National Democratic Focus (NDF) president Ben Mwila has said the organisations promoting the parallel vote tabulation (PVT) of election results are preparing Zambians to reject the 2011 presidential poll results.
Mr Mwila said in the likely event that the opposition lost the elections, the Press Freedom Committee of the Post Newspapers (PFC), Southern African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) and Caritas Zambia could never have good intentions for Zambia.
He said the three organisations were always against the Government and had preferred candidates they wanted to lead Zambia.
Mr Mwila said the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) should use the current debate to bar the three organisations from accrediting as monitors because they were biased and did not mean well for both the Government and the Zambian people.
He questioned the capacity and neutrality of PFC, which was basically The Post newspaper, for them to claim they could run a process that required impartiality and maturity.
Mr Mwila said PVT was a smokescreen for the organisations to prepare ground for the rejection of the election results by announcing their own figures, and lead to confusion like it happened in Zimbabwe and Kenya.
The Nchelenge parliamentarian said ECZ had credible systems that could be relied upon at all times.
He said PFC, SACCORD, and Caritas Zambia were behaving as if they were an extension of the opposition Patriotic Front, and wondered why donors selected them when they knew that they were always critical of the Government even when it was performing well.
Mr Mwila also described Catholic priest Frank Bwalya and Citizens Forum executive director Simon Kabanda as failed clerics who had now turned to politics to help cause confusion.
[ Times of Zambia ]
Ask the U.N to come and monitor the elections as Zambians are not trustworthy enough to handle the job themselves
atase ba Mwila, how much did this cost MMD?
What is this Party? Does it even have members apart from Ben Mwila? This man is a finished Politician.
Nashala Neka Party for B.Y Kantu Mwila is still in existance???? This is very sad indeed. he should just disband and join All Peoples Congress party.
Rubbish – Doesn’t deserve any comment.
BY is 100% correct. Do you chaps expect post freedom commitee to be impartial?
WHO IS BY ANYWAY? THE CHAP IS EXTREMELY IGNORANT ABOUT PVT AND WE CANNOT START EXPLAINING WHAT PVT IS AGAIN.
ANYWAY,THANKYOU BY FOR EXPOSING YOU IGNORANCE.
BE PART OF THE WIND OF CHANGE.ONLY THE LARGEST OPPOSITION PARTY WILL BRING CHANGE.YOUR VOTE WILL NOT COUNT IF YOU VOTE FOR A SMALL REGIONAL GROUPING. VOTE MICHAEL SATA IF YOU WANT CHANGE.
Don’t just criticise BY just for the sake of critcising. He has a big and valid point. Who on earth would ask The Post to handle PVT when we all know their agenda. They have always been against the goverment and we know that Brother Mmembe is deep trouble over Zambia Airways and Finance Bank sagas, so he wants a way to escape. BY is right. Look at the countries that allowed the PVT system and what happened after elections – violence. It’s indeed a way of preparing to reject election results and plunge the country into trouble.
Here goes another rupiah beggar, He has nothing credible to offer the Zambian people.
Please spare us from your irrational analysis on PVT
By why what has gone wrong with your credibility. There is nothing Parallel Vote Tabulation is fertile ground to prepare the mind set of the pipo to reject election results should the opposition PF lose elections. There is need to ensure that no cheating takes place during the forthcoming general elections. The tabulation will be done at each polling station by and agreed upon by all stakeholders before they are released to District centres as final. All these organisations are trying to do is to avoid choas at the end of the elections. There are instances where votes cast are more than the pipo who registered. Where do these goast voters come from. Where is the fear. BY declare your interest. Theadvoctes of PVT know what is at stake. They have insde infornmation by MMD Chief RIGGER.
What do you expect from these id.iots and their stinking arses.
That MMD can to go to such extents of hiring finished politicians means that PVT is really a thorn in their flesh. They should also just ban presiding officers from announcing the results because this is the source of information that PVT wants to use and as far as I ma concerned once anouncements are made at the polling station, that information now becomes public. Bushe bukopo nangu people just want to deliberately mislead?
After 45 years of independence, I am shocked that Zambia still has naive, money seeking citizens who keep asking foreign powers to monitor its elections. Why should local elections be monitored by foreigners as though legitimacy comes from them? The so called foreign observers are currently justifying the military intervention in Libya to prevent the bloody repression of a popular uprising when just next door, the Saudis, move their forces into Bahrain to quash a popular uprising in that country (where U.S. warships are permanently based). Are these the independent observers PFC, SACCORD and Caritas are asking to come and monitor Zambian elections? Please wake up and smell the coffee.
Mr BY, from where and to where, elections are near from the archive you resurface, how much have you been paid or assured.PVT should be conducted, there is alot of time for ECZ to assess and evaulate monitors who will use PVT.
BY. comments of a frustrated politician whose party has been severely degraded. What has remained of BY is himself, children and wife whom he calls members of his party. BY has outlived his usefulness. This is a man who tricked Zambians together with chiluba that they were relatives. Zambians gave this man an opportunity during the third term to dislodge chiluba but he proved to be incompetent. His own officials such Masebo, Moses Kaunda, Samuel Mukupa and alike mutined and left him. His party remained like a shell. He also lost his constituency in Luanshya and drifted to Nchelenge. Let his red lips speak better politics instead of venting his anger and frustration on adovacates of good democracy.
I haven’t heard anything about UPND’s position on PVT. What’s going on, or is it because they don’t need monitors across the country, they have enough resourses to monitor voting at Choma & Monze polling stations.
