RB orders immediate releases of PF cadres

President Rupiah Banda introduces MMD Luena candidate Mwangala Maopu at the rally in Limulunga

PRESIDENT Banda has ordered police in Ndola to immediately release nine Patriotic Front (PF) supporters who allegedly blocked Vice-President George Kunda’s motorcade on Monday.

And Mr Banda has advised Zambians to be vigilant and to reject the spirit of hatred that is trying to permeate society.
Mr Banda said this in Ndola yesterday when he addressed a mammoth rally at the Chifubu Central grounds.

“I have decided to release them. Police will release them and give them their vehicles. I want those people released now, not tonight, I want police to take the necessary steps to release them,” Mr Banda said.

Mr Banda said he does not encourage thuggery but that he realizes that those who were arrested were just hired.
“I have asked the head of police here to release them,” Mr Banda said.
He said police had arrested 11 people who blocked the road but that two of the suspects ran away.

“But I thought of these young people, they are young people who have families and children to look after but because of our ambition as politicians, we go and hire their vehicles and they end up committing crimes against the State and the Vice-President,” Mr Banda said

Mr Banda said he was angry when he heard that suspected Patriotic Front (PF) cadres had blocked Mr Kunda’s motorcade and also damaged cars, including the beating up of MMD Chifubu parliamentary candidate Frank Ng’ambi’s daughter, Lukundo.

“I was angry. I am a human being and I wanted to take harsh action but I told myself that I don’t want to be the one to lead this country into problems,” Mr Banda said.
Mr Banda also said he made Darius Mukuka, the man who was convicted for insulting him, a better human after releasing him from prison.

“I am sure he felt bad, he wrote a letter to me that he was so grateful that I released him. He told me that he suffered in prison and his family also suffered. At least I achieved something, I made one bad human being become a good one, ,” Mr Banda said.

Mr Banda said some opposition leaders including Mapatizya member of Parliament Ackson Sejani have been insulting him like a child but that he has taken all the insults because he is head of State.

Mr Banda said PF president Michael Sata will never be President because he has failed on three attempts to ascend to power despite him enjoying support from people in some parts of the of the country.

“You can never be President unless you are meant to be” Mr Banda said.  And Mr Banda has advised Zambians to be vigilant and to reject the spirit of hatred that is trying to permeate society.

[pullquote]“I am saying this to Mr Sata and my son Hakainde, it[hate] will not take you anywhere,” Mr Banda said.[/pullquote]

“Our duty as Zambians is to be vigilant, to reject this evil spirit that is trying to permeate our society,” Mr Banda said

He said Zambians must not allow anybody to teach them to hate. The President wondered why grown ups like Mr Sata and his United Party for National Development (UPND) counterpart, Hakainde Hichilema hate him without reason.

“I am saying this to Mr Sata and my son Hakainde, it[hate] will not take you anywhere,” Mr Banda said.

He advised the people of Chifubu not to be misled that the opposition will develop their constituency because no one individual has money in his or her pocket to develop the area.
Mr Banda urged the people of Chifubu to vote for Mr Ng’ambi in today’s parliamentary by-elections because he is the most suitable candidate.

Meanwhile, more than 200 cadres from the PF-UPND pact yesterday defected from the two parties to the ruling MMD during a rally held at Chifubu ground.
President Banda welcomed the defectors and said their defection is proof that people have confidence in the MMD and its leadership.

Leading the PF defectors, former Chifubu constituency chairman, Ben Mwansa said the MMD is a focused party as opposed to the pact which is faced with various problems.
And UPND Chifubu ward chairman Pethius Chibanga said there is no need to waste time being the opposition political party.

He called on the people in Chifubu constituency to vote for Mr Ng’ambi as he is the only credible candidate to foster development in the area. And Copperbelt Minister Mwansa Mbulakulima said victory is certain in today’s polls.

