DEC wont investigate Chiluba

The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC ) says it will not investigate Former President Dr. Frederick CHILUBA’s money laundering activities because it would contravene the laws of Zambia.

DEC Public Relations Manager John Nyawali said article 18 of the constitution of Zambia does not allow prosecuting an individual for an act which did not constitute an offence at the time it was alleged to have been committed.

Mr Nyawali in a statement to ZNBC in Lusaka Wednesday said Dr CHILUBA allegedly committed money laundering activities before the Prohibition and Prevention of money laundering law was enacted.

His remarks follows a letter written by the Patriotic Front (PF) demanding that the DEC investigate Dr. Chiluba’s money laundering activities.

Mr. Nyawali also said some of the alleged activities which constitute offences for money laundering were investigated and prosecuted by the then Task Force on Corruption for which Dr. Chilubawas acquitted.

  1. I get a headache every time I hear Chiluba’s name. Do us a favor PF and others stop bringing up this man’s name he is a burden to our hearts and God wants us to forgive. How can we do that if you keep on bringing chiluba’s no good stealing presence to our minds. Let the law take it’s course in the future when Banda is gone.

  2. Strange!!! No comments from enraged Anti-Chiluba or those who have Chilubactomy. Guys, Zambia is ours and lets us move forward with a vision for our county, how about thinking about prosperity than insults. Contribute in your own small way to better our country, at the end of the day, we are all Zambians and let us love one another.

  3. Constitution of zambia should be revisted, if the article 18 states that, then the DEC have no reasons to investigate in any case, coz the word investigate means, ‘finding out’ which at present you did not realize it.. Ba DEC don’t bring politics here, just do you job and send some workers to go and study, Logic and the meaning of investigation.

  4. How about charging this pygmy with abuse of office like all his Defence Chiefs have been jailed for (except Shikapwasha for which only God knows how). Charge him for adultery and ex-communicate him. Or charge him for having illicit sex with someone’s wife. Charge him, charge him, charge him. Charge him for at least some thing……Ok at least kanshi ex-communicate him….

  5. I cry for Zambia to think that the next Attorney General or Justice Minister may be Wynter Kabimba. It will be winter in Zambia when a man who has not the slightest understanding of law is elevated to these offices. Kabimba’s law is worse than the younger graduate Membe.

  6. The crime was committed in England.
I do hope Chiluba does not have any personal bank accounts still open in any commonwealth countries.

Could this be the reason that now he has a golden passport why does he not leave Africa?

    heh hehe ehehehe

  7. plz my felow contry men n women,,lets unite and bring back our contry’s economy to maxmum
