FLASHBACK: Assistant Secretary Johnnie Carson(left) and Hon. Felix Mutati in Washington DC

Zambia’s commerce, trade and industry minister Felix Mutati is this Thursday expected to address the United States congress on African/US trade.

Mr. Mutati is expected to make attention to the US over the challenges faced in trading with the US under the African Growth Opportunity Act AGOA.

Mr. Mutati will lead a delegation of other African leaders as part of the forthcoming AGOA conference to be held in Zambia in June.

The commerce minister revealed to QFM Business News that there are a number of challenges that African countries are facing to trade with the US.

He states that issues such as the first risk assessment takes a long time to be accomplished, resulting in a negative effect.

Mr. Mutati adds that another challenge that has hampering US/Africa trade is the penetration of agriculture products.

Mr. Mutati says the US congress is very important as it is the one that makes US laws.

  1. Mutati is part of the mafia that is corrupt and his deals are well disguised known by a few people. His addressing the US politicians has no meaning to Zambians since he is part of the group in government that has continued to plunder our nation.

  2. Hon Mutati for president 2016!!!! he’s the perfect candidate; intellectually ready,
Very humble individual and he has the political experience to back him.

  3. #1 Learn to tell the difference between national issues and party issues. This assignment is a national issue and on national issues we need to be behind anubody raising the Zambian flag whereever they go , just like we do it for our sports teams. You have many fora made available by the good governance of the MMD where you can vent your rants.

Hon Mutati has been chosen to lead a delegate of African leaders and he is Zambia and by the fact that he is Zambia, that should make you proud to have people put faith in your own people. We can talk about politics on other fora and not on this thread.

There is a point where we can call each other nigga, no big deal , but if an outsider does it becomes an issue. You need to understand that by now.

  4. Its funny how MMD cadres wil praise people and immediately call them trash once they fall out of favor with their party. Anyway typical of cadres wether singing after being given Chibuku in a township or disguised behind a computer on the internet.

Felix you come out well and i hope you are a practical person. the only problem is that many good young people in MMD are cowards. they cannot do what the FDD group and the others did after the third term. If RB imposes a candidate, they can all go for that person– thats my fear these youn lads who seemingly have the potential- Mutati

  5. I think though am no MMD symphathiser, I admire Mutati for his hard work, commitment and eloquence. he is sharp and intelligent and knows what he talks about and he is passionate about his career. i hope he is not part of corrupt selfish lot that are busy plundering this nation. he can male a good president one day if he keeps the spirit.

  6. This has nothing to do with Mutati as a person nor Zambia . It is because Zambia is holding the Chairmanship of the Africa Growth and Opprtunity Act (AGOA). Mutati is specifically going to talk about this to the US congress. Mutati is just like the rest of the MMD ministers. This is one person who is on record that he doesnt expect Zambians to understand issues of taxation because they are too complicated.! And for some dubious reason someone wants to promote this charlattan as fresh breath of air! Kiss my nigger assi!

  7. #5 You are a wise man, we need such bloggers to educate these kaponyas on this platform, thumbs up

  8. All the best Felix but please leave married women alone.God gives and takes, marriage is a Holy communion, there are a lot of single ladies everywhere.

  9. This is good. We need markets to grow our agricultural sector and the sooner barriers to trade are loosened the better. Keep the good fight guys.

  10. The word potential is today euphemism for useless. Zambia has potential to be a great nation! So and so has the potential to be a good leader! We have potential to supply running water to our rural folk! Potentially, we have good potential. How many times have you heard that? There is this tendency to announce possibility even before feasibility is made real. That is how useless potential is in our part of the world. A lot of “potential” I have witnessed elsewhere has a lot of practical things happening under the hood that are tangible. Just watch TED and watch how potential is articulated at its best!!!!!

  11. Mutati commands an estate of more than K 1,4 trillion Kwacha. He is the only real Zambian millionaire. This amount is in excess of US$ 200 million. Zambians you should start thinking. You are all too d.u.ll. All of you. Except me. Just look at the bulk of your foullish comments on LT.

  12. “How swiftly men perish when they praise themselves, unappraised of their real measure and unable to live peacefully with others. Load too many of them and even peacock feathers would break the cart’s axle”. Tirukkural has said elegantly for me. I need not add more to this.

  13. Can Kambwili, Sata, GBM, and other PF thugs manage to address Congress? No ways! Pf is full of dull gays or sorry dull guys!

  14. Good Man smart, but disappointing, he is also compromising with all the corrupt MMD team. Sad of it all is that he his failed to make a difference apart from being a better public speaker. Keep up the good work though, but have the courage to condemn corruption.

  15. Mutati seems to be intelligent. Unfortunately he is Bemba. Sorry, support from us if you are thinking of running for plot one. Only Tongas are eligible.

  16. Mutati seems to be intelligent. Unfortunately he is Bemba. Sorry, NO support from us if you are thinking of running for plot one. Only Tongas are eligible.

  17. Why is it that we in Zambia don’t try to look deeper to see how things have come to be?

Z as the hosts of AGOA, will have to lead this delegation, it just happens to be Mutati in that ministry. This is a guy who on two occasions has had to swallow his own words, after insulting our intelligence. Bless Congress for having to sit in & listen to a guy like him. He has risen thru MMD ranks by being good at licking, though initially parachuted in by people like Griver Sikasote.

What presidential material people see in him, boggles ones mind, but then, that’s people judging books by their covers. People should also look at how his family grew tentacles in ZCCM!

  18. #18 you are a cow for sure and to me you seem to be a very dull and illiterate fellow with nothing to talk about. Go herd your cows !
Mutati is Presido material whether he is Bemba, Tonga, Lozi or not. This is the new era, hello !

  19. mutati is cool although this presido issue is way beyond the discussion. for now he has high IQ but to lead the nation i think we need more than just that intelligence.

  20. Anybody can address the US Congress. It doesn’t mean they should be President. That’s why we end with people like Chiluba because of such kind of thinking.

  21. In #5 ab0ve, MMD Chief Bootlicker used the word ‘issue/s’ five times. If the problem is language that’s grossly limited your vocabulary, please switch to your Tumbuka or Nguni vernacular.

  22. #15 my thoughts exactly, have tried so much to support the ideologies of Sata and his compatriots but all i hear from them are “noises from empty tins”. Taxation not being complicated? u ve to learn it to believe it, i fell to understand how a locomotive driver can reduce these taxes when advisers to the world bank chiefs have failed to do so. No wonder why most PF supporters seem emotional about RB, he’s performance has shocked many, myself included. ZAMBIANS LETS GET REAL we stop this unprincipled kind of politics. lets call A SPADE A SPADE!

  23. This is a nation assignment  and i do not see any sane human being to start critising Mutati just because he is MMD. Lets at times rise above personal and party issues. Zambia and many African countries that are supposed to be beneficiaries of this agreement have for a long time failed to penetrate the USA market simple because of many challenges that AGOA brings along with it. Its just right that Africans through Mutati voice out the concerns so that Congress can revisit the Agreement period. Zambians we just like talking and talking without critically analysing issues. If you do like the Government of the day then vote them out and if you will feel cheated in this elections then protest in masses period.

  24. Ma! koma you Zambians have nothing to do, are you sure this is all you
you can do? Please grow up and stop pin pointing because it doesnt
help you. Grow up and be counted as true Zambians. Dig deeper where those trilions are
coming from. History is good only when you have facts.
