Sata sues TIMES for defamation

Headlines Sata sues TIMES for defamation

PATRIOTIC Front (PF) president Micheal Sata has sued the Times of Zambia for libel.

Mr Sata has also applied for an interim injunction to restrain the newspaper and its servants or agents from publishing any defamatory words concerning him.

Mr Sata’s lawyers from Ituna Partners have also filed a certificate of urgency claiming that the matter was of extreme urgency and required expeditious determination as the Times of Zambia had allegedly continued to write, publish and print defamatory articles concerning Mr Sata.

In an affidavit in support of an interim injunction, Mr Sata stated the Times of Zambia published articles concerning him in the editions of February 22, 23, 24 and 25 this year.

He indicated that the articles titled some ‘Sata leads polygamous life’, ‘Forget about presidency’, Sata told, ‘Sata is not credible’- Mumbi, Chimumbwa.
He stated that the articles were allegedly defamatory.

“The words in the said articles in their ordinary and natural meaning meant and were understood to mean that I am not a law abiding citizen, I have a criminal record, I am not a sincere Christian, I do not abide by the rules and teachings of the Catholic Church, and I am a dishonest person with no integrity,” Mr Sata claimed.

Mr Sata said he was a staunch Christian in the Catholic Church which did not allow people leading polygamous or polyandrous lives to receive Holy Eucharist.

That he was a politician and alleged repetition of false imputation of a criminal character would only lower his estimation in the minds of voters.

He stated that unless the defendant was restrained by law of a court order from repeating the publication of defamatory matters, he was likely to suffer irreparable injury as his political ambitions and standing in the Catholic Church could not be atoned for by damages.

Mr Sata was claiming for aggravated or exemplary damages, an injunction restraining the defendant from further writing, printing or circulating or otherwise publishing of the plaintiff the said or any similar libel.

High Court judge handling the matter, Evans Hamaundu has set March 15 as the hearing date.

  1. Well sone SATA. I may not be your support but you are talking sense. It high time Times of Zambia, Daily Mail and ZNBC stated reporting the truth by not always defending the MMD.

  2. I think Mr. Sata should change his name to Mr. Lawsuit. Apart from king cobra, we should aloso call the ex convict, adulterer, shifting spanner (he is ever chnging statements). I like the ex convict name.

  3. Yes Sata I usually support you but on this one I wish to differ in that what was reported was really said by the said persons, it was even covered on Muvi TV, and those guys just reported what was said. So I think you better sue the people who said those words. The other truth i need to know is that do you really receive holy communion at St. Ignitius were you congregate in that you divorced your first wife and married a second one which the church must not recognise only if the said first marriage was not blessed in church and the second is?

  4. A gang of robbers broke into a PF awyer’s club by mistake. The old legal lions led by Winter Kabimba gave them a fight for their life and their money. The gang was very happy to escape. “It ain’t so bad,” one crook noted. “We got $25 between us.” The boss screamed: “I warned you to stay clear of PF lawyers… we had $100 when we broke in!”

  5. But imwe amudala a Sata, you are always doing that to others. What is the big deal when other people do the same to you?
If you are a true Christian you will remember a cardinal teaching, to “Do unto others as you want them do unto you”. Surely for an aspiring presidential candidate that cannot be difficult to understand. But then one understands that you are of limited academic background and your brother in law Father Telesphore has different rules for you.

  6. Mr Sata well done. These excuses for leaders shame on them shouldn’t think they can get away with anything and everything. These Govt gazettes of papers have lost the meaning of their existence. And am wondering what’s happening to our journalism in zambia. The Post is an extreme private paper driving its interests, the Govt controlled media is also rubbish journalism. So what’s going to happen to our press media. We need someone to save us from this circus and give us true journalism based on truth, adhering to ethics and being honest.

  7. So are we going to have the Archbishop come up and give evidence in Court together with FTJ, Petronella, Kaseba, his first wife? Then we shall have Mumbi and so forth? I really like it!!!
But why does Mr. Sata suddenly want to stop THE PRESS from writing about him. The times reported the news as it was gathered. Did the Times make up these stories about the big man? Didn’t he agree on his own that he has kids with the woman? Didn’t he say he can’t hide behind Condoms and that the Church does not allow the use of condoms? Didn’t the Bishop confirm he knew about these matters as far back as 20 years ago? The heat is getting too much for the big man.
CHAWAMIRA GARU KULUMA MBUZI BA SATA.

