Shame on MMD for petitioning the Mufumbwe by-elections, Nkombo

Share

Mazabuka central UPND Member of Parliament (MP) Gary Nkombo has said it is shameful to learn that the MMD has announced its intentions to petition the Mufumbwe election results when they had all the resources, authority, and freedom to campaign.
Mr. Nkombo has urged president Rupiah Banda to concede defeat and not to issue remarks that the Mufumbwe by-elections were not free and fair which he should not have said if the seat was won by his party.

The Mazabuka MP said in an interview this morning that it will be shameful for the ruling party to petition the Mufumbwe by-election results after they failed to win despite using all sorts of methods.

He said it was unfortunate that despite mitigating all the violence in Mufumbwe which included police brutality and the manipulation of chiefs, the MMD were still crying foul and issuing unwarranted reasons for their failure.

Mr. Nkombo noted that the opposition should have been the ones to complain over the MMD’s conduct during campaigns and alleged that the violence in Mufumbwe was blessed by president Rupiah Banda.

He said the president had camped in Mufumbwe for three days and did not strongly come out to condemn the violence but kept quiet which led to the continuation of blood shedding in the area.

Mr. Nkombo who is also UPND chairman for energy urged the president to concede defeat and stop hiding from the truth.

He said UPND was more than ready to face the MMD in court and that they would not be scared of anything.

The MP added that the winning of the Mufumbwe seat was not coincident but systematic.

  1. let them go to court am just worried because we are aware that all those crooks at the top of supreme court are all Banda inlaws, friend or school mate. so anything can happen but to hell with then. infact if MMD did not use all those crooked methods, they would have less than 1000 votes

  2. Now I agree with people who say that MMD has remained with empty tins only. There is no one thinking normally all are confused. What a terrible state of affaires. MMD is going mad before its 2011. Hey, i am mauless people.

  3. The Mufumbwe election wasn t free and fair both to participating parties. The violence was too much. Go MMD and petition. Any reasonable judge should declare this seat to be re contested. Garry is just a shemefull play boy

  4. UNDER ABDUCTIONS AND STUBBINGS, MUFUMBWE RESULTS VOID
To marshal A DIFFERENCE OF 168 votes it had to take Hichilema and Watson Lumba now on the run’s hands dripping with human b-l-o-o-d of their victims in a constitutional democracy. Will the new MP walk with peace, dignity, a personal safety and a conscious in a constituency where he has won by dripping human b-l-o-o-d? It is necessary for families and victims of this UPND terror acts to petition this election for nullification. Let political part pitch again for a human b-l-o-o-d free campaign outcome.

  5. Just how would this MP go around the constituency and serve the same people whom he has left lame, stubbed, churches burned, police abducted and some people left with destroyed eyes? What could secure his representation in the constituency?

  6. Will he be moving in the constituency with the same army of hired Copperbelt and Lusaka thugs for physical security around the clock? We all know that violence begets violence and UPND has sown seeds of retaliation they may have a nightmare to circumvent in Mufumbwe unless justice prevails now. The option is constitution nullification. Unless the MP will be representing this constituency from heaven from where he will just be remotely delegating working orders, I foresee the victims and families of casualties of the Hichilema orchestrated violent campaign creating another bye-election in Mufumbwe very soon. This seat must be petitioned to bring legitimacy and harmonious outcome lacking otherwise I fear the MP may just be plugged in a hell run for his bloody seat.

  7. It is disheartening to learn that Mr President RB Banda, who was responsible for the Mufumbwe by-election through his GRZ Administration, is behaving ike his friend bitter UPND president election loser – ULP unelected leader – MP Sakwiba Sikota.

On “The MP added that the winning of the Mufumbwe seat was not coincident but systematic” I am glad that the UPND is teaching MMD a good lesson day-by-day.

    Have a blessed day all.

  8. This seat must be petitioned to bring legitimacy and harmonious outcome lacking otherwise I fear the MP may just be plugged in a hell run for his b-l-o-o-d-y seat.

