MORE POLICE ON STREET IN CASE OF THE UPRISING.

  16. Luapula province, after Nchelenge upward to Puta, is the most undeveloped part of Zambia. I was really angry and ashamed that the people of Luapula can put up with politicians who do not care for the province. The MMD and BY have done well out of Multi-party democracy but the ‘development’ in Luapula is an embarrassment.