  8. # 3 and # 8 well said. Why can t he sue the Main known source of the story?? He is Mad. How many insults has RB received and ignored. I sthis the Man some people think can be in trusted with massive Presidential powers. I can bet Z will be in trouble with this man at the helm of leadership. God won t allow his people to go through that path.He can t take criticism and yet he is in the forefront disscrediting others. Shame!!
Its indeed a fact that he divorved the former Head of Kamwala Sec School and remaried to Kaseba after serious fights between Dr Kaseba and many other Girls friends. It is also a fact that He sired Kids with bishop Mpundu’s sister or sisters but still receives Holly communion in the Cathoric contrally to the known rules of the Church.what a Presidetial candidate…

  9. SATA and THE PF CADERS are completely defeated, They Cant stand the Politics anymore so they are running to the court for protection. SATA has more bad thing under his pants the reason he is taking anybody to court to stop the truth coming out.

THE POST is always writing DEFAMATORY HEADLINE against the Current Government and RB. To this the PF cadres call it FREEDOM OF THE PRESS BUT if times write anything like this to SATA they CALL it DEFAMATORY.

Why is SATA not taking CHULUBA TO COURT yet, HE KNOWS THAT MORE WILL COME OUT TO LIGHT.

    FOOLISH PF

  10. OK, I don’t get it. Doesn’t Mr. Sata and his image builder Mr. Fred do this in the POST? Is Mr. Sata developing a double standard where only he and his image builder are allowed to defame govt officials on a daily basis. Also the Times of Zambia just reported the stories. What does he have issue with? is it just the titles?

So Mr. Sata has sued the Times of Zambia in the same courts he once called compromised. Interesting.

    Develop thick skin mudala.

  11. This is a whole bunch of b.s. We see articles in the post especially about R.B and GK, everyday! Now that times has decided to publish articles about you, you claim that is defamation? Why dont they sue the post? Ask yourself that question? And what happens if thats true? Gk is a lawyer, for him to sue you over what u said on QFM was defamatory and the fact that you involved his personal business, run by his wife who is not in politics pushed him to the edge. So, please buy another cigarette and smoke ur problem.

  12. This chi old man is somethong else. Every day labelling his oponents all sorts of names and scanadlous things. Ka Chiluba just less than 2 hours of a press briefing reveals true stuff on him, here he goes to court. What about the people he insults. No wonder why Mwanawasa the GREAT said ” Dont take that man seriously, he is insane, he is a crown”. My humble plea to the PACTANS, please HH is your better Choice not this CHILILALILA, S****f****A*****H****. Ata chimudala ichi.

  13. I see #3, #8, and #11 are really naive, clueless and just plain blank about simple issues in LAW,this is something you can just google and it will explain to you why anyone can sue a news paper if they feel their character has been abused
please try to do a bit of research and thinking before you hit the submit button, otherwise you are dangerously exposing your ignorance, google is free

  14. These are the same courts you claim are controlled by the MMD which controls the TIMES,so what do you really want. The problem with you old man is that you insult others on daily basis using your friend and PR man Fred Mmeembe of POST paper.Anyway little education is indeed dangerous as they say,you are of no use politically to the country.Retire and let your children take over ,do not let your mulamu Mpundu to cheat you that 4 million katolikas will vote for you with the help of thugs like father Bwalya ,God won’t allow it to happen in Zambia .

  15. Who tells this bishop mpundu that they are 4 million katolikas in Zambia ,please stop telling iwe mpundu ,war monger.

  16. Sata ndye basankwa. Lets go and sue this cheap government mouth piece whose veins feeds on nothing but blood that is parasitically infected with the MMD government bug.:-?

