Completion of Imusho border post to boost trade

Government says works on the construction of Imusho border post in Western province once completed will help to boost trade between Zambia and Angola.

Home Affairs Deputy Minister Richard Taima said the works, being funded by government, are on course and progressing well.

He said government has mobilized about K650 million and additional funds which have been allocated towards the construction of Imusho border post including other infrastructure.

Mr Taima was speaking in an interview with ZANIS in Lusaka.

He said Imuhso border has been operating without offices adding that officers only issue border passes once in a week owing to lack of office space and accommodation for the immigration officers.

The deputy minister added that once the border post is completed the movement of goods and services between the two counties will be enhanced for the benefit of the people in the two countries.

Meanwhile, Mr. Taima has disclosed that government has embarked on the construction and rehabilitation of staff houses and upgrading of existing border posts throughout the country.