Mr Mbulakulima said Mr Nga’mbi will provide the missing link for the people in the constituency.
And Chifubu constituency deputy campaign manager Joe Malanji said people should shun the opposition because there is nothing tangible they will offer to the people of Zambia.

  1. Victory is certain for MMD in today’s election. if we loose we petition, how can they block veep’s motor carde?? they are trying to block our voters too. Today marks the end of that dirty mouthed King Kobra of the Kaponyas

  2. He had no choice. Can he charge them with conduct likely to cause breach of peace when he never did nothing to his bothers, the MMD thugs who hijacked HH’s motorcade in Luena. Lucy Changwe is still free. William Banda was on TV yesterday threatening violence on Sata over the same motorcade thing. Rupiah is starting to count the number of his days when william Banda cant. The message from the people to all of these is that their days are numbered. If its chi William Banda he will even be deported!

  3. @ wapya munzi, its day time, wake up en get back to realities. That is only possible in Luena en not copperbelt. whether u rig or do whatever tricks, Chifubu is going back to the PF.

  4. We used to say Bola ni 90 minuts lets wait for the results, who pumped some sense in Alaa bee to talk about peace????? If he is for peace then good let not him just talk about it please put those words into practice

  5. When the President told the Rally that he was happy that nobody had shown him a red card in Ndola, I laughed, this is because three women and two male teenagers were at that time in Kansenshi police cells for having flashed the red card on the president along Kwacha Road. The police refused to release them because according to them the president only allowed those who were accused of blocking the VPs group. Coming to the later, our constitution only allows the republican president to use GRZ facilities on party duties. What this means is that those arrested were not going to be charged with any offence especially that the police were at fault. A dull lawyer can tear any charges to pieces. If it a campaign gimmick, let’s wait and see if it will pay off.As at 8hrs the REDS were still

  6. ““I have decided to release them. Police will release them and give them their vehicles. I want those people released now, not tonight, I want police to take the necessary steps to release them,” Mr Banda said.”

I am not happy with this at all. It is very dangerous to give the head of state so much power as to control the authorities. It is even more dangerous if a snake gets into state house. He will protect his criminal friends if given such power.

The police must be independent to execute their authority in accordance with the law and the constitution. They must not wait for orders from the head of state. It’ll be anarchy for the head of state to have such power should some impossible situation happen that Mr. Sata becomes president. This needs to be changed…

  7. # 9
I thought you were always pro AlaaBee, like what ever he says increases Zambia’s economical growth. On the last comment thats very true and it must be changed limit the powers of the President.

  8. “The President wondered why grown ups like Mr Sata and his United Party for National Development (UPND) counterpart, Hakainde Hichilema hate him without reason.

“I am saying this to Mr Sata and my son Hakainde, it[hate] will not take you anywhere,” Mr Banda said.”

Mr. Hichilema has the ability to change his behavior. Mr. Sata does not. Mr. Sata will never change. His behavior will always remain questionable, inconsistent and violent. Wasn’t he one of the people who was involved in a punch up between PF and MMD cadres during the ballot verification at Nakatindi hall some time back? Good luck if you think Mr. Sata will take such timely advice.

I will agree though, hate will not take you anywhere.

  9. thats leadership if someone slaps you on one cheek give him the other to do the same. RB you are showing your maturity and humbleness unlike bakabwalala who dont know the word sorry or forgiviness. everything to them is about PF and not humane. let us co-exist even in times of campaigns we all zambians whether in bondage eating Genetically modified turkey abroad or eating mugayuwa na tbone yaku zambeef at home

  10. “Mr Banda said PF president Michael Sata will never be President because he has failed on three attempts to ascend to power despite him enjoying support from people in some parts of the of the country.”

I totally agree. Mr. Sata will never ever be president of Zambia. He has been rejected 3 times by the ballot and is going for his 4th rejection. In 2016, he has no chance because 2016 will be generational change elections. PF would have disappeared into the political archives as “one of those parties”. PF will never rule this nation.