  9. No way no how can one be a leader out of b-l-o-o-d dripping human beings in a constitutional democracy. A precedence need to be set here that violence has no dividends and UPND must know that their violence cannot be free and rewarding. Zambians and victims of this nefarious election campaign must file a petition in the courts of law and put an injunction before the speaker of the house that this MP should not be made to take oath of office until a rerun is given. He cannot be MP with human b-l-o-o-d profusely dripping in his hands.

  10. HH, his party and the MP must legally be made to see the human blood now dripping in their hands. Embracing this violence is a bad precedence for Zambia and 2011. Null this election now.

  11. UPND was tolerated in Mapatizya when they did the same to take a seat from Mwanawasa then but this time violence must be constitutionally and legally challenged to set precedence. Citizens must challenge this seat for the sake of a democratic precedence.

  12. MMD find it obnoxious in seeing that UPND under orders of HH has turned into a terrorist organization in the country of democracy and social harmony where HH has resorted to abductions, arson of Churches of Jesus Christ. He has resorted to nefarious acts of human stubbing and machete totting against Zambians.

  13. Today HH is no different from Iraq’s late terror Chief Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. Just on Thursday they abducted Constable Elijah Chiluba for murdering at their command center a criminal conduct that has left Solwezi MP Watson Lumba into hiding. They are losing two seats on criminal conduct and violence against Zambians.

  14. Thank God almighty families and victims of the Hichilema violence with generous support of some selfless Pro-democracy activists in the country are petitioning the Mufumbwe elections when HH is still dripping with fresh human blood in his hands and on the head.

  15. It’s sad that UPND HAS MOVED FROM AN ALTERNATIVE OPPOSITION TO A TERRORIST ORGANIZATION

This is the dilemma of UPND under Hichilema in democracy. UPND a once alternative political party has been turned into terror organization by HH and today it’s facing challenges of two bye-elections it could have avoided had Hichilema avoided criminal conducts of violence and abductions against Zambians. Again, North Western province has elections on its horizon come what may.

  16. But will Hichilema get away with his violent spirit this time around? Will his own violent politics spare him? Let time speak for itself.

Thank God the Mufumbwe elections are set for a constitutional nullification so that HH can gamble with his violent spirit again. But unfortunate I fear his violence may just aim him instead without margin of error this time.

  17. Ba vetinarian of Mental Mad Dogs, your RaBies has only remained in E/province to treat.

  18. Veteran are you out of your mind. The violence in Mufumbwe was caused by MMD. And the reason is they knew they were losing.Milanzi was quite coz MMD were comfortable. I for one is very pleased with the people of Mufumbwe. Despite the people being in a rural area the have given MMD red card. Bravo even if MMD goes to court their tactics will be laid bare.

  19. Its just few months ago that MMD swept Chitambo with Dr. Musonda. Was that eastern province? And just the myth of overloooking the national wide performance of MMD is myopic analysis. Which areas have you seen MMD come out with dismal results. In a winner takes it all constitutional democracy MMD just need s strong outcome is a some areas around the country and a balanced usual decent ending in around the country. Look at Sata’s 3% toll in NW and the 87% MMD. Look HH’s 65% show in Southern and MMD’s 30%.Look at PF’s 50% show in Luapula and MMD’s 45%.look at PF show in Western at 9% with MMD 87%.Its a myth to think that the winner takes all this disparities would see MMD lose or indeed that its 2/3 house strength would be lost in constituencies. That trolling deductive analysis.

  20. MMD victorious in Luapula council polls

THE MMD has scooped five out of eight local government by-elections which include two Patriotic Front strongholds in Luapula Province.

MMD spokesperson Dora Siliya said the party won Chilubi and Mwansabombwe in Luapula and two other seats in Kasempa.

Ms Siliya said the MMD was happy that it had scooped five out of the eight local government by-elections that were held on April 29.

  21. She said the party had won two local government by-elections held in Chilubi, one in Mwansabombwe, which was the stronghold of the opposition PF and the other two in Kasempa.

The two wards are Dengwe and Kamekechi in Kasempa while the ruling party lost Shilenda ward in Solwezi.

Ms Siliya said the people of Milanzi and other areas where the ruling party had won the local government by-elections had made the right decision by voting for the MMD candidates.

