Govt has reached common ground with donors-Veep

Share

Vice President George Kunda says Government and the Cooperating Partners have reached a common understanding to observe diplomatic etiquette when dealing with each other. Mr Kunda told Parliament during the vice president’s question time that the recent pronouncements on donors relate to matters of diplomatic etiquette.

He said Zambia will continue to enjoy donor support because of Government’s commitment to prudent management of public resources. Mr Kunda further said that it is for this reason that the donor community continues to give government a lot of support in terms of aid.

He adds that government is fighting corruption, dedicated to tenets of democracy and pledged to continue upholding good governance. The Vice President described the relations between government and cooperating partners as very warm.

And Mr Kunda has revealed that government is revising the law on the fight against corruption. He says government is taking into account passed experiences such how certain cases have been prosecuted.

Mr Kunda was responding to a question by Katuba Member of Parliament Jonas Shakafuswa who wanted to know why section 87 of the Anti Corruption Commission Act which deals with abuse of office has been scrapped from the in the revised ACC Act which will be taken to Parliament.

  1. Obviously you’ve been read the riot act by the donors. If you had such warm relations with them, why were you rebuking them? Reading between the lines, this is not over. The references to past court cases is very telling.

  2. ha ha he doesn’t actually get it. he thinks donors give money “because of Government’s commitment to prudent management of public resources”. is he illiterate? donors give money because zambians are dying while government laughs, eats, and travels. that is the reason for donor aid

  3. Donors are giving money for the whole zambian not a selected few going for treatment in SA and just to come back and talk rubbish. The donors wants accountability of their money. Travelling around in the private jet cost a lot of the donor money and helping the people it was meant for. So Kunda do not think we zambians are fools and do not understand what the donors are talking about. What happened to Mwanawasa legancy, you Kunda was travelling up and down to London to have Chiluba prosecuted. Now you are rubbing shoulders with him and sharing/eating donor money, what a shame.

  4. so how does the current gov’t hope to with the abuse of office if they r scappin of the very act that deals with that, section 87 of the ACC act must stay! Think of the future elections r around the corner thats when the real public offic abuse starts

  5. Those comments are good enough for some one wise to think again, this blog is good enough to advise any one in govt

  6. This is the same chap who spewed out “zambia doesnt need the donors coz its been independent since ’64”. Why do these minions flip flop like fish out of water. What a disgrace, anyway its just a matter of 13 months.

  7. This f.u.c.k.e.r is simply acting on impulse! Just the other day he was busy supporting his boss, saying that Zambia does not need donor aid. Chicken George just because you can afford A.R.V’s and special treatment it doesn’t mean that all Zambians have the same privilege. Please don’t chase away the donors!

  8. People you havent seen the worst yet! MMD has bankrupt Zambia to a point of no return. RB started stealing even before the last elections because he was not sure if he was gonna win the election after the late LPM! Soon you will learn of how Mfuwe has been turned into a place to hide the loot! The VP cant be fired because he knows a lot! Katele brought himself trouble after he approached RB on the Mfuwe tunnels which those who belong to the “True Blue” within the MMD say the tunnels are built like a small underground city with rooms and a radio station more powerful to broadcast across the entire nation. I will disclose the exact location of this in my book as soon as I settle down in South Africa after the embassy staff recall from Washington.

  9. #8 MMD Chief Bootlicker-So your MMD was because of Embassy Job? And what about the Millions of us who are not appointed to Foreign service? Please down soon and be ready to be arrested You are fool. -Breach of Oarth of Secrecy in civil service. What true Blue. We have suppoted MMD from the start and we will continue. Shame on your fake bootlicking.

  10. From all the reported with regard to MMD MP Shakafuswa’s “Mr Kunda was responding to a question by Katuba Member of Parliament Jonas Shakafuswa who wanted to know why section 87 of the Anti Corruption Commission Act which deals with abuse of office has been scrapped from the in the revised ACC Act which will be taken to Parliament,” the whole lot of Vice-President Minister of Justice George Kunda has failed to answer the question promptly.

It is sad that such mis-leaders as Minister Kunda are in charge of the Zambian Affairs and Resources.

    Be blessed all.