  11. Should read: I will agree though, hate will not take them anywhere. on comment #11

  12. It is sad that we have so many hooligans in our country. I am not an MMD supporter, but blocking the road is not the right way to go. It is better we fight using the ballot box. What has happened to politics that deal with real issues? Sad :(

  13. Yah – Forget about the Malawian accented William banda, and his threats. The last time I checked the ratio of MMD:PF/UPND supporters in Lusaka was 1000:1. He can be outnumbered at any time that we want to but is of no significance, and a waste of space. GK felt it in Ndola and so shall his boss fill it as well and very this this time in Lusaka.

  14. This is wisdom from Rupiah Banda. That is really politics now. Like this, I can change camps today and start supporting Rupiah Banda. I’m PF but PF is not different from MMD in terms of violence. But If RB starts this kind of politics. I tell you he will win a lot of educated people. Now he should also bring Chiluba to court for Karlington maize deal.

  15. Hmmmmm…………..Thats not like Alaa-Bee,i think this time around he listened to advise. If he continues in that path he might get one or two votes in 2011.Well done,i hope its not politics

  16. RB is an altruistic people’s democratic president unparallel to none in today’s political arena. As ever his magnanimous executive order to get helpless but abused PF cadres freed, RB is inculcating a spirit of tolerance, love, and functional democracy in the country. He is a statesman who looks at things beyond self and power politics. His is different from those consumed with incorrigible hatred, bitterness and shame of perennial rejection now chasing after a personality cult.

Bravo Your Excellency you have scored big again!

  17. Lies, incorrigible hatred, bitterness, envy, ignorance, unpatriotism, tribalism, xenophobia, lack of wisdom, illiteracy and anarchy are eating Sata to the bone faster than realized. Power and leadership comes from God. What God has blessed no man can put assunder to it.

  18. “I am sure he felt bad, he wrote a letter to me that he was so grateful that I released him. He told me that he suffered in prison and his family also suffered. At least I achieved something, I made one bad human being become a good one, ,” Mr Banda said

All these confirms how un-independent the justice system is in Zambia. This guy is running the country as if it is a totalitarian state.Too bad.

  19. # 21Senior Citizen- IWE MBULI MASAKA, did you hear the insults MMD heaped on SATA at their Chifubu rally. Even a nice looking girl like Cathrine Namugala joined in issuing unprintable insults. No issue were talked about, just insults by all present. Dont ask me how I know, it was live through out. So I dont know what makes MMD insults not insults in your opinion.

  20. Forgiving the 10 PF supporters is not the reason to go behind RB. His wrongs are too grievious: RP Capital with his sons linked, sale of Zamtel, the Philips contract negotiated and awared at State House (single sourcing involving so much money), the $53m loan fron China and the mobile clinics, theft of public funds and his response that he did’nt invite the donars when 50%of the budget is donar funded, his endless travels at the expence of development the list is long. Fact is that he is not presidential material and he did,nt win elections. Those who wanted to keep their jobs e.g Tetamalilo and others put him there him there but it won’t hapen again

  21. RB is the worst president this Country has ever seen. And this Country does’t deserve such a liability. The point is he was just brought from the farm and so he has no agenda for this Country. All he is doing is amasing wealth with his sons. What shocked me was to see him going on holiday to Mfuwe (after less that a month in office) with his grown sons and their children using our tax money. They are shameless and

  22. Along with the costs of leadership come many opportunities – some positive, some negative. Many leaders have access to information or financial resources that they could use to their personal advantage. Others have ample opportunity to compromise their advantage. Still others may be tempted to use their position to unethically crush the competition – whether internal or external. RB uses his executive powers to altruistically serve the people God has mandated him to lead.

  23. In life everyone has a price. If the price is right, anyone will do anything at any given time. There are some things that shouldn’t ever have a price – things like integrity, honesty, morality, our commitment to the country, God and to our family. These things are not a game. Every leader should periodically ask, “Do I have a price? What would it take for me to compromise?”