  22. She said the ruling party would ensure that it delivers on its campaign promises in various areas it had scooped the elections and even in areas where the people decided to vote for the opposition.

Ms Siliya said the ruling MMD would continue to work hard and ensure that it revives various sectors of the economy and improve people’s lives in different areas of the country because it was the only party with the interests of the nation.

  23. Are the following seats won in Eastern province?

the party had won two local government by-elections held in Chilubi, one in Mwansabombwe, which was the stronghold of the opposition PF and the other two in Kasempa.

The two wards are Dengwe and Kamekechi in Kasempa while the ruling party lost Shilenda ward in Solwezi.

  24. Is Chitambo is eastern province? Its only the MMD that has its structures and members in all constituencies, provinces, wards, branches, districts and chiefdoms if not villages. The so called oppositions are just in tribal segments. To make matters worse they only show up or head in 90% of Zambian parts in the election month. Its wishfull troll’s analysis to think 2011 will be a walk over untill you see it manifesting with shocks.Zambians have no alternative capable of turning to its ruins the oppositions so wish.

  25. Mwata dont be foolish and stupid u see how many Zambian are suffering u are been feeded with corruption. shame on you we will face your conquences come 2011. go pact go pact go Zambian have said and the writing are all clear on the wall that REAL CHANGE is needed. we say NO to police brutality no amount of intamidate and threatens will change minds of progressive Zambia. MMD and naked shameless Mwata should start packing. You sons of deveils you are the causes of fellow human’s blood shed in Mufumbwe. One dat u will be held accountable for this and yama WIlliam Banda, should the Pact win, we will deport u back to your orign in Malawi or face death sentence for uour thugs involvement in killing 2 youngs

  26. We are ready for petition we have enough evidence against MMD’s activities in mufumbwe. Actually all information is on video so go ahead and petition. The problem is people who were not in Mufumbwe are they ones who are talking too much on this blog.

  27. MMD can not believe that they have lost the seat, to them they are still dreaming that the seat is not won. Just forget and start afresh.

  28. Veteran mind you bad language. I doubt whether you live Zambia you are MMD party cadre who is so disappointed that your party Mwalya Mweka Daddy has lost it.

  29. hahahah Mad MMD is in disaray. Vetran Mwata Senior Citizen job is in danger. RB is thinking of firing Veteran Mwata Senior Citzen coz all those who were supporting MMD on LT blog have now shifted camp after seeing how devil RB and MDD is. So Senior Citizen has resorted to changing his ID to Mwata or Veteran. Hahahah, just wait for next year 2011, you will be flushed out of that USA embassy. Just wait when even your wife and children will desert you. Hmmm WAPYA MUNZI.

  30. Veteran, how do you feel when you write what u write? If you are really BK as some bloggers say .. i must say i am very disappointed with you. I was one of you fans when you were at ZNBC but now i wish i never was. Anyway i was still young. Repent before it’s too late!!

  31. My, my, Mr. Gary Nkombo. I think it is not right to say that it is a “Shame for the ruling part to petition the mufumbwe by-election” I am not MMD member, but I wonder whether democracy is only for the opposition. The ECZ pronounced the UNDP the winner of Mufumbwe seat- Congratulations to the party that won. However, if there is an aggrieved party in those election results let them prove their facts in the courts of law. Dismissing the complaint simply because it is the ruling party that is complaining it is not right. Let us give our democracy a chance. If we confuse issues so easily we will never, pull ourselves out of the mess that we will plunge ourselves into.

  32. Veteran you may be off-truck by calling HH terrorist. I think MMD just needs to accept defeat and change strategy. Self-critism is a better option. The losses suffered in North-Western are a testimony that the ruling party is slowly giving away some of its strongholds to UPND. It will not benefit MMD sympathizers to get frustrated and bitter, but optionally get back to the drawing board. There is still time for MMD win sympathy and deliver. But HH appears to be investing every minute to win regional sympathy away from RB, more especially in North Western, probably next in Western. If the Mongu-Kalabo rd is not done, RB may have difficulties to win votes in Western, remember Westerners vote as unit.

