Wrangles rock pact — HH

United Party for National Development (UPND) leader Hakainde Hichilema has said the PF/UPND pact is currently experiencing some political squabbles because the two parties cannot agree on one aspect of how it will drive the country’s economy forward.

Mr Hichilema said the pact was formed to reduce fragmentation among opposition parties and initiated some policies that needed to be followed and agreed before announcing its leader but that its partners the PF seemed to have ignored what was agreed and wanted to just go ahead and announce the pact president.

Mr Hichilema said this in Lusaka yesterday in response to many questions from people when he officiated at the Zambia Media Forum at Chita Lodge.

Meanwhile, PF leader Michael Sata has said former President Frederick Chiluba was part of the eight member committee who in 1993 recommended that the Barotse Agreement had expired.

At a rally at Muchinga grounds in Matero, Lusaka yesterday, Mr Sata who spoke in Bemba said Government should reveal everything that was said in the committee and not selectively release information.

He accused the State of having arrested him on tramped-up charges of motor vehicle theft and that Government were also trying to make a case out of the US$100, 000 which he said he had been accused of giving Father Frank Bwalya.

Mr Sata also accused Matero Member of Parliament Faustina Sinyangwe of pocketing some money .

Former MMD official Judith Kapijimpanga resigned from the ruling party to join the PF.

  15. Now this issue of killing the PACT is NOT right. Yes the PACT had the whole year (2010) to iron out their differences. Now we are in 2011 and an election year. But up to date PF/UPND not yet ironed OUT the economic agenda??? That was supposed to be the 1st one then the others could have fallen into place. I have said it before and saying it again, the PACT is the only hope. MMD is not the altenative as they are tired and should be gotten ride of. But replaced by who???? Thats the question. The PACT should survive Mwebantu. HH & Sata please agree the way forward.

Whatever these people do as a pact or as individual parties will be to the advantage of the MMD.It is just sad for the UPND because after their unfruitful marriage with PF they disengage emerging the most foolish,the weakest and without real base. Shame to HH for being bereft of vision.He has created his way out of politics.Sakwiba Sikota could have done much better for UPND. Why has Mwanajiti left them? He sat down and analysed and realised that there was no seriousness in the way Hakasata handled their politics.

    THE REST OF THE MINISTRIES===FOR THE LOTTERY

    Then no need for ERECTIONS THIS YEAR and the money “SAVED” will go a WRONG WAY in developmental efforts such as:
    1.Allocating more fuel for the Presidential Challenger especially for local trips to enable the President tour projects
    2.Build more Morturies
    3.Buy more equipment for the Zambia Police to help maintain law and order especially in Western Province.

    In this way, Zambia will be guaranteed unprecedented development!!

It is an established fact that neither UPND nor PF has the muscle to unseat the MMD as individual parties. They need each other and they are the only hope there is for we the poor Zambians. I honestly think that Sata is not the right person at the helm of Zambia because he possesses characteristics of becoming wild when untamed.     Back to the topic, the PACT should shortly announce the shadow cabinet, president and vice. This will add to the credence of the PACT. Alternatively, they can announce only which ministry will be lead by each of the party and leave the presidency and vice to the last minute. Nevertheless, if the PACT will not work, Bwezani Kamwendo Munjila will continue misruling this country as people will be disoriented on the alternative person to vote for.     The past elections have been very clear, people want either RB or SATA. Thats what the margority of the Zambians in this country want, going by the past elections. Even Western Province gave RB a landslide last time.
    For us who feel the likes of HH are what we need in this country will try next time because we are in the minority. A bitter pill to swallow indeed but what can we do when the margority of ZAMBIANS want RB OR SATA.

    In light of the news that Mr SATA MC collapsed this morning or afternoon, it only entails that PF has to come up with a weak presidential candidate so that Mr serpentine Sata MC can rest and enjoy his old age peacefully.

  68. The PF cabinet is just waiting for the expiry date of Sata so that they share the spoils of PF. These are Kabimba and Scott. They are afraid of Given Lubinda. They always accuse him of something coz he is intelligent. Anyway, Lubinda has UPND Blood, so he can not fit in the jungle of thieves and those who do not know democracy. Check who he is at National, Regional and International level and you will agree with me that Given Lubinda is Brilliant. But as usual you hate him because he is “Lubinda”.   69. Hey, the genesis of the Pact was not because UPND wanted to be with PF. This came up after the loss of Levy because Rupiah turned round and invited thieves, jackles and hyenas to govern with him. We have since witnessed the Hyena-jackle acquittals from corruption charges. It was necessary to come together to fight this injustice, hence the UPND/PF Pact. So do not demonise HH for inviting Sata to join the pact. Sata must leave the Pact if he fears that HH will carry the day when they go through a democratic process of choosing Pact president.

  70. We know and we have information that many PF electoral college members had put their support on HH if the two went for elections to choose the PACT President. It is this information that leaked to Sata, Winter and Guy which unsettled them. Hence, you have seen their campaign without UPND. The fear is that HH would win the UPND/PF Pact convention. Sata fears this humiliation, while Winter and Guy fear for their jobs and spoils if Sata left politics. They have demonised Lubinda in this case too. Yes, you cannot trust Sata.