RB as a democratic people’s President understands these issues and he is on top of the good side as a statesman. This why he has united the country.

  24. So this Banda actually admits that he instructs the police on what do do. I am Mauless. God help us get rid of this mis-guided bid head. Alengiwe ki pula please.

  25. #21 Senior Citizen,

Yes power comes from GOD. You are very right, and God expect such annointed leaders to use power correctly. If you are not using it correctly he will withdraw it in broad-day light, no hiding. So RB has missused the power, that’s why God will allow us to boot him out of POWER. Starting today in broad-day light in Chifubu and Luena. Going by your analysis the MMD should respect our God Given power in Chifubu and Luena cause in both MMD losing.

  26. To all this I bring to the attention of Sata and Ichilema who share unfamiliar spirits of fighting that which God has raised as leadership for our country. Many of the great characters in the Bible struggled with major character flaws. Moses wrestled with his anger, Solomon with narcissism no different from Sata, Samson with his lack of self-control. For King Saul, it was insecurity. He was more concerned about gaining honor and prestige in the eyes of men than in pleasing God. It is this insecurity that causes Saul to rationalize his rebellion. Today we see these cursed with the spirit of narcissism and tribalism to the bone which God abhors.

  27. Pipo think I dont appreciate anything RB aka NyamaSoya doess, well it’s because I havent seen it yet UNTIL yesterday. He interfered in POLICE Duties in broad-day light (though he denies ever influencing them – big lie & contradiction). I THANK H.E for releasing the 9 PF cadres yesterday so that TODAY they Vote against MMD. Well done RB but you losing badly sthe way you have been badly brought UP.

  28. This is why the free democratic world attaches great value to education of leaders and pundits. You cannot be a relevant pundit if you are as daft pinhead as PF kaponyalism has proved itself here. You have to understand power politics and constitional law. What RB has done is enshrined in the republic constitution. Its called Prerogative of mercy.

  29. “What RB has done is enshrined in the republic constitution. Its called Prerogative of mercy. “

OK, that explains it. It has now become clear.

    Thanks SC.

  30. “The Prerogative of Mercy – empowers the President to grant to a convicted person, a state pardon either conditionally or otherwise, or grant a respite of the execution of punishment imposed, or substitute a less severe punishment.

I had no idea such a law existed in Zambia. This then rubbishes my post on #9. Therefore President Rupiah Banda must be congratulated on the action awarded to the violent, lawless PF cadres.

  31. Zambia is an executive Presidency democracy. The office of the presidency comes with derived and implied powers. Among these constitutional powers is “The Prerogative of Mercy” exercisable on convicted and any other lighter pending matters citizens may have committed. I challenge anyone here to cite from the constitution what article RB has crossed by his executive powers. PF for lack of love of those cab drivers wished them die helpless in detention.

  32. The Zambian Constitution empowers the President to grant to a convicted person or those facing light charges, a state pardon either conditionally or otherwise, or grant a respite of the execution of punishment imposed, or substitute a less severe punishment.
The President is advised on the exercise of this power by the Attorney General, solicitor General and sometimes the Commission on the Prerogative of Mercy. Membership of the Commission consists of the Attorney General as the Chairperson, and two members appointed by the President.

  33. #36 Senior Citizen,

You are right in you analysis.Very right, we cant even argue on this one. The Problem is RB refuses that he does instruct the POLICE. So he is a big liar. He has the powers and uses the powers legally and foolishlyin day light denies he ever uses them (instructing the police) based on those powers. aah, I’m tired.

  34. At least RB is showing bravity now and less insulting. Releasing the guys to go VOTE him and his party OUT today. That is heroism. I’m liking RB now.

  35. I am surprised people still read senior citizens comments. he clears does not read others because by now he would be sane. RB instructs the Police what to do but this time in broad day light. He claimed he never saw a red card in Ndola coz police had clear instructions.
If he genuinely wanted these people released why do it at a rally?

