UPND, PF both to blame for pact demise – Nkombo

Share

United Party for National Development (UPND) Mazabuka central Member of Parliament Garry Nkombo has described the breaking up of the UPND/PF pact as the most difficult and terrible time for the opposition political parties.

Giving his personal view to QFM yesterday Mr. Nkombo says that the demise of the pact should be blamed on the failure by the pact partners to understand each other.

Mr. Nkombo says though he is personally displeased by the decision of the UPND to break away from the PACT, he believes the action was God’s intervention.

He says the relationship between the two parties was not good for them to form government.

Mr. Nkombo has appealed to Zambians to understand that the relationship of the two political parties was going to be a perfect ingredient to put the nation on fire.

He further noted that among the factors that made the PACT fail was that the two political parties never trusted each other.

Mr. Nkombo observed that there was a heavy hand in the Patriotic Front that did not want to see the PACT succeed.

And Mr. Nkombo has stated that the PF does not have what it takes to revive the failed political alliance.

  1. Sata’s popularity declines in Lusaka urban – survey

A SURVEY conducted in Lusaka urban to ascertain the popularity of presidential candidates has found that Patriotic Front (PF) leader Michael Sata’s rating has declined by 25.9 per cent while that of President Rupiah Banda has risen by 11.1 per cent.

According to the researcher and consultant, Wisdom Kaleng’a, the major finding of the survey was that Lusaka urban was no longer a stronghold for Mr Sata, who would find it extremely difficult to maintain his huge winning margins that characterised the 2008 presidential election performance.

  2. Mr Kaleng’a said the results indicated that if elections were held in Lusaka urban today, there would be an 11.1 per cent gain for Mr Banda from the 2008 presidential results, a significant decline of 25.9 per cent for Mr Sata, and a slight gain of 5.2 per cent for United Party for National Development (UPND) president, Hakainde Hichilema.

These results reveal an interesting emerging trend in the likely voting pattern in Lusaka in the 2011 elections, and cite a number of factors that accounted for this emerging trend in Lusaka urban.

  3. Enough already! Can we move on now?

This back and forth is starting to getting on people’s nerves!! The marriage has failed and it is time to concentrate on individual Party campaigns, OK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. @Mwata:

Please, get a life, will you!!

Hate Sata for reasons anchored in TRUTH and INTELLECTUAL MATURITY!!! These lies are now turning into something worse than SELF DELLUSIONS. Do you people really think that Zambians are that stu.pid not to judge for themselves?!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Some time it is difficult to understand how people decide to become dull just to discredit someone. When one says the law recognise homosexuality, it does not mean the law legalises it. It simply means the law provides for what should happen to one who practises that, whether they must be praised or punished. Sata simply meant there was no need for further legislation because the current (existing) law already recognise this as a felony or a crime, whatever lawyers call it. All it needs is implementation by law enforcing agents on perpetrators.

  6. my self i have quit this blog because LT is biased and a gvt machinery. let those dreaming of killing the pf continue and live on….but we shall not be deteres…..we ar winning this yr. Bye bye all those supporters of pf and viva pf long live Sata

  7. Mr. Nkombo has appealed to Zambians to understand that the relationship of the two political parties was going to be a perfect ingredient to put the nation on fire.

Very true when their is mistrust then problems start. Even in marriages that is a receipe for divorce. Imagine what would have happened if Sata became pressident under the alliance and never appointed HH as his veep. After all the constitution does not oblige him to do so. What I have never understood was the reluctance on PF’s part to form a joint governing programme with UPND. Just there thats were any serious Zambian should analyse whether politicians really get into office for the good of the electorate or for their own good. Well at least it should be 50:50

  8. Garry stop wasting time on the pact demise. Can you guys concentrate on campaigns. This nonsese of talking about the pact is a waste of time. The milk is spilled and we are all happy. How can you work with Sata even Chiluba avoided giving him the presidency..who are you to work with Sata.. This is ok all well meaning Zambians are are happy. Your task is stop this nonsense of always talking about the as pact demise and concentrate of campaigns. If you continue sleeping your opponents will make head ways while you keep crying like babies. Politics is a tough game and you guys must be tough. No riding on other peoples backs. KI NAKO, kulela chisi nkuyumayuma musankwa.

