Pregnant woman found dead in a Kalingalinga lodge

Share

A five months pregnant woman aged between 21 and 25 years old has been found dead in a room at Nkhumanyandine lodge in Lusaka’s Kalingalinga compound.

The woman only identified as Elizabeth of Lusaka’s Mtendere compound allegedly went to the lodge around 02 hours in the company of a man who is yet to be identified.

A friend to the deceased, Rose Phiri told MUVI TV news that her friend was picked up around 02 hours by a taxi driver from Mayela bar.

And a receptionist at Nkumanyandine lodge, Patrick Mwambafula said an unknown man booked the room where Elizabeth was found dead around 23:30hours on Saturday night.

He says Elizabeth was found dead yesterday morning after the cleaner went to knock but there was no response prompting them to break the window as the door was locked and the key missing.

In a related development a 51 year old man of Lusaka’s Mtendere compound has allegedly committed suicide in unclear circumstances.

Faxon Lukanga who used to stay alone was discovered hanging in his house on Saturday.
A neighbor, Luckson Mumba says Mr. Lukanga was well, but had only complained of lack of food the previous day he spoke to him.

  1. Poverty has grown out of proportion, people are even hanging themselves after complaining of no food. The KK Government was encouraging people to ‘Go Back to the Land’ and start farming, while KaChiluba told the people to stay in Town and start depending on the Houses he sold them at K10pin,have you seen how evil Chiluba is?.It was better that this guy wasnt born,he is a ‘Devil’. The same can be explained for the pregnant woman. We all know that a pregnant woman needs food to survive,so at five months and when she realised she had no food, she decided to go and try it out at Mayela Bar,we cant blame her,its the Government that has made life very difficult for ordinary Zambians while owners of the Copper mines are reaping billions of dollars from our minerals, while Mr Bwezani is sleeping!…

  2. Sad for these two poverty driven deaths. Poverty is killing millions in our country. what else would one think of than killing himself after going for days without food? What do you expect a pregnant woman to do in order to keep her pregnancy when she has no husband no job , no …..anything? PLEASE RB MUST GO 2011.:o:o

  3. bwafya. Pregnacy nobuchende. This is too much. These leaders ignore surfering but one day it will catch up with them

  4. MHSRIP. Please do not blame a victim of a suspicious death. The man in question must be brought to book, why did he dissapear ? is he responsible for the death? I mean if she died from pregnancy related complications the man could have helped her by calling an ambulance and who knows she may even have survived.
My point anyway is its hypocritical to start blaming this lady, because she appears to have been a sex worker. i can assure you there are many more like her, some of whom might even be your own relatives.

  5. Zambia is about the only place i the world where one can book a room in a hotel, lodge, motel, brothel with any form of identification being asked

  6. # 1, I hear when women are preggers balomfwa sana nani nani so maybe she wanted someone to Nyaula her!!

  7. prostitution is rampant. bars open daily. alcohol is the staple. zed music is playing. lodges built just next. sex with strangers. some in the last phase of AIDS. women of all ages, young and old, married and single. men of all maner of pursuation, from conductor to banker. njala ndiepake. elo lwanya pa zed.

  8. May the souls of the deceased rest in peace.

  9. Surprised that people find it strange that a guest house in Kalingalinga township booked in an unidentified client, what do you expect,Zambia is not as advanced as you think moreover i have also been to guest houses here in the U.K where i have simply paid cash, slept and left without anything being asked. It’s only at proper guest houses, hotels etc do they need your name when they book you in,a few hotels ask for ID for security purposes. The lodge in Kalingalinga is probably just a ‘slaughter house’ where people book in for a few hours only.

  10. MHSRIP, Police should find out who the husband of that girl- or who was responsible of her pregnancy.Let us not just condem her, we do not know the truth. This is not what zambia used to be, what is going on in zambia? I agree with # 6.
Let us wait and see how far the police will go-

  11. #17 Musukuma – That’s just the problem. This is a poor woman in Kalingalinga, Police will not spend time on any investigations. Unless it was Thandiwe Banda.

  12. its ok to nyyenga a pregnant woman so long as u dont push very hard. we dont want kids to come out like guni masaka. deuces:)>-

  13. All about Hotels, lodges nd Guest Houses, guest book should be signed pple should give details, thts wy we have reg card, if some one give force name then the reg card will tell everything, here in saudi arabia yu cant check in , in a hotel or what ever it is with a ladie, girl or woman without a family ID which shows that she’s or he’s yo husband or wife, without showing that partucular ID then yu be given a room at an hotel or guest house, if yu ve forgotten the card then man responsible should go to the police and Ideentify himself and he wil be given a letter from the police, that wil enable yu to occupy a room., may yo soul RIP Amen. 14. The reported Lodge does not meet the standards of a lodge. It is BROTHEL. Government should check monitor through the LCC on some these illegal places.

  15. Its is sad that Eliza had to die under such circumstances…one should not commit suicide becoz of food its very sad indeed….
One surprising thing is the lodge, how can they rent a room a person without identity?? Somehow the lodge is also responsible for the death of Eliza as they do have a proper policy to protect their clients.

  16. # 24 Zed napabipa most houses in ndola are brothels as they are not fit to be called lodges. Not to support colonial thinking but kanseshi was well designed, not ifima brothel, brothel mukati katauni.Nama community relaxing spaces {parks} ba politician balwakana.Naimwe ba gelo pa Zed muleikalako pa n’ganda.

  17. It does not make sense for a receptionist not to have the names of the unknown guest. I shud think this receptionist must be whack…..!:-?

  18. This is a shameful incidence. In our tradition a pregnant woman is not suppose to have sexual relations with another man other than the owner of the pregnancy. Similarly, a man is not suppose to have sexual relation with a woman with another man’s pregnance. There are concequencies that can be encountered by the affected person. Nangu ni apetite for sexual relations that is not how it should be!

Leaders at all levels let us educate one another, what is happening nowadays is un Zambian!
