“MMD is still the only party that is democratic and the only party people want to continue ruling this country. Mrs. Chilufya you have brought pride to the party and therefore we congratulate you for your victory,’ He said.

Earlier, Provincial MMD chairperson Boyd Mutonka said the victory was just one of the many more coming and urged party members not to wait until there is an election but to start all the preparations now.

  1. There is a ,message in the air..Not all is well for the MMD… am just disappointed that theres serious apathy in this bye-elections..if half of those registered voters had voted the picture could be different.Time for MMD to wake-up though its too late and for the PACT to be more united.

  2. Kariba is in Southern Province,Mubiana Lubinda is certainly Lozi.some imbiciles are claiming UPND is tribal.UPND 875 MMD 467,can some senior something atleast admit that their party needs to get rid of John walker

  3. I doubt the authenticity of these results. The difference is too minmal. The people of zambia have no tibal inclinations in them let alone the party presidents purpoting to. However, all said and done well done PACT.

  4. MMD IS STILL POPULAR. JUST CLOSELY ANALYZE THE RESULTS. IF MMD IS COMING SECOND IN ALL THESE ELECTIONS, THEN RB HAS A BIGGER CHANCE OF WINNING THE 2011 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS.

  5. On “Mr. Mubiana [Lubinda, a Lozi] got a total of 875 votes beating MMD candidate Alfred Simakole [a Tonga] who managed a total of 467 votes… eight votes were rejected by the presiding officer” and 3 Wanzelu‘s “some imbiciles are claiming UPND is tribal.UPND 875 MMD 467,can some senior something atleast admit that their party needs to get rid of John walker ” it is very clear that the mighty UPND is not tribal and also that the people of Southern Province only vote wisely for quality.

For those who doubt check the Livingstone 2006 election results where SIKOTA Sakwiba, a Lozi, ULP got 16,090 votes to elected MP while MUHYILA Mutinta, a Tonga, UPND, FDD, UNIP (UDA) only manged 11,291 votes but HH got best presidential elections votes of 15,198.

  6. The math involved in this article is not adding up well. Why did they only count about 600 votes out of the 3700 votes cast, and they went on to declare a winner.