  17. All this madness is just Giving HH more Kilograms, SATA will never, eva be the president of Zambia, no matter what he does, No matter what how LOUD PF Cadres INSULT, Now Chances are becoming HIGH for HH at least he has a Degree in ECONOMICS not POLITICAL SCIENCE or BOXEN

  18. On “The words in the said articles in their ordinary and natural meaning meant and were understood to mean that I am not a law abiding citizen, I have a criminal record, I am not a sincere Christian, I do not abide by the rules and teachings of the Catholic Church, and I am a dishonest person with no integrity,” I am very sad that Mr PF/Sata MC chose to take the Times of Zambia to court as opposed to just telling us about his criminal record and how it came about. On his christianity, I do not care how he practices it but he needs to be morally upright for him to qualify to lead Zambia by example.

    Have a blessed day all.
    _
Matt 6: 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.

  19. #14 Mr.Capitalist you are all wasting time. The Post reports the truth not what the OP edited Times of MMD reports. What ever the Post has reported has always openned a can of worms. On Mr. Sata receiving Holy Communion, this is a matter between him and God. If he has not complied with the conditions then he will be judged. But be rest assured, no Catholic Priest will tell you whether Sata has complied or not because our ethics do not allow any one to reveal confidential matters no matter what.

  20. # 17 with due resprct, if you are a Criminal as you refer to yourself and Sata as Cobra both bad terms one would want to be refered to. N’way don t call us names, all we are saying is how many times has the Post for example published falsehoods about RB and others. As a leader so may things are said about you but do you rush to sue newspapers when he himself is using the Post to scandalise his opponents. So what research do you want us to carry out?? Is there any reseach worth our time on this subject sure?? Lets contribute to issues without calling each other names. Have a wonderfull Day

  21. #22 Maestro, How clean is the current leadership morally? Are you sure of what you are talking about? No one is qualified to judge another person’s morals, if you yourself think you are upright, the same Bible which you quote everyday in your postings says, ‘be the first to cast a stone at Sata’.

  22. The Tabloid with the Editor in Chie being Minister of MisInformation…has been sued today.Great Stuff.i hope they will change the way they are operating because they a totall failue in a journalism profession by the way they are using tax payers money to benefit the mad dogs MMMD.The editors have allowed themselves to be supervised by politician.i pray that the court can award Exemplary dameges amounting to K36 Billion.next will be ZNBC and then in November Ka Daily mail..thats enough fundraising venture for The PF.

  23. Now you see its goog to be fare and just in life because you never know what tomorrow brings.
Yesterday it was mr Satas times now he is in problems. I hope you have learnt a lesson my friend.
    Animal farm arrangement is tayawama.

But you are talking same sense and i hope you will get your share…ba pongoshi.

  24. Serpet Cobra Satan feels the heat and rushes to court again. Anyhow, will wait for his answers to issues raised.

  25. Sata playing to the tune of MMD and really dancing the way they want him to. Tired of nonsense of Zambian politics. “Goose pimples” all over my body. How i wish this country can stop being petty. Its like now everybody has lost brains. Even the learnt have joined the s h i t. Iam even now tired of hearing or reading about Sata, Banda, Mpombo, Dora, Mulongoti, NCC, Shikapwasha, Lubinda, HH,MMD, PACT, NAREP, and many others. Each time i see these titles i lose interest. it has just become monotonous.
    Many might share my feeling/view.

  26. You people Mr Sata has every right to go to court if he feels agrieved just like RB can take the Post to court if he feels they are writing falsehood aboud him. No problem there. Atleast Mr Sata does not behave like RB who wants his cadres to beat Post reporters when agrieved instead of using the law. Mr Sata is trying to use the law here. It does not matter how many times he sues because the law does not prescribe how many times one can sue.So leave the man alone because its withing his rights. We on’t want PF cadres to satrt beating Times journalists, NO! Thats taking the law in their own hands. So you MMD supporters get over it and tell RB to use the courts when he feels agrieved rather than to resort to violence!

  27. The State Owned and Govt., controlled Times of Zambia, Daily Mail and ZNBC should take a leaf from BBC, CNN, Aljazeera and other progressive media outlets. Watching these Govt., controlled programes really sucks.

In Zambia the post has a wider coverage and sales figures. It speaks volumes in comparison to the combined Times, Daily etc.

