Former UNIP Member of Central Committee, Frank Musonda says President Rupiah Banda is set to be re-elected next year, because he has economic and political skills required of a leader in the 21st Century.
Mr Musonda said President Banda managed to sustain economic growth in spite of the Global economic recession.
He said this in a statement to ZNBC in Lusaka Tuesday.
Mr Musonda has cautioned Zambians against championing calls for political change without understanding the implications on the economy and national stability.
He observed that Zambians have freely enjoyed all basic human rights since President Banda assumed the presidency in the year 2008.
Mr Musonda praised the government for supporting the on-going constitutional reforms.

Iwe Musonda, go to sleep. SATA is the right man.
Ba Musonda, you can say so because you both UNIP. Not every one thinks like you Mr Musonda, some people are for HH, Sata, Chipimo, Mangande, Miyanda, even Father Bwalya, so will see what 2011.
even RB himself knows that this man is looking for employment
Why want waste my time and energy dibating on this old timer who has ran out of cash. He wants a cut from ba RB
sorry I made a mistake. I wanted to say Iwe Musonda, go to sleep. HH is the right man.
Every UNIP coackroach is now crawling out of the woodwork. Only the other day i was shocked to learn that one UNIP relic is a board chairman. Mwaona manje.
Back-to-back and border-to-border it’s a clear landslide mandate for RB and the ruling MMD at hand in decision 2011.So far the alignment, strategy, goodwill, logistics and machinery support is fathoming to say the least. Its rumble in the jungle where the faint-hearted may have to snap-off helplessly in the frontier of their vanity if not instantaneously check-out God forbid. Sadly, no evacuation ambulance this time around.
Independent Churches of Zambia president David Masupa said President Banda stands a better chance of scooping next year’s general elections because of the policies that his government has put in place.
“President Banda has one more term legally, and so far, from the two years that he has been in office, he has performed very well. It is clear from the projects he has embarked on that his government is working. These projects can tell volumes that if he is given another mandate of five years, he will do wonders. It’s possible to judge one’s ability in a short period,” he said.
Rev Masupa said President Banda’s appeal for Zambians to give him another mandate is genuine.
“Zambians should see that this is a genuine appeal, and as a church, we want to also appeal on his behalf to Zambians to give him another mandate,” he said.
“We have seen how his government has performed in the areas of infrastructure development, roads and schools in a very short period,” he said.
Rev Masupa urged people not to trust opposition political party leaders who have no experience.
“Most of these leaders of political parties have not been presidents before and they cannot claim that they have done anything for this country. I believe that President Banda stands a better chance of scooping the general elections next year,” he said.
Dr.Kenneth David Kaunda founding father of Zambia
Last week, former President Kenneth Kaunda praised President Banda and his government for implementing various development projects across the country.
Dr Kaunda said the projects being implemented by Government such as construction of schools, hospitals, and roads are commendable. Dr.Kaunda further implored President Banda to ignore all noise makers and stay focused with his ideal leadership the country deserves.
And former President Frederick Chiluba says there is no single district in the country which can complain of not enjoying the benefits of development projects under President Banda’s administration.
Dr Chiluba said there is not a single district in Zambia which can say no development project is taking place in that area because everyone is there to bear witness to that fact.
HH Too Late , Say Luapula Chiefs
CHIEFS in Luapula Province have said it is too late for United Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema to cling to the Pact with Patriotic Front (PF).
The traditional leaders have said the opposition leader should have listened to advice from his Namwala Member of Parliament (MP) Robbie Chizhyuka who was against the UPND entering into the pact with the PF.
Luapula Royal Foundation spokesperson, Chief Chisunka said from Mansa yesterday that Mr Hichilema should leave the pact because it was causing more damage to his political career than he realised.
He said Mr Hichilema risked ruining his political career if he continued to cling on to the pact with the PF whose leader had clearly showed his lack of consideration and respect for the UPND president.
Chief Chisunka said it would be wise for Mr Hichilema and his party to even consider entering into an agreement with the ruling MMD like the case was with former Republican vice-president, Nevers Mumba.
He said the MMD was the strongest party in the country and ruled out the opposition winning next year’s elections.
The chief said the people in the rural areas had seen that the pact between the two opposition political parties was not workable and had resorted to supporting the ruling MMD.
President Banda Impresses UN Leadership Guru
United Nations (UN) chairperson for strategic leadership John Adair has said he is impressed with President Rupiah Banda’s exhibition of good leadership skills and handling of national affairs.
Professor Adair, who is in the country for a four days visit, said he would this week present two motivational books on strategic leadership to President Banda.
Prof Adair is the world’s first professor of leadership studies. He is one of the world’s leading authorities on leadership development and established the first leadership chair.
He is referred to as the father of world leadership. Many managers worldwide have taken part in his action-centred leadership programmes he pioneered.
In an interview in Lusaka yesterday, Prof Adair said, he was impressed with President Banda for his continued exhibition of good leadership skills and handling of national affairs.
He said the presentation of books to Mr Banda was a way of recognising his efforts of stirring good leadership skills to drive the country’s affairs forward.
Prof Adair said the motivational books would help President Banda in his management of national affairs as the father of the nation.”I have come to Zambia to share skills on strategic leadership and I will award President Banda with motivational books on strategic leadership for his continued management of affairs of this good country,” he said.
Prof Adair is on a four-day visit to conduct a series of motivation talks on strategic leadership with several managers and the corporate world on improving leadership skills.
He has written more than 40 books, translated into many languages. Recent titles include How to Grow Leaders and Effective Leadership Development. Apart from being an author, he is also a teacher and consultant.
Prof Adair is being hosted by the Southern African…
Prof Adair is being hosted by the Southern African Management Institute and would also conduct motivational talks to the University of Zambia students.
Pact Gags Members but immediately democrats such as MP Regina Musokotwane and party steward Hapunda denounces Sata’s unreasonable nature and his subnormal misfitting candidacy for plot one.
‘Rupiah Banda’ and ’21st century’, I never thought someone would ever put these two phrases together!
#13 Mwata you are in the USA and you don’t know what is obtaining on the ground. Just came from Luapula and the scenario is different from your propaganda. Continue living in a f.o.o.l.s Paradise and you will one day work up to a rude shock and never come back to Zambia. You will continue backing like a d.og in the foreign land. fide,
What pact are you dreaming about when the Sata-Hichilema pact of convenience that never was but fictitiously postulated is already a wreckage of doom? You are free to think otherwise. Just because your village is deluded, unpatriotic and ready to waste their votes on a vanity chase you think so is the entire national constituency. And what has your private trip got to do with other Zambians who do so without announcing?