  36. I wonder why people even respond to imbeciles like senior citizen. There are very intelligent bloggers here on LT who make reading contributions worth while, but *****s like senior citizen with microphallus sometimes makes this website nauseating. I think his mother should have insisted more on using contraception.

  37. Banda is exibiting his old Munali Battering Mannerisms,Let him wait for his exit his family will never know peace.Ask Kachiluba who fears his shadow where ever he goes !

  38. Zambians…please u’re better than this! dont fall for this reverse psychology tactics mmd is trying to pull. we need change & we better get it. change is always a risk, but its a chance we’ll have to take if it means changing govt.

slowly we are moving towards a dictatorship kind of government, what more if mmd goes thru again, we’ll completely have no voice but we’ll do what we’re good at – ‘complain’! but we could avaid living in the ‘what if’ kind of situation by taking the risk of changing the govt. its up to us to do so coz frankly right now, i feel we shud jes go back to being colonised by the whites than have our own take advantage of us like mmd is doing.

be wise, think wisely, & act like-wise….

  39. Haha …shame to the police and RB. You knew that those guys had no case to answer. You never caught them in the very act of blocking the sickly Kunda. Haha these dull creatures are useless.

  40. Choma chief advises UPND/PF to part company

CHIEF Chikanta of the Tonga people of Kalomo District says the UPND-PF pact has failed to work.

The traditional leader advised the leaders of the two political parties to disband the alliance in the interest of serving their members.

Chief Chikanta who is also vice chaiperson for the house of chiefs
says the pact will not work because each of the two presidents wants
to ride on the back of the other to go to state house.

  41. The traditional leader was speaking in an interview with journalists
    in Choma today.

He said it is advised for both UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema and PF
leader Micheal Sata to part company and go separate ways in their
quest to go to state house.

“The pact will not work abd its better for them to separate,” he said.
He said the the divisions in the pact emanating from lack fo sincerity
from the two leaders have caused great embarassment and questioned the
    leaders of both political parties.

  42. Chief Chikanta said it better for the two leaders to separate now and
not not wait any further as living in deceit would be too dangerous
politicallly for both of them in view of the upcoming 2011
    presidential and general elections.

The traditional leader observed that it will be suicidal for both
leaders not to abandone the alliance because of the little time
remainign for them to organise their political parties for the 2011
    polls.

  43. Chief Chikanta said if Hakainde Hichilema was still interested in the
issue of the pact, it would be better for him to form an alliance with
    the ruling MMD.

He explained that this is because the MMD will not cheat him the way
PF leader Micheal Sata was tryign to deceive him in his attempts to go
to state house at all costs.

  44. “If HH feels he cannot face the elections alone, its better to go into
a pact with the MMD who will not cheat him the way Sata is doing,” he
    said.

He said Zambians have wathced with dismay at the way the UPND-PF pact has been destroying itself.

  45. The big question of Banda’s action is “Doesnt this prove that Police are a political weapon rather than a service to society?” Police are not supposed to get orders from the President. These kinds of actions are what make most African leaders start thinking they are the law. They own the police, they own the courts, they are above the law. In Democratic systems, the President’s intervention in a charge is allowed at the end of the legal process only. Thats when he is allowed to pardon a convicted person.. never before! The police are showing us that while the nation has moved from one party politics they are still living in the past. The police are showing us they are pawns of politicians.

  46. Maybe am ignorant in assuming this is presidential pardon because i cant imagine a president telling the police what to do. This is so wrong! This guy is really a blabber mouth! Some bloggers are saying he has started listening to advice but which normal person can advise him to say he instructed the police?? This statement simply means its a noral thing for the President of Zambia to instruct Police. Awe sure mwe.Thats why everyone wants to be in MMD you cant be arrested!

  47. its suprising to see Zambians still supporting MMD, when 65% percent of Zambians live in utter poverty, how do you support leadership such as this TO ALL OF YOU STILL SUPPORTING MMD SHAME ON YOU!!!! BUT IT IS OK WHEN PF WINS YOU WILL HOW DIFFERENT THINGS WILL BE!!!