  28. Petty do to others as you would like done to you this is the crazzies He is going to sue a paper because of the TITLE.
One good thing is he is actually interpreting the titles for us, he is actually telling us what he thinks when he sees those titles in the paper…
I for one would have read and just said oh its this political noncese again…but then Mr Sata came out and gave me a clue as to what it might mean kwena lol

  29. sata is panicking and exposing himself. The Times published what people said and quoted directly. this case if it ever gets to court will fail lamentably. sata is also using the little money he has on these court cases which will take him nowhere as he will be fighting in court while RB campaigns. RB’s case with Post is still in court from 2008. justice moves slowly and sata is tying himself in noughts because the Times have documentary evidence of evrything they have written and sata has fallen into the trap MMD have set for him. he should kiss his chances goodbye now!!! What political engineers we have in MMD

  30. I HAVEN’T YETB READ THE STORY, BUT THIS IS GOOD NEWS. WE KNOW THAT OUR LEGAL SYSTEM IS HEAVILY COMPROMISED. BUT, IT’S BETTER SOME OF THESE THINGS ARE PUT ON RECORD IN THE RIGHT AND LEGITIMATE WAY. COME 2011, THE PACT IS IN OFFICE AND THE END OF ALL RUBBISH.

  31. I HAVE READ THE ARTICLE AND TOTALLY, SUPPORT mR SATA’S INITIATIVE TO SUE THE PAPER. I CAN ONLY WISH THAT OUR LEGAL SYSTEM WILL STAND FIRM SO AS TO LEARN TO STAND AGAINST ANY FORM OF COMPROMISE. WE ALL UNDERSTAND THAT SOME OF THE JUDGES MAY LOSE THEIR JOBS IF THEY DID STICK TO THEIR PROFESSIONAL PRINCIPLES AND ETHICS. BUT, PROFESSIONALISM GOES WITH THAT.

  32. #10. YOU CAN’T BE SO IGNORANT! WHY SHOULD THE PAPERS, ORGANISATIONS OR INDIVIDUALS OFFICIALLY, BE DISCUSSING THE CASE WHICH IS IN THE COURTS. DOING SO IS ILLEGAL. UNFORTUNATELY, EVEN OUR LEADERS ARE AS BANKRUPTY AS YOU. AND YOU WONDER WHY ZAMBIA IS ALWAYS GOING BACKWARDS IN DEVELOPMENT.

  33. I like 2#. Amajokes. Yes Mr Sata should change his name to Mr. Lawsuit. How many cases is going to battle before 2011? The Bembas people say ” ichishinka chilakalipa” all the cases Mr. Sata has taken to court are a reality of his behavior. Taking cases to court is one way of stopping people to comment on his issues. Advise to the old man is please tell the truth on all those issues and it will set you free if you are true Christian. The bible says before you remove the log in some one’s eye remove first the log in your eye.Do not judge others leave judgement to God alone. We are all sinner saved by grace only if we repent our sins and focus on the goal of our faith.

  34. #15, WHAT’S WRONG WITH YOU? WHAT YOU SEE IN THE POST ARE NOT INSULTS, BUT FACTS ON CERTAIN ISSUES. DO YOU THINK MMD AS ANGRY AS THEY ARE WOULD NOT DIVE TO SUE THE POST? THEY WANT THE POST AND SATA (ETC) BURRIED-THEY WOULD JUMP TO ANY AVAILABLE OPPORTUNITY. WHEN THEY SAY CHILUBA IS A THIEF AND RB IS A LIAR, THEY ARE NOT INSULTING THEM. YOU AND ME KNOW THESE CHAPS ARE LIARS ANTHIEVES.

  35. #18. IT DOESN’T MATTER. YOU VE NO REAL REASONING. WHERE DO YOU THINK HE SHOULD SUE THEM-IN THE US of A? YOU MUST BE REMINDED THAT EVEN IF OUR LEGAL SYSTEM IS COMPROMISED, AT LEAST SUING THEM WILL PUT THINGS ON RECORD. WHEN THE SITUATION IS CORRECTED IN ZAMBIA IN THE NEAR FUTURE THOSE FULLY COMPROMISED JUDGES WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR BOOTLICKING. THE CHILUBAS OF ZAMBIA WILL BE BROUGHT BACK TO COURT TO PROPERLY BE TRIED.