I always wonder why people have to write the all entire history about Zambia on LT. Do you guys have friends to discuss these issues with? Are you so lonely that every time you have to vent out the stress of loneliness on LT? Please, we have other things to do and you should not use LT as part of your family gathering. Be brief and to the point. Wasabailako ifi, then you move to another topic, like a headless chicken, come on, get a life. Find a club, get a girl friend or probably if you cannot, do some voluntary work at some school, hospital, read a book or go watch a movie. Life is too short to spend reading your 5 page rants on LT like the world revolves on you and your RB. If we have not agreed with you on RB before, what makes you think we will change our minds now? It is over.

No. 7 to 20 is not in Uk or USA, he is a local employed by RB through FTJ to be the greatest paddler of
the propaganda that this government is thriving on. The kind of the so called MWATA are self serving and insensitive people. He drives BMWs handed down to him by this countrys’ greatest thief! Stop it you hypocrite and speak the truth. I do not belong to any political party, but for sure Zambians are suffering. Electricity tarrifs, water tarrifs, mealie meal prices, fuel and meat or chicken have sky rocketed during Rb’s office tenure. The mines are paying meagre taxes when the price for copper at LME is high and this so called ‘mwata’ thinks we will vote for RB? Zamtel has been sold against our wish, RB is a tourist president, the list is endless. Wake up your days of reconing are…
If you think that RB is a good leader then I am truly sorry for you all. No wonder Zambia is in the state that it is in. 60% unemployment, 80% living below the poverty line and the list of his great achievements goes on and on. I supposed that 5 more years of RB and his band of Crooks and we will sure to improve those numbers… to 80% unemployment and 99.99999% living below the poverty line. The only ones living above the poverty line will be RB and his Band of Crooks.
Besides everyone is behaving as if they are not aware that RB is reaping the economic benefits of policies put in place prior to 2008 by MAGANDE and LPM.
Shame on you all bootlickers!
A good leader doesn’t only lift up himself and his friends, a good leader lift up his or her country as a whole… so the real questions therefore are… are the lives of Zambians better off than they were under MAGANDE and LPM? And where is the ZMK trading today as opposed to the level it was during the reign of MAGANDE and LPM? And if you are all honest in answering the above questions you will begin to see the real picture.
I supposed African and especially Zambians has become use to mediocrity in every sector of their lives and thinking that RB, who is advocating violence against his detractors, is a good leader is one more piece of evidence that the Continent will always languish while the rest of the world flourish.
A prosperous Nation begins with choosing leaders with conscience that are not corrupt; leaders with good track record and competence in managing the state’s affair bother domestically and internationally, one who has the respect of the more developed nations and that man is Magande. ACP Secretary General, and the Minister of Finance that crafted LPM policies that the country is still benefiting from today. MAGANDE 2011
Lady GaGa @40: keep your hallucination, ati viva RB, atase! Wait for the year of election, then we shall see who laughs – without rigging, there’d have been no MMD in 2001 we all know that.
His Excellency RB is taking the country forward. I would be more happy if he could revamp the local train that used to go from Chilenje south to Matero.
Ba Musonda, this is not ZIT union nor COBUSU elections. If you want a piece of cake from your grandfather RB just go to plot 1. Do not mislead people ala! Tabwaleke nanomba iwe, with all those unnecessary Campus closers at CBU! Ulekwatako insoni! Please Zambians vote for the right man next year!
