Cholera victims

The Ministry of Health has recorded as of December 31 2010, 14 cholera cases country wide.

Ministry Health Spokesperson Dr. Kamoto Mbewe said three cases were recorded in Lusaka, one in Southern Province, 8 in Northern Province and two on the Copperbelt.

Dr. Mbewe said no deaths have been recorded except one case of a patient who was bought in dead.

The spokesperson confirmed the development in a telephone interview with ZANIS in Lusaka today.

Dr. Mbewe attributed poor hygiene standards to increased cholera cases in the country.

He pointed out that Government through the ministry was giving out chlorine and conducting sensitisation to mitigate cholera incidents in the country.

And Dr Mbewe disclosed that the Ministry of Health had enough medical supplies to contain possible outbreaks of the disease in other areas.

He advised people to maintain high standards of hygiene to curb cholera.

  1. Cholera is caused by not taking a shower, being clean. In europe here we learn that, why cant people learn in zambia? Get well and be clean , I take 4 showers a day just to stay clean and smell nice

  2. # 2 I can’t agree more with you . This Mushota is very shallow and narrow minded, that is the problem if you find yourself abroad by fluke.

At least try to understand some of the choices these people have before you jump to uploading your cleanness lecture into their throats. How many people know the causes of obesity, heart disease and cancer and still getting these diseases.

  3. Our school of healthy sciences discovered long time ago that the town and city councils are partly to blame for the cholera outbreak in our country. chorela should have been a thing of the past if our cities were clean, had good water drainage. Water companies too are to blame because they sometimes supply us with stinking water in certain parts of the country. individuals too are to blame for damping rubbish everywhere which makes things worse during the rain season. street vendors of food items are to blame too. those who buy on the streets are to blame too.

  4. Mushota finally found water in the UK hence she showers four times a day to keep clean and smell nice.Of course if you are a commercial sex worker you need to shower very often and smell good before you meet your clients.

I can collapse to just imagine how smelly she was before someone smuggled her to europe.