  36. People are busy thinking about themselves and what this one/newspaper etc says….haaaaalllllo you are a public figure worry about us your people that you want to lead and not your public image. Leave it to us to judge for ourselves **==

  37. Obviously all those saying the Times just reported what they were given have exposed their ignorance of not knowing the basic definition of libel. The Times cannot give its defence as having just been “given” information. Libel occurs when you cause to be published information about someone that is either derogatory or slanderous. The more prominent a person is in society like MC Sata, the more damaging the libel is considered. He has a very valid legal position, and Times is legally in a weaker position because they will have to prove that they meant no malice in publishing which doubt they will be able to do.

  38. Firstly, Sata has every right to sue if he feels aggrieved. But, Sata should know that he is a public figure and he personally decided to do so. By doing so he has accepted that the way he leads his life should go public. Chiluba raised issues on Sata that need an honest answer from him. The electorate want to know the person fully that aspires to be their Republican President. Sata has fallen prey to the ‘political engineer’s’ antics. He has become defensive and now he is exposing himself further. Now we know what he will do to opposing media organisations including the post if he were president. They will be gagged each time they wrote anything that would hurt him.

  39. 43
#43 Musonda Chibamba -= Bauze bomfwe. In Bemba we say Kabepa ta bepele, Kalundulwila ewa mulandu. For those who cant understand the lingo- it means, The One who Said it did not say it but the one who relayed the news is the Guilty one.

  40. I saw this coming. Ba mudala ba Sata was supposed to be talking about the policies that they are going to implement once voted into Power but he was busy attacking Chiluba. And chiluba has been quiet for a long time before he reacted. Nomba ba Mudala ba amba fire fighting. This is a big leason to politician, they should concetrate on policies they intend to put in place and condemn bad policies and unworkable policies that the ruling part is implementing as opposed to being personal. God Bless our beloved country Zambia.

  41. Bakamba if i had power i cud have employed all MMD members to be creanig my cows pamatako…and pravitize national press cos ababofi mulebafwenga abakumulabasa..twanaka mwee…SATA good move

  42. abel that is exactly what the man is doing ‘fire fighting’ and they will keep him in check until 2011. bane MMD does not sue Post because they know its a waste of time and money. Most people who still read that paper know that 80% of what they publish is hearsay and opinions of people. you cant sue the post for wynter calling the president irresponsible and playful. it is a waste of time, because in the eyes of many zambian wynter is a finished sick politician with no constituency. all those positions he is claiming fame for were by appointment by his uncle sata

  43. in fact Times should now publish what sata is trying to stop them publishing. i know its about the child he has with the older sister to petronella. sata has children with two of the bishops sisters thats why the bishop forgot he was a man of the cloth and spoke like a politician, the man is afraid of what else will come out from FTJ when he returns from RSA. Wampya munzi

  44. Bakamba if i had power i cud have employed all MMD members to be creanig my cows paaammatttakoooo…and pravitize national press cos ababofi mulebafwenga abakumulabasa..twanaka mwee…SATA good move

  45. Even if you can publish all BAD things that sata did since he was born, unfortunately nothing is going to change our mind towards MMD thieves. VIVA sata and the pact.

  46. Can somebody let us know what the cost of suing and taking people to courts? It seems to me that the only people who are laughing are Ituna and Co solicitors. Where exactly does Sata get his money from? Is he able to fully account for the wealth the money that he has? Also, what exactly is he suing the times for because all the things they wrote about him are true?

  47. #52 Sata is an asttute business man. Mind you he is/was a share holder in Standard Bank. He is not like Kafupi a man without foundation

  48. 43 Musonda Chibamba says,

Please just answer US, don’t waste time writing all that English, the questions are simple, even Bishop Mpundu did not answer the question. Even the Roman Catholic Church is not answering the question why SATan Continues to EAT the Cornpafs.

I can tell you, Times is Winning on this one, Seems you President and PR manager Fred Membe dont know the best way to hanle this issue.