  9. Iwe Mwata, dont think we are kids.Give that propaganda to Times and ZNBC. Donchi Kubeba I dont think LT is biased. They dont seem to have a political stance. They are just naive publishers in that they cant make up their minds on whether to carry the lies being published by the State owned media or verify these tall stories before publishing them.

  10. Mwata

You are doing a good job! You are one of the few bloggers who posts well researched and informative articles.

  11. Its well to notice that, but what is the way forward because facts has it that one, PF can not win alone this years elections and UPND as well can’t win this years elections. And our desire, our cry is to see MMD get out but how? Whom should we trust now for mother Zambia? Please politicians, help us.

  12. Mr.HH, I am very disappointed with you.You need to a man enough to stand on your own rather than figure pointing.Look at Sata he is not insuilting you but insteady he busy selling himself for the forthcoming election. But what do I hear from you its just lying to us that you decided to leave the pack because you feared that Sata will bring gay in Zambia.Thats a blue liar my tribe cuasin. We from Northwestern provice we are very disappointed with you.You remember very well that we have been cheated for along time by the MMD and now that the same party you are trying to work with again.Mr.HH where are you manners?Do you really think by working with the MMD will give you an opportunity to be the Presindent?Be a man enough and learn withn the opposition parties.

  13. Mwata please leave the propaganda with the Times! Don’t transport it here. Ba LTee don’t give us Times articles . Give us yours!

  14. Presidency, Presidency, Presidency!!!!!!!!!!! Thats what they all wanted and it was clear from the begining. But you can only have one at a time. The PF guys at least did not hide that fact.

  15. THE PF STILL WANT THE PACT AND UPND IS REFUSING SO DO YOU BLAME BOTH PARTIES?
UPND IS TO BLAME FOR BREAKING OF THE PACT.
    VIVA SATA 2011

  16. Lt can you please let me express my self instead of playing around with my blogs. I beg to remain polite and do your self some justice. This is a government designed public domain and dont want interference from you. Especially LT spies. For once let me contribute

  17. You guys it doesnt matter anymore, concetrate on your individual party campaigns,i have started campaigning for my individual economic development not that Zambian political rhetoric

  18. Please stop deamining HH you PF chaps. Enough is enough. The youngman is an interlectual and you can not use him. He has refused to be used by the gang of Kaponyas. In 2011 Elections it is HHHHHHHH and RBBBBBBBBBB!!!!!!!B. Heart attack or no Heart attack, the biggest opposition party may come third this time around. Mind you, UPND was once a biggest Opposition party from 2001 to 2006. Watch the space.

  19. All Sweet lovers of Zambia,we have got the truth about HH.from the start some pipo knew the position of HH.A man who was always tripping to Plot one. Many many times he was seen with the blues, both old blues the new comers( light blues).
We have now seen the real man him(HH). Let go with the so called blues and we will see how far he will go with them.
We now follow him and will dig deep in all what will do with the out going blues.

  20. “Mr. Nkombo says though he is personally displeased by the decision of the UPND to break away from the PACT”. This is an admission statement.
My personal view on UPND is that they urgently need to change their leader. HH has failed to run the party. The party was stronger when Mazoka was a leader. Just after that is death, UPND has been loosing its popularity. I strongly believe there are still people in UPND who can do better. Its now or never for UPND.

  21. Sata is to blame for this failure. He should have just let the young man head the pact. HH has what it takes to be a good leader. If they completely fail to agree then just know that this is the last election Sata is contesting as president. This is the truth don’t care what some people look at my opinion. MMD is here to stay.

