Rupiah’s fatherly gesture on ‘rowdy ‘PF cadres hailed

Share

National Revolutionary Party President Dr Cosmo Mumba has saluted President Rupiah Banda for pardoning 10 Patriotic Front members who blocked Vice President George Kunda’s motorcade in Ndola on Sunday this week.

And Dr Mumba has also hailed President Banda for preaching peace during the just ended Chifubu and Luena parliamentary by – elections campaigns.

Speaking to ZANIS in an interview in Lusaka today, Dr Mumba said tribute should be given to President Banda for his humility to pardon some PF members saying the stance shows that Mr. Banda is a true leader who deserves to be commended.

The opposition leader also lamented that the President should be praised for preaching peace during the Chifubu and Luena parliamentary by elections campaigns adding that the gesture is welcome as it shows that the Mr. Banda has no hatred to any one including those from the opposition.

He said violence should be condemned in the strongest terms by all Zambians saying the people of the two constituencies should also be praised for the manner they conducted themselves during the campaigns.

He said this was good for the Zambia’s growing democracy and has since called on all political parties in the country to emulate the Chifubu and Luena residents in future elections.

Meanwhile Dr Mumba has called on Police at Kanyama Police Post to investigate and arrest some bandits who attacked and robbed National Revolutionary Party vice Chairman Chris Phiri last night.

Dr Mumba told ZANIS that unknown people last night broke into the house of Mr Phiri and injured the latter’s wife, niece before stealing goods worth millions of kwacha.

He has since called on police in Kanyama to intensify foot night patrols so that the lives of the residents in the area are protected.

  1. This is not a fatherly gesture by RB, but an attempt to get political milage over PF. It has saddly backfired as PF retains Chifubu.

  2. I would say RB’s action is lawlessness. If those people were arrested justly and according to just law, then there should have been due process of the law. RB’s role should have kicked in after the process of law had been completed.
In the event, all thinking people will suspect RB’s action is simply a political gimmick, aimed at earning votes from the gullible.

  3. I guess we all shall look back some day & read between the lines & perhaps conclude that the learned academicians have gone to the dogs!

  4. No. 2 Fxct – what’s wrong with Kanyama? Where do you live yourself? Is it rented or your own house? Better to live in own house in Kanyama than rent in Kabulonga!

  5. #5 please not that #2 and I are not politicians vying for public office and anyone vying for serious public office, should be financially sound.

  6. You still address Cosmo as Dr Mumba? Where did he get his PHD? The guy failed at UCZ theological college in 2004 and the next year we heard that he owns a doctoral degree from Congo DRC. What a shame. This guy must have got his doctoral from Matero University.

  7. #2 #5 #7 Naine nadabwa ba vice chairman kwakanyama sure. Tizamvela ati secretary stays ku Ng’mbe

  8. Love or hate it, RB is an altruistic people’s democratic president unparallel to none in today’s political arena. As ever his magnanimous executive order to get helpless but abused PF cadres freed, RB is inculcating a spirit of tolerance, love, and functional democracy in the country. He is a statesman who looks at things beyond self and power politics. His is different from those consumed with incorrigible hatred, bitterness and shame of perennial rejection now chasing after a personality cult.

Bravo Your Excellency you have scored big again!

  9. Breaking news!!!!!!!!!!! PF in Trouble in Chifubu!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Some results being counted so far indicate that trend though of course its too early.
Please don t insult me but if you have any contact in Chifubu call them now to proove this

  10. Latest!! Votes counted so far indicate ADD commands a massive lead in Luena. In Chifubu, PF is pulling away with an ernomous landslide. MMD lelo…..!

  11. # 15,,

Seemingly you are one of the few self misplaced zealots with no time for other things but dreams haaah!

Ballots just closed at 6:00pm and now its just 9:53pm Thursday in Zambia. You mean there is already an aggregating counting going on from the all ward compilation? I would say your imagined speed beats even the USA electronic system. Good luck though!

  12. STOP WASTING SPACE BY PRINTING NONSENSE FROM THE SO CALLED DR MUMBA.HE IS AN EMBARRASMENT.MAYBE WE SHOULD FORGIVE HIM,BECAUSE HE HAS TO EARN HIS LIVING.BUT HE IS ONE OF THOSE WHO HAVE DOWNGRADED ZAMBIAN POLITICS TOGETHER WITH SENIOR CITIZE,THE SAINT.POOR FELLOWS WHAT WILL BECOME OF THEM WHEN POWER CHANGES HANDS

  13. # 16 Ba Chekwe trully this shows that you are so detached from the reality. Shame on you!!!!
Ballot papers are counted at the polling station and by that time PF was leading in all polling stations which were counted so far. Therefore # 15 is not a misplaced zealot.

  14. This was a big mistake by the President. He should have let the due process of law proceed unperturbed. This will be seen as interference and not mercy by his enemies.

  15. 10 Senior Citizen- What is you answer to this? Chekwe?
“It is unconstitutional because the President under the Constitution can only pardon a person who has been convicted and not a person who is just suspected of having committed an offence,” abimba said.
“It is usurpation of the DPP’s powers because only the DPP under the Constitution is vested with power to grant a fiat for the prosecution of a suspect for an offence committed or the release of such a suspect where there is no evidence to warrant any prosecution.”
Kabimba said it was clear that President Banda was using the release of the suspected PF cadres as a political tramp card to woo voters in the Chifubu parliamentary by-election.
THERE WAS NOTHING FATHERLY, BUT JUST AN ELECTION GIMMICK WHICH GAINED YOU 10 VOTES…

  16. is there a problem with kanyama? you cannot judge anyone on the basis of his enviroment, the problem is only in your mind that it can sink that low….Jesus was born in a manger…….

  17. number 2 FXCT and 6 WAPYA MUNZI you are such bloody sucking !diots! whats wrong staying in kanyama and vying for leadership positions? there are people with money in these townships than
the so called ”mayadi” who just live by status while hungry.are you telling only those living in good
residential areas are the only intelligent and rich? check your empty chicken
brains before you make f 00lish coments and display you stu.pid minds publicly.
