Mpombo castigated

Share

The MMD has castigated its Kafulafuta Member of Parliament George Mpombo for criticising President Rupiah Banda over his international trips.

MMD National Chairman Michael Mabenga says Mr. Mpompo as a former Defence Minister ought to understand and appreciate the functions and duties of the Head of State.

Mr. Mabenga who is also Lands Deputy Minister said President BANDA who assumed office in 2008 has a mammoth task to fulfill the promises Late President Mwanawasa made before next year’s tripartite elections.

Speaking to journalists in Lusaka Friday, Mr. Mabenga said President Banda’s international trips have yielded a lot of economic benefits for the country.

And Mr. Mabenga said it is disappointing to hear people saying that the MMD leadership is celebrating the gains which were started by late President Mwanawasa.

He explained that there should be no comparisons between President Banda and the late President because there are all indebted to the MMD manifesto.

  1. These fake leaders are the ones perpertuiting poverty, hopelessness in the eyes of many zambians cos 4 them there is no COST-BENEFIT principle and tat ka Khoikhoi saan Chiluba is the causer of this selfishness, bootlicking, irresponsibility among government leaders.I HATE IT HONESTLY.I regret I the day I obtained an NRC.

  2. So easy to just specialize in castigating others. We need leaders who advance ideas, not just reactions all the time. I don’t remember ever hearing this guy articulate policies or ideas to advance lands agenda in Zambia. Does he even remember that he is also a deputy minister?

  3. The easiest way of justifying anything involving money is by way of figures! When people complain about trips they are not doing it out of malice. When the President is travelling a lot of man hours are lost i.e Police blocking roads, Ministers , other Government officials not forgeting the Media parading at the airport, allowances for the Entourage ,the support staff, security etc by the time the President is getting on the Plane the bill is already in billions and that is the concern we have! A complete cost- benefit analysis will help in away ! The President need to travel from time to time but at cost?

  4. MR MPOMBO I THOUGTH MR BANDA IS USING THE MONEY YOU APPROVED IN LAST YEARS BUDGET.START COMPLAINING AFTER AN OVERRUN IN THE PRESIDENTS BUDGET OR WHEN HE ASKS FOR EXTRA MONIES FOR HIS TRIPS. FOR NOW PLEASE GIVE US A BREAK.WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF YOUR R.A.N.T.S.

  5. What do you expect a hopeless thief and job seeker like Mabenga to say? No sentence passes without him saying the President has brought a lot benefits – he means benefits in his impoverished perach. Kil sholi fella Mabenga!!

  6. “Mr. Mabenga who is also Lands Deputy Minister said President BANDA who assumed office in 2008 has a mammoth task to fulfill the promises Late President Mwanawasa made before next year’s tripartite elections.”
Wow ! its been only 2 yrs !. Yet Zambia has recorded growth. Some of these RB haters sound like you have been there for 10 yrs without growth. Astounding.
Leave the tribal supremisists insulting and revolving the high court doors, sensible zambians of all tribes can see you are dooing a good job.

  7. Whether these trips have positive results or not, it is time that President Banda toned down on them. It is clear that the MMD government has lost the publicity battle over this issue and no one is now listening. If the MMD want to remain in power beyond 2011, then they better start listening to these voices that are calling for curtailing these trips. The President and his government now have less than a year in which to work, and ‘learning a lot of things from the Brazilians’ at this time may not be of benefit to the Zambian people. It may be too little, too late! If there is no money to carry out a referendum on the MOST IMPORTANT issues in the country, there can be no money for these trips.

  8. What are the benefits the trips have yielded? Tell us.. instead of just shouting “benefits” in the hope that the recipient of the message will make them out.Thats politics for ignorants.

  9. You can even tell by the looks of someone that nothing tangeble will come out of his mouth.
    Keep on dreaming……………..ba kapususu.