  22. No 1 Mwata, you are worse than scum! Where in this world do you get the idea that Sata is the president of LEGATRA or Lesbian, Gay and Transgender Association Zambian chapter? Your small mind and your so-called researcher and consultant, Wisdom Kaleng’a has given us his version of idea! Where does he sample these Lusaka pollsters? What is the margin for errors? Tell us these indices and we shall believe you. This is what your call PVT or what RB says is illegal! You will be arrested by your very own RB! For your information, 3 quarters of people on this subject agree with Nkombo- have you taken their views into your sample?

  23. NOSENCSE NOSENSE NOSENSE NOSENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!VIVA PF FOR 2011

  24. Let people forget about the pact.It is a dead child who could have grown to liberate us from poverty and backwardness. He died a premature death because parents failed to sustain and nurture him into a fruitful child. It is shameful talking about a dead vision which failed to blossom because of selfishiness and retrogressive thoughts.Let the two parents stand own their own and wrestle power from big mama(MMD).It will take a crane for big mama to surrender power to undecided chaps. This time around, poverty will skyrocket.Backwardness and ignorance will be the order of the day with big mama in power. What a wasted opportunity!Fortune knocks but once in life time.

  25. When one reads the messages from PF bloggers one realizes how doomed this party is to have such sympathizers. By the way what does ‘DONCHI KUBEBA’ really mean? It sounds like it was coined by a drunk weed smoker!!! and not a supposedly serious party dreaming to one day be in power. Shame.

  26. SATA: The point is the laws have already made restrictions. Some people are saying I am talking to you people because I want to bring back the gay and lesbians and I tell them to say listen, the laws of Zambia recognise gayism, the laws of Zambia recognise lesbians.

And the laws of Zambia have provided restrictions and when you go all-over the world, there is not any single country which has not provided restrictions for those things, those are cheap propaganda, the laws are there what we need is to implement the laws.

  27. Every time there are erections, men are always on top (they are the ones in majority). During this years erections, we want women to be on top !!!!!!!!!!!!??????? So said one of the women from a known NGO.

  28. Pact, gay or lesbian issues are just a time waster! These debates a sign of laziness…..because politics is associated with looting/plundering of GRZ resources, every one wants to get into office regardless of ability to be honest servants!

  29. I just hope now RB will triumph, now Garry has said that the demise of the PACT was God given. If it is from God then, the LORD wants RB to be the next President again.

I for one supported the PACT but now am for RB and the MMD . I just hope he will reignite and support the anti corruption fight against his ministers.

RB for 2011 president and bonse aba bambi ni bangwele!!

  30. Politics is really cheap and full of rhetoric in Zambia. We are always saying the same things. I think we will only do ourselves a big favour if we discard these old politicians, and welcome the vibrant youth on the political scene, and maybe we will talk about something new and progressive to the good cause of mother Zambia. Coz one thing for sure which i have observed is we really love our country. Meaning, the youthful broom will sweep faster and diligently, while at the same time, the youthful bring will at intervals go to the old broom to ask about the other corners the youthful broom may not be very conversant with. Its called synergy. Period.

  31. Garry, you have no option baba but to join hands with other progressive minds in the Patriotic Front (PF). I like your debates in parliament and would love to see in on the right side next year, as part of Government Officials in parliament.

Remaining in the UPND for the MP’s is quite a risky affair as you will loss those seats to either the PF or the MMD. Looks as though people do not want to continue wasting there votes anymore.

  32. Ba Jobby #3, no matter how much you try to dispel this issue, ur prez anaitaya. Let him be gentleman enough to appologize to the country for advocating homosexuality. And of course those tribes he has been calling names like amatako, think with their tribe instead of their heads, the list is endless. I hear he also wanted to strip the Litunga of his powers. This product is very difficult to sell now. Insults will not help anybody kuya bebele uno mwaka.