  48. In the Chona, and Mwanakatwe Constitution of Zambia, the President of the Republic, may, acting in consultation with the Council of State, decide to exercise the Prerogative of Mercy or just grant amnesty to convicted people including those found in minor legal misconduct. This constitutional provision is a people submitted special gesture in the constitution which the president uses to grant people convicted or otherwise of various crimes on humanitarian grounds or for reconciliatory purposes where necessary. This gesture has a striking effect in fostering national harmony depending on the manner the president, can exercise this power.

  49. #13 mr capatalist for someone who sound so learned it seems your knowledge political history of the world is very poor!!! Abraham Lincoln failed numerous times but eventually got it right at the age of 51, PF/UPND will suceed and things will change for the Advantage of all Zambians, not just the ones who are related to Rupiah Banda, because you sound like someone who is related to him!!!!!!

  50. This constitutional provision is humanitarian gesture democracy need to have as seen dispensed indiscriminately. It appears the president granting of such form of amnesty goes beyond party lines. RB’s exercise of it has disarmed those who would intelligently insinuate that this gesture is a pacification deal meant to gain political mileage or safeguard the president’s future as a private citizen. It is purely humanitarian. I take this position because such gestures both serve humanitarian and reconciliatory purposes such presidential pardons are gradually becoming a “political ambulance” meant to save and satisfy national healing. In effect, the state and its people are the winners.

  51. What kind of nonsense is this? who does he think he id? a jesus christ huh? He is not above the law and should have allow the due process of the law to go on. Probably he realised there was no evidence to prosecute those innocent lives and decided to WITHDRAW the case.

  52. Why can`t this psycho let the police do it`s work ? Why should they always be at his Beck and call.

  53. #40 KCI – In actual fact 3 women and 2 boys were picked for red carding the president on Kwacha Road. As at 8.30am they were still in cells. I dont if they are out because my contact is out of coverage.

  54. Senior Citizen, Economist, Please read #50 clearly and you might learn something. What you are talking about is the use of presidential powers after the full judicial process has taken place. In this case and as far as I am aware, the people arrested were only arrested on SUSPICION of having commited a crime or offence. You can therefore not pardon someone who is merely suspected of having done something. This is where the argument of interfering with police work is levelled at H.E. RB. He might have made the order in good faith, but it was the wrong call.

  55. what nonsense “I have decided to release them”. Ayopa chabe he wants to be able to reach the helicopter…

  56. Let us waite and see what happens in Luena and Chifubu if MMD loses all the by election then that will mean that they are only popular in Eastern province because luapula and Northern are for SATA Permanently while North western , Western and Southern are for HH

  57. The President abused the Excutive powers by ordering the police to release the said men because those men were not yet convited.

  58. 3 women and 2 boys arrested. they deserve it. this is a result of championing causes that they do not really understand. we fail to send our children to school or even discipline them instead indoctrinate them with the notion that RB is the one to blame for our mess. there a better things that the women and children can do for thenmselves than to parade and flash red cards.

  59. Smart move by bwezi coz that’s a potential 20 votes. 6 from the drivers, 6 from their wives, 4 from their friends and 4 from girlfriends.

  60. #67. It’s cheap and inhuman to think that someone flashing a red card deserves to be detained. People need to fight for injustice without violence, which they did. It is the most mature way of protesting even in any developed world- use of placards, posters, card (green, red, black, etc) You are showing the same RB/ willam banda attitude.
Instructing the police shows how weak the police are. The other day he blamed police & they went full force to make arrests. The next day they are strongly instructed to release & they do just that. It makes sense to retire the police and let RB do it with a smaller police presidential unit from state house. Senior Citizens analysis is very weak and lacks objectivity and pragmatism. He thinks zambia is MMD,

  61. MR CAPITALIST- 3 E’s STEERING ECONOMIC Am really sorry for you and mr banda as you call him, its not him to decide of behalf of zambians who sholud or who should not be a leader in zambia nifwe fwena zambia….so i ask you to go and ask hime ifyo alelandapo.