Now SATan is all over the country talking on all Radio station and ever BURNING Taiwan Dollars on lawyers.

SATan started this game of Insults, HE Insults almost everybody including his supporters. NOW THE GAME HAS changed.

NEVA, NEVA , EVER will this man be called YOUR EXCELLENCY, he will die with this and come back as a GHOST walking around PARLIAMENT BULDING , Insulting…

  49. #3 Countryboy, if you are ignorant about the law of libel you are better off shutting up and not exposing your ignorance here. If you repeat a lie said by someone else, knowing or not knowing it to be a lie, you are equally culpable of the same offence. It’s as simple as that. If what you claim was true, then newspapers and media entities would never be sued for libel or defamation since by their very nature of work they merely “report” what others say. Therefore your premise is false and should be dismissed with the contempt it deserves, to use a popular Zambian way of putting things. I rest my case.

  50. This just shows ba Sata is feeling the pressure. Always insulting George kunda, now its your turn. U have really brought shame to his family, even his innocent kids cannot move freely because of the things you say about their father. His a parent, he deserves respect. Nomba ninshita yobe, you will be mentally tortured jus like you have done to GK and his family. And suprising enough, he never calls you names. Not to an extent of considering his statements as insults. Sue times, lets see where you get with it.What goes around comes around.

  51. Unless the lawyers dont know the law you cant issue an injunction against publishing “any defamatory words concerning him” There is already a law that bans defamation. Its like issuing an injuction against thieves not to rob your home.

  52. Musonda Chibamba @ 43 and Dejha Vu @ 45, spot on. The ignorance displayed on this blog is sometimes breath-taking!! Only proves one thing: Most bloggers on LT are only their party’s mouthpieces and believe only their point of view is correct regardless of the facts before. What a shame.

  53. Here is a foretaste of what would happen if this man became President. Can you imagine if he had been in RB’s shoes? By now, there would be no Post Newspaper and its editors would have been jailed for treason. Let the nation be warned, that if he can do this in courts which he does not control, I shudder to think what would be if he was President!

  54. # 23,the post reports biased truth:o

so sata thinks when hes uses defamatory statements in the post, he thinks hes within his rights, people can hit back hard and where it hurts most. I think Sata should check the word defamatory against the words which he uses on other people before he cries aloud. whats the difference between “chiluba is married to convict” and “Sata leads a polygamous life”.

Both statements are true and defamatory, so if you live in a grass house dont play with fire because your house can burn down.:o

  55. Times journalists are more professional than the gutter tabloid and the old man is in trouble this time. He has been cornered like a sick hyena. He has played Chiluba now he is in maningi trouble. Chiluba knew that if he poked him as he did, the man would shed his lamb’s wool and come out fighting dirty as he is used to, BUT wait a minute! Didn’t he threaten Chiluba as well? So why hasn’t he done so? Atase, this man should not disgrace us as President. The race now is clearly between the novice HH and the incumbent RB. May the best man win!

  56. #56 Chenda Bwamba
You are right, but what will be the problem here is whether what was reported was the truth or not. If it is established that it is true, then would it be of public interest? He cannot sue reporting because there is always the journalists, ‘efforts to contact … proved futile.’ This in journalism is always put in, in order to give a chance to refute the story. If you have been given an opportunity to put your side of the story, it is not libel or defamation.

  57. Ba SATAn tabakwata insoni. He has no integrity to protect at all, that is why his mouth just spews insults and all manner of rotten stuff. He can talk porn and s e x while addressing a rally in front of children. He has nothing to lose but telesphore mpundu has a lot to lose. If all is laid bare how will telephore mpundu face his flock in church? That is the real issue. This law suit by Sata seems to be tailored more to protect mpundu than Sata. And the suit will be funded by mpundu, Sata is too stingy to spend money on lawyers especially on a case that he is certain to lose. Didn’t he threaten to sue Chiluba, has he done it? NO!

  58. The judge should expedite hearing this case, possibly throw it out at first hearing. These chaps just want to buy time knowing that such cases take time. Meantime Times should publish as much as possible before the matter is ready for a hearing. Do not worry about defence expenses, just let me know and I will help financially to sort out these shameless people masquarading as our saviours when they are just satanists.

