Rangers Lose To Lupopo

Share

Nchanga Rangers return to Caf club cup action after an 11 year absence this afternoon started on a poor note after they lost away to Lupopo in the DR Congo.

Rangers lost 1-0 to Lupopo in a Caf Confederation Cup first round, first leg match played at this afternoon at Kenya Stadium in Lubumbashi.

The Chingola side conceded a first half goal scored by Lupopo’s Zimbabwean international Carrington Gomba in the 21st minute.

The two sides meet in the return leg on April 2 at Nchanga Stadium in Chingola to decide which side advance to the second round of the Confederation Cup.

Rangers last appearance in a Caf club tournament was in 2000 when they reached the quarterfinals of the Caf Cup.

Meanwhile, Zesco United’s Caf Champions League opponents Young Buffaloes of Swaziland arrived in the country on Thursday.

The team spent the night in Lusaka on Thursday and had a hour workout at 07:30 on Friday before continuing on their overland journey from Swaziland to Ndola just before mid-morning.

The two teams clash at the Trade Fair Grounds on Saturday.

  1. amaranger go boys we can still overturn that at home. I will be there to witness that. we will make the noise. as for zesco good game guys

  2. Hey that aint a loss to moan about. Brave Rangers can easily overturn the result in a fortnight

  3. Just give them encouragement, what is done is done and look forward to the future, it is like your child has not done well in some tests and you just want to continue condemning him instead of being at his side and giving him moral support and the resources for him to advance.

  4. One nil is not bad what is bad is the treatment rangers supporters where given in Congo…….two big 72 seater buses(thanks to kcm) loaded with ma-ranger supporters where denied access to the stadium/access to lubumbashi meaning they played without the supporters.Supporters where seen gathering on the local congo T.V channel where they watch live game and enjoying the ever cool simba beer. And yet so many congolese national sell (shoes, cloth.at the town centre of chingola town (i wonder what immigration officers are doing about this)Will treat them the same come 2 april.

  5. Rangeers must work hard in all departments in fact it should declare total WAR “WAFWA WAFWA WASHALA WASHALA ” on Lupopo FC. Its not a walkover club as they thought. if they are dreaming of reversing the loss using home ground advantage strategy then they will be a huge shock. Bruce Mwape and his boys should really work hard. If possible let them solicit the technical know how of thelikes of Lucky Msisika and Chicken George.

  6. No.13 its not Zambian culture to mistreat our visitors in such ways if the Congolease did it then its better to complain to Moses Katumbi. With supporters or no supporters a good team can still win.Its not the supporters who determine the flow of the game on the pitch buts its the players. We have been beaten clean before besides home support at Konkola stadium etc. Lets just prepare 101%.