  62. Hehe PF is leading in chifubu I am told. yes even before counting start people say they are all voting for PF. hehe MMD down even this time. How many elections have they lost so far? So many and what remains of them is to just run for their lives as the new regime comes in. Mulongoti has stolen a lot , he will be first to put in chimbokaila then RB and his children. These dull useless thieves.

  63. ‘Mr Banda said he does not encourage thuggery but that he realizes that those who were arrested were just hired’.

and he is going to release them just like that! pure political appeasement.
they were hired to do thuggery so they are thugs. charge them for what they did and help prevent this scourge. election violence will soon overtake us if these people go scot free.

  64. What politicians are able to sacrifice when they want your vote……… Even that which doesnt belong to them. It all sucks

  65. Those are UNIP old-fashioned tactics. This banda is so old fashioned that he goes to marry a girl same age as his granddaughter thinking that’d make him look hot! Atase, who does he think he can hoodwink? How long did it take him to instruct chalwe to instruct kabonde to arrest criminal musonda, or that muzungu murderer who is still roaming the streets like a rabied dog! M.w.a.nya mwadya mweka donkies is losing in Luena and Chifubu – PABWATOOOOO!!!!

  66. I still read Senior Citizen’s contributions so let him continue. If anything his comments are much better than these uncivilised PF kaponyas who criticise him. If you don’t want to read him skip or shut your blood shot eyes. For us with clear eyes, we read and decipher sense from nonsense, that is the mark of an intelligent person. Even books (if you kaponyas have ever bought, let alone read one) we choose what we want to read and when we read we choose sense from nonsense.

  67. We wait the results patiently. Latest, in five polling stations counted so far MMD is leading. We hope that will not make a trend.

  68. # 76,

I’m another ardent reader of all Senior Citizen’s steadfast blog entries. He is among the very few bloggers here who brings out academic, practical political experience and intellectual punditry on the blog which is all missing from the anti MMD Trojan horses. No one has intellectually challenged him on issues he raises other than insulting which by itself is defeat of intellectual ability. I’m yet to see a single post from the anti MMD Trojan horse with intellectual rigor.A lot more friends who don’t blog tell me they visit LT for news headlines and Senior Citizen’s commentaries. You cannot afford to stay on the path of dispensing insults only as an opposition party rustling for ballot given power when pitched with the incumbent in the game.PF need smartactivists to par MMD.

  69. THIS IS FOR VETERAN, SENIOR CITIZEN, MWATA, MR CAPITALIST
It is unconstitutional because the President under the Constitution can only pardon a person who has been convicted and not a person who is just suspected of having committed an offence,” Kabimba said.
“It is usurpation of the DPP’s powers because only the DPP under the Constitution is vested with power to grant a fiat for the prosecution of a suspect for an offence committed or the release of such a suspect where there is no evidence to warrant any prosecution.”

  70. THIS IS FOR VETERAN, SENIOR CITIZEN, MWATA, MR CAPITALIST

  71. am afraid, not that i like MMD but because of the fear i have in Sata and his followers. sata is one kind of the man, who can even kill with the current presidential powers. RB abuses his powers by forgiving, Sata will abuse them by killing, actually he is worse than Idi amin unless he has changed.

  72. What Senior Citizen doesnt realise is that by misusing his powers, Banda has bought the hearts of uncynical Zambians like him. Like many who will view this action as a plus for Banda, Senior Citizen has therefore been taken for a ride. He has been duped by someone who pretended he has certain powers yet he doesnt. Most African leaders intimidate opponents and voters and more importantly the police, by flexing muscles that they dont constitutionally have. In a democracy the police chief should be objecting to such actions because they are unlawful!