  59. 61, that is the point. The evidence to be adduced by the Times should include quotes of what Sata has said in the Post so that the judge can compare. And what is Sata complaining about when himself and mpundu have admitted these sleezy relationships in public and they are on record: audio tape, video tape, paper and all.

  60. “He indicated that the articles titled some ‘Sata leads polygamous life’, ‘Forget about presidency’, Sata told, ‘Sata is not credible’- Mumbi, Chimumbwa.
He stated that the articles were allegedly defamatory.” What is defamatory about these words? This is what desperate people! Come on Sata try something else.

  61. i have noted that alot of comments are coming from idot, crook, stupid and devils sons who surviva on MMD. i want to tell i am not a politican nor do i support SATA but speaking the trust as taxpayer citizen iam feed up with public media were of reporting i will never vote for MMD and those media are now MMD cadres shame on you stupid. Weather u like it or not SATA is incoming president you are just less educated people.Who dont know that dis foolish Mumbi, Chimumbwa and Edwin are paid up crooks who want to fatten their pockets as elections are around the corner? PF_UPND is unstopable. Zambian we are tried of ill politicans without a vision.i cry LORD why did u took away LEVY Mwanawasa from us poor Zambian? He was a man who never believed in cheap politics.Save mother Zambia please

  62. One thing for sure is that Sata wins these cases!
And the Times of Zambia with their political editor, Mr Davis Mataka, can only plead two things 1. Justification, and 2. Fair Comment.
Forget about the person who uttered the words, it is the person who published, or caused them to be, published who faces the music. For the defence of justification to work, the Times must have very good reasons to publish the story such as privilege coming from the head of state, courts of law or parliament, not chilandelande. Fair Comment? Kaya. Alya money nafuti Sata.

  63. Mr Sata, Please Concentrate on campaining 2011 is near. Your voters want to hear issues of Bread not how many court cases you won or attended. This must really be serious, is it because the times reporter said he had more revelations that he can make. This is a sign of Panic. How many demeaning statements has Mr. Sata made to his colleagues?

  64. 69, 70 You must be living in paradise if you cannot see the nonsense in sata. How you think that sata is a man of vision and fail to see him for what he really is can only be attributed to gross blindness.
And Sata will lose all the cases anyway, no worry there. Meanwhile you have failed to answer the question why it is in order for sata to insult and defame others but the same should not happen to him. Are you normal guys? Sata brought the culture of insults and taught HH too. Caused a lot of moral damage to our country and you are proud of that. As for HH that has fatally wounded his standing in society. If RB is corrupt Sata will be a million times more corrupt, unfortunately we will never prove it since he will never be president of Zambia.

  65. # 49 “Sata has children with two of the bishops sisters thats why the bishop forgot he was a man of the cloth and spoke like a politician” This makes a lot of sense, Sata is not sleeping well because all will come out. The paper that Digs Deeper has all this info, but because of their skewed agenda they will selectively publish what supports their agenda. It will be interesting to read an editorial from the post on the Pact (UPND-PF).

  66. The frost newspaper has nothing to say about their paymaster over these polygamous allegations. What happened to the money confisicated from Mikael in South Africa during the zamtrop days? Ba cobra balefwaya ukuba kwati ba ZUMA. Lets also ask why Fr Bwalya is talking too much.Maybe another sister issue…………:d

  67. #72. It is very simple. If people feel defamed by anyone, least of all Sata, they can sue. They even have recourse criminal libel. It is no defense to say that Sata also defames others. Apa there is nothing about living in paradise or being a supporter of Ubwato, it is about the law. The problem with us as Zambians is that we think with our hearts and not our minds. Vukani maZambia.

  68. When a nation and Government of high intellectual attainments undertakes to superintend the politics of a nation against the comparatively ignorant opponents, the smart rulers are absolutely to prescribe the course which is to be taken by the opponents. It is not necessary however to say anything on this subject. For it is proved by unanswerable evidence, that we are not at present seeing the relevance of the useless opponents. It would be bad enough to consult their failed intellectual taste at the expense of their intellectual health. But we are consulting neither. We are withholding from them the learning which is palatable to them. We are forcing on them the mock learning which they nauseate.