  33. Zambia is heading toward civil war because of people who have refused to reason and have chosen to follow political opportunists blindly.

When people talk of supporting their parties, they are convinced that even death is acceptable as a means for their party to win elections.

This kind of mood will bring Zambia to complete civil war and the change that these blind followers are asking for will come with lots of deaths, rape, murders and rebel movements destroying the mines.

It is important to let the will of the majority prevail. This is what a multi-party democracy is about.

The idea of imposing ones desires on the majority by force, will only bring civil war. So just because one group feel they want change, does not mean change should be forced on everyone else.

    This…

  34. i would have thought that the PACT should have been celebrating at this news. Is it not the right time to expose them?

  35. some of the comments here are so annoying. who is this i@@@t called veteran? some people can do anything evening killing their own people just to keep their asses fat. i believe a real leader should put the needs of his people before his own. it is clear to every well meaning Zambian that things are not as well as they were before Banda came to power. Zambia is at the verge of a civil war,the economy is going down, the judicial process is compromised,MMD cadres can threaten to gang rape people and get away with it,the NCC is compromised, the police have become MMD cadres the list is endless. this son of the b####h writes shit. sorry for the language but it hurts to see people ignoring the fact just because they are benefiting from the stupid regime.

Veteran why do you always defame the opposition?
Is that all you can do is spew hatred on anybody who does not agree with your insane thoughts?
Since when has H.H ever planted road side bombs?
When has H.H cut off the heads of infidels(MMD)?
Your words are close enough to start a race war just to save your lazy leader.
Your english skills are poor so most people here now realise that you are just a cadre barking for food…

  37. The voter oppression strategy of the UPND should be condemned.

People should be allowed to express their will and not be intimidated so that someone else can win. Democracy is about freedom of expression and not oppression of expression. UPND has become a very desperate party whose intentions are to win elections at all costs.

The intellectual approach the HH once had has been eroded by this barbaric new character which will only shed blood. Many hoped HH was the future of Zambian politics but it appears that we have to wait for the likes of NAREP to take charge of change in Zambia.

The MMD must petition these results so that justice is served and a precedent is set.

  38. If MMD is guilty of malpractice, why should Nkombo be so scared of by-elections? If he really believes that MMD was up to no good, then let them petition the by-election, have it nulified and have a new one. This time it will be free and fair because politicians will have learned a lesson.

I think Nkombo knows more than he speaks. He is affraid of a petition because it will be difficult to fan violence again in Mufumbwe once the courts nulify the seat and calls for a by-election.

Nkombo is panicking and exposing UPND’s fears.

  39. If Nkombo is correct that there was malpractice in Mufumbwe, he should be in the forefront calling for nulification of the by-election. Nkombo preaches that he wants the will of the people to prevail therefore he should be the first one to push for a petition to expose MMD’s malpractices in the Mufumbwe by-election.

Why is he so worried about a petition?

  40. Yes! Nkombo must expose what MMD did at the petition and not sweep it under the carpet.

This is gross negligience and a malpractice in itself.

  41. It is sad when someone cannot read the times and mood that has befallen him…how clueless can you be? Hint are everywhere, even the climate is changing for … time for new things.

  42. Dream on MMD petition and lets have a fair campaign and see how you will be embarrased, the figure you gave old Mulondwe is ficticiuos and he knows that.Mulondwe will refuse to go for a re-run because even that figure he got is too much and he knows thats why he is quiet only riffruffs are talking of not accepting the defeat

  43. Go ahead and petition . You will still lose you cowards my fellow N/westerners lets boot them out . Any leave HH and Lumba Alone if you want peace in this nation.

  44. shame on you zambians for fighting each other…its usually people from lusaka who instigate violence..the people out there are very peaceful.By the way where were the police? much of that is fueled by the police impartiality. Remember that the natural response of every human to danger is to defend himself.

  45. In football, when fans misbehave, a rematch can be played without supporters in attendance. In the same way, if the court should declare the election null, they should go further & ban use of cadres by all parties. In fact there shouldn’t even be any campaigns, just let people go & vote straightaway.

  46. we ve always told the people that vote for mmd that they are upto no good..we need change..its a dead and violent party..