  70. #52, WHERE YOU BORN OUTSIDE ZAMBIA, OR DID YOU LIVE ZAMBIA VERY YOUNG NOT TO KNOW THAT SATA IS AN EMPLOYER? SATA IS NOT LIKE RB, MIND YOU.

  71. #75. YOU VE MISSED A POINT. MOST ZAMBIANS THINK USING THEIR BOTTOMS. THEY MISTAKE THEIR BOTTOMS FOR THEIR HEADS. THEY 4GET THAT THERE ARE NO BRAINS IN THEIR BOTTOM N BY THE TIME THEY ARE REALISING THAT, ACTUALLY THEY WERE USING THEIR BOTTOMS THEY VE ALREADY SAID AND DONE A LOT OF NONSENSE. AND MOST THESE EVEN BECOME ZAMBIA’S TOP LEADERS. IS IT ANY WONDER MONKEYS ARE DEFICATING ON SOME OF THEM?

  72. I think if Winter Kabimba was as clever as he would like us all to believe, he would let his wayward nemesis boss know that before he engages in all this way too numerous legal battles of his, he should first consider subscribing to the doctrine of Equitable Estoppel. I mean, Sata has to be the most foul mouthed and slanderous politician in this country and before he rushes to courts he should know that “he who seeks equity, must do equity”. We all still recall the alarm he unecessarily caused the nation in 2001 by maliciously claiming that KK was hiding guns in Sindamisale to stop MMD from coming to power but when called upon to show us these guns, he chickened out. Were he morally upright, how would he go on to sire Mukupa and Chilufya, mufyani, leaving his lawfully wedded wife…

  73. at home boiling with rage? And I doubt these are the only two children Sata has sired, “mufyani”, there must be numerous others out there especially when he was at LUDC. We cannot have a man with such loose morals becoming president otherwise its recipe for a Promiscuous Nation like Swaziland.

  74. If Sata,HH,kabimba do not matter why not ignore them? if indeed,MMD is working people can still vote for them.but alas, they want to continue raping the country resourses.Just look at the neighbours who treasure their resourses.we are 700 times less valued in currency. cant we get ashamed? you can yap but people in chawama are suffering though you bloggers are paid to write senseless things, feel guilty please.

  75. #78 & #80, you sound like a misguided puppy, i thought you being ku bulaya, you were exposed by now and have learnt to look at real issues.. and give out some sound points:-? but you are way off reality, i suspected you have some chamba smoking effects in your brains from the time you were still unborn 8-| maybe your parents shared the mushanga with sata..thats why:o

  76. NUMBER 72/ MY FRIEND YOU ARE NOT A PERSON TO TELL ME HISTROY IS THERE TO JUDGE. WEATHER U LIKE IT OR NOT I AM MORE EDUCATED PERSON THAN YOURSELF. IN DEMOCRACY PEOPLE HAVE FREEDOM TO CRITICIZE THE GOVT IN POWER WHY DO U WANT TO SILENT SATA? TIMES AND ZNBC ARE TAXPAYER MEDIA HOUSE IAM CONCERNED ABOUT MISUES OF MY MONEY THEY SHOULD ATLEAT CONCERNTRATE ON SOMETHING WORTH READING LIKE DEVELOPMENT INSTAED OF BEING MMD MOUTH PIECE. NO AMOUNT OF THREATENS SHALL RESIST US FROM UNSETTLING THIS MMD GOVT.

  77. When it comes to politics Zambian media is usually biased. The post post tries to demonize the government and government media try to demonize the opposition. All of them are wrong in the way they handle these affairs. Since they all report one sided truths/lies, it makes sense to read government and non-government papers to have a somewhat complete picture. I think what we as readers should do is ask these politicians to tell us the truth when these allegations are made. Zambians are so caught up in politics and in defending their parties. We should never side with politicians. Politicians should exculpate themselves before the national jury with the truth. Until we change this type of thinking, we will never have credible leadership and a progressive country.
